You're All Surrounded Episode 20 Recap

It’s the last episode and we’re probably going to spend all hour taking down Moon Bae, rather than having some fun. Sigh. Which is why I guess I put off watching the show for a week or two.

We start right where the last episode ended, with Pan Suk taking off his hat and uniform jacket and declaring that even though it’s illegal for him to release information before charges have been filed,  there is no other way to uncover the truth of this case. Then he starts the briefing. Sa Kyung arrives, a pained look on her face. Toad looks upset/angry and Eung Do is there, supporting his hyung.

Pan Suk announces that not long ago, Chief was murdered, a murder disguised as a traffic accident. The truck driver confessed that someone ordered him to kill her. The Prosecutor's Office has concluded that Yoo Ae Yun is behind this accident, too. Reporter1 clarifies that he’s talking about politician Yoo Moon Bae's daughter; Chasung's Yoo Ae Yun. Lots of murmuring when Pan Suk confirms it.

Pan Suk continues that on the day of the incident, Yoo Ae Yun was forcibly admitted into a mental hospital. It’s possible that she could have ordered the murder in advance, but if that's so, they’re curious about the motive behind the murder. The prosecution has not been successful in revealing this. On the day of the accident, Chief had a recording related to the Masan School Nurse case. Pan Suk says that he’s going play it for them now. I don’t know why they keep taking pictures. Pan Suk hasn’t moved. The pictures are all going to look the same.

Recording:
Boots: So you're telling me to fake the DNA test results to make it look like Kim Ji Yong is Sin Ji Il's son? Are you planning to give your daughter the fake results?
Moon Bae: This is the only way I can get Ae Yun to fund me again before the election. I can’t let her cut off my campaign money for her stupid husband’s business.
Boots: You need to promise me to take care of me once you get elected.
Moon Bae: Don't worry about that. Go and get your job done without leaving any cracks.
One thing Moon Bae didn’t count on was a person with integrity, who was willing to lose his job in order for the truth to come out. Toad was surprised to hear Moon Bae’s voice. Sa Kyung looks a little sick, too.

One of the reporters declares that this is Assemblyman Yoo Moon Bae on the recording, right? Pan Suk says that Chief was murdered right after she met with Assemblyman Yoo, whose voice is on the recording. More murmurs from the crowd. Pan Suk declares that if the information on the recording is correct, Ae Yun tried to kill the victim of the Masan School Nurse murder because she was fooled by the false DNA results arranged by her father, Moon Bae.

Reporter1 asks why Chief had the recording. Reporter2 asks if Pan Suk is saying that there was a connection between Assemblyman Yoo Moon Bae and Chief Kang Suk Soon? Pan Suk declares that this is exactly what they want to investigate but the Prosecutor's Office not only failed to carry out a thorough investigation in search of the truth but they also are unwilling even to summon Assemblyman Yoo for questioning regarding all the allegations. They have hastily declared that Yoo Ae Yun is the perpetrator.

Reporter3 asks if the real culprit behind Chief’s murder is Assemblyman Yoo Moon Bae. Slight pause by Pan Suk. He declares that they don't know yet. Pan Suk says that the reason why he’s standing there, despite the chance that he’ll lose his job, is because of that. He’s violated the Police Code of Ethics by breaking the ban on disclosing charges before prosecution. Pan Suk declares that he’ll take any and all responsibility for it, but he’s asking for their support so that his team members can continue this investigation. Through a thorough investigation, they will make sure to reveal the true culprit.

Pan Suk adds that some say that justice in this society is dead. Some say that the media is also dead. But he doesn't think of it that way. He asks them to please go out and prove his belief. He closes by saying that he asks this of them, and he'll ask of it of them again. And I’m a little emotional.

After the press conference is over, the team leaves the briefing room to meet Pan Suk in the hall. He smiles at them. Eung Do tells him that he did well. The kids ask if he’s okay. With a smile he replies that, of course, he’s okay. Did someone die or something? Eung Do suggests that they go to the team room and talk.

But before that can happen, Pan Suk is met by Lee Jong Min from the Internal Affairs Department. They’re going to be conducting a through review of recent events: losing important evidence, ignoring organizational structure. Along with what he just did, he needs to come with them. This part baffles me. The recently got rid of 80% of the police force because of corruption and now, because he’s exposing corruption (that went up to Chief) he’s getting audited. Does not make sense. Pan Suk says that he understands and tells Eung Do to take care of the kids. No one on the team is happy about this development.

Moon Bae is throwing a fit in his office, breaking things. He didn't play by the rules! I'm the only one who's allowed to not play by the rules! Slimy and the other lawyer are there. It’s all falling apart. Hahahaha! Slimy gets a phone call. He quickly answers it, lest the ringing piss Moon Bae off further. He sputters that he understands. It's the Prosecutor's Office. Eyebrow raise.

