Warm and Cozy Episode 14 Recap

Gun Woo is outside the Warm and Cozy, drinking beer, thinking about seeing Jung Joo in Mayor’s arms. Upstairs, Jung Joo is still waiting for him. She checks her phone and it’s 12:28 am. He’s not there. She calls him. He’s on his third beer. He laughs at that one. She comes outside because she hears his phone. She sees him sitting there, drinking. He glances over and their eyes meet. He gives her a glare and looks away. She walks up to the table and sees his phone out in plain sight. That irritates her. Gun Woo takes another drink.

She sits and asks what he’s doing out there. Putting down the beer, he says that he excused himself for them, so that she could have a nice time with the mayor. Jung Joo can’t believe it. He’s been out there ever since the mayor was here? Gun Woo says that that’s right. The pair were blocking the stairway. If he had asked them to move, she’d probably call him 'a jealous, big-time player.' So he excused himself. And instead of doing the logical thing, which is explaining that she was all mopey because of HIM, she makes me was to slap the back of her head. Jung Joo answers, “Okay, thanks.” Thanks to Gun Woo doing that, she was consoled and felt at ease. Gun Woo mutters, asking if Mayor is some kind of priest? Or a monk? Pretending to be the good guy...

Jung Joo changes the subject: What did Gun Woo want to tell her about earlier? He looks at her and squints as he asks if she even remembers. Was she looking forward to whatever he wanted to tell her? Say yes! He needs you to say yes. She says that she wasn't looking forward to it... but she did give it some thought. Starting to bluster, Jung Joo says that she was so worried that he might ask her to come with him. Gun Woo sighs and looks away, but instead of his usual irritation, he looks like he’s about to break. Jung Joo says that she should decline but he said he’d feel pretty hurt if he got rejected.

He answers – his face back in place – that she was worried over nothing. He didn't ask her to wait for him so she can say things like that to him. Ouch. That says he’s hurt. She asks if he was going to tell her that he’s leaving with someone else? Gun Woo asks why she cares whether or not he leaves with someone else? Jung Joo fires back, asking why she wouldn't care? She wanted to make sure to tell him that she’s perfectly fine with it, whether he leaves or not.

Gun Woo sarcastically says, “How amazing!” Up until recently, she was bawling because she liked him so much. She worked really hard and switched over right away! Jung Joo asks what he just said. Gun Woo keeps going – because he’s hurt and hurting – asking if she, by any chance, confessed her feelings for him in order to hold onto him since she needed him around the restaurant – implying that it was one manipulative move. He knows it wasn’t, that she’s not Dead Face Harpy, but he’s hurting now and wants her to hurt, too. Instead of yelling at him, she looks hurt and asks how he could say that. Seeing her face, he knows he gave her another scar.

Not saying anything else, she gets up to go inside. Wrist grab, with a face that says that he’s really sorry. She tells him not to come inside. He says he was leaving? Starting today, just don't come in. Gun Woo’s stunned. She wrenches her wrist free and goes back inside. He smacks his mouth angrily. He starts to get in his car, but he can’t leave. Inside, Jung Joo watches to see if he comes inside. Instead, Gun Woo waits outside all night long, looking absolutely miserable. When the morning comes, he gets in his car and looks at those plane tickets. He leaves and heads for Noona’s suite. He climbs into bed, miserable (physically). Jung Joo comes outside and sees that his car is gone. She’s discouraged. Well, you told him to go.

Noona comes downstairs to see Gun Woo miserable. He doesn’t move when she talks to him. She notices that he’s sweating. Is it because of what happened with Hyung? Weakly he mumbles for her to just leave him alone. And don’t tell Hyung. He tells her to leave again. She says that she’s got it. He needs to tell her if he’s really sick. Even though it’s obvious that this is NOT a hangover.

At the Warm and Cozy, Jung Joo and Poong San are cleaning. He asks about Gun Woo, since he’s been gone two days. I guess that’s one way to do a time jump. He's not answering his phone either. He can't have left already, right? Jung Joo, her voice cracking slightly, says that he won't come back. Poong San can’t believe he left without saying goodbye. Jung Joo mutters, “Who cares.”

Over at the hotel, Noona clucks at Gun Woo for being sick for two whole days. She didn’t tell Hyung, but he kept asking about Gun Woo. He says that he’ll talk to Hyung today. Noona asks if he, by any chance, is sick because of that girl? Immediately Gun Woo asks why he would be sick because of her? Who is she to him? Noona smiles and says that that’s good to hear. She thought Jung Joo might have dumped him, so she worried that that’s why he said he’d leave and why he fell ill. Gun Woo says it’s not and then asks for more porridge. Oh, my gosh, Noona! What about Dad coming back? Ask him about that!

Noona mentions that Dead Face Harpy quit her job and is moving to New York. Are they leaving together? Gun Woo sighs, because now he knows what happened, what was up with Jung Joo. He sighs and says that he’ll eat porridge and gather his strength... His face grim, he says that he should take care of his matters with her before he leaves.

