Oh My Ghostess Episode 4 Recap

Episode begins with the confrontation with Granny and Sun Woo remembering Bing Go’s words. He tells himself – not sounding too confident – that there's no such things as ghosts. He grabs a flashlight out of a drawer and decides to look downstairs. Soon Ae hides. Why isn’t he just switching on the light? He gets so close to where Soon Ae’s hiding that he steps on her fingers. Dog starts barking. Sun Woo mutters about that stalker dog.

He starts to walk away, so Soon Ae decides at that moment to switch hiding places. Even though he wasn’t going to be looking anymore at where she is. Sun Woo hears her and catches her. When he realizes that it’s her, *then* he turns the light on. Amazed, he asks what the heck she’s doing there. She doesn’t really reply.

They’re sitting at a table now. And I’m noticing the two types of light in the background. Halogen orange in the dining area and fluorescent blue in the kitchen. You can’t white balance for both of them… Sun Woo sums up her plan: She was going to break in there and sleep? Soon Ae says that the term 'breaking in' isn't quite right. And it was only for one night. He knows that’s not true. If he hadn't have caught her, she would've stayed two, three days or longer. She tells him that she’s in a really difficult situation. There's the whole money issue and she’s in no position to decide on a place. Can't they work something out? Sun Woo says they can’t.

Soon Ae isn’t going to just take ‘no.’ She says that she’ll sleep quietly and be gone when people arrive. He tells her that she still can’t. Would she like it if someone slept on the table she ate off of? Why would she sleep on a table and not on one of the benches? And this is a restaurant, not a hostel. She whines that the only place she can go is the subway station. He tells her to sleep at a friend's place. She answers that she doesn't have any friends. He says a motel. She says that you go there with a man. Why would she go there alone? Sun Woo can’t believe that Soon Ae would say that. Let alone, think it. Girls are, after all, supposed to be chaste and virginal.

She asks him to let her stay just this once. Consider it as helping out a homeless person. Huh? She starts poking him, full of aegyo, and making noises asking him to do it. He laughs and looks away.

But she pushes it too far, because he kicks her out. She wonders if he had to get so angry just because she acted cute? She wonders where she’s supposed to go now? She’s getting desperate. At least he could let her leave her stuff there. She does the Korean version of ‘eenie, meanie, miney, moe’ and ends up outside Myung Ho’s restaurant. He’s drinking alone. She almost goes inside.

But instead, she ends up at a jjimjilbang. She enjoys the boiled egg. She makes the moves on a cute guy and when she gets busted, she pretends like she’s asleep. There’s a commotion and Soon Ae goes to check it out. A girl is frantically stuffing eggs in her mouth. Someone says that she’s already had two trays. She must be crazy. Soon Ae looks and knows what’s going on. She glares at the girl. The girl sees her. She motions for girl to come talk to her. The punk ghost that was giving her a hard time at the funeral home stops possessing the girl.

Now in a sauna area, Soon Ae points out how Punk Girl was the one yelling at her for possessing someone; what about her! It’s interesting how Punk Girl’s got a bluish tinge to her. Props to the makeup and lighting people! It really points out the difference between Punk Girl and Soon Ae in Bong Sun’s body. PunkGirl answers that it’s not easy to get food from ancestral rites these days? The ghost population is increasing while there are fewer ancestral rites. Think how desperate she must've been. To possess a skinny chick like that to fill her tummy. PG laughs and says that Soon Ae doesn’t seem to be in a better situation herself.

Soon Ae admits that she’s trapped. PG asks what Soon Ae’s going to do. She heard that in the worst cases, it could be forever. Soon Ae moans and say that she knows. That's why she’s stuck being a kitchen helper now. She adds that it's not all that bad. It's fun. Living like a human after being a ghost for a while. She met her dad and she’s getting back most of her memories. PG asks what Soon Ae’s going to do if she ends up wanting to stay like this forever? Soon Ae doubts it. Why would she, when she knows that after three years, she’d turn into an evil spirit.

PG says that that’s her point exactly. She shouldn't think lightly of evil spirits. The recent happenings in society... Such as depravities, crimes, abductions, and dismemberments... All are the work of evil spirits. They are the ones going around possessing humans. All of them? Because humans don’t do those things when they’re not possessed, right? Soon Ae says that she knows that, too. That's why she’s worried. Meeting her dad was nice and all, but she needs to resolve her virginity grudge and get rid of any regrets so that she can ascend. PG nods. Soon Ae moans that, damn it, finding a man of vitality is like asking for the moon. Has PG ever seen a man of vitality?

