Episode opens with a haunting song playing and no other sound as we see Jang Mi furiously hitting Ki Tae over and over. It’s a fight with finger waving and frustrated arm throwing. Ki Tae gives Jang Mi a hard head poke. She mouths a rebellious, “what?” and Ki Tae answers back. He walks toward her, messing with his collar, and shoves her shoulder hard. She takes off running and he sighs in frustration. He runs after her and catches her, yelling, “What!” More furious shouting by Ki Tae with Jang Mi looking afraid.
What psychologically manipulative head trip was that? Especially since their relationship is supposed to be becoming HAPPY!!!
Switch to Hoon Dong and Hyun Hee leaving their wedding. Everyone cheering, clapping. Ki Tae is desperately searching the crowd for Jang Mi.
♬ There’s nothing more to lose ♬

He tries calling Jang Mi again.
♬ The one tear drop that is you, fills my eyes ♬
♬ Love, that one easy word, ♬

Answering machine. Of course, he hangs up rather than leave a message.
Ki Tae lets the phone hand drop and looks down (panting) defeated.
♬ So like a fool, I let it fall down ♬
Jang Mi’s made it back to the reception. She’s looking for Ki Tae. And while I should be happy here, they showed that huge blow up at the beginning of the episode so I’m going to be dreading it all episode.
Okay, I confess, I peeked ahead and it’s a writer fake out, in case anyone else was worried. Man, that scene was scary. Not cool, writers, not cool.
♬ (Because it's you) I can breathe ♬
♬ (Because it's you) I can stand it ♬
Jang Mi realizes that he’s gone. Which means he’s gone to Se Ah. She’s lost him.

Yeo Reum just happens to be randomly walking along at the top of the hill that Jang Mi just ran down. He sees her. His hair looks different. I don’t like it as much.
Yeo Reum cringes and thinks about the last time they spoke. They’re at a coffee shop. Jang Mi slides an envelope across the table. She tells him that it’s 5,000,000 won. He asks why she’s giving it to him. Wounded, hurting Jang Mi says that she should have given it to him in the first place. She’s the one who ruined the truffles. He picks it and puts it in front of her, saying that he’s not accepting it. She grabs his arm, tells him to stop being like that and tells him to take it. The grab of his arm makes Yeo Reum wince and she lets go as he grabs his shoulder.
Jang Mi tells Yeo Reum to let her see. He has a bandage on his shoulder. She asks why he’s like that and he slaps her hands away, covering the bandage up with his shirt. Not looking at her, he coldly declares that he moved something like 3000 sheets of bricks. She can’t believe he’s working at a construction site. Still not looking at her, he says that he’s going to pay back Ki Tae's money. That way he won't feel embarrassed in front of her.
Jang Mi apologizes and said that because she had an absurd dream, she hurt everyone, including him. He whispers that he’s okay, though. Are you going to apologize for your complicity in setting her up so that Mom would see you hug her? Jang Mi says that it was a sweet dream that will never come back into her life. She says that she was grateful.
Jang Mi stands up. And I realize that she’s wearing a Star Wars Episode Two t-shirt. She goes, even though Yeo Reum says her name. He gets up, grabs the check and goes after him. She ignores him when he calls her name. He runs up to her and stops her, telling her to take. She says she’s doing it so that she can make herself feel at ease over what’s happened. She gives it back. Yeo Reum asks if anyone told her to be at ease. If she’s going to go, go uncomfortably. Gives the check.
And now there’s lots of passing the check back and forth. She says she told him not to move things like wall bricks and to find his dream. He replies that at least he’s young. What is she going to do at her age with no money? At her age? It’s not like she’s sixty! She can’t believe he said that, but she tells him to listen to his noona. He asks Noona if she really has that much money. Yeo Reum sighs and says, “Okay then.” He starts to rip up the check. Jang Mi yells at him to stop. That’s her severance pay! He’s surprised. She says that she’s worried enough about her future. She doesn’t have energy to worry about him, so please take it and go. Then she walks off.
Back in the present, Yeo Reum wonders what Jang Mi is doing. Since she just sadly standing there, staring straight ahead. He walks down over to her and waves his hand in from of her face. It takes a minute for it to register. She looks at him and asks why he’s there. He says that he was invited by Hoon Dong. He asks why she’s there like that. Do you really not have a clue about how you blew up her life? Jang Mi says that she was going to send Ki Tae away coolly, but she ended up making a scene by herself. He tells her that if she’s finished making a scene, then they should go. She’s clapped for someone else to be happy, so now they should go find their happiness.
Because she didn’t find Ki Tae, Jang Mi goes. They end up at a barren what-should-be restaurant. She asks why they’re there and he tells her to just to look first. As they enter the main room, he smiles at the ceiling and asks what she thinks. It's a killer, isn't it? She asks what he’s looking at. He replies that he’ll be the chef and she’ll be the manager. She’s confused. He looks at her – And maybe that explains his more business-like hair – and says they should run a business together. He’ll accept her 5,000,000 won as an investment.
She asks how he can open a restaurant with 5,000,000 won. He said he got an investment from elsewhere, too, but he won’t say who from. Ki Tae? She asks if he scammed someone. He can’t believe she’s think he’d scam. He says that it was an investment that he earned by showing off his lethal cooking skills. In a cooking contest with Ki Tae. It’s totally Ki Tae. She tells him that the world isn't that easy. There's no such thing as a free ride in the world and the location is a bit bad. She wants to know what he was believing when he did this.
Yeo Reum tells her that he believed her. He started dreaming because of her. Aw. So she needs to take responsibility. She sighs and says that she explained that she woke up from that dream. He starts to say something else, but she stops him, saying that it’s a relief that he’s found his dream. She congratulates him and says that he will do well for sure. She leaves and he shakes his head at her as she goes.
♬ Inside the square bus ♬
♬ I faintly hear a well-known song ♬
♬ At some point (falling into you) ♬
As she walks across the bridge, she thinks that she understands a little why people love in such a cool way. Next we see of her, she’s got a new haircut – above her shoulders – and she’s buying a new phone.