Switch to Dead Face Harpy whining that she didn't say much. She just told Jung Joo that she decided to go wherever he was. He sighs and says that maybe she hasn't cast aside her hopes yet. His uncle doesn't like him. He can't become the person she wants. Dead Face Harpy responds that she knows he has some weaknesses, but she can't give up on him. Gun Woo wants to know what weaknesses she’s talking about. Dead Face Harpy confesses that she overheard Noona’s conversation about what kind of person his father is. She’s willing to let it go. That means she likes him that much.

He hasn’t been able to tell Jung Joo, has he? It means he doesn't want to hang onto her enough to expose his weaknesses to her. Gun Woo says that she’s right, he didn't want to expose it. Because he likes her. Not the answer that Dead Face Harpy wants to hear. What man wants his own weakness exposed to the girl he likes? Still, he was so desperate... that he thought about coming clean and hanging onto her. But it's all over now. Dead Face Harpy says they should go together. Gun Woo shoots her down, telling her to go her way and he’ll go his way. Then he walks off.

Gun Woo meets with Hyung. He asks if Hyung’s the only one who knows. Noona doesn’t know, right? Hyung says that she hasn’t caught on. Gun Woo say that it’s a relief. If Noona knows, it will be tough to keep it a secret from Hae Shil. Hyung looks at Gun Woo and tells him that he’s sorry. Gun Woo pretends like he’s fine, saying that he’s really fine. He was itching to quit anyway. Hyung asks Gun Woo to give him some time. Until he and Hae Shil get strong enough to overcome this. Gun Woo’s face looks hopeful here, like he might be able to come back some day. Hyung tells Gun Woo to go easy on him until then.

Gun Woo says he will, but Hyung needs to make sure he treats Hae Shil well. If Hyung makes her happy, it will somehow make him feel better. Like father, like son. Hyung asks about the wedding. Gun Woo says that he’ll attend before he leaves. It's not a bad idea to make wedding noodle soup be the last dish he makes at the Warm and Cozy. Hyung chuckles and thanks him.

Poong San on the phone. He hangs up, disappointed and says that Gun Woo isn't coming. Not what she wanted to hear. He said that he isn’t coming back but staying at the resort until he leaves. Poong San tells her to pack up Gun Woo’s stuff. He wants her to use the excuse of dropping off his luggage to go see him. She thinks about it for a minute and then remembers her pride. She tells Poong San to forget it. Why would she go see him? Good thinking, though. She’ll pack his things and bring them down. Poong San sighs at his noona.

Jung Joo packs his things, telling Gun Woo never to come back. But the packing makes her think of all their times together. She starts to cry, calling him a jerk. They weren't able to have a proper chat, but he's not even coming. Well, you told him to get lost and he really knows that he hurt you, so why would he come?

Noona’s asking whyy Gun Woo is planning on going back to the restaurant. He says it’s because he needs to prepare for Hyung’s wedding. Noona points out that Jung Joo kicked him out. Gun Woo replies that he didn't leave because Jung Joo kicked him out. And he’s not going back because she asked him to, either. Noona mutters about how she got all the help she needed before. How can she not be sad at all about him leaving? She's so shameless. Gun Woo says that Jung Joo is not like that. She worries about him so much.

And Noona is the insecure voice in Gun Woo’s head. Noona says, “Whatever.” She didn't even call once while he was sick, did she? She didn’t know he was sick. It's not like the restaurant is that far from the resort. Gun Woo was so nice to her when he thought she was terminally ill. How can she not come visit him even once? She's so mannerless! Gun Woo answers that Jung Joo didn't know he was sick. When he got sick, she used to stay by his side. Noona doesn't even know half of it, so don't talk badly about Jung Joo! Noona protests that he’s taking her side again! She calls him a jerk and leaves.

Poong San calls and tells him that Jung Joo packed up his stuff. He’ll bring it over. Offended that she’s so eager to kick him out and hasn’t missed him at all – Gun Woo tells him to leave it. He’ll take care of his own stuff! He hangs up and can’t believe that Jung Joo packed his stuff. Gun Woo arrives at the Warm and Cozy and yells for Poong San. He sees his suitcase and kicks it. Stupid suitcase that Jung Joo packed because she doesn’t care that he’s leaving. But Jung Joo’s entered to see the rolling suitcase.

There’s momentary surprise and then Gun Woo looks away. Jung Joo says that he said he wasn’t coming back. He glares at her and replies that he heard she packed up his things. He came to pick it up! Another glare and he grabs the bag’s handle. Jung Joo says that she thought Poong San was bringing it to him. He indignantly replies that he takes care of his own stuff! Why did she pack up someone else's stuff without asking? She replies that it was because he said he wasn’t coming. Sarcastically he apologizes for showing up when she was hoping that he wouldn't.