Police Station. Frog is interviewing Ae Yun. He asks if she was the one who ordered Chief’s murder. At least they got her out of the loony bin. Ae Yun is as pleasant as ever. Ae Yun asks who Chief Kang Suk Soon is. She has to know who she is before she can kill or save her! That’s a very good point. Hmm… I wonder what Frog thinks. Boy, I hope he gets fired. Probably won’t though. Frog smiles his arrogant smile and says that Slimy said that he received his orders from her. On hearing Slimy’s name, Ae Yun scoffs and says that Slimy must be crazy.

Moon Bae’s Office. He’s looking out the window. Ae Yun has come by. He doesn’t turn around. Because he’s a… I don’t even know a word for him. She asks how he could deceive her. He replies that she doesn't even know what's important. That's right. The only thing that's important is what Appa wants. She’s holding onto a shell of a husband and wasting her whole life. Wow, he’s one to talk. She yells at him if he thinks he’s making any sense. She’s starting to shriek as she says that she almost killed someone because of his lies! He announces that he only hoped that she would divorce her husband; that's why he did it. I really hope she’s wearing a wire with an immunity deal in place. Not that she’s a nice person at all. But I really hope she’s getting this all on tape in a way that it’s not going to hurt her more. She’s already going away for Oma’s murder…

Ae Yun asks if Moon Bae killed that Kang Suk Soon or whomever that woman was. Finally he turns around and looks at her. Does she have any idea who that woman is? Wow, his voice is so condescending right now. He says that Chief was the one who took care of her mess eleven years ago. If it wasn't for her, it’s something that would never have happened in the first place. Say what? And yes, Ae Yun says what I’m thinking: Ae Yun shrieks at him that if he hadn’t have messed with the results, she wouldn’t have had any reason to try and kill Oma! And I can’t believe Moon Bae. Wow.

Moon Bae looks away from her as he tells Ae Yun that this is why she shouldn't have gone through with a marriage that he was so against! Again, it's *her* fault that he did anything. I don’t like your husband, so I’m going to ruin your life. You're making me beat you right now. Ae Yun's voice is high (and disappointed) as she says that this is why Mom didn't leave him a penny's worth of inheritance.

Moon Bae turns around and smiles that smile of his. The smile I want to smack off his face. He tells Ae Yun that she still hasn't come to her senses. The way that she’s just blinked, she’s telling herself that she can’t believe she ever thought he cared about her. Which she’s right about. He’s too narcissistic to care about anyone but himself. Moon Bae says that Ae Yun’s only out on bail for medical reasons. She’s practically crying as she looks at him. Does she wish to go back to the detention center? Ae Yun laughs with disbelief. At the sheer lunacy of it all.

Internet article declares that Assemblyman Yoo didn't actively refute the allegations and has acknowledged the relationship with his daughter. Tae Il declares that the internet is exploding with articles. Ae Yun was also summoned by the prosecutor. Tae Il and the gang (minus Dae Goo) are in the team conference room. Gook declares that the comments section is no joke. Eung Do thinks that the Prosecutor's Office might give the case back to them, since the media coverage is so high. But there’s no news. Gook sighs.

Toad enters, with a cane – why is he using a cane? I know he broke his toe, but a cane? he's not even using it. – and declares that this is all thanks to the power of his Korean red beans! Frog’s office requested further investigation and the investigation has been handed over to Team 3 again! Soo Sun claps with happiness. Toad says that because of this, he’s going to give them the newest technology available. Triumphant music starts to play as Toad puts the tech down on the table. GPS tracker! Hidden cameras which transfer videos instantaneously! Toad tells them to work hard! If they plant beans, they'll get beans. In a place where red beans are planted, there should be results! Then he leaves.

Gook is looking at his laptop. An article catches his interest. He declares that Yoo Moon Bae is planning to resign his position! "I'm sorry for troubling the citizens. I will take responsibility and resign." How magnanimous of him. Still the politician.

Press Conference. Moon Bae declares that 11 years ago, just for this golden badge – The badge is the pin he wears as an Assemblyman. He places his hand on his heart dramatically, for emphasis – he betrayed his daughter. What on earth is this golden badge that he ended up committing such a horrendous crime? Again he pats his heart. To his daughter, he sincerely begs for forgiveness. He starts to cry. Sorry. I’m gagging over here. He pounds his chest and declares that it's all his fault. More crying and chest pounding as he again declares that it's his fault. Wow, he must have put some lemon in his eyes. That’s a tear on his cheek. Moon Bae can ‘barely’ speak as he says, “Daughter. I'm truly sorry.” He takes off his glasses and turns to the side to blow his nose. How do people believe things like this?