♬ You know but pretend you don’t, I fall in love, ♬
It’s the same phone that Ki Tae gave her, which makes her think of him doing it. She shakes the memory away and think that those cool people don’t rely on anyone or expect anything. Leaving the store, she’s walking and she thinks that it isn't because she wants to be alone but she still have to live, even if she is alone.
Jang Mi enters a clothing store, carrying an application as she thinks that now that she’s woken up from her dream, she see the reality in front of her eyes. She introduces herself to a woman who is probably the manager, with a deep bow, too. Manager mutters that Jang Mi is a bit old. Next interview. Jang Mi says that even though she’s a bit older, she has a lot of experience as well. He mentions how she got fired at her last job.
Next Manager, with Jang Mi saying that there was a bit of a scandalous mishap but it was a precious experience that became her blood and skin. What a great way to say that it taught her a life lesson. So vivid. Manager appreciates that Jang Mi says it won’t happen again, but people don't change that easily. As she walks away from the store, Jang Mi thinks that all the everyday obligations that she ignored while chasing love, they have come crowding in all at once as if they were waiting to stab her. Switch to a sad Oma, sitting on a couch in a hospital. Don’t tell me she has cancer.
Ki Tae’s office. A patient is complaining because she paid big bucks to have her surgery done, but no one has recognized that she got plastic surgery done. No one around her is saying that she got prettier. It doesn't show at all. But Ki Tae is lost in thought. She gets his attention and tells him she wants another surgery. She doesn’t want a natural look. She wants a dramatic look. He tries to explain why it wouldn’t be a good idea because of her prior surgeries but she cuts him off and says she doesn’t care, she just wants it done.
Ki Tae’s face flickers with momentary irritation but he contains it. He tells her that she doesn’t have much tissue left around her eyes for surgery. If she keeps doing this, her eyes may not close. She gasps. Then she stops and sarcastically smiles, telling Ki Tae that he has skills. She says that he should go ahead and throw in her nose, too. She also wants this popular… she can’t remember the name, but Ki Tae knows what she’s trying to think of: tissue grafting. He humors her request to look at her nose and see if a tissue graft will work. He says that her nose is still hard, so she needs to wait two years for the area to stabilize.
She can’t believe that he expects her to the next two years looking like that. She asks what kind of clinic is this that the service is so bad? It would be malpractice for him to just do it, stupid. Besides, you’re just chasing fads. Boy, Ki Tae has to deal with women like this all the time. She protests that if the customer isn't satisfied, then he has to do it. Not that he did the first time. Ki Tae throws down his pen, trying not to let loose on this woman. Not having Jang Mi around is really trying Ki Tae's patience for other people.
She gets a threatening tone in her voice that reminds me of Se Ah. Woman says that she’s a blogger. Does he know how many visitors she has on her blog on a daily basis? Does he want her to get his hospital shut down? Ki Tae is clenching his fist to control himself. He calmly, but tight-lipped, says that he’s going to give her his opinion as an medical expert. She shouldn’t fix her face but something else. Rather than a plastic surgeon, she needs to go to a psychiatrist. Woman is shocked, but Ki Tae is done. He dramatically gets up and goes over to the door. He opens the door and tells her she should leave now. He’s sure she’s busy with writing malicious comments on the internet.
He motions for her to get out of his office! She walks up to him and tells him to wait and see. Wait and see. Wait and see. She's a power blogger. Just wait and see! As she leaves, he scrubs ear – squeak sound effect – and acts like he’s tossing what he just pulled out after her. Love that! I’m going to have to remember that!
Ki Tae heads downstairs and is greeted by Hoon Dong, who now has brown hair and is wearing a checked blazer. Ki Tae asks who he is. Hoon Dong proudly dances around and asks what he thinks. It’s his honey's creation. Aw, she’s going into fashion design. He dances some more. Ki Tae clucks at him for not coming and greeting his hyungnim when he got back from his honeymoon. Hoon Dong stops dancing. He apologizes and says that since he got married, he's been living trapped under his wife's control so it's the taste of death. As opposed to HDM’s control…
Hyun Hee pops up, smiling, and asks, “What kind of a taste, Oppa?” Hoon Dong replies it’s a honey taste, very sweet. It's so sweet, he can't keep his head straight. The tongue he pokes into his cheek and the bulging eyes when his face turns away from Hyun Hee says that it’s driving him crazy. Ki Tae says that he’s hungry. Hoon Dong should just give him anything that can be made quickly. Hoon Dong mutters about Ki Tae thinking this was some kind of Chinese fast food place. Hoon Dong gives Hyun Hee a smile and heads back for the food.
Hyun Hee joins Ki Tae at his table and remarks that he’s still eating and living well after making Jang Mi feel like that. There’s some scorn in her voice, scolding. He asks what she means, ‘like that.’ And his voice isn’t defensive, it’s concerned. Aw. Hyun Hee asks if he’s avoiding Jang Mi and acting like he doesn't know her. Ki Tae clears his throat and says that the one doing the avoiding is Jang Mi. She changed her phone number and left the place she was working. So that means that he went there looking for her.
Hyun Hee asks Ki Tae what he means by she left her job. She got fired because of him. Ki Tae doesn’t understand. Because of him? Hyun Hee says that it’s because she got sucked into Mom’s hair-grabbing fight. Ki Tae can’t believe what he’s hearing. What he was thinking was wrong. She got fired. Hyun Hee says that he really didn't know anything, like she can't believe it. Did he know that her parents are in the middle of a divorce? Ki Tae is definitely shocked by that. Hyun Hee sighs and says that he’s too much. Too much. When he needed Jang Mi, he clung tight and took all she could give, but now he’s totally indifferent to her, like she's chewed up gum stuck on his shoe.
Hoon Dong arrives with the food, telling Ki Tae to stuff his face. Ki Tae is too stunned to respond. Hyun Hee grabs it off the table and tells Hoon Dong not to give it to him. It's a waste. She takes the food and leaves. Hoon Dong mouths at Ki Tae, asking what happened. Ki Tae just grimaces and doesn’t say anything.