Outside the room, some ajummas are watching Soon Ae talk to herself. They worry that she might be crazy. She's been at it for two hours. It draws a crowd.

Next morning, Soon Ae whines as she drags her stuff around. She couldn't even get proper sleep thanks to that couple next to her. Shouldn't they just go to a motel or something? Kids these days have no decency. As she muttering a man walking past stops and taps her on the shoulder. It’s Sung Jae, out of uniform. He smiles at her and says that she’s going to work early. She nods and says that she is. He notes the sword. She says that she won it from a claw machine. He grabs a couple of bags and says that he’ll carry them.

They end up eating ramen. Sung Jae is really slurping down the ramen. He looks at Soon Ae and tells her thanks for being his ramen friend. If it wasn't for her, he'd be eating alone. She asks if she shouldn’t go home and have rice instead? He says that after night shifts, he craves ramen. But, Eun Hee doesn't like it when he eats ramen, so sometimes he secretly eats it before he goes home.

Soon Ae says that Sung Jae must really love her. He looks up and asks, “Who? Eun Hee?” He thinks a moment and says that it seems like he does, with a smile. You guess you love your wife? It seems like it? Soon Ae asks when Sung Jae got married. Did he know right away that she was the one? And did Eun Hee like him first? Or, did he go for her first? Sung Jae looks at her and says that, obviously, he went for Eun Hee first. He hardly blinks. Soon Ae looks a little sad at that.

Sung Jae says that she must've had a lot of interest in Eun Hee and he. She smiles and says that as long as he’s happy. She itches her head and musses her head. He tries to tell her, but she doesn’t get it, so he reaches over and straightens down her hair for her. That’s a bit to familiar there, Sung Jae. Why are you seeming less like a nice guy? Please let him be a nice guy. Soon Ae looks away and wonders why Sung Jae is so considerate? It makes it difficult for her to let go.

He asks if she’s not going to eat. Flustered she shoves a big bite in her mouth and, even though he warns her, she burns herself. Oops.

Eun Hee turns on some classical music and thinks of herself when she was a graceful ballerina. Aw. She used to dance. That sucks. Pan down to her feet, which don’t move. She greets Soon Ae as she enters and Soon Ae is snippy with her. Because she’s irritated that Eun Hee won’t let her husband eat ramen. Soon Ae walks away muttering about ramen. When Eun Hee asks, Soon Ae lecturers her on ramen. Ramen is also food. It's not like she eats ramen every day. And she’s not going to live thousands of years. And it seems like people who like organic foods tend to get sick more often and catch colds easily. She walks off and Eun Hee blinks several times, wondering what brought that on.

In the kitchen, Min Soo is groaning. Maybe he overdid it last night. His mouth tastes like a sewer. Joon doesn’t seem that bad off, except when Min Soo breathes in his direction. I love Joon. Min Soo says that they’re banning cream today. Don't even mention the word ‘cream.’ And then Min Soo almost throws up – except for the plastic bag that Ji Woong hands him that he uses like someone would if they were hyperventilating.

Dong Chul asks if he wants some water. Min Soo groans that water will make him puke too. If he ever mixes drinks again, he’s seriously Dong Chul’s dongsaeng, okay? And in reality, he *is* younger than Dong Chul. He just doesn’t know it. Soon Ae cheerfully enters the kitchen, no worse for wear. Min Soo groans at her. Is she that undisciplined? Is she the only person who drank last night? Soon Ae smiles at him and says that she wasn't even that late. She grabs his arm, asks what's wrong, and calls him Oppa.

Min Soo pulls his arm away and asks why he’s her Oppa. Did his mother give birth to her? Why is he her Oppa? She pokes him as she says that he told her to call him Oppa last night. Oppa. Min Soo laughs that that’s total nonsense. Doesn’t she know how much he dislikes her? She’s not supposed to remember any drunk antics. That's manners. Right? Everyone else chimes in their agreement.

Sun Woo enters and notices Soon Ae giving him the stink eye. He doesn’t say anything. He asks Min Soo how much he drank the night before and when Min Soo breathes his direction, Sun Woo has to fan the air it smells so bad. Sun Woo says that he said for Min Soo to control himself better and puts Dong Chul in charge of sauce.