He starts to go but stops. He tells her that she’s really brazen! He helped her out when she needed it! Now that he’s leaving, she’s not even a little sad? She softly tells him thank you for everything. He snaps that he’s sure those are just words. Did she even worry about how he’s been doing? He's been really sick. That night, when he got kicked out after hearing her insult him, he caught a cold while he waited outside for her and the mayor. And he got really sick! Her face says that she feels bad that he was sick. She tries to brightly say that he seems to be all better now.

Gun Woo replies that he was so nice to her when he thought she was terminally ill. But her? ‘I guess you're all better now.’ That's it? That’s all he gets? How can she be so mannerless? She answers that she has no shame and no manners, either. Sadly she smiles and says that he said he came to pick up his stuff. He should take it with him. He answers that even if she tells him not to leave, he’s still leaving! Loudly, he pulls up the handle and rolls the suitcase away. Run after him, you fool!

Outside, the Mayor arrives. Gun Woo isn’t going to say anything to him but Mayor asks if he’s leaving for good. Gun Woo declares that Mayor must've been looking forward to the day he left with his things. Mayor replies that he can't say that wasn't the case. Gun Woo declares that it was just a bluff when Mayor acted all confident and wanted to go for a round with a ring involved. Was Mayor just waiting for him to leave and thinking about how to take his place? As Poong San walks up, Gun Woo tells Mayor that he’s such a coward. And I kind of see his logic.

Gun Woo’s gonna go, but Mayor has to get his jab in. He thanks Gun Woo for hitting him hard upside the head so that he can take a step forward. He’ll go buy a ring. And off Mayor rides. Poong San comes up to Gun Woo and asks what he’s doing. Mayor could propose to Jung Joo! Gun Woo answers that if Mayor goes after Jung Joo now, he'll be flat out rejected. After he's been rejected once, he won't be able to go after her with a ring for a while. Poong San asks what Gun Woo’s going to do if Mayor doesn't get rejected? He’ll see Jung Joo get married before he leaves. Gun Woo declares that that won't happen! As long as he's around, there won't be a reason for Jung Joo to accept a ring from the mayor. His bluster begins to fade as he says that she probably won't accept, right?

Gun Woo goes back inside and goes into the store room. He takes out the tickets and the necklace. When he’s leaving the storeroom, he comes across Jung Joo. He doesn’t want to make eye contact. She asks why he’s back. He says that he remembered something. She asks if he left something. He looks at her sadly as he says that he was really desperate for something... He looks away again and says that he decided to leave it behind. It might be much better to leave it here and he doesn’t feel confident about taking it with him. And that’s a blow to my gut. I really wish he would stop being so cryptic.

Gun Woo apologizes about what he said earlier. She’s neither shameless nor mannerless. He told her that he respected her. She answers that she doesn't feel... perfectly fine about him leaving, too. And... Please don't get sick. It upsets her. She’s starting to get a little emotional. So is he. He tells her, “Okay.”

He changes the subject to Hyung’s wedding. He’s going to come and prepare for the wedding that day. And he’s leaving that day. Nodding, he says, “See you then.” Jung Joo can only say it back. Gun Woo pauses and they look at each other and he goes.

Bridal shop. Hyung likes the dress. It’s likely the second prettiest she’s been since they've met. Hae Shil asks when the prettiest was – probably thinking he’d say the day of their date. Hyung says it’s the day she rescued him from the ocean. She was really pretty that day. Aw. Hyung is such a softie! And that’s very romantic: she’s most beautiful when she’s being a diver. She asks if he’s saying that she looks best in a wetsuit? He shakes his head and says that when he saw her back then... she didn't look like someone of this world. Hae Shil says that she was really worried because she thought he was giving up on this world.

Scene of her slapping him. Twice. Hyung says that he wasn't upset after she slapped him twice, because he felt that she was really worried about him. Back to bridal salon. Hae Shil steps forward and puts her hand on his cheek. She apologizes for slapping him. He puts his hand over hers and says that she has a warm heart. He’s a strong person.

Hyung takes her hand in his and holds it. He says that he may be too frazzled to say his vows tomorrow, so he'll do it now. Aw! He’ll exercise every day so that he won't get a fat belly. He’ll make sure to massage his head so that his hair won't fall out. She chuckles. He’ll retain his beauty as a black pearl. So when she comes to really hate him, forgive him just once. Can she promise him that? She smiles and says that she will.

Mayor at the jewelry store. They have the ring he ordered. When he gets to the town office, his assistants are ecstatic. When Jong Bae asks, they say that Mayor picked up the ring he ordered today. MAII’s friend knows the jewelry shop manager. And he went to a barber shop. They’re cautiously speculating that today might proposal D-day (which in Korean is ‘proposal D-day.’) Why doesn’t Jong Bae looks more ecstatic? He’s been pushing for this. Assistants walk away and Jong Bae wonders, since the success of his long cherished project is right in front of him, why does his heart feel so heavy?