Jang Mi’s house. She sits in the living room, listening to her parents. Oma wants for them to give up the lawsuit and settle amicably. She says that she wasted 30 years of my life. She doesn't have any time left to waste anymore. She is sick. Shaking my fist at the writers. Appa nods as he says that Oma doesn't need him, but she needs his money. She sighs and sourly says that he’s right. She needs the money.
Appa gets up and walks into his room. He dumps Oma’s clothes out of the suitcase and puts his own in. Jang Mi can’t believe that he’s now going to leave when Oma’s returned. She says that in a way, there's no better match than them made in Heaven. They fought their whole life because of money and when they get divorced they can't even cleanly break up because of money. She brightly, full of sarcasm, says that it’s is really beautiful. Her parents are really admirable.
Oma asks Jang Mi why’s she at home at this time of day. Why isn’t she at the department store? Jang Mi says that she’s looking for another job. Oma sighs and says that there’s no way that the woman who has no luck with her husband will have luck with her daughter. Irritated, Jang Mi declares that she’ll earn lots of money for Oma and leaves.
Jang Mi is at the Chicken Shack. She sighs. She goes to get a bottle of Soju but stops herself. She should quit drinking. Debate internally of whether she’s going to drink it. Ki Tae enters and says that if she quits drinking, she wouldn't be Joo Jang Mi. She turns around and look at him, not believing that he’s there. Uncomfortable, he asks for them to talk. She shakes her head and blinks several times, like she’s trying to convince herself that he’s actually there. He asks if they should have a drink?
Jang Mi is trying to keep her indifferent face on. She says that she doesn't have anything to say to him. He can’t believe that she just said that. But she sits. After he sits, he says that he heard she got fired from the department store because of him. She tells him not to worry about. He mentions that he heard about her parents. She tells him that it doesn't concern him. He says that he wants to compensate her, make up for it somehow, but... She repeats what he said: Compensate? Ki Tae says that, of course, he’s just taking responsibility for what he should, so she shouldn’t feel burdened. Way to protect yourself from really being vulnerable, Ki Tae. Hoon Dong just needs to tell him that she likes him so that he’ll get up the courage to confess.
Jang Mi answers that she said, it's fine. He should just go and stop disrupting their business. He sighs and says that she don't even have customers. She should not being like this and just come with him for a bit. She replies that if there are no customers, then she should wait, that way at least one more chicken will be sold. Buy all her chicken, Ki Tae. Then she won’t be able to argue. Buy it! Jang Mi sighs and asks how he could understand the heart of a storekeeper whose only customers are flies? It’s so completely different from his hospital where people come and line up, holding money, it's too different.
Ki Tae must have heard me. He tells Jang Mi that he’ll sell it for her. He tells her to give him everything there. She asks if he’s joking and he snaps back that he’s not joking around! He wants to confess! Make it right, since it was all his idea! Jang Mi says that just because she sells chicken, does he think her my time can be bought with a few chicken pieces? She doesn't want to waste her precious time on him anymore.
Ki Tae tries to protest that he’s trying to be considerate and Jang Mi tells him not to. She just barely escaped him and she found the real Joo Jang Mi. Ouch. The real Jang Mi is broken with no dreams. Ouch. Jang Mi stands and tells him to please leave. Hurt, he looks up at her and nods. Not saying anything else, he gets up and leaves the restaurant. Outside, though, he turns around and looks at her with longing as she wipes down a table.
Ki Tae at work, reading Plastiwoman’s blog: “Just because he's a doctor, he has so much arrogance and his sense of superiority stabs the sky.” Ki Tae mutters that he is arrogant, but he doesn't have a sense of superiority. It's because he is superior. And I laugh. Plastiwoman writes: “The person who should make a woman look beautiful doesn't understand a woman's heart.” He makes a face – because he knows that one’s true. Plastiwoman: “He seems like a jerk who lives in a world by himself.” He mutters to himself that overall that's true and shifts uncomfortably in his chair.
Nurse asks what they should do. Ki Tae jumps. He probably forgot she was there. Nurse asks if they should sue Plastiwoman for defamation of character and ask her to take the post down. Ki Tae just wants to wait and see first. He asks Nurse if a rumor that's on the internet will last that long.
Aunt is showing Mom what’s going on. She declares that it's no joke. When she searches the plastic surgeon Gong Ki Tae, there's tons of malicious comments saying that after doing surgery he doesn't take responsibility... Also when she looks at the searches related to Gong Ki Tae: it’s 'violent language,' 'slander,' and 'rude words.' Aunt shakes her head and says that she doesn’t know what Ki Tae is thinking. He’s not doing anything at all to counter it. She worries about his practice shutting down. Aunt asks if she should investigate. Mom tells her to leave it alone. He'll figure out his own life.
Ki Tae’s in his car, sitting outside of Chicken Shack. Jang Mi comes out with a tennis racket swatter to chase off flies. He laughs as he watches her. He remembers what she said about him not understanding the heart of a storekeeper whose only customers are flies. He calls the Shack. Plugging his nose he asks if she’s Joo Jang Mi. Then he realizes that he’s not supposed to know her, so he asks if he’s reached Joo's Family Chicken. He has! He asks her to deliver to Yun Gyul Park. He orders 10 chickens. He asks if he can’t order that much but she joyfully says that he can. She’ll get it to him as soon as she can!
Jang Mi gets to work on the chicken, loads it onto her bike and takes off for the park. She didn’t ask how to identify her customer, so how is she going to find him in that park? At the park, she calls out, asking for the person who ordered the chicken. Guy on the bench yells that it was him. He pays her. Ki Tae watches as she rejoices over the 150,000 Won. She mutters that love should be fed to the dogs. Money is the best. After she’s gone, Ki Tae comes out and thanks Guy on Bench. Guy asks why Ki Tae didn’t just get it, but he says that he couldn’t. He tells Guy to take some. Guy wants to keep about half of it, saying that he eats a lot. Ki Tae lets him have it. How is he going to eat all that before it goes bad, anyway?
At home, Ki Tae is eating the chicken. With a few bottles of Coke. Or some soda with a red label. He looks around and plays basketball with the chicken legs and a trash cans. In the beginning, he was doing well, but it goes south. He sighs and wonders Jang Mi's doing.