Now that that’s out of the way…

Moon Bae turns back around and declares that the fact that he was named as the instigator for the murder of Police Chief Kang, he will definitely not let that go! It's a complete slander. How is any of that video footage supposed to turn out with all those strobes going off? That room’s so brightly lit, they don’t need strobes to take their pictures. Arg. It’s just so distracting! Sorry. Moon Bae declares that it's an act by the police of stomping on his last bit of dignity when he’s already hit bottom. To prove his innocence, he declares that he will sincerely cooperate with the police investigation! Then he bows low before all the reporters, letting a little smile escape. I really wish they'd shown one of the reporters catching that smile, so he's even more busted.

Moon Bae is with Slimy in interrogation. He adjusts his hair in the mirror. Man. He is so cocky right now, thinking that he can just game the system. The team looks at him through the glass. Tae Il asks what they should do? They haven't adequately prepared for the interrogation yet. Soo Sun says that she didn't think he would voluntarily walk in there so soon. Of course he would. He knows you’re not ready. Eung Do tells them to think of today as simple initial observation. Moon Bae's a sly old fox. They shouldn’t fall into his trap. Okay? Dae Goo answers, “okay.”

Dae Goo and Eung Do head into interrogation. Why are they having Dae Goo do it? The guy ordered his murder, his mother's murder and thinks he's untouchable, plus Dae Goo can have a short fuse. Moon Bae smiles smugly on seeing Dae Goo and declares that it's been a long time. Dae Goo declares that he will skip the proper addressing part, Mr. Yoo Moon Bae. Moon Bae’s a little surprised by his impudence. But, man, you don’t deserve that respect. In his Dae Goo monotone style that he uses when he’s rattling off facts and confronting people... Dae Goo declares that they have circumstantial evidence that Moon Bae met with Chief on the day of her death. She was murdered immediately after she came out of his office. He instigated Chief 's murder, didn't he? Moon Bae has his prune face on, but he looks away, smiles and says that such thing never happened.

Dae Goo declares that Slimy said Ae Yun gave the order, but the person that Slimy spoke to on the phone that day was him, Mr. Yoo Moon Bae. Moon Bae quips that Slimy’s his attorney, so it's only natural that they’re frequently on the phone together. Slimy bows in confirmation of Moon Bae’s words. I think Slimy looks a little nervous. And couldn't they get Slimy's phone records to show that he only talked to Moon Bae and not to Ae Yun? Dae Goo declares that Chief was extremely angry after coming out of his office. They had an argument that day, didn't they? Again, not looking at Dae Goo, Moon Bae declares that there was no such thing. Every time he says it didn't happen, he won't look Dae Goo in the eyes. Because he knows it's a lie!

Dae Goo declares that he personally witnessed the angry Chief. Moon Bae grimaces and declares that this is very frustrating. If Chief was alive at a time like this, she would prove that he’s innocent. He practically sighs that last part, like this is such an annoyance. Don’t fall into his trap, Dae Goo! Dae Goo asks Moon Bae how he dares to mention that name. Moon Bae chuckles and says that Dae Goo is such a hot-blooded young man. And he just happens to recall, now, that Chief was Dae Goo’s benefactor. Dae Goo tells Moon Bae just to answer the question. Immediately after Chief came out of his office that day...

Moon Bae cuts Dae Goo off, asking him if he knows why Chief sponsored him. Moon Bae’s smiling, goading. Dae Goo yells for Moon Bae to just answer the question! He throws his pencil. Eung Do looks at Dae Goo and calls him Detective Eun. Moon Bae chuckles, scoffing at Dae Goo’s outburst. The rest of the kids are worried. Dae Goo sighs and says that he’ll rephrase the question. Moon Bae instructed Boots to murder a kid named Kim Ji Yong 11 years ago, didn't he? Moon Bae looks like a pucker fish as he asks with what evidence Dae Goo’s making that claim.

Dae Goo doesn’t answer. Instead he says that Moon Bae instructed Chief to steal Ae Yun's pendant that fell in his front yard 11 years ago, didn't Moon Bae? Moon Bae smiles and says that no such thing happened. Dae Goo declares that Chief admitted it, that she took the pendant and gave away his location to Boots! Gloating, Moon Bae acts pained as he says that Suk Soon (Chief) did? Oh, my... Moon Bae tsks and says that Dae Goo must've been so shocked. She put on an angel's mask in front of him, but from behind she was trying to kill him. Dae Goo replies that, actually, Moon Bae wore the mask of a respected politician in public, but behind closed doors he murdered Chief who served him for 11 years. How can he have someone killed like that? Does Moon Bae even consider himself a human being?!!

Moon Bae chuckles and asks Dae Goo how he can be part of the investigation team, being so hot-tempered. He might burn himself in his own flames, if he gets too hot. Dae Goo tells him to shut that mouth. And I’m wondering if they’re playing Moon Bae right now, since this was all an observation session for the team. I hope so, because Dae Goo is starting to really get worked up. Moon Bae gloats, asking Dae Goo what he’s going to do? Dead men tell no tales. Boots and Chief are both dead. That's why he’s been telling Dae Goo all along that it would have been so nice if Chief were alive right now. Moon Bae laughs and stands up.