At the Warm and Cozy, Poong San and Jung Joo are gathering all the supplies they’ll need for the reception later. Poong San says that Gun Woo will come and prepare them the next morning. She’ll get to see him for the first time in a while. So they’re just jumping time here again… She hasn’t seen him at all, right? Jung Joo says she hasn’t. Poong San – the eternal matchmaker – says that he heard that Gun Woo will get on a flight right after the party. Her face says she is worried that that will happen. Poong San asks if he should have Gun Woo come so they can have a farewell party on their own. Full of awkwardness. But at least Poong San would be matchmaking!

Jung Joo answers that she has plans that night. Poong San tries not to look like he doesn’t want it to be with Mayor as he asks if she’s going to be seeing Mayor at Sorang Fish Restaurant. So he must know that that’s where Mayor would propose because of Jong Bae.

Mayor is in fact over at Jong Bae’s asking him to set it up for tonight. Jong Bae doesn’t look excited. Because he knows that Gun Woo should get the girl, for all the heart ache that kid has been through. Jong Bae points out that Miss Lee will be really busy preparing for Hae Shil's wedding. (And when he says ‘Miss Lee’ he’s saying ‘Miss Lee’ not a Korean version of it.). He suggests they do it when things have calmed down after the party. Mayor says that getting the ring took longer than he thought, but to make it an even playing field, he has to do it before tomorrow.

Jong Bae says that the probability of successful proposals isn't high at his place. Mayor says Mayor should reconsider the place and the time again. Mayor says that he’s already prepared for rejection this time. But he still has another chance, so he’s going to play things fair this time around. So when did you not play fair? Oh, right when you lied to Jung Joo so she wouldn’t believe the many times that Gun Woo confessed. You need to confess that, dude, for it to be playing fair. (And Korean for fair play is ‘pair play’ – why isn’t there an ‘f’ sound in Korean?)

Mayor goes and Jong Bae is burdened so much that he is sitting with his face in his hand. He sighs. He’s been cheering on Mayor so far, but what about Maendorong? President Jin was really nice to him... Should he repay GWD’s kindness?

Gun Woo arrives at the restaurant when Poong San calls. He tells Gun Woo not to come. He’ll go over to the resort. Gun Woo wants to know why. Poong San says that he was going to hold a farewell party for Gun Woo, but Jung Joo said no because she has plans with the mayor tonight. Poong San supposes that Mayor’s proposing because Gun Woo provoked him to. Gun Woo sighs. Poong San asks if he should see what happens and tell Gun Woo. Gun Woo tells him to forget it. He doesn't want to know.

Gun Woo says that he was busy anyway, so it worked out. Poong San asks how far away Gun Woo is, since he said he was on his way. Gun Woo lies and says that he hasn't even left yet. He’ll just come tomorrow. He hangs up and sighs. Life just sucks for him right now. She doesn’t want to see him. The other guy’s proposing. He’s leaving everyone he loves tomorrow.

Gun Woo gets a text from Jong Bae. He tells Gun Woo to meet him at Miss Lee's shabby house. They have some covert work to do. As we hear Jong Bae speak the text, he’s very conspiratorial. He tells Gun Woo to come and cooperate with him. There’s that cooperate word again. If I was Gun Woo I wouldn’t go. I’d be worried that I’d be helping set up Jung Joo’s proposal.

Jung Joo comes down the stairs of the Warm and Cozy, telling Mayor that she’s on her way. Poong San stops her and asks if that’s what she’s wearing. Isn’t she going on a date? Jung Joo laughs and says that this is how she usually dresses. Poong San sighs because Jung Joo hasn't caught on at all. She is rather thick when it comes to her own love life.

Jong Bae hurries in and says that something more urgent came up. Yay. He’s helping Gun Woo. He says that someone wants to buy her old house. She needs to go and meet with him right now.

Jong Bae gets her there, and it’s all decorated with tons of balloons and the like. Gun Woo steps out of one of the bedrooms. They are shocked to see each other. Jung Joo sputters and Gun Woo asks why she’s there. So Jong Bae didn’t tell him, either. Jung Joo says that someone wants to buy the house... They look at Jong Bae. He avoids their eyes and runs. He locks them inside. Low, so Jung Joo can’t hear, he tells Maendorong that this is his heart. It’s Gun Woo’s last chance, so do your best!

Inside, Jung Joo tries to get out and then gives up because the door is locked. Gun Woo wonders if this what Jong Bae meant by cooperation? It looks like a surprise set up for Jung Joo and the mayor. It feels like he’s in the wrong place. Jung Joo asks, “Surprise?” Gun Woo tells her to take a look. This is a prepared lock-up. Jung Joo can’t believe it.