Chicken Shack. Ki Tae’s calling again to order chicken. He starts to ask how she’s been but stops himself. Heh. Same park, same amount. Is it going to be the same guy, too? His plugged nose voice just really sounds funny. It’s making me laugh hard. I rewatched it. Same Guy. He tells her that she’s working hard. She sets the food down and Guy holds out a drink, declaring that “He says you should drink this.” Idiot! But she misses it. She thanks him for it being really refreshing. Guy looks over at Ki Tae hiding behind a bush. Ki Tae gives him a ‘good job’ signal.
Ki Tae takes the chicken to work… to Hoon Dong’s café… to Halmeoni. He tells Halmeoni to eat it without Mother knowing. If she finds out, she'll throw it away. Halmeoni conspiratorially says she gets it. Aunt and Halmeoni chow down on the chicken. Halmeoni says that she thinks that Ki Tae hasn’t forgotten Jang Mi yet. Aunt wants to know what that’s based on. Her antennae aren’t saying that they’re meeting at all. Halmeoni asks who Aunt thinks Joo's Family Chicken belongs to. It's Jang Mi's family. Halmeoni calls Ki Tae shy and says that he can't approach her with confidence so he's just circling in the vicinity near her. Aunt wonders why Ki Tae’s doing that instead of dealing with the hospital.
And Mom was eavesdropping. She goes and sits on the couch, just staring into space. Must be thinking. Dad comes out and says that he’s going for a brief walk. I *hate* how he calls her ‘Yeobo.’ It’s so insulting. She asks him to be back in 15 minutes. I wonder what Trollop has been doing, since Dad’s having to stay at home.
Dad sits – but not because he cares about Mom, but because he wants to get out of the house. He asks Mom if she doesn’t find it stuffy, just being home all day. She’s suffered a lot because of Ki Tae's situation. He suggests she take a trip overseas with Halmeoni and Aunt. She looks at him and and my sister? She looks at him and says that he’s trying to chase her out with some really sweet words. Dad looks down and then asks what Mom wants. He’ll do whatever it is. She says she wants a divorce. Yes! Kick him to the curb!
Dad is shocked. And Trollop’s going to hate being Dad’s maid. She’s going to dump him. Then, where will he be? Mom says that unless they divorce, neither of them can ever escape this house. And I don’t think she’s talking about the physical building. She gets up and leaves the room.
Hyun Hee’s giving Jang Mi the news: Ki Tae’s practice is in trouble. Hyun Hee says that it seems like it'll be ruined soon. Something about using violent language with a patient. Jang Mi can’t believe that one. Hyun Hee says that as the hospital's patients stopped coming, Bon Café’s sales dropped a lot too. She says that she thought that if she got married, she wouldn’t have to worry about money anymore. Since Bon Café’s in the red, she’s had to ask HDM for living expenses. Hyun Hee asks if Jang Mi’s listening. Jang Mi asks if Ki Tae's situation is really that bad. Hyun Hee tells her to look on the internet, if she’s so worried.
Yeo Reum’s place. Carpenters are busy at work. He’s reading about Ki Tae. “We Will Sue Gong Ki Tae Surgery!” He's surprised by the article.
Jang Mi is at café with Yeo Reum. She chugs some Soju, enjoying the taste. She says that she was going to quit drinking, too. Yeo Reum asks why she would try to abstain from such a good thing. She says that she has to, to gain something. Herself. She’s trying to look for herself. Yeo Reum clucks at her and says that she’s right there. He asks what she's trying to find more of. She says that this whole time, there was no her. She only thought about others. She says that she needs to be alone – like it’s a good thing. Yeo Reum asks why. She says that she can't live as a that character who just makes a scene and she doesn't want to rely on someone else. He asks why she doesn’t want to do that.
Jang Mi snaps at him for questioning everything she says! She says that if she relies on someone once, then she'll keep having expectations of people. Yeo Reum asks why that’s a bad thing. Without any expectations, how will her life be interesting? She looks at him. He tells her that she was prettier when she made scenes. He looks at her and says that right now... she’s gotten a bit ugly.
Yeo Reum pours her another Soju and asks if they should help Ki Tae. She sputters, but it’s obvious she wants to. Yeo Reum says they’ll do it without Ki Tae finding out. How is Yeo Reum planning on doing that?
Ki Tae’s at home, looking at himself in the mirror. He wonders if his belly is sticking out. From all that fried chicken he’s been eating. I laugh as he plays with his belly and says that that much is cute. He sighs and says Jang Mi's name. Twice. The door bell rings and Ki Tae immediately thinks it’s Jang Mi. He’s excited. He looks around his apartment and tries to clean up all the evidence of the chicken that he’s been eating. Where’s neat-freak Ki Tae? He really is depressed. He yells that he’s coming. Finally, he opens the door with a smile, only to see that it’s Se Ah. The smile falls.
Se Ah declares that he’s alive. She walks past him into his apartment. She asks him what he’s doing? She let him go to Jang Mi. He tells her that, since she’s there already, she should take a seat. She’s not there to visit. Se Ah stops and tells him to sue for defamation of character. He mutters that when he looked at it, there was nothing she said that was wrong. Yes there was. You’re very professional with your patients. Se Ah says he should meet Plastiwoman and make a settlement. He asks if she wants him to meet that psycho patient again.
She says that, like Ki Tae said, Plastiwoman actually got treatment from a psychiatrist before because of her addiction to plastic surgery. Se Ah holds out the envelope she’s been carrying, saying that there's substantial evidence that he can use to counter her. Ki Tae says that he doesn’t want to. She asks him if it’s *him* that needs to go see a shrink. He tells her not to worry about it. His mind has never been at peace, like the way it is right now. She asks what he’s talking about.
Ki Tae sighs and said that he had no idea how not doing anything could be so productive. "I should work harder, more diligently. Become more special. More perfect." "More. More. More." He thought that thought something really terrible would happen if he didn’t keep trying to get more. But after actually stopping, he realizes that it's all nothing. He says that since he doesn't have to hear that he should make women prettier, it feels like he can live now. Boy, both of their lives suck now that they’ve lost the other person, and they keep telling themselves that it’s okay.