Sun Woo goes over to the front desk and notices Eun Hee smiling over a her phone. It’s her friend’s baby who just turned one. Eun Hee coos that the baby is so pretty. And he is pretty stinking adorable. Sun Woo says that he’s not that pretty. He really dislikes babies and animals. You can't even communicate with them. Even though he’s adopted a dog. She knows he’s full of it and says that she’s sure he'll be the most loving one to his niece or nephew. He asks if she wants one. She says that she does. Lately, she’s been having thoughts like maybe because she wants it so bad, they aren't letting her have one.

So Hyung calls and gives Sun Woo a hard time for how he answered the phone. 'Yes, why?' is so deflating to hear. He asks why she’s in attack mode this morning. She stayed up all night, huh? She replies that he knows her too well. She asks if he can come by a bit for today. They need a few more scenes for the preview. She tells him to bring Bong Sun. He hesitates, but brings her.

In the car, she mentions how she slept – or didn’t sleep – at a jjimjilbang. He replies that he didn’t ask. She mentions how everyone thinks that the burnt rice pollack soup was his idea. He tells her not to spin her wheels. It's been aired already and it wasn't noticeable. If she wants to use that to sleep at the restaurant, forget it. That's done. She groans and gives him the stink eye again.

At the station, So Hyung explains what they’re planning. Then, as she’s straightening some papers, she gets a paper cut. Sun Woo immediately over-reacts and tells her that she should've been more careful! Why is she so klutzy? This gets a look from Soon Ae. So Hyung looks a little surprised, as in Sun Woo is acting strange, as well. As he tends to it, So Hyung tells him that it’s actually her finger. People will think she stabbed him or something. Sun Woo then remembers that there are other people around and says that he’s just saying... she should be more careful in general. He sounds really convincing.

One of So Hyung’s sunbaes enters and sits next to her. Like *right* next to her, personal space next to her. He’s heard that she worked all night so she should get some sleep when she can. Sun Woo sits back on the couch. And his face is a little wary of this guy. She mentions his upcoming business trip to China. Sunbae says that he hates going to duty free shops. But, for her, if she wants, he’ll gladly go buy her a present. She tells him to just get his wife something. When Sun Woo hears ‘wife,’ his face scrunches – you can almost hear him go ‘wife?!’ – and he sits back up to look at this guy. Soon Ae is watching the whole thing, taking it all in.

Sunbae laughs. Wife? He doesn't need to buy a present for his wife. She gets his entire paycheck. Sunbae keeps pushing to buy So Hyung a gift. She’s wearing a forced smile. Sun Woo starts rolling the script he has up so that it will resemble a club. Heh. I can just see him wanting to punch this guy. Sunbae gets an idea. Does So Hyung want to just come to China? Sun Woo’s face is killing me right now, the jealousy in those eyebrows. Sun Woo can’t believe this guy just invited So Hyung to go to China. So Hyung looks surprised.

Sunbae says that he can get a room and wait for her. She should seriously consider it. Sun Woo almost slaps the guy with the rolled up paper, but restrains himself. So Hyung tells Sunbae to cut it out. Doesn't he ever get tired of constantly hitting on her? With this much effort, he would've had several affairs by now. Sunbae says that that’s his point exactly. He reaches over and starts to massage her shoulders as he says that there aren't any men with devotion like him.

Sunbae touching her is the last straw. Sun Woo glares at him and says that they were in the middle of a conversation. He says that some people have zero manners and tosses down his script in disgust. So Hyung takes Sunbae’s hands off her shoulders. Sunbae apologizes and says he was rude. Sitting back, Sunbae mutters, “Gee, so scary.” Soon Ae has watched the whole thing. Sunbae gets a phone call and when he answers it, his car key falls out of his pocket. He hurries off.

Sun Woo gets up and sits in Sunbae’s seat, asking why Sunbae is so rude. As he sits down, he pockets Sunbae’s car key. Soon Ae sees him do it. So Hyung tells Sun Woo to just ignore him. He's always like that. And should be fired for sexual harassment, if he’s always like that.

After the shoot is over, So Hyung walks them out. She tells Soon Ae that she must have been born to be in front of the camera. She keeps a straight face, and she's so good. Soon Ae replies that she thinks someone else is better at keeping a straight face. When Sun Woo asks what she’s saying. She tells him never mind. It's just that. And her face says that she loves knowing this secret of his. Sunbae hurries up and asks if So Hyung has seen his car keys. Sun Woo conveniently keeps walking. When So Hyung says that she hasn’t, Sunbae groans. It was in his pocket. Today's his wife's birthday, so they’re supposed to get dinner. And there's a bouquet in his car. So he’s not a total inconsiderate jerk.