Jung Joo asks for Gun Woo’s handphone to call Jong Bae. Gun Woo says that it’s in the car. Where’s hers? Jung Joo says that Jong Bae wanted to borrow it on their way there... They both sigh as they realize that Jong Bae has her handphone.

Over by his restaurant, Jong Bae is carrying the handphone. He jumps when it buzzes. It’s Mayor. Jong Bae spots Mayor in a dashing suit with a bouquet of red roses. He quickly answers the phone and, in his best imitation of Jung Joo, apologies because something suddenly came up... She can’t go today. She’s sorry! And he hangs up. Head scratch from Mayor.

Inside the shack, Jung Joo heads back to the decorated room. Gun Woo takes off his shoes and sits, saying that they have everything. The spread looks nice. Green and red grapes. Cheese, wine. Water, other fruit. Bagged food. He says that it won't be a problem even if they’re locked up in there for a few days. There’s even a cake. Jung Joo asks if this makes any sense? She tells him to push her up so she can try to get out through the roof. Gun Woo answers that he doesn't have that kind of energy. Think about her weight. How can he lift her up there? Heh. Way to call the girl you like fat. She wants his shoulders.

Gun Woo tsks and says that Jong Bae will be there soon to open the door for them. Why is she risking danger to try and leave? Does she think it'll be dangerous to be stuck in there with him? Jung Joo laughs, insulted and asks what can be dangerous with him. He’s just Baek Gun Woo. Gun Woo takes exception to being referred to as 'Just Baek Gun Woo.' He can’t believe it. It wasn't that long ago when she was anxious about him and wanted him. Jung Joo mutters, “Wanted you, my ass.” Gun Woo says that he’s the endangered one, since he knows her true nature. Vampire carp!

Gun Woo says that if he doesn’t want to get eaten alive, he should eat something. He asks if she wants something. She says that she’s fine. He asks her to come over and sit by him. They haven't seen each other in a while and they don't have much time, either. She asks if he’s leaving right after the wedding tomorrow? He is. Should they have a farewell party? Jung Joo softly agrees.

Mayor sadly puts down his bouquet – of 3 dozen roses! Jong Bae approaches and says that he doesn't think Miss Lee is coming today. Mayor shouldn't be there like this. He should go home. Sadly, Mayor says that he didn't think it would work out today. He (Gun Woo) is leaving tomorrow... She must be thinking about that right now. Jong Bae asks why he did all this if he thought that? Yes, Mayor, why? Are you a masochist? Mayor replies that he wanted her to know that he’s hot too. He wasn't just going to stay quiet and move into the space next to her. He was also hot... and intense enough to feel pain. He wanted her to realize that.

It’s various fruit back at the Shack. Gun Woo says that even as a master chef, this is all he can do with the ingredients they have. He holds out a stick of it for her to eat. As she tries to, he pulls it away, saying, “Bite it, Carp.” She gets annoyed and refuses to eat it. He protests that he was just kidding around so it would cool since it's hot. He blows on it and says that it's cooled now. He holds it out again and this time Jung Joo takes a bite.

She tells him to stop the pranks. She’s worried about the ghost that haunts the house. The realtor told her that it’s haunted and that’s why the house wasn't getting sold. Gun Woo laughs at ridiculousness of that. Creepy ghost story voice by Jung Joo, along with sound effects. A woman was waiting for her husband, who went inland to earn money. She was waiting and waiting and then she died alone. Since then, whenever a man from the inland enters this house – this gets his attention, although I would argue that he’s from Jeju now – the female ghost checks to see if he's her husband.

Jung Joo reaches her hands toward Gun Woo’s face, weakly saying “Yeobo. Yeobo.” He tells her to stop it. Stop coming toward him. He’s not scared is he? Then... when she finds out that he's not her husband... she just… Jung Joo lunges at him, hands crouched to strangle him. Gun Woo doesn’t even flinch, just glares at her. They sits there, looking at each other. Jung Joo starts to put her arms down, but Gun Woo grabs them and shoves himself into her arms. Gently he puts his hand on her back and says that she’s the one who scared him... so take responsibility for him. He’s so scared that he needs to stay like this for some time. And I think he’s talking about the future, not the story, and it’s not just an excuse to hug her, because he definitely wants that.

He tells her that she liked him so much, that he must have become a good person. Now he can think of how she might feel ahead of time. She squeezes him a little more. He says that he’s been doing things on a whim and doing them his way. He did whatever he wanted, believing that she’d still like him then. He tells her not to be upset or get hurt because of him now. He will... let her go. Way to tell her that you know exactly what you did and how much it hurt her. Rip out my guts, Gun Woo. She pulls her arms tighter so she can lock her hands – so he can’t let her go. They hug for a moment and then he lets go.