Ki Tae sighs and says he supposes that that's why a person has to learn how to let go of things that they're holding onto. She asks if the real reason is not really because he’s afraid that he won’t catch her? Because it might be embarrassing when he catches her if she won't stay caught. Se Ah says that she going to try meeting that woman. Not sure if she’s talking about Jang Mi or Plastiwoman. He tells her not to. He doesn't want her help. She says that it’s okay. She has nothing to be further embarrassed about. She leaves and Ki Tae sighs.
Jang Mi and Yeo Reum are eating dessert at a restaurant. I want their fruit drinks! She asks him what he’s going to do when he meets her. He says that he’ll think about it as they meet her. Jang Mi can’t believe that he’s going to go unprepared. He tells her to chill. He has some skill in moving women's hearts. Of course he does. She says that she’s not sure if she should be doing this. He asks why. She says she feels a little bad for Yeo Reum. Yeo Reum asks if she thinks she’s the only one who likes Ki Tae Hyung? He likes Ki Tae, too. Because they’re friends. Jang Mi chuckles.
Yeo Reum tells her that if she’s really sorry, she’d agree to be his business partner. She repeats that she’s not doing it. And I laugh at the following exchange, said one after the other:
YR: Let's do it.Jang Mi rolls her eyes and tells him to stop already. He says that he needs her. He’s not expecting anything else. He just wants to rely on her for business. She asks if he really means it. He affirms that he has no other motive. She asks if he really doesn’t. He teases her, asking, “Do I?” She fires back that she’s not doing it. He laughs and then seriously says that he really doesn't.
JM: Do it alone.
YR: Let's do it together.
JM: I can't.
YR: Let's just do it.
JM: Stop.
YR: Mutters “Okay.”
[Pause]
YR:Still, let's do it.
Jang Mi says that she’s leaving. That woman isn't showing up either. But Plastiwoman has just walked in. Plastiwoman walks over to a table to get to work on her blog while Jang Mi and Yeo Reum pretend to not even notice. Yeo Reum cracks me up because he’s staring at the ceiling. They slowly sneak toward Plastiwoman but stop when they see Se Ah approach her.
Se Ah sits across from Plastiwoman. She says that Director Gong is considering being lenient with her. I love her tone. She is good at this kind of thing. Plastiwoman scoffs and asks who is being lenient with whom. She’s looking particularly plastic today. How are they going to compensate for the mental suffering she went through? Se Ah pulls out an envelope with a check and asks if that isn’t what Plastiwoman really wants. Plastiwoman acts offended and declares that she did it because she thought other people would suffer at the same hospital. She did it to help them. Se Ah asks if they should send Plastiwoman a letter of complaint, aka sue.
Jang Mi tells Yeo Reum that it looks like they didn't have to interfere after all. Yeo Reum tells her that Se Ah Se Ah finishes the job better than she does. They leave.
Plastiwoman asks Se Ah who she is… a lawyer? She replies that she isn’t. She’s a plastic surgeon, too. She says that Plastiwoman’s face is about to be ruined because of her repeated surgeries. Plastiwoman grabs her face Se Ah tells her to give up on a plastic surgery. Se Ah says she wants to refer her for a reconstructive surgery to restore some of its functions. Plastiwoman pulls out a mirror and looks at her face, scared.
Se Ah says that looking at her face, she understands why Director Gong responded with silence when she asked. She says that she feels sorry for Plastiwoman to the point of not wanting to counter what she’s doing. Plastiwoman can’t believe that Se Ah is pitying *her.* Se Ah corrects that understanding. No, she feels pity for Plastiwoman’s face. It suffered a lot because it met a bad owner.
Plastiwoman yells at Se Ah, asking what does she know? What do pretty people know! Se Ah says that she’s a plastic surgery beauty, too. They’re different though. She fixed herself because she loved herself, but Plastiwoman doesn't have anyone that loves her, so that's probably why she did it. The looks on Plastiwoman’s face says that Se Ah’s right. Se Ah says that Plastiwoman had herself fixed again and again because she wanted to become someone else. In the end, she’s ended up living with a face that isn't anyone's face.
Plastiwoman calls Se Ah a bitch and goes to slap her, but Se Ah stops her arm. Then she won’t let go of Plastiwoman’s arm. Low, coldly, Se Ah asks how long will her words online be remembered? Should Se Ah write online that Plastiwoman a plastic surgery addict monster? Plastiwoman wrenches her arm free, yelling, “What did you say?!” and throws her coffee in Se Ah’s face. Jang Mi and Yeo Reum see. Plastiwoman declares she doesn’t need Se Ah’s money but she’s going to tell everyone that they tried to bribe her! She stomps off.
Jang Mi and Yeo Reum hurry over, asking if she’s okay. They’re surprised that Se Ah wasn’t burned. She tells them that she’s fine. They just need to hurry and catch Plastiwoman. Jang Mi tells Yeo Reum to stay with Se Ah and she runs after Plastiwoman. Plastiwoman takes off in her car, but Jang Mi’s on her bike, so she’s killing herself to keep up with the woman.
Plastiwoman has to stop at a crosswalk. Jang Mi pounds on her window and gets her to let her in the car. Jang Mi pants and groans that she asked Plastiwoman to stop. She almost died! Plastiwoman has her head down. Is she crying? She *is* crying, her mascara running. Plastiwoman sobs and tells Jang Mi not to look at her. Don't look at her face! Jang Mi offers her some napkins, concerned. Yay, the real Jang Mi’s finally showing her face. Plastiwoman asks who she is. Jang Mi pauses for a moment and then asks if Plastiwoman wants to go get a drink.
Mom is looking at Plastiwoman’s post about Ki Tae. She breaks down and calls his office. The receptionist says that he isn’t. He gives the employees paid vacation and he doesn't even come to the hospital anymore. He just stops by occasionally to drop off a bunch of chicken. Mom remembers the conversation she eavesdropped on. Mom understands.