Moon Bae declares that there's nothing Dae Goo can do even if Dae Goo feels wronged. As he said, dead men tell no tales. Dae Goo’s got tears on his cheeks now. Moon Bae sighs and declares, “Poor Suk Soon.” And Dae Goo snaps. Rut Roh! He goes and grabs Moon Bae and shoves him up against the wall. Dae Goo declares that he’s going to kill Moon Bae. He’s going to kill Moon Bae! He’s choking the old buzzard. The team rushes in and peels Dae Goo off of Moon Bae. It takes a little effort, but less than when he was choking the life out of Pan Suk. Eung Do apologizes. Moon Bae calls Dae Goo a crazy bastard. He gloats that it looks like Chief, with a few pennies, completely bought a young kid's heart. Moon Bae points to the CCTV and tells Slimy to get a hold of the video image. Then he leaves, hacking. Dae Goo is still boiling as Soo Sun holds him back tightly.

Pan Suk leaves the Audit Department. He rounds a corner to find Eung Do waiting for him. Eung Do hands Pan Suk the CCTV clips from around Yoo Moon Bae's building. Eung Do tells Pan Suk that he should rest at least during the audit. Why is he asking for this sort of stuff? Pan Suk declares that he ought to do what he can at a crucial time like this. Pan Suk asks how the kids are doing. Eung Do says they are, of course. No need to worry Pan Suk by telling him about Dae Goo's outburst. Besides, Dae Goo's probably calmed down now, so he's fine now, too. Eung Do asks Pan Suk if his case will go as far as disciplinary action. Eung Do tells him that, no matter what, Pan Suk should avoid quitting. If Pan Suk quits, he’s quitting too. He’s not kidding! And then Pan Suk will have to be responsible for all five of Eung Do’s children. Pan Suk asks why he has to be responsible. Eung Do’s the one with the stamina to have five kids.

Dae Goo is looking at CCTV footage from Boots’s car, when Boots gave the envelope to Slimy in exchange for the money. He notices something: that the Chasung logo on Slimy’s envelope is not the same one that they’re using today. He pulls up a list of Chasung’s different logos and they changed from the logo on the envelope to the current logo back in 2003. He tells the team. The logo on the envelope in Boots’s hand is the logo Chasung Food Company adopted to change its image in 2003, but that logo changed again, after only 8 months, because the company was sold. In other words, that envelope is from 11 years ago, and it's highly likely that what was inside the envelope was from 11 years ago. So, the money that Slimy handed over probably wasn't for his life, but for whatever is in that envelope.

Gook declares that it’s giving him goosebumps. Soo Sun declares that it makes sense. Dae Goo points at the envelope on the table and says that it’s the same envelope as from the video. Eung Do picks up the manila envelope and looks at it. Dae Goo declares that whatever was in that envelope is an important clue and that there’s a high chance that Slimy gave it to Moon Bae after the money was paid.

Eung Do declares that the now question is… what was in that envelope? Soo Sun stares at the envelope and wonders if it's an old cell phone? The size also seems to match. Gook wonders if the 11 year old phone might have something recorded on it. An 11 year old phone. Really? I’m gonna be mad if the writer made this mess up. 11 years ago phones just started getting smart. I remember my phone from 11 years ago. I don’t remember ever having recording capability. Maybe it’s a really smart fancy phone. But back to the scene.

Gook has just wondered if the cell might have something recorded on it… Dae Goo snaps his fingers and declares that that might just be it! I groan. The team concludes that Moon Bae would've paid whatever the cost to obtain those recordings. Couldn’t it have been another *recorder?* Eung Do declares that this is what Boots left for Pan Suk. Boots is telling them that it's a crucial lead. Eung Do takes a phone and tests what it looks like when in the bag. It seems they match. Of course they do. Groan! Eung Do declares that now all they have to figure out is whether the evidence still exists or not. He suggests the team set a trap.

Chasung’s 45th general stockholders' meeting ends. Men leave, angrily waving papers. Ji Il leaves and is enthusiastically greeted by a group of people, all smiling and bowing. He calls Ae Yun and apologizes for not consulting with her first, but he’s transferred all the stocks he had to the employees. They own the company now. That's actually really honorable of him - he took what Moon Bae said to heart and is trying to make it right. Ae Yun’s reaction? She’s not happy. Is he crazy?! How could he do this without consulting with her first?! She starts screaming as she asks what Ji Il did with the stocks she gave to Ki Jae?! She finds out that Ki Jae followed his dad’s example. I wonder how that kid's going to like being broke. Well, he still has his house... He probably has a trust fund or something, too.