Smiling, he says that they’re done with the farewell party. Jung Joo is not smiling. She’s struggling. Gun Woo says that they should go. There should be a gap in a wall in that back room. They can leave through there. Jung Joo asks what the scariest thing would be that the female ghost could say to her horrible husband who left for the inland? She looks at him and answers her question: 'The moment you left, I forgot it all.' 'I won't wait, even for a second.' Then she tries to be chipper and says that that would be the scariest thing to say, wouldn't it? He’s obviously affected and is about to cry. Gun Woo looks away.

Jung Joo tells him to clean everything up. She’ll leave first. She’ll see him tomorrow. She gets up and goes. He looks at the floor as she stops so she’ll keep going. Then he watches her back and says that that is really scary.

Jung Joo arrives at the Warm and Cozy. Poong San has her handphone. He says that Mayor kept calling. Didn’t they meet? No. Then he didn't propose to noona? Jung Joo is shocked. Poong San explains that Mayor says said that he'd propose to her there.

Mayor has arrived outside the Warm and Cozy as Jung Joo calls him. So she didn't have her handphone? No. He kept calling because he was just worried about her. Nothing else. They don't need to see each other tonight. He's already home. And he gets busted when Jung Joo comes outside and sees him. He tries to recover. Jung Joo apologizes. He sighs and says that what he really doesn't understand these days is, how much must he step forward and how much must he step back? He even searched the Internet and found the poem that expresses exactly how he feels:

If I wait, I don't think you'll come.
If I draw near you, I don't think you'll like it.
But to give up on you...
I like you too much.

His voice starts to break on that last line. Jung Joo tells him that he is such a nice person. Dagger to the heart. Mayor answers that he doesn't think he should just be a nice person. This is it for today. He’ll continue tomorrow. He shoves the bouquet into her and starts to walk off. Jung Joo stops him and says that she goes when she says she’ll go, and she stops when she says she’ll stop. She’ll give it a lot of thought tonight and she’ll tell him for certain tomorrow. She won't make him wait because she was being hesitant. Mayor says that from standing behind her, to standing next to her, and now standing before her... He’ll hear the final judgment. He leaves.

Jong Bae is back at the Shack with Gun Woo. He says that he worked hard in setting up this chance, so why couldn't Gun Woo say anything? Gun Woo answers that it all was useless. He and Jung Joo won't be able to see each other, so what could he say? Jong Bae asks why Gun Woo didn't explain about his father? Gun Woo answers that he doesn't want to talk about him to her. Jong Bae says that GWD may not be such a bad person.

This surprises Gun Woo. He’s running away like this because of what Dad did. He's not a bad person? And he’s not bitter, just surprised. Jong Bae says that he really thinks the two should meet. Gun Woo says that Dad promised never to appear before him ever again. He won't ever come back either. Jong Bae says that he’s going to think about it for about a year. A year? Wow. If he thinks, 'These two should really meet,' then he’ll call Gun Woo, so cooperate with him. Heh. There’s that word again. Gun Woo answers that he’ll cooperate with Jong Bae.

Jong Bae says that *when* Gun Woo comes, he’ll give him a problem he has to solve. Gun Woo asks if that problem also involves Abeojim? Jong Bae says that he’s going to give it some serious thought and present the problem to Gun Woo. If he thinks it's okay for them not to meet one another, then he'll put the issue to rest. Gun Woo looks like he’s at least interested.

Jong Bae stands and says they should get up. Oh, and a ghost lives there. Gun Woo asks if it’s a resentful ghost who died after waiting for her husband who went inland? Jong Bae wants to know why she’d be resentful? She beat up that horrible jerk and the couple lived happily ever after. Gun Woo kind of deflates at the story being busted. Jong Bae says that when husbands cause trouble in this town... they used to lock them in there. He shudders and leaves. But doesn’t help Gun Woo put out the candles. Gun Woo shudders and leaves too. So the candles can burn down the Shack.

Hyung and Hae Shil are sitting by his pool. It won't rain tomorrow, will it? Hyung answers that they say it's good luck if it rains on your wedding day. If it doesn't rain, it'll be nice. If it rains, it's good luck. It's all good. Hae Shil mentions that she heard it's good luck to meet someone on a rainy day. Hyung says that now that he thinks about it, it rained when he first came to Jeju Island. That day... The person he saw on the coastal road still leaves a clear image in his memory.

Flashback. Hyung in the car with Jang on the phone, calling about a flight reservation. Hae Shil spots Hae Shil, sitting out in the rain. Hyung’s voice over says that it was the back of a woman who was looking out into the sea in the rain. He was looking at her and he felt pain and bad somehow... That's how he felt. And it doesn’t necessarily look like Hyung in the present thinks it’s her.

Hae Shil says that the impression of Jeju Island on his first day was loving and sad. He says that it's similar to the vibe she gives off. Hae Shil’s surprised. Is that how she is? Hyung wonders if it was her that he saw on his first day? She replies that their ties must be some kind of amazing fate. Hyung thinks that if it's true, then that's truly amazing. She laughs and they hold hands.