Jang Mi and Plastiwoman are drinking. They’re sloshed. Jang Mi declares that Ki Tae did wrong, didn’t he? Plastiwoman is amazed and ask Jang Mi that she’s right, right? Jang Mi says that Ki Tae could have just said, "You're already pretty enough." That one sentence would have been fine. Plastiwoman agrees. I don’t remember the conversation in the office going quite like that, where that’s what she just wanted to hear. Jang Mi slurs that Ki Tae’s a person that originally doesn't say things that are good to hear. Instead, he pokes at the other person's pain and just digs there. Plastiwoman woman nods in agreement.
Plastiwoman thinks and asks why Jang Mi is making excuses for him? Jang Mi sighs. She doesn’t know. Honestly, right now isn’t a good time for her to be worrying about someone else. Her future is so bleak that she could just die, but she keeps being haunted by memories of him, so she can't leave him alone. Jang Mi declares that Ki Tae requires high maintenance. And Ki Tae would say the same thing about her. He needs to look out for her because she can’t take care of herself. Heh.
Plastiwoman looks at Jang Mi and says that Jang Mi must love him. Jang Mi smiles a yes. Plastiwoman declares that Jang Mi must live a hard life, being in love with a guy like that... She pours Jang Mi some more Soju. Jang Mi gives Plastiwoman puppy eyes and asks her to forgive Ki Tae for once, for her. Plastiwoman huffs and asks that if she thinks that by doing this, he'll understand her heart? Jang Mi smiles and says that if Ki Tae found out, he’d probably just say that she’s making a scene again.
Plastiwoman says that Jang Mi seems to have majored in making a scene. Jang Mi giggles and asks her how she knew! Plastiwoman mumbles that more than that pretty woman earlier, it seems like she communicates better with Jang Mi. Jang Mi tells Plastiwoman that she’s prettier. They clink glasses and drink.
Mom arrives at the Chicken Shack by taxi and finds Jang Mi and Plastiwoman together. Jang Mi mutters that in any case, Ki Tae kept saying whatever he wanted as if he was all high and mighty. Serves him right! Mom can’t believe that Jang Mi’s trying to torpedo Ki Tae’s practice, too. Plastiwoman starts to try to go, because she has to blog, but Jang Mi makes her stay and drink. Plastiwoman notices Mom, so Jang Mi sees her, too.
As Jang Mi looks at Mom, shocked, Mom asks if she’s the one who did it? Mom leaves. Jang Mi runs after her. Mom stops and says that she did wrong for even pulling Oma in to embarrass her. She went overboard. Mom says that because she was expecting something from Jang Mi and she was greatly disappointed. Mom came here to tell her that. Mom says she was there to ask Jang Mi to help Ki Tae end his feelings. She expected Jang Mi to possess at least some human feelings, but she was planning revenge, wasn’t she?
Jang Mi is confused. Revenge? Mom says that if it’s not that, is it for money? Again, confused Jang Mi. Mom declares that she should have given Jang Mi some money and taken care of it already. She didn't know that Jang Mi’s low was this. Mom gets in the waiting taxi and drives off. Jang Mi remembers all the times where people asked her about money. She realizes that when she’s with Ki Tae, it only looks like that.
Ki Tae is sitting in his apartment, surrounded by chicken boxes. So sad. He’s depressed. Mom arrives and looks at him. She calls him a pathetic fool. Mom says that she told him to live alone like he wanted and *this* is how he wanted to live? He turned the family upside down in order to live like this? She tells him to look at himself. He tripped over his own trap and fell. He replies that he knows… For the girl that he dragged into it to make Mom feel bad. He says that he’s the one whose fallen and can't get a hold of himself.
Mom tells Ki Tae to forget Jang Mi. He’s been fooled by Jang Mi, too. Mom declares that it was all Joo Jang Mi's plan. Mom says that Jang Mi’s behind Plastiwoman’s comments on her blog. Ki Tae is stunned, hurt. Mom says that she saw the two of them together and laughing.
Jang Mi and Yeo Reum are stuffing Plastiwoman into a taxi. Plastiwoman is heavy. Yeo Reum declares that his mission is to get her home, right. Yeo Reum looks at Plastiwoman and Jang Mi. He asks how Plastiwoman has passed out but Jang Mi’s pretty sober. It looks like something happened. He declares that liquor can’t beat Jang Mi, that’s for sure. He climbs in the car and asks if they should go into the business of selling alcohol? Jang Mi asks if he thought they would make money doing it. Then she finally caves and agrees to be his partner. Excited, Yeo Reum tells her she can’t change her mind and drives away with Plastiwoman.
Ki Tae is driving. He arrives at the Chicken Shack. The sign says “Temporarily closed.” Jang Mi’s gone to the park to find Guy and bring him some complimentary chicken. She says that their restaurant will be closed temporarily. She thanks him for making such big orders from them. Guy feels bad and confesses.
Jang Mi’s now sitting on that same park bench, thinking. Her phone rings. She answers. Ki Tae demands to know where she is. She yells at him about how he’s playing with people, the same as always! He snaps back, saying that she’s the same as always, creating mess here and there! He tells her to cut out the small talk and tell him where she is so he can go there.
Ki Tae arrives. She stands when she sees him. He demands to know if what Mom said was the truth. Instead of just saying ‘no’… Jang Mi snaps that he heard it all so why is he asking. He asks what she was thinking?! Jang Mi asks that if she says what she was thinking, would he believe her? Jang Mi declares that if it’s a girl without anything is doing things for a guy with a lot, then the girl never has innocent intentions. She always has another agenda! Ki Tae remembers that time where he said she was dating Hoon Dong for money. Jang Mi declares that from the beginning, he didn't trust her either.
Ki Tae says that it’s because she was acting so much like a fool. Jang Mi says, sarcastically, that he’s fabulous and she’s too lacking to be next to him. He says that she’s the one who pushed him away, telling him to go to someone else. Jang Mi says, “Enough.” She tells him not to do something like ordering chicken ever again. She doesn't want sympathy. He yells at her that she should be the one to stop interfering uselessly in other people's business! He declares that him and her… their act is over. Ak! What does that mean? And for those of you wondering, this is the fight they faked us out with in the beginning. Same clothes.
Ki Tae says that after going through all that suffering, they barely finished it at all. Since she’s the one who turned away from him so coldly, she should stop being concerned and just go her way. He asks her why she interfered and got misunderstood by Mom again? She needs to come to her senses. He's more upset that she was misunderstood than anything. She got fired because of him and her parents are about to get divorced; should she be doing this now? Did she forget all the humiliation and embarrassment he caused her? Was that not enough?