Moon Bae arrives and asks Ae Yun what’s going on. Ji Il changed the company ownership to the employees?! What about her stocks? He didn't touch them, right? Woodenly, Ae Yun declares that Ki Jae has given most of his stocks to the employees as well. Moon Bae starts yelling at Ae Yun for Ki Jae having her stocks. She yells back that it’s his fault! If Moon Bae hadn't have put her in a mental hospital, then she wouldn't have given Ki Jae her stocks! Moon Bae ruined her life!!!

Moon Bae yells at Ae Yun, asking what’s going to happen to him?! Because that’s the most important thing. Ae Yun screams back, asking why he’s asking her?! This all happened because of him! Give her back her life! Give her back her stocks! Moon Bae’s head looks like it’s about to explode.

Moon Bae goes to his office. He’s having a bad day. I feel bad for him-- wait, no I don't. Not even a little. Not at all. Text message: a picture of the envelope. Phone call. Dae Goo calling. He tells Moon Bae that Slimy agreed to hand over the cell phone. Angrily, Moon Bae declares that there's no way he would. Dae Goo suggests Moon Bae turn himself in. That way, he can lessen his sentence. Moon Bae orders Dae Goo to hang up. Then he looks at the picture of the envelope again and declares that Slimy wouldn't dare.

Slimy’s walking to his car, protesting to Moon Bae that it’s not true! There's no way he would do that. How has this guy not been disbarred by now? He admitted to delivering a hit order. Moon Bae asks how Slimy could dare to betray him! Slimy protests, fearfully, that it’s a misunderstanding. He took care of it after he received it. Moon Bae wants to know, if that’s the case, how the police knew that it was a cell phone. Moon Bae hisses that if Slimy wants to live, he’ll bring the phone immediately! Slimy looks at his phone as Moon Bae hangs up. Then he wonders, could they possibly have found it? He jumps in his car and drives off, with Gook and Soo Sun following him.

Slimy stops at a bookstore. He rushes in. Evidently he knows the owner since she recognized him and called him Hwa Shin-a. He rushes in back and digs out a box from behind the books. It’s still there, the envelope and the phone. Gook and Soo Sun are watching from outside. Tae Il arrives. Gook gets an idea. He tells Tae Il to take off his jacket. Gook puts it on and goes up to Slimy’s car. He pretends to be polishing the window. Owner sees him. He bows to her respectfully and she smiles. Slimy tells his *Noona* that he’s going. He doesn’t stop to talk.

Outside, Gook is still polishing the window with the sleeve of Tae Il’s jacket – and Tae Il is not happy that his clothes are getting dirty. Slimy gets in his car and Gook pretends to be promoting a club. As Slimy drives away, Gook bows deeply to him. Then he goes inside and tells Noona that Slimy said he forgot to take something and asked Gook to get it. Clever! Gook, I'm impressed. She tells him that it’s in the back room. Gook starts looking. He notices that some of the books in the bookcase are out of place. He pulls them out and finds the box. He finds the phone and puts his hands together in a ‘thank you!’ Then he puts the stuff back. Without looking to see what else is inside the box. There could be some other incriminating stuff in there. Gook declares to Noona that it was on the desk and bids her goodbye. And she thinks that he’s such a nice young man.

Gook heads back to the kids, who have been joined by Dae Goo, and leaves them in suspense for a minute. Then he declares ‘Success!’ There is much rejoicing until… two vans of men arrive and climb out carrying bats. Dae Goo yells at them to run, so they do. Chase ensues.

Dae Goo and Soo Sun end up at a dead end. They’re roughed up and brought to a cellar where a drunk Moon Bae sits in a high-backed chair. He tells Dae Goo that he said that if Dae Goo got too hot, he’d burn to death in his own flames. Moon Bae orders his guy to check to see if it's the right cell phone. Which I think they would have done before bringing Dae Goo and Soo Sun to Moon Bae. But I’m using logic. Silly me.

From the laptop, the phone plays:
Boots: So you want me to make it look like a robbery and to get rid of the evidence left by his daughter, right?
Moon Bae: It must look like Ae Yun never went there. You understands what I'm saying , right?
Boots: Yes.
Moon Bae: In case the woman is alive, get rid of her without a trace. And, find the son and get rid of him, too. She should have a son who's a 2nd year in middle school. It's better to nip it in the bud before it gets worse.
At that, Dae Goo lunges for Moon Bae, but doesn’t get very far. Moon Bae tells Dae Goo that he should have been disposed of 11 years ago. Moon Bae declares that he’s lost many things because of Dae Goo. Shredding Dae Goo to pieces won't appease his anger. Another swig of brandy. Moon Bae curses Boots and says that if only Boots had gotten rid of Dae Goo properly back then! Dae Goo says that it was Moon Bae who ordered Boots and Chief killed, right? Moon Bae declares that that is something that Dae Goo should just keep being curious about. If Dae Goo learns the truth, then he might feel more wronged on his way to the afterlife. As opposed to now, you mean? Moon Bae chuckles and orders his men to kill them both. They need to do it properly this time.