So Hyung extricates herself from that conversation and proposed that they go for some chicken and beer. Her treat. Bong Sun included. Soon Ae says that chicken and beer sounds good. Sun Woo – his voice correcting – says that they need to get to the restaurant. So Hyung makes a face and says that sometimes the owner should be absent so the workers can breathe. They should just eat and go. Sun Woo’s going to not do it, until So Hyung adds that she’s hungry, too. Sun Woo immediately changes his tune since she’s hungry. And it’s really obvious because he was starting to go through a revolving door and had to practically fight the door to step back into the building. Quite amusing. So Hyung will meet them at the bar across the street after she drops something off at her office. She runs upstairs and Soon Ae’s face says that she’s processing it all.

At the restaurant, as Sun Woo takes a drink of water, she asks if he likes PD Lee, right? She's not just a friend, right? Sun Woo spits the water out in surprise. What? Because he thought he was so smooth. Smiling, Soon Ae says that she figured it all out before. He 'like' likes her. She wiggles her index fingers, almost like they’re going to kiss each other. Sun Woo, of course, poo-poos the idea. What the heck is she doing? They’ve been friends for how many years now. He tells her to go home, if she’s going to talk nonsense. No chicken for her.

Soon Ae acts like she’s going to go and catches Sun Woo off guard as she grabs for, and gets, the car keys. What’s this? Huh? Huh? It’s not Sun Woo’s. Then whose is it? Sun Woo orders her to give it back now. Soon Ae says that she’s not sure if he has any right to ask for it when he isn’t the owner. She says that she saw everything. She saw him taking this. He glances toward the door to make sure that So Hyung isn’t coming. He reaches for the key and she pulls it away, asking why he’s acting like that. So imprudent. His taking this away from her won't solve anything. Before... when Sunbae was hitting on PD Lee, he was annoyed, right? So, he stole the key on purpose, right?

Sun Woo sputters as he tries to sound like she’s crazy. Why is she going on and on about writing a novel? He reaches for it again, with another ‘give it to him now.’ She pulls it away and tells him that he should know better. This is a negotiation. He lets her crash in the hall. There’s a pause as he glares at her and then he lunges for the key. Too slow. He asks where she learned to be so malicious. She tells him that he’s not in a position to be aggressive here. If the fact that Sun Woo stole this key gets revealed, imagine what PD Lee would think. This is a criminal act. Theft. She is so wrong. But I would do it.

Sun Woo jumps up out of his seat, saying, “What?” And that’s when So Hyung arrives. Soon Ae quickly stuffs the key in her pocket. So she doesn’t bust Sun Woo. So Hyung asks why they’re just standing around. Did they order the chicken? Soon Ae cheerily says that they did and sits, singing that it looks yummy. Sun Woo squirms a little and then sits. He tries to look casual and Soon Ae smiles at him sweetly. He laughs, not thinking that it’s funny. He drinks some water.

Soon Ae and So Hyung are eating. Sun Woo is still drinking water. So Hyung asks him about it. Is he dieting? That makes him take a bite. Soon Ae picks up a fork, eats the chicken on it and declares that chicken really is the truth. So Hyung nods in agreement. Soon Ae brings up the keys. Did that sunbae find his car keys? Sun Woo really tries to look disinterested – but we know he’s dying on the inside. So Hyung says that he ended up calling a locksmith and threw a fit, saying what a waste of money it was. So Hyung says that it’s his fault for losing it. Who can he blame? Soon Ae nods.

So Hyung says that if he weren’t her Sunbae, she’d want to – clubbing motion and sound effect – just do something to him. He's a bit immature. Sun Woo replies that he seemed that way. And he sounds nervous. Soon Ae looks at him and then turns to So Hyung. Sunbae must be really angry. It’s supposed to cost a lot of money. Could someone have done it on purpose? Like someone with a grudge. She is so wrong. I love her. So Hyung frowns at the thought. That seems so childish. Soon Ae agrees: Yes, it would be childish. She looks at Sun Woo and repeats that it’s very childish! Sun Woo asks for more water for the table. Heh.

