Mask Episode 3 Recap

Episode begins with Ji Sook in bed and Seok Hoon ordering her to wake up. She slowly opens her eyes. She’s in the hospital. A room similar to the one Eun Ha is in. Ji Sook sits up, which hurts. Understandable because of being in a car accident. Seok Hoon pulls out his phone and tells her to write what it says down:
채권자가 죽으면 채무는 사라진다. 이 방법밖에 없다.
Which roughly translates: When the creditor dies, debt disappears. There are only two ways.

Clever, Seok Hoon.

Ji Sook looks at the phone and asks, “What is this?” Coldly, Seok Hoon declares that there’s no time. He repeats his order and tells her to hurry. Ji Sook complies. Ji Sook translates what she’s writing for us: If the creditor dies, the debt must disappear. There is no other way than this...

Once she’s done, Seok Hoon takes the paper and stuffs it in the breast pocket of his suit jacket. He tells her to listen carefully. Her name is no longer Byeon Ji Sook but Seo Eun Ha. She was at her fiancé's house and she fell into the swimming pool. From that shock, she’ll be diagnosed with memory loss. Ji Sook asks if she has memory loss. Almost sneering at her, he tells her that she’s going to *act* like she does. Seo Eun Ha's parents are coming right now. When she meets them, don't say a word. Just be still.

Ji Sook asks what happened to the other people. What about Seo Eun Ha? Seok Hoon orders her not to worry about those things. He leans in closer. His tone is almost down-right sinister. In fact, don't think at all. From now on, he’ll think for her. That’s never good. She just has to do as he says. Does she understand? Ji Sook takes in what he’s said. Strongly, Seok Hoon repeats that he said ‘do you understand?’ She nods.

Mask Episode 2 Recap

Episode Two begins with Min Woo regaining consciousness while lying on Eun Ha’s coat. He’s not entirely with it as he gazes out into the pool, where he sees Eun Ha floating. Sheer horror is on his face as he looks at her. It fades into a flashback of his mother’s death: screaming her name, trying to keep ahold of her hand, losing his grip and then Oma floating away down the river.

As Min Woo can’t move, Seok Hoon runs up. He stares in horror at Min Woo before diving into the pool after Eun Ha. Mi Yeon is strangely dispassionate about Eun Ha’s death. Could she be the one who drugged her? Once he’s pulled Eun Ha out of the pool, Seok Hoon gives her CPR, even as he begs her not to die. A bit more emotional that someone who doesn’t want to lose the political connections that an alliance might bring. Maybe that’s why Mi Yeon is so dispassionate over Eun Ha’s ‘accident.’ In fact, she looks downright angry at how he’s desperately trying to save Eun Ha.

[Episode 2 -The Girl Who Walks Through Memories]

Switch to Eun Ha hooked up to hospital machines and a doctor is telling Seok Hoon and his minion that Eun Ha is in a vegetative state and won’t be getting better. Seok Hoon sounds desperate as he asks if there’s anything that can be done, but Doctor isn’t going for it. Seok Hoon, his voice full of menace, says that Eun Ha’s situation doesn’t leave the room that they’re in. Doctor understands.

Eun Ha’s doppelganger, Ji Sook, is currently texting Min Woo to try to meet with him so she can get her money back. But Min Woo hasn’t seen any of the texts because he’s busy freaking out over what’s happened to Eun Ha. Even though he’s trying to act calm, the ticking of the clock nearby is getting to him. Mi Yeon enters the room and tells him that Eun Ha’s going to be released soon and that Seok Hoon’s going to take care of everything. Right after she asks if he really doesn’t remember anything, he gets another text. Snapping, he grabs his phone and almost smashes it, but controls himself. After all, he doesn’t want to look like he’s crazy. Because he’s not crazy. Min Woo turns to her and says that she's right. He did it. Seo Eun Ha is like that because of him. Is that what Mi Yeon wants to hear?