Jang Mi starts to cry and says Ki Tae’s name. He asks her how much more is she going to get hurt because of him? How much more is she going to cry because of him? He yells at her that it's enough for her to be an idiot, but why did she have to turn him into one? Heh. He says that the woman he likes is getting dragged around like that. How much more does she want him to see that?! Jang Mi realizes that he just called her the woman he likes. Ki Tae stops and wipes his face in frustration. Then he yells, “I like you, you frustrating woman!” Jang Mi blinks, backs away and then runs.
And luckily Ki Tae decides to chase her. And this is the part that in the opening he looked so threatening in. I guess that was how they felt internally. That’s what that was supposed to be. He stops her and asks her why she’s running away. She doesn’t want to look at him. She says that she doesn't want to be by his side. When she stays there, she keeps ending up not liking herself. Even if she didn't have much, she was never ashamed of herself, but she keeps feeling ashamed of herself in front of you. She really hates the self who's ashamed.
Ki Tae asks if she thinks that he doesn't feel the same? She looks at him He says he feels the same. Not even once has he ever doubted himself, but because of her, he’s wavering. He keeps hating himself because of her. But even so... Even so... He wants to be with her. He looks at her, waiting. She whines that it can't be. It's all finished. With a small smile, Ki Tae says that the fake dating is over. A tear rolls down Jang Mi’s cheek. Ki Tae looks at her and says that from now on, they’re gonna do it for real.
And then he hugs her.Dramatic replaying of the embrace a few times.
♬ If I tell you I miss you ♬
♬ And call out to you thousands of times ♬
♬ Will you think of me at least once? ♬
♬ I just want you, love me, will love come? ♬
After a moment, she hugs him back. He strokes her hair, happy.
♬ Tell me that you love me, if you feel the same way as me ♬
♬ I hope and hope and hope but I can’t have you ♬
♬ I know this but I look for you again like a fool ♬
Ki Tae pulls away a little so that he can look at her. Are they going to kiss? A real kiss?! He wipes a tear from her cheek and looks at her softly.
♬ If I desperately call out your name ♬
♬ Will we be able to meet again like that day? ♬
♬ I can’t live without you, will you come? ♬
And they kiss! Finally! Ki Tae cradles her head as he does. And she pulls him closer.
♬ Tell me that you love me, if you feel the same way as me ♬
♬ I hope and hope and hope but I can’t have you ♬
♬ I know this ♬
♬ but I look for you again like a fool ♬
Now Jang Mi and Ki Tae are walking together. It’s really obvious he wants to hold her hand. He keeps looking at it and fiddling with it awkwardly. He asks her how she couldn’t come, even once? She asks him if he’s ever once welcomed her while smiling? Ki Tae smiles and says that even if he said not to come, she came anyway before. Jang Mi smiles as she supposes that he waited for her. Even though the answer is ‘yes,’ he says, “Not really.”
Jang Mi says that she did actually come once. She says that she almost rang the bell. This gives Ki Tae a big goofy grin. He nudges her with his shoulder and says that it’s as he expected, this girl can't escape him. She asks him if he ever run out to the hall after hearing footsteps, thinking it was her? As an answer, he grabs her hand. It’s really sweet, the grins as they walk.
They head back to the apartment. Jang Mi is shocked by the mess. She gasps and asks the clean freak, Gong Ki Tae, what the mess is. He’d completely forgotten and is horrified, embarrassed. He tries to get her to go back to the car, covering her eyes so she can’t see. She pushes his hand away, smiling. She waves her finger and says that he completely fell for her. He couldn't come to his senses and crumbled to the floor, didn't he. He clears his throat and says that it was because he was busy. She realizes that he smells and asks whether he didn’t shower. He says that he was very busy.
Jang Mi tells Ki Tae to go wash up, quickly. He asks if she’s telling him to wash up? She says she is. He gets a really goofy grin as he asks, “Now?” What is *he* thinking? She says, “Yeah. Now. Immediately.” Ki Tae definitely has a goofy, scandalized face on. He starts to laugh as he tries to undo his collar button. Jang Mi breaks out into a big smile and declares that they should go wash quickly. He giggles as she pushes him toward the bathroom.
In the bathroom, Ki Tae asks why she’s following him in there? She takes his face in her hands and kisses both cheeks. His face looks like he can’t believe she just kissed him! She wiggles his face as she says he should c lean each nook and cranny well. She leaves. And I am rolling as Ki Tae grabs his cheeks like a fifteen-year-old girl. He repeats each nook and cranny.
♬ My head gets dizzy ♬
He breaks out into a huge smile and tells himself that if she's telling him to wash up, he should wash up!
♬ Your face flickers before me today ♬
Finally he gives up on the shirt buttons and pulls it off over his head. He throws it to the floor.
♬ I can’t take it anymore ♬
Ki Tae in the shower. I am rolling as he scrubs in places they normally don’t hint at.
♬ Starting from tomorrow, we will live happily together ♬
♬ When I see you, my heart pounds and my lips dry up ♬
After the shower he heads to the mirror.
♬ I couldn’t sleep last night because of the butterflies ♬
♬ I can’t take it anymore ♬
Ki Tae preening in front of the mirror. Again, I am rolling as he shakes his hair and tries to figure out what hairstyle to wear.
♬ Starting from tomorrow, we will live happily together ♬
Finally, Jang Mi calls in, asking if he’s done showering. Phew! I was afraid she was going to fall asleep on the couch waiting for him. He yells that he will come out right away. She knocks on the door and asks why he’s not coming out? She tells him to come out quickly! He gives himself a look in the mirror – like he’s a super stud – and mutters that she’s so impatient. But he's loving it!
Ki Tae emerges in a robe with a couple bangs pulled forward over his forehead. It’s like he’s trying to channel Elvis or something. He tries to look all smooth as he walks over to her. She looks at him and asks what’s wrong with his hair? Is he going somewhere? He starts to stroke his head, embarrassed now. Jang Mi tells him to not ever think about going anywhere. She says that what he’s pushed back all this time is the size of a mountain. It isn't enough even if they pull an all-nighter. Heh. She is so not talking about what he’s thinking about.