Soon Ae fiddles with her pocket and says that something in there’s really uncomfortable. What is this... what could it be? Sun Woo leans forward like he’s interested. Although you can totally tell that she’s torturing him right now. Ah, it's a gum wrapper. Sun Woo can’t stifle a bit of a groan. Oh, but there's something else in there. Yeah, there's another thing. It's really large and heavy. Sun Woo yells a ‘Ya!’ at her. Soon Ae and So Hyung look at him. Wasn’t Soon Ae saying she needed to go to the restroom before? He has to go, too. Let's go. She knows she has him as she tells So Hyung that they’ll be right back.

In the back, Sun Woo wrist-shoves her into a corner and then asks if she’s going to keep playing around? She asks what she did. Sun Woo can’t believe that she’s acting innocent. Does she think this is a card she can play? What if he says that he found it somewhere? Soon Ae replies that even if he found it, it's strange to keep it until now. It's not like they didn't see him running around like crazy to find it. This situation would look suspicious to anyone. Sun Woo blinks several times because he knows he’s stuck.

Soon Ae says that she’ll be going, if he’s done talking. Wrist grab to pull her back. It’s extremely painful for him to have to say it, but he does. It's only until she can find a place. She titters and says that that’s a given. If she says otherwise, she’d be a bullshitter. She slaps his arm and adds that even if he asked her to stay longer, she can't stay. He holds out his hand for the key. She shakes it instead. He slaps her hand away and demands the key.

He grabs for them, but Soon Ae pulls them away. He’s not going to take these and back out, right? Annoyed he grabs them and asks if she thinks he’s like her. She smiles and pats his arm, saying that that worked out well for them. She does a two-fisted fighting and walks away. He can only stutter ‘that girl’ after her.

Later, Sun Woo and Soon Ae return to the restaurant. She’s pestering him for details. He’s ignoring her… or trying to. Well, when did it start? Was it at first sight? Or did it happen gradually and he didn't realize it? She asks why he doesn’t just confess his feelings since So Hyung is single. That is a good question. If he’s sure of his feelings, having been married once isn't a flaw. Just be resolute and go for it. Why hold in his feelings? If he does, they'll just turn to crap. If he hesitates like this, then some weird guy would just–

Sun Woo throws down the folder he was looking at and tells her to shut her mouth or she’s dead. She finger shoots at him, saying that he has charisma. He walks away, telling her to find a place quickly. He can't let her stay there long. She mutters about his temper and how he must really like her. She sticks her tongue out at him.

Upstairs, Sun Woo is muttering to himself, frustrated. Of all people, why Na Bong Sun? It’s so embarrassing. He starts to change his clothes. Downstairs, Soon Ae puts on some music and starts cooking. She’s having a grand time since she’s not having to sneak around. Whether you're a human or a ghost, you have to make use of your opportunities. Sun Woo goes downstairs and asks her what she’s doing. She’s making stir-fry rice. Does he want some? He tells her she can eat it all. She asks if he’s sure. Even ghosts with a full stomach look good. He yells at her to turn down the music and goes back upstairs.

Shortly, she comes up after him. He wants her to get out but she replies that she can’t eat this by herself when the smell is everywhere. He needs to just taste it. Sun Woo groans. She likes his room, although it’s not as clean as she thought it'd be. Dog starts barking as Sun Woo waves at her to leave. Soon Ae is pleasantly surprised that he has a dog. He tells her to be quiet. Doesn't she know that he doesn't eat rice? She needs to get out. She asks why he doesn’t. Why would a Korean not eat rice? Good question. Why would a Korean not eat rice? Did he eat rice and get really bad indigestion in the past? Almost whining, Sun Woo tells her that it’s none of her business. He’s tired. Just leave already. He reaches for the tray but she starts walking away, telling him to eat it if he changes his mind.

After she closes the door, he tells himself that that girl really isn't normal, that's for sure. He thinks about how she always used to just stand there and apologize. She couldn't even look him in the eye before. Then her yelling at him… speaking informally… snuggling him in the stairwell… blackmailing him with the key… How could a person change that much? There's nothing similar about her.

Sun Woo feeds the fried rice to Dog. And I notice he has a leash and collar today. Dog chows down. Sun Woo asks if it’s good. And he says that she’s stubborn. He could have at least tried the rice. Dog’s eating it like crazy... like crazy. It's still only rice. The music downstairs changes to some trot and Sun Woo complains to himself about her music choices. What's with her style of music? Where did she find music like that... He sighs. Today has been a really long day. Really long, really long...