Mask Episode 1 Recap

The shows starts off with a bang. I mean I wasn’t planning on recapping it, but here I am anyway. Our heroine, Byeon Ji Sook (Soo Ae) is precariously driving down a road, swerves to miss a deer, runs off the road, crashes through trees and then runs off a cliff, only to be saved by the guard rail that she had driven through. Some guy who was in the car with her is unconscious and falls out through the now-missing windshield into the ocean. Because she luckily drove off a cliff with the ocean below and not a deep gorge of hard things like trees and rocks and dirt at the bottom.

Ji Sook is, for some reason, handcuffed to the steering wheel. Did they mean to kill her? A man that her phone identifies as ‘Crazy Bastard’ calls. She begs for help but he’s all about her accepting his proposal. The car is starting to slip, scaring Ji Sook even more, and he refuses to help her unless she says yes. He hangs up on her. She starts to cry. She calls him back and agrees to do whatever he tells her to do. He tells her that he has one condition. She must die. Only if she dies can things go as planned. She asks if he wants her to die right now? He tells her that dying isn't so bad. But being able to determine how you die is something to be thankful for. There’s a pause and he asks what she’s decided.

Oh My Ghostess Episode 4 Recap

Episode begins with the confrontation with Granny and Sun Woo remembering Bing Go’s words. He tells himself – not sounding too confident – that there's no such things as ghosts. He grabs a flashlight out of a drawer and decides to look downstairs. Soon Ae hides. Why isn’t he just switching on the light? He gets so close to where Soon Ae’s hiding that he steps on her fingers. Dog starts barking. Sun Woo mutters about that stalker dog.

He starts to walk away, so Soon Ae decides at that moment to switch hiding places. Even though he wasn’t going to be looking anymore at where she is. Sun Woo hears her and catches her. When he realizes that it’s her, *then* he turns the light on. Amazed, he asks what the heck she’s doing there. She doesn’t really reply.

They’re sitting at a table now. And I’m noticing the two types of light in the background. Halogen orange in the dining area and fluorescent blue in the kitchen. You can’t white balance for both of them… Sun Woo sums up her plan: She was going to break in there and sleep? Soon Ae says that the term 'breaking in' isn't quite right. And it was only for one night. He knows that’s not true. If he hadn't have caught her, she would've stayed two, three days or longer. She tells him that she’s in a really difficult situation. There's the whole money issue and she’s in no position to decide on a place. Can't they work something out? Sun Woo says they can’t.

Soon Ae isn’t going to just take ‘no.’ She says that she’ll sleep quietly and be gone when people arrive. He tells her that she still can’t. Would she like it if someone slept on the table she ate off of? Why would she sleep on a table and not on one of the benches? And this is a restaurant, not a hostel. She whines that the only place she can go is the subway station. He tells her to sleep at a friend's place. She answers that she doesn't have any friends. He says a motel. She says that you go there with a man. Why would she go there alone? Sun Woo can’t believe that Soon Ae would say that. Let alone, think it. Girls are, after all, supposed to be chaste and virginal.

Oh My Ghostess Episode 3 Recap

The episode opens with a flashback to what Myung Ho’s restaurant business used to be like: people lined up out the door, the place packed. Soon Ae’s burnt rice soup is the popular dish. Kyung Mo is a slacker and Soon Ae is the heart of the restaurant. A customer yells for her to sing, and even though she complains, she sings. And has a good voice. Nice trot song, too. The customers love it.

Back in the present, Soon Ae has arrived at the restaurant with Myung Ho carrying the passed out Kyung Mo home. She’s having a hard time not crying as she stands in the place that she used to live.

Myung Ho makes her food and, when she looks at the spoons, she thinks that she told her father to dry the utensils before putting them in. There'll be water marks. She sighs and wipes away more tears. It’s hard for her to eat. She notices the turnip kimchi and thinks, “Abeoji, you have to put a saran wrap on the turnip kimchi container. It'll dry up and won't taste good. More tears.