Moon Bae gets up to leave the basement. Dae Goo stops him with a “wait.” Dae Goo says that he’ll do himself. He’s the only one that Moon Bae wants dead. He’ll kill himself so that Moon Bae’s hands won’t be stained with his blood. Moon Bae just needs to let Soo Sun go. Aw. Soo Sun asks him what he’s doing. Dae Goo declares that Moon Bae doesn't need to keep killing people for no reason. Especially since he’s a suspect in the Police Chief's murder case, right?

Moon Bae looks like he’s going to leave again so Dae Goo begs Moon Bae to let Soo Sun go. He'll kill himself so it looks like a suicide. He’ll put the gun to his forehead and shoot. Soo Sun says Dae Goo’s name, in a way that says to stop. Dae Goo doesn’t take his eyes off Moon Bae. He asks Soo Sun if she heard him, right? He’s going to end his own life. She must testify to that in the future. She asks him if he’s gone crazy. But Moon Bae stops and says that Dae Goo’s offer doesn't sound too bad. Moon Bae says that if Dae Goo really wants to, he’ll let Dae Goo do it. He smiles and nods to his men.

Soo Sun starts to protest. They drag her away. She yells at Dae Goo, asking if he really thinks this is protecting her. Does he think she can live properly afterwards if he does this? She reminds him, crying, that he told her not to die in front of him. So, what is he doing to her? Sobbing, she tells him, Ji Yong, that she loves him. And that got him. Not the ‘I love you’ but she said it to him, Ji Yong. And that got me. Soo Sun says ‘I love you’ several times and tells Ji Yong to stay alive no matter what. He has to stay alive no matter what! Okay? They drag her away as she yells Ji Yong’s name over and over. And I can't see at the moment.

Moon Bae sits. A gun sits on the floor in front of Dae Goo. He picks it up and puts it to his temple, looking at Moon Bae. Smiling, Moon Bae tells Dae Goo to go ahead. Don't take too long. He has to keep his promise like a hot-blooded youth. Dae Goo says that he wants to ask Moon Bae one thing, before he dies. Moon Bae killed Chief, right? Moon Bae smiles and calls Dae Goo a stubborn bastard. Does Dae Goo really want to know that badly? That's right (he killed Chief). As he told Dae Goo before, it was an unfortunate sacrifice that was made because of that moron’s (Boots) actions. Dae Goo asks if Moon Bae killed Boots too. Why does Moon Bae need to hold back in front of someone who is going to die?

Arrogantly, Moon Bae says that Dae Goo is correct again. He killed Boots. Is Dae Goo satisfied, now? Moon Bae tells Dae Goo to not test his patience any longer and pull the trigger now! Staredown. Dae Goo drops the gun to the floor. Moon Bae jumps out of his chair and demands to know what Dae Goo is doing! Dae Goo stands up and tells Moon Bae to just shoot him. He doesn't plan on handing his life over to Moon Bae like that. Moon Bae yells that Dae Goo is a bastard! He grabs a gun and shoves it in Dae Goo’s face. How dare Dae Goo trick him! It’s about time that Moon Bae actually got his hands dirty. Almost smiling, Dae Goo tells Moon Bae that that’s a great idea. If he’s going to die, then he should at least let Moon Bae stain his hands with blood again. Dae Goo angrily yells at Moon Bae to kill him! Shoot!

Gook, Tae Il and Eung Do are in the van, driving. Gook gets a message on his phone. It’s streaming video of Moon Bae holding a gun on Dae Goo. Dae Goo starts to drive faster!

Dae Goo tells Moon Bae that everything he just said was transmitted, showing Moon Bae the camera. Dae Goo declares that he might die, but there will be evidence left that will be able to prosecute Moon Bae. At least there will be evidence that won't let Moon Bae go free. Moon Bae calls Dae Goo a rat bastard! Yes! Not just a bastard but a rat bastard! Love it! Stick it, Moon Bae!

And right then, there’s a punching noise and Moon Bae’s guy falls down the stairs, followed by a guy in a straw hat. It’s Pan Suk to the rescue! In a straw hat with a chin strap. Pan Suk takes care of one of Moon Bae’s guys and points a gun at Moon Bae, telling him to throw away the gun. Moon Bae doesn’t. Pan Suk says that Moon Bae doesn't seem to understand the situation. He needs to throw away the gun! Moon Bae’s distracted. Dae Goo lunges for the gun and a struggle ensues. Please don’t let Pan Suk get shot.

Eung Do arrives with a bunch of other policemen. He tells Gook and Tae Il that he’ll give the signal, then they need to head in quickly. There’s a gun shot. Rush the house to find Dae Goo putting the cuffs on a sullen Moon Bae. Dae Goo reads Moon Bae his rights. The other police take Moon Bae and his thugs away. Eung Do asks when Pan Suk arrived. And where’s Soo Sun? Pan Suk shrugs. Eung Do looks at Pan Suk’s gun. A BB gun! He protests that this was all he could do when he was suspended. It’s more useful than they'd think. Eung Do starts to laugh.