Soon Ae has a dream of sinking deeper and deeper in the water and not being able to swim to the surface. I hope that’s not how she died. Horrible. She jolts awake and Sun Woo yells at her to get up already! People will come soon. He tells her to get ready quickly. People will get the wrong idea. Soon Ae gets up, and the boys arrive (minus Joon). They ask her what she’s doing. Did she come in early to clean up? She says that she just happened to wake up early today. Dong Chul calls her Bong Bong Roo Bong – why I don’t know – and asks why she looks like she slept outside somewhere. Ji Woong asks if she didn't go home. She’s wearing the same clothes. She says she’s not and is saved by Sun Woo coming in and telling them to get to work.

As the boys head back to the kitchen, he mutters at her to be careful, would you? Playfully, she says that it’s their little secret. They she creep away, says that they can’t get caught. Such a dork. But so cute. Sun Woo grabs his head and moans that he’s so stressed out. He’s even getting a headache. He must be getting a bad cold. Even dogs don't get colds in the summer.

In the kitchen, everyone is working… except for Min Soo, who is pretending to fence using a strainer for a mask and the sharpening steel as his epee. He pokes Dong Chul several times with it. Ji Woong and Dong Chul start flattering Min Soo and he totally buys into it. He’s totally wrapped up in showing off what a stud he is, when Joon says that they don't have any leeks. Min Soo remembers that he forgot to buy some, even though Chef told him to. Joon replies that today's special is basil pasta. They have to add leeks on top. Should he go to the market and buy some?

Min Soo – calling Joon Cordon – tells him that he needs to get some lessons on adaptability. Are leeks the main menu? It's not. Does basil pasta need leeks? Why not use the scallions over there? Of course, it’s not really about adaptability. It’s about Sun Woo not finding out that he forgot. Ji Woong tells Min Soo that he’s really clever. He’s smart. Min Soo starts preening again. He asks if he should prepare the scallions. Min Soo tells them that this is what they call 'thinking as you go.' This is why experience is important.

Sun Woo has arrived. He asks Ji Woong why the scallions. Before Ji Woong can answer, Min Soo asks Sun Woo what he thinks about putting scallions on top of the basil pasta? A change would be good. Sun Woo looks at him and says that he didn't buy the leeks, did he? Min Soo has to admit it. Sun Woo tells him good going. Then to the group in general, he expands his lecture. If the color is similar, you think it's okay to use? Why not just use a weed? Sun Woo asks where Bong Sun is. Soon Ae appears and asks if he has something to say to her? Like a secret? She’s just too cheerful. Sun Woo tells Min Soo to tell her to buy some leeks. Mad that he just got embarrassed, Min Soo tells her to be quiet and go buy some leeks.

Soon Ae sings as she walks: Where is the store for the leeks? Leeks... leeks. She comes across Myung Ho and helps him pick out some good sprouts for bean sprout soup. He’s happy to see her and grateful for her help. He thanks her and she replies that she’s not sure if she’s just burdening him by poking her nose into his business. He replies that it's not a burden at all. He doesn’t get what she’s referring to – their last conversation. She reaches to help him with his groceries, but he says he doesn’t need it. She smiles and says that he’ll find this burdensome too, right? He laughs.

Soon Ae helps him bring his groceries and he gives her a drink as a thanks. Doesn’t she need to be getting back with the leeks? She says that since he’s offering, she’ll drink it. She’s not one to find things like this burdensome or anything. He laughs again and tells her that she can stop now. He was wrong. She asks about what. He says that she was hurt by what he said, right?

He sighs and says that she holds quite the grudge, just like someone else he knows… his daughter. She was very easy going, but when she's pissed off, it lasted a while. One time she wanted a perm, but he told her to go later since we were busy. She was quite upset. Myung Ho sighs. What was the big deal? He should've let her do what she wanted when she wanted. He stops himself and apologizes. Strangely, he keeps talking about his daughter whenever he sees her. He admits that he was worried that she wouldn't be coming by again. She replies that she would've come for the food, at least.

She asks if he drinks a lot these days. He laughs and says that it’s just to kill time when he’s alone. She tells him that that's not okay. From now on, he should drink with her and not drink alone. She tells him that he might find this burdensome but there's no other way. When it comes to Soju, he’ll only drink with her. Okay? She makes him pinky promise.

As she leaves, she runs into Kyung Mo. He asks hat charity she gave this time. She replies that if he hates charity that much, why doesn't he go help his father? He tells her to just be straight. What is it? Does his dad look rich or something? Does she think the old man's got some money, huh? It’s not true. They rent that place and they barely make rent. She clears her throat at him and tells him that his head must be full of crap if that's all he can think of. She yells “Shush!” at him and then tells him not to drop honorifics, unless he wants to die. She walks away, calling him a punk.