Myung Ho comes out and asks if the food is okay and then says that he’s been thoughtless. It's so hot out and he didn't even turn on the fan. The fan doesn’t want to turn on. Soon Ae gets up and pulls the chain at an angle and the fan starts right up. Abeoji asks how she knew what to do. She replies that she just pulled it and it worked. She sits back down. Myung Ho tells her that he’s just so grateful. He brought her there because he wanted feed her, but he’s not sure if it's to her liking. She forces a smile as she says that it’s good.

Soon Ae can’t take anymore and announces that she has to get going. Myung Ho asks her to wait and as he strips off the plastic gloves that he was wearing, she notices a rubber band around the thumb of one. Abeoji is so poor that he can’t afford to get new gloves. He wants to give her taxi money. She refuses but Myung Ho says that the way the world is today... Kyung Mo would be in trouble if not for her. It's his gratitude, so please accept it. She reluctantly takes it and hurries out of the store.

Oh My Ghostess Episode 2 Recap

Episode starts with a different camera angle as Sun Woo holds out his hand, silently demanding the key. The handshake, which he flings aside. He demands the key. Soon Ae (possessing Bong Sun) has no idea what he’s talking about. Sun Woo starts searching her pockets. Soon Ae flips him onto the floor – with horrified looks (and covered mouths) by everyone else. Sun Woo looks up at Soon Ae, shocked.

Sun Woo is so shocked that he has a hard time climbing to his feet. Min Soo and Dong Chul rush over to help him up. Soon Ae looks pissed as she glares at Sun Woo. Sun Woo stands up and brushes himself off – but doesn’t exactly look mad. Min Soo yells at Soon Ae, with a stutter, asking if she’s crazy. She may have quit, but this isn't right. Soon Ae's voice wonders if she’s made a mistake. Dong Chul leans over to sniff her, asking if Bong Sun’s drunk. Ji Woong, too, and he doesn’t smell any alcohol.

Min Soo yells at Soon Ae to apologize to Chef right now. Apologize now! Soon Ae looks at Sun Woo and wonders at the name Chef. He’s not a foreigner. Quietly, Sun Woo tells Min Soo to stop. Just as quietly, he asks Soon Ae to hand over the keys. She asks what key he’s going on and on about? She searches her pockets and pulls out the key they’re looking for. Sun Woo groans and, without a word, grabs it out of her hand and goes to open the back.

Eun Hee rolls forward and asks Soon Ae if she’s okay. Is she feeling sick? Min Soo and the other chefs – but not Joon – start yelling at her. Soon Ae sighs – and you can hear her roll her eyes – and decides that this is not working. She decides to leave Bong Sun. She lurches to leave… but doesn’t. It kind of looks like she’s about to be sick, so the other chefs step back. She tries again… and nothing. She remembers what Bing Go said about a girl matching her frequency and getting stuck. Soon Ae lets out a high pitched groan and tries really hard. Then she faints.

All the boys hover around her, yelling at her to wake up. Sun Woo hears the commotion and comes running.

Oh My Ghostess Episode 1 Recap

Series begins with a girl, Na Bong Sun (Park Bo Young), walking – staggering really – down the street, asleep on her feet. She walks by an ambulance that starts its engine and drives with its siren on. We follow the ambulance – fuzziness and floating over the ambulance implies that the person inside might be half dead right now – to the hospital. As the EMTs unload the patient, they report that he’s a 25-year old male who was found unconscious on the stairs of a club in Itaewon. His vitals are unstable and his body temperature is 25 degrees Celsius (77*F). They say it seems like he has hypothermia. Response? Another one?