Wedding Day. Wedding preparations. [Jung Geun and Hae Shil, We Are Getting Married]

Noona is with Hae Shil, getting ready. She starts to call Hae Shil ‘ajumma’ but corrects herself and calls Hae Shil ‘sister-in-law’. Hae Shil is glad that she’ll finally get to say hello to Gun Woo. He's going abroad right after the ceremony. She asks where he’s going. Noona says that she heard it’s New York. Hae Shil wonders if it’s because he finds being around her uncomfortable? Noona laughs and asks why Gun Woo would feel uncomfortable with ajumma– Sister-in-Law and go abroad. Hae Shil agrees with that logic, but says that the fact he's leaving in a hurry, it looks like he's running away from something bad. It's a little bit odd. And she’s the only one with enough sense to be suspicious.

Hyung is with Gun Woo at the Warm and Cozy. He says they should say hello before the ceremony. Gun Woo agrees to it. He tells Hyung to make sure to keep his facial expressions in check so she won't think anything odd. Hyung apologizes again; he’s really sorry. Gun Woo tells him to stop it already! How many times has it been? That doesn’t make Hyung feel any better. Gun Woo sighs and says that he’ll have to leave before the ceremony is over because of the flight time. Hyung asks if he’s going to New York? Gun Woo says that he’s going to cancel that one. He got a direct flight to Hong Kong. He’ll stay there and travel around for now.

Hyung wants him to keep in touch with Lee Jung Joo. He will, right? Gun Woo shakes his head and says that if he keeps in touch with her... He stops – because he was going to say that he wouldn’t have the strength to stay away – and changes the subject. Hyung looks great today. Although I would rather Hyung not be wearing a bow tie.

Happy music and clapping as the couple enter arm in arm. Jang is the announcer. The couple exchanges rings.

Noona is sweating – and sitting next to Mayor. What a co-inky-dink. She tosses the hankie that she was patting the sweat with away, annoyed. Mayor notices. He picks it up, gets her attention and tells her that she shouldn’t litter. She takes it back and makes a face as she turns around – although she was not happy to begin with and has been chugging that champagne.

Hyung fastens the black pearl necklace around Hae Shil’s neck.

Inside, Jung Joo is setting up the tables. Gun Woo comes down the steps with his bag. Small talk and then he says that he should go now. Jung Joo can’t help herself and says, “Already?” He says that the food is ready and the lady divers are going to help serve it. She asks if he saw the ceremony. He did. He called a cab. He tells her bye. She tells him to take care. He looks at her, wanting to say something, but doesn’t.

As he starts to walk away, she says his name. She says that she’ll deposit the rent on time every month. He smiles and says that he’ll probably get a deposit confirmation text every month. She asks if he’ll reply when he receives it. He asks, in his teasing voice, “Why? Do you want to get a text from me?” Instead of saying ‘yes’ which is what she’s thinking… Jung Joo says that she just needs to check if he actually received the money. He smiles and says that that won't do. If he sends her a text, she’ll wait for the next one all month long. She tells him to forget and not send any.

Again he says to take care and has a hard time walking away. But he does and out the door. Jung Joo sits and looks at the Warm and Cozy. She gets a text from Gun Woo:

{Now I left, you're so sad that it drives you mad, doesn't it?}
{I hope you are. I thought about it all night and I am bad after all.}

She gets up and runs out after him. She doesn’t catch the taxi.

His text continues:

{I hope that things never work out for you with someone else.}
{There is no guarantee that I'll return and we didn't promise to wait for each other}
{But I hope you continue to like me and miss me.}
{I hope these mean words bursts the last balloon that remains in your heart.}

{Lee Jung Joo, keep liking me.}

As he drives away, he can’t stop the tears from coming. As she stands there left behind, her eyes start to well and she mutters that he’s a jerk. She asks herself if she’s crazy.

Hyung and Hae Shil cut the cake. Clapping. Jang announces for Hyung to cheer three times in front of the guests! Hyung frowns at him and says that there was no such thing in the agenda. Jang avoids looking at Hyung. Hyung clears his throat. Hae Shil stifles a smile. Hyung cheers – surprising her – “My cute bride! My adorable bride! My sweet bride!” The crowd laughs heartily and Noona is appalled. That silly idiot.

Poong San spots Dead Face Harpy in the audience. And, again, I almost didn’t recognize her. She’s scanning the crowd. He goes inside and asks noona if Gun Woo left. When he hears that Gun Woo did, he puts down what he was carrying and asks why she rejected Gun Woo when he liked her so much? Jung Joo laughs. Why would Gun Woo like her? Poong San answers that he said he liked her. To Poong San and other people, he said he really liked her. Jung Joo doesn’t know what to think. Poong San asks if she didn't say no when Gun Woo asked her to go with him? Jung Joo answers that Gun Woo is leaving with Dead Face Harpy. Poong San replies that Dead Face Harpy is here.