Pan Suk asks what Dae Goo was planning on doing if he hadn't have come? Was he really planning on dying? Gook wants to know what Pan Suk is talking about, but Pan Suk just says that it’s nothing and tells Gook to get things organized. Soo Sun hurries down the stairs, practically crying. The rest of the team leaves as Dae Goo and Soo Sun look at each other. She tells him that if he ever does that again, he’ll die at her hands first. Then she goes and hugs him and cries. They hug each other and Dae Goo sighs because it’s over.

Dae Goo unloads a smiling Moon Bae from the van, with the press there. Why is he smiling? Has he lost his mind? Frog is in Moon Bae’s office with his men, collecting everything. He has a warrant to do so. Split screen showing Slimy and Ae Yun being arrested. Ki Jae freaks out as Ae Yun is taken away. She actually looks touched at her son's pain. Maybe she'll finally be a human being.

The gang is eating by the soda machines. Gook and Tae Il can’t believe they caught Moon Bae. Tae Il declares that when Dae Goo was smashing notebooks with the baseball bat, he thought for sure that everything was over. Gook agrees about Dae Goo being a loose cannon. Soo Sun can’t believe that even though it feels like they’re freshmen (it’s really that word, ‘freshmen’ and somehow DramaFever translated that as Power Rangers), they caught the likes of Yoo Moon Bae? Dae Goo quietly drinks his banana milk. Tae Il asks if they are really the kids who made Gangnam Police Station a disaster zone? Gook laughs and says that he remembers Pan Suk back then. “I declare this a disaster area.” Dae Goo asks if Pan Suk’s disciplinary hearing is tomorrow. Soo Sun sadly stirs her food and asks if this is how they’re going to have to say goodbye to their Legend

Disciplinary Hearing. And seriously, they should go easy on him. He was trying to take down his boss, who was crooked, and the guy who was giving the orders to his boss. Plus Frog has a vendetta against Pan Suk and wasn't about to let them get to the bottom of things. They ask Pan Suk to start his defense. Pan Suk says that all their investigations were blocked. The team members felt a great deal of despair. The media briefing was the only choice he could make at that moment, so his kids could shake off their despair and stand up. He wanted to be a source of support for them. This is the job of a sunbae and the role of an adult. Despite that, divulging this information publicly was indisputably wrong. As such, he will willingly receive whatever punishment they hand out. Noble to the end.

They give him his walking papers. Really? Idiots. That means no more Pan Suk-Dae Goo bromance. They could have at least just given him a demotion. Everyone walks Pan Suk out. Toad tells Pan Suk goodbye and stuffs something in his shirt pocket. It’s a sachet. Toad declares that Pan Suk’s aura is jinxed! It’s a red bean amulet. Toad tells Pan Suk to be careful. Pan Suk smiles. He thanks Toad for everything that Toad’s done for him. Eung Do declares that he’ll be sure to visit him during vacation. So maybe he just got transferred? Pan Suk answers that if Eung Do has another child, he needs to let Pan Suk know. Gook runs forward and hugs Pan Suk. Pan Suk laughs and tells Gook it’s grossing him out. Then he hugs Gook again.

Pan Suk looks at his kids and smiles. He looks at Sa Kyung, who signals and mouths that he should call her. He tells them to head inside and gets in his car. Eung Do hides his face so Pan Suk won’t see him cry. Pan Suk drives away. They head inside and Eung Do spots something that Pan Suk left on his desk. Dae Goo takes off running with it, chasing Pan Suk down. Pan Suk asks if Dae Goo ran all the way there just do give him that? Dae Goo shakes his head no. And now I am crying. Pan Suk asks if Dae Goo has something to say.

Dae Goo declares that he’s really thankful. That gets Pan Suk. For many reasons, he’s really thankful. Dae Goo tells him goodbye and salutes him. Pan Suk salutes back, touched. Car horn. It’s a green light. Dae Goo tells Pan Suk to go. As Pan Suk drives off, he calls Dae Goo a rascal, because Dae Goo made him cry. He tells Ji Yong-a to take care.

[One Year Later]

Pan Suk is wearing a policeman’s uniform, checking out a chicken coop that’s been robbed. The owner rants about the guy who did this! She’s going to wring his neck when she catches him. Pan Suk tells the Halmeoni, that based on the hole in the screen, the chickens might have left on their own. She tells at him that they were stolen and asks *Chief Seo* if he’s suspicious of her chickens?! He laughs and says that he’s not suspicious of them. Pan Suk wonders if they should hang a CCTV around the coop. Halmeoni doesn’t see why they would need to do that. Postman rides up and tells Pan Suk that he’s got a package.