Two of the interns comment on how it’s another person with hypothermia. They’ve lost count for the month and during a heat wave, too. Hypothermia during a heat wave? Must be a ghost! Everyone knows (at least those of us who watch ‘Supernatural’) that when ghosts are in the room, the temperature plummets. Intern1 wonders if it's a similar virus to Ebola. Ebola? Seriously? I cannot believe that they just threw out Ebola. Come on, writers! Do a little research. There’s no way that hypothermia is related to a disease that you contract from either contact with bodily fluids or drinking tainted water. Talk about latching on to the alarming disease of the day. I sure hope that this thing stops being stupid really quickly. Intern2 scoffs – as would I. The other guy needs to study some more – and says that he thinks that it’s drug related. He asks what the police said.

Switch to police. Cop-1 says that the victims were all with women before the incident. But? Their ID's and jobs all check out okay. There’s nothing connecting these women. They’re chatting over lunch. It looks good. Cop-2 wonders what mystery woman’s true identity is. They have no idea. Cop-3 says that there was one common trait between the women. All of them are exceptionally beautiful and have a well-proportioned figure. Way to put that she had a chest. They wonder who she is. It’s not like she's a ghost or anything.

Warm and Cozy Episode 16 Recap

Why couldn’t we get to this point about 2 episodes ago? So we could have more Gun Woo and Jung Joo together action?

Our last episode begins with Gun Woo and Jung Joo sitting at a table. With orange juice, of course. Gun Woo looks like he’s scowling. She asks him – gleeful almost – if he missed her that much. How much did he cry every day because he missed her so much? She is enjoying tormenting him too much. Hee. Gun Woo looks at her and says, “Who said I cried?” He’s got to keep his pride, after all. The crying part’s unmanly. She asks him if he doesn’t remember this part. Imitating him, she says, 'Jung Joo, I miss you so much.' Gun Woo shifts in his chair – because he knows he would have done that and that means she knows now, too. She smiles and says that he cried as he said that. He looks at her, hating how she’s enjoying tormenting him. Maybe you won’t do it to her the next time you’re tempted.

Jung Joo smiles and playfully pokes him in the arm as she says that she did him a favor by catching him. He gives her an ‘aigoo’ and then asks if she knows why he couldn’t leave. She didn't just like him. He heard that she completely fell for him from the moment she saw him. He did not just do that. So wrong. He couldn’t possibly ignore that. Jung Joo doesn’t get what he’s referring to (him being her first love). She says – in that smug way that both of them get when they think that they have the upper hand – that if the terminal illness incident didn't happen, she wouldn't have liked him that much. And I actually think it’s true – because he used her several times when they first met and killed off the dreamlike prince.

Gun Woo tells her that that’s such a lie. What about 'the dreamlike prince riding on a dark horse'? Jung Joo horrified that she’s busted. Did he... meet with Min Ah? At least I won’t call her Friend anymore. I could not remember the woman’s name. Gun Woo says that that’s right! Han Byeol's mom told him everything! Jung Joo starts to chew on her thumb and Gun Woo lists it: First love, idealistic, prince! She thought he was such an amazing man, so he couldn't just leave her be.

Warm and Cozy Episode 15 Recap

I can’t believe it’s the last week. I’m going to miss these two.

We return to Jung Joo running through the airport, looking for Gun Woo. The things that were just voiceover are now texts. Which makes me even feel more emotional, because she actually said them to him, not just what she’s thinking.

{Gun Woo... Now that you left, I feel like I'm going crazy.}

As she searches, she thinks about all the things that he said that she believes now:

Holding her hand on his heart and saying that he’s really hot right now.
Telling her not to go anywhere else and asking if she wants to come with him?
Holding her hand when she comforted her and saying that no matter how much he thinks about it, he should hang onto her.

{I didn't believe what you said.}
{To believe those words, I didn't feel confident enough.}
{You were as desperate for me as I was for you, weren’t you?}

She starts to cry again.

{Baek Gun Woo, where are you?}
{Regardless of whatever you think, I'll keep liking you.}

But she doesn’t find him. And a woman in shorts and tennis shoes just walked by. Wasn’t expecting to see that outside of the US. Jung Joo leaves the airport and stops to sit by a fountain. She voiceovers that Gun Woo left like that and the text messages she sent were left unread, even a year later.