Ki Tae whispers, “Pull an all nighter?” and giggles. She asks him if he didn’t hear her. He needs to move quickly. Ki Tae steels himself, tells her ‘okay’ and grabs her shoulders. He shoves her back onto the couch and goes in for a kiss. She looks at him, eyes wide like he’s crazy, and asks what he’s doing. Then she laughs and asks him what naughty things he was thinking about? He thinks she’s game and goes in for another kiss, but she hands him the vacuum handle and tells him to wear clothes quickly and start with the vacuum cleaner. Denied!
♬ Just amazing. ♬
♬ I know you want it. Stay with me. ♬
Ki Tae disgustedly runs the vacuum cleaner upstairs. He looks down at Jang Mi wiping his couch cushions with a lint brush.
♬ The way you talk always mysteriously stays near my ears ♬
♬ My face grows red (and my heart gets excited) ♬
Cleaning. Cleaning.
♬ Inside the square bus, I faintly hear a well-known song ♬
Ki Tae declares that he’s done and heads downstairs.
♬ At some point (falling into you) ♬
She points out more stuff for him to clean. They work together to get the apartment spick and span.
♬ I fall in love ♬
♬ Between the clouds, ♬
Jang Mi greets Nemo and wipes the aquarium glass. Ki Tae pops up, showing that she’s sitting on his shoulders, and tells Nemo hello. He tells her to clean the tank hood well. She scrubs happily.
Satisfied, Jang Mi plops onto the sofa and cheers that it’s clean. She says that it has to be like that to be Ki Tae's house. Heh. I love that she loves that he's a clean freak. He sits down next to her, puts his arm around her and asks if they should rest a bit now. She agrees. But I don’t think she gets that what he’s calling rest is what she’s thinking he means. Ki Tae asks if he should bring her something to drink? Wine? She laughs, covers her face and says that she’s embarrassed to do it with a sober mind. I still don’t think the ‘it’ she means is the ‘it’ he’s thinking.
Ki Tae’s all about getting that wine quickly. Heh.
♬ When I see you, my heart pounds and my lips dry up ♬
♬ I couldn’t sleep last night because of the butterflies ♬
♬ Why am I like this?♬
Jang Mi looks at him as he works on uncorking the wine. She says that she wants to say something before they start. He tells her to tell him. She tells him that he can’t laugh. Because she’s serious. Still working on the wine cork he says that he’s serious, too.
Finally Ki Tae gets the cork off. Jang Mi asks him what he thinks about a cool relationship. Ki Tae look at her and asks what she’s saying. She says that she just wants to do the dating, not the marriage. Ki Tae looks at her shocked.
♬ I am me who can't live a day without you ♬
♬ Where could she be? Where are you? ♬
♬ I don't see you (I don't see you) ♬
♬ I'm looking for you, oh baby ♬
♬ Even though I call, it's you who doesn't answer ♬
♬ It is meaningless without you everyday. ♬
♬ I'm missing you, before I get hurt ♬
Thoughts
Well, that was a surprise, her asking for a cool relationship. Ki Tae knows that she wants to (or wanted to) get married and he’s totally ready to do that, once they’ve dated a little bit. He’s ready to go all in and with her, he feels safe enough to want the extraordinary. Jang Mi’s request is understandable, though, since she’s watching her parents’ relationship finally burn to the ground and that desire for marriage killed her other relationships. It’s understandable that she doesn’t want to go through anything remotely like what happened the first time. And there’s still the issue of Mom and Mom is going to flip when she finds out that Ki Tae is dating Jang Mi for real. I do think that she and Mom will eventually have a good relationship, once Jang Mi’s sincerity shines through with Mom. It’s going to take a while, but it will.
Halmeoni is going to be so excited to see Jang Mi! And that Ki Tae came in for a landing instead of circling the runway.
I have to say that I hate that the writers gave us such a fakeout, because out-of-control Ki Tae is SCARY. Throughout the conversation, he was relatively calm, considering what just happened again. He was practically sure that Jang Mi didn’t do that to him, but the thought that she would betray him like Se Ah did made him mad. I like that he didn’t come at her, yelling ‘how could you!’ but instead asked if it was true. Plus, when I rewatched the scene, I think he wasn’t actually acting if the accusation was true, just that it was true that Mom saw something and misunderstood again. That whole conversation had him basically saying, how long are you going to be harmed by me? How many times are you going to help me and end up getting hurt and Mom misunderstanding? I think why Jang Mi started crying is she saw just how much he was hurting, hurting her.
I love his confession: “I like you, you frustrating woman!” One of the best confessions ever because it perfectly encapsulated that moment, their relationship. It wasn’t super romantic, although all the stuff he said beforehand was sweet. It just captured it. And it was hysterical.
I wonder what Jang Mi and Yeo Reum’s plan was with Plastiwoman. I guess we’ll find out next episode and then Ki Tae can explain to Mom how Jang Mi actually *saved* his practice. That ought to get Mom to relent a bit. Even though Mom feels hurt and betrayed by Jang Mi, somewhere, where she’s not acknowledging it yet, she trusts Jang Mi and believes her sincerity. What Mom really needs to learn is to not meddle. Instead of going to Ki Tae and asking him how she can help – which would have been humbling, sure – she instead, goes behind his back and then jumps to conclusions and doesn’t get any type of explanation.
I do wonder what’s going to happen with Dad, because I really think Trollop is going to kick him to the curb when times get hard. She wants to take a share of the harvest without doing any of the work. And for years now, she’s gotten away with it. But I think a hurricane of trouble’s coming Dad’s way and Trollop is going to bail when it hits.
It’s funny. When Jang Mi finally listened to Ki Tae about how she should just be alone and be okay with that, it made him miserable. It made both of them miserable. I am so glad that the torment is over because watching both of them without their other half was so discouraging. I hope they’re not going to have a bunch of misunderstandings to torment them, but instead, their usual bickering and them working to repair the relationships with the elder. And I hope our series ends with the marriage, not just dating.