He watches her walk away and wonders why she keeps hovering around them. Maybe it's him? Really? He likes that idea. Yes, it was about him. No wonder. Smiling he moans that he really doesn't like breaking a girl's heart. Looks like he’ll make another one cry.

Lunch rush. The cold is getting to Sun Woo. Min Soo tells him to go rest. Even though he’s going, he still reminds them what they need to do – even though they do it every day. He comes back three times with more things for them to remember. Min Soo herds him out of the kitchen. Eun Hee suggests that he go to see a doctor, since it looks like he has a fever. He says that he’s okay. He has cold medicine. He’ll be better after he gets some sleep. She tells him to take the whole day off and leave the kitchen to Min Soo. Sun Woo is reluctant to let go.

Sun Woo takes that cold medicine and lies down. So Hyung calls him. She gives him a hard time for how he answers the phone. She asks if he has a cold. His voice is all stuffy. He says that he does a little. She asks if she should bring him some medicine or porridge. He asks if she can even come. She says that she can’t. She has so much editing to do. The Chief saw the episode and suddenly threw a fit saying the set's too dark, so they’re going to have to push back shoot time. As he lays there, it’s evident that her voice is comforting. She asks if he’s very sick? He says that he isn’t and they hang up. He lays there, leaving the phone on his face.

Much later, he’s still miserable. Soon Ae returns to the restaurant and is happy that the Granny spirit went somewhere else. As she walks through the hall, she sighs that she feels most at home when I'm here. She wonders if she should take him up some rice porridge, since it's not good to take medication on an empty stomach. She tells herself to forget it. Why bother? She lies down on the bench and tells herself that being nosy is an illness too. She's so tired.

But she can’t sleep. She takes some rice porridge up to Sun Woo. He's unresponsive as she calls his name. She sits down next to him. And he is sweaty. She starts trying to get him up, because he really ought to have some rice porridge or something. If he has an empty stomach, he won't get better. She notices his fever and starts shaking him to get him to wake up. Sun Woo opens his eyes slightly and, as Soon Ae tells him that she’s brought some porridge so he should eat his medicine, he hallucinates that it’s So Hyung.

Soon Ae starts to get up, but he grabs her wrist. He takes her hand and puts it on his forehead. She asks if she should bring a wet cloth? He reaches up and pulls her into a kiss. At first, she’s shocked, but then she starts to enjoy it. Dog starts barking. That wakes Sun Woo up even more and he realizes what he’s doing. He shoves her away and asks what’s happening. She asks what he means. Sun Woo is totally freaked out. He asks what she’s doing there and how she got inside? Protest in her voice, she says that she came in there to bring him some rice porridge and he did this to her suddenly. Doesn't he remember?

Sun Woo looks away and realizes what he did. Without looking at her, he tells her to get out. She starts to laugh. But, she was just worried about him eating medicine on an empty stomach... He shoves at her and tells her to just hurry and go. She protests, but he ushers her out the door. She says that she’s just so confused. He just wants her to go. He gets her out of his room and closes the door quickly behind her. She’s ticked. Why's he getting mad? He's the one who did it!

Then it occurs to her. Wait a minute. They did it properly, right? Then, why is he totally fine? It’s her man of vitality!

Back in his room, Sun Woo can’t believe that he just did that… with her. Kang Sun Woo, you crazy idiot. Soon Ae comes back and timidly he asks what she wants. She asks if he’s okay. Is his heart beating really fast or pulse racing? Or is his temperature dropping and does he feel chilly? Is he feeling okay? She starts touching him, so he shoves her out again, saying that he’s fine and she should just please leave! He locks the door so she can’t get back in.

Soon Ae is outside, pounding on the door, asking if he’s totally fine? There's nothing wrong with his body? She’s overjoyed that he is fine and starts begging him to open the door. Since she wants to get back at it. Sun Woo just closes his eyes, mortified.

Soon Ae runs over to the jjimjilbang and checks with PunkGirl. She’s right, isn’t she? PunkGirl thinks that she is. Soon Ae rejoices that she found her man of vitality! She can finally shed this dreadful virgin ghost status and leave this place! They start screaming and she looks really crazy to everyone else.