Warm and Cozy Episode 14 Recap

Gun Woo is outside the Warm and Cozy, drinking beer, thinking about seeing Jung Joo in Mayor’s arms. Upstairs, Jung Joo is still waiting for him. She checks her phone and it’s 12:28 am. He’s not there. She calls him. He’s on his third beer. He laughs at that one. She comes outside because she hears his phone. She sees him sitting there, drinking. He glances over and their eyes meet. He gives her a glare and looks away. She walks up to the table and sees his phone out in plain sight. That irritates her. Gun Woo takes another drink.

She sits and asks what he’s doing out there. Putting down the beer, he says that he excused himself for them, so that she could have a nice time with the mayor. Jung Joo can’t believe it. He’s been out there ever since the mayor was here? Gun Woo says that that’s right. The pair were blocking the stairway. If he had asked them to move, she’d probably call him 'a jealous, big-time player.' So he excused himself. And instead of doing the logical thing, which is explaining that she was all mopey because of HIM, she makes me was to slap the back of her head. Jung Joo answers, “Okay, thanks.” Thanks to Gun Woo doing that, she was consoled and felt at ease. Gun Woo mutters, asking if Mayor is some kind of priest? Or a monk? Pretending to be the good guy...

Jung Joo changes the subject: What did Gun Woo want to tell her about earlier? He looks at her and squints as he asks if she even remembers. Was she looking forward to whatever he wanted to tell her? Say yes! He needs you to say yes. She says that she wasn't looking forward to it... but she did give it some thought. Starting to bluster, Jung Joo says that she was so worried that he might ask her to come with him. Gun Woo sighs and looks away, but instead of his usual irritation, he looks like he’s about to break. Jung Joo says that she should decline but he said he’d feel pretty hurt if he got rejected.

He answers – his face back in place – that she was worried over nothing. He didn't ask her to wait for him so she can say things like that to him. Ouch. That says he’s hurt. She asks if he was going to tell her that he’s leaving with someone else? Gun Woo asks why she cares whether or not he leaves with someone else? Jung Joo fires back, asking why she wouldn't care? She wanted to make sure to tell him that she’s perfectly fine with it, whether he leaves or not.

Warm and Cozy Episode 13 Recap

Episode starts right where it left off, with Gun Woo close to crying, saying that he has to leave. Does Jung Joo want to come with him? He walks away.

Over at the table, Jung Joo watches as Mayor happily drinks his makgeolli. She thinks about Gun Woo putting his hand on her forehead, telling her that she’s still boiling. She reaches up and touches her forehead. Mayor asks if she’s not felling well. She tells him that it's not hot. He says that that’s good to hear. Oh, if he only knew. If it's hot, it means she’s sick. She tells Mayor that whenever she’s with him she feels at ease. He smiles and says that that’s good.

The smile on Jung Joo’s face says that it isn’t. She says that whenever she’s with Gun Woo, it hurts. Because… It's hot. Mayor gets what she’s saying. Jung Joo says that she needs to go and check on something. Please be checking on the necklace.

Jung Joo has run back to the Warm and Cozy and goes to the spot in the storeroom. The necklace isn’t there. Gun Woo enters and says that she’s checking as he expected. And he's making it sound like he's just torturing her for sport again. She turns around to face him. He says that she seemed to be holding back for a while. She asks him what he left there. Not looking at her, he says that it was nothing. He pulled a prank on her. He’s killing me. She repeats his words: 'It was a prank?' He looks at her and says that she lost to him again. But his face looks like he’s about to cry. He’s really bad, isn’t he? I totally expected her to buy it, but she sees what I do.

Jung Joo asks him what’s wrong. Did something happen? The concern in her voice is obvious. He sighs and repeats himself. His voice almost cracks as he tells her to get mad at him if she wants to. She says that he doesn't look like he’s enjoying the idea that he pulled a prank. Something happened to him, right? He stops looking at her.