Provincial Police Station. It looks like it just has a scooter. It’s got 2 other officers. Pan Suk sits at his desk and asks if they ate. They did; they had jjajangmyun (noodles with black bean sauce). He gives them a hard time because they always eat jjajangmyun. Pan Suk opens his box. It has a picture of the gang at the station, with Gook giving Tae Il bunny ears. Everyone else is normal. Pan Suk smiles and declares that they’re all the same.

A letter from Soo Sun. She asks if he’s been well. He replies that he has. Craziness in the squad room as Soo Sun’s letter declares that Gangnam Police Station is still the same, and his kids are all doing well. Toad is now Chief. Shot of him at his desk laughing with someone on the phone. Squadroom. Someone runs into Toad accidentally and he’s *nice* about it. Soo Sun says that he’s nice all the time now. Pan Suk giggles at that thought.

Eung Do received a presidential award for catching an escaped prisoner while arresting a pick pocket. Eung Do sits at Pan Suk’s desk now. Soo Sun says Eung Do’s wife is pregnant with his sixth child. Eung Do proudly shows off the sonogram. Pan Suk mutters about how virile Eung Do is. Seriously. That poor woman just *had* a baby and she's pregnant again.

Tae Il and Gook are working a case. Looking at a skull, Tae Il declares that the victim had Down’s Syndrome. Soo Sun declares that he’s all about forensic science these days. Girl comes up and shyly gives *Gook* a folder. The note inside – in the shape of a heart – tells him to meet her at the restaurant at 7. She calls him ‘honey.’ Soo Sun declares that Gook is in love. She walks away with a grin and Gook mutters about how pretty she is, laughing and covering his mouth. Pan Suk declares that Gook finally did it. He did well.

Soo Sun creeps up to where Dae Goo is sleeping in the evidence room. Why the evidence room? She quietly whispers “pah-te-nuh” in his ear. He doesn’t move. She leans forward to kiss him and he opens his eyes. He calls her Soybean Powder. Embarrassed she pulls backward, saying he wasn’t asleep. He tells her that this is an assault. She mutters how it can be an assault. She gets up to leave but he grabs her arm and won’t let her up. They start to kiss when two other detectives come in looking for a wallet. The pair hide, with Dae Goo’s arms around Soo Sun.

The guys find the wallet quickly and leave. Soo Sun punches Dae Goo and tells him that they almost got caught! He doesn’t look worried. They end up kissing. Soo Sun declares that she and Dae Goo are getting along well. Pan Suk giggles over how she put that, “Getting along well.” He declares that they’re sly rabbits! Soo Sun promises that they will take some time off soon to come and visit. She really wants to see him. His kid forever, Eo Soo Sun. They made me cry again!

Pan Suk gets a phone call. It’s Sa Kyung, who’s come to visit. He runs to meet her with a big goofy smile on his face. He immediately grabs her hand to hold it. She has a big smile for him. Just then, the chicken thief drives by on a scooter. Pan Suk casts a furtive glance at Sa Kyung and then takes off after Chicken Thief. Sa Kyung adjusts her purse and takes off running after Pan Suk. Pan Suk catches up with the Chicken Thief. Sa Kyung laughs at him as they catch their breath.

Back at the precinct, our gang is hard at work. A robbery in progress call come in. Ending shot of the gang leaving to take care of criminals. Gook coolly twirls his keys. They have their holsters on and their faces are determined.

Thoughts

What to say to wrap up the show? I’m glad they caught Moon Bae, although that smile he wore makes me wonder if he lost his sanity. I have thoroughly enjoyed this show. I can’t think of one (besides Boys Over Flowers) that I cried this much over, but it was a really good cry. I wish, however, that we could have seen just a little more of the fun stuff. I’m glad that they did the little epilogue part, but I just wish that it had been longer.

It’s good to see that Sa Kyung and Pan Suk are together now (holding hands) and that she doesn’t have a problem with the passionate cop that he is. When I think about where he was at in the beginning, jaded, bitter, sad, and those ending images of him happy as a provincial cop, putting in everything to run after a chicken thief, it gets me misty, because he’s changed so much. So have all of our family. Except maybe Eung Do. But he was always solid and cheerful. He didn’t really need to change. The rest of them, from Dae Goo to Soo Sun to Tae Il to Gook, they’ve all had their arcs where they’ve grown up and it makes me really happy to see how they went from being alone and unhappy to being a family and being happy. It’s nice to know that Soo Sun and Dae Goo are still together, but they really need to stop hiding their relationship. It’s been a year. Obviously it hasn’t hampered their ability to do their job, so it being out in the open isn’t going to change anything.

Thanks, Cha Seung Won, Lee Seung Gi and Go Ara for fabulous performances! You did a phenomenal job in being your characters and saying things without saying a word. You worked hard!