Poong San goes back outside and Dead Face Harpy finds him. After finding out that Gun Woo has left, she asks if Jung Joo is inside. What is she up to now? She is just an evil harpy. Tense music plays. Dead Face Harpy goes and finds Jung Joo. Dead Face Harpy starts the conversation by saying, “So, Gun Woo left by himself.” Jung Joo replies that Dead Face Harpy said Gun Woo asked her to go with him. Haughty, Dead Face Harpy asks if Jung Joo got the wrong idea. She meant that she’d follow Gun Woo to wherever he left for.

Jung Joo starts to yell at her. She misunderstood because of Dead Face Harpy! Why did Dead Face Harpy say it like that? Dead Face Harpy replies that she didn't like it when Gun Woo said that he'd hang onto Jung Joo. Jung Joo’s mouth drops open. She can’t argue with that, since Dead Face Harpy would be the last one to lie about something like that. Anyway, since Gun Woo left on his own, she’ll do what she decided. She waltzes out. Jung Joo reels.

Hyung comes inside and asks if Gun Woo left. So I guess everyone is going to fix it now. Hyung even left his new bride. She says that he did. He sighs, sadly. Did she see him off? She sighs her no. Hyung says that he didn't want to send him away all on his lonesome... Jung Joo catches the 'send him away'? Did Hyung send Gun Woo away? Hyung sighs and looks guilty.

Jung Joo asks if something happened to Gun Woo. He said he was leaving all of a sudden, but he didn't tell her why. Hyung answers that it's something he can't tell anyone. He probably couldn't tell her either. Hyung says that it may look like Gun Woo left on a whim without a sense of responsibility, but he gave Gun Woo a big load to carry on his shoulders. And Hyung is making me cry. Poor Gun Woo. Hyung asks that she please doesn't blame Gun Woo. Hyung goes back outside.

Jung Joo remembers Gun Woo’s words: I was desperate for something but I decided to just leave it behind. I think it may be much better. I don't feel confident about taking it with me. She runs for the shelves in the stockroom, desperate to find what it was that Gun Woo left. As Poong San asks what she’s doing, she finds them. The plane tickets and the necklace. One ticket falls to the ground as she stares at the necklace. Poong San picks up the other ticket and says that it has her name on it. Poong San sighs and says that the date has passed already. Gun Woo must have made a reservation and canceled them since she didn't want to go. See? Gun Woo wanted to leave with her.

Jung Joo’s legs give out and she has to sit. She starts to cry as she holds the necklace to her heart. Poong San hurries out and tells Mayor to go check on her. Mayor is carrying the engagement ring with him. Mayor finds her deflated in the storeroom, the necklace dangling from her hand as she holds the tickets. He asks if she’s okay. She wipes her face and tries to look like she is. Mayor’s guilt finally catches up with him. He rubs his face and then squats next to her. He says that he thought about it... He did something wrong... in order to not be a nice person. He hid something from her. That night, Gun Woo came to pick her up. She looks at him, shocked.

Mayor adds that everything he said that she couldn't believe... was all probably true. Mayor stands and says that now he told her everything... he feels much better. Jung Joo starts crying again. Mayor announces that he’ll just be a nice person now. He’s just a nice person. He tells her that she should go now. Gun Woo went to the airport, right? Go catch him. And Jung Joo runs. Left behind, Mayor’s eyes water.

In the airport, Jung Joo hunts for Gun Woo. In the wrong place because she thinks he’s going to New York. She thinks: “Gun Woo... Now that you left, I feel like I'm going crazy.” As she searches, she thinks about all the things that he said, that she believes now:

Holding her hand on his heart and saying that he’s really hot right now.
Telling her not to go anywhere else and asking if she wants to come with him?
Holding her hand when she comforted her and saying that no matter how much he thinks about it, he should hang onto her.

Jung Joo thinks that she didn't believe what he said. To believe those words, she didn't feel confident enough. He was as desperate as she was, wasn’t it? She starts to cry again as she wonders where he is. She promises that whatever he thinks, she’ll keep liking him.

No recipe today. Arg!

Thoughts

Gun Woo really made me cry this episode. More than once. The poor guy. At least Jung Joo’s eyes were opened. It only took 4 different people telling her: Dead Face Harpy, Poong San, Hyung and Mayor.

So what are they going to do now?

I love that Noona and Mayor finally met… and are less than impressed with each other. Heh. Ah, Mayor, that’s your future wife. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed that Poong San snags Mayor’s niece, too.

Now, if I was Hae Shil, I would be ticked at Hyung when I found out. He did that to his own brother?! And didn’t trust her enough to deal with it?! He would be in the dog house until he brought his brother back.

Man, we only have 2 episodes left to get Gun Woo and Jung Joo back together and get Gun Woo reconciled with his exonerated Dad. How are they going to do that in 2 hours? Hong Sisters, do not make this a lame ‘Big’ ending!!!