The next day, Soon Ae is on the hunt. Chef hasn’t come down yet, so Soon Ae volunteers to go check on him. But Sun Woo enters and has been out at the market. He certainly looks better. That kissing must have gotten rid of his fever. Min Soo tells him that he looks totally great. He looked half-dead just yesterday. Something good must've happened last night. Sun Woo yells at him to go outside and get the meat. The boys go outside for the meat and Soon Ae gives him goo-goo eyes.

Sun Woo tries to ignore it but finally asks her what she wants. She scurries over and cutely asks what he wants. He looks away and down and says that he admits it. It was his mistake. He was wrong. He apologizes. She keeps leaning in to try to make eye contact with him and asks what he’s apologizing for. He looks away in the other direction as he says that it’s for what happened yesterday. He’d taken the medication and had a fever... Regardless, it was his fault so he apologizes. She keeps just smiling at him as she tries to get in his eye line. Or kissing line, as it were. He says that he doesn't like it being uncomfortable, so she shouldn’t put too much meaning behind it. Nothing will change between them, got it? He walks off but she’s undeterred.

He heads upstairs to change his clothes. She comes up after him and locks the door behind her. Alarmed, he asks what she’s doing and she proceeds to try to get him out of the clothes that he’s trying to put on. They end up falling backward on his bed, with her on top of him. He yells at her, asking if she’s crazy. She tells him that he should just assume that she’s crazy. It'll be easier for him that way. Sun Woo struggles, but Soon Ae is surprisingly strong. She tells him that she has a favor to ask. Can he do her one favor? She’d really like it if he did this favor for her. Sun Woo weakly asks what favor she wants. She says, “Just once... can you do it with me?” And I almost spew what I am eating.

It starts to rain. Sun Woo looks at her, in shock. He asks what she just says. She tells him that it's what he's thinking right now. He asks what she thinks he’s thinking right now? She asks – sounding pained – why he keeps asking. It's not like he doesn't know! Sun Woo struggles to get lose, but that ghost strength is helping Soon Ae out. She says that they’re both adults – first indirectly referring to Bong Sun and then changing it to apply to her. And yesterday, wasn't that like a sneak preview? So, they should negotiate. Anyways, it's not like it's a big deal.

Sun Woo yells at her to shut up! He thinks that she’s truly crazy. He tells her to go to the hospital. He’s finally able to squirm out from under her. She scurries after him, begging him.. just one time. She says, desperately, that she’s asking because of certain circumstances. He doesn’t even need to do it twice. Just once, exactly once. He yells and then lowers his voice, asking what her problem is. Does she think this makes any sense? What kind of girl has no pride like this? She wants to do what?

Soon Ae says that she doesn't need pride or any of that. So, he should just close his eyes and do it once. It's not like his body will change by doing it the one time. Right? He glares at her. Who is she, exactly? Is this the real her? Is she a con artist? She answers that she isn’t. He asks if she’s planning something on him? She protests that it’s not that at all! She knows that he has feelings for someone else. Person-to-person, just do this for her once. Can't he just think of it as giving a gift? Just once.

The guys come back in and Sun Woo yells at her to clean the dishes properly! He walks away with her scurrying after him, begging him ‘please just once!’ The boys wonder what she’s asking Chef for 'just once'? An advance? Time off? Min Soo notes that Sun Woo’s facial expression looks disturbed. The rest of the day, she scurries after him, grabbing at him and begging ‘just once!’ He tries to ignore her. Trips and falls and then runs. She runs after him. Eun Hee thinks it’s strange.

Later, Soon Ae heads up to Sun Woo’s room with a fried pancake. She sits on his bed and remarks on how good the mattress is. She lies down on it and says that it's so nice there. Sun Woo gets up and rolls her up in the blanket, like she’s a burrito. He picks her up and carries her away.

Later still, she tries to sneak into his room again, but Dog barks. Sun Woo glares at her and she slinks off. He gives Dog a thumbs up.

Sun Woo heads to bed and climbs in. Soon Ae is there waiting for him, asking for just once. He tells her to sleep there. She’s excited. But then he squirms away and says that he’ll go sleep somewhere else.

Somewhere else is Mom’s house. She’s shocked that he’s come by. He immediately heads to his room and climbs in bed. She smells the room and opens the window, to Sun Woo’s protest. He mutters for her not to bother herself. She asks if he wants some food. Should she make something for him… even though she can’t cook. He nods. She tells him to call if he needs something. She leaves and then immediately comes back to get him to wash up before he sleeps. Even though he already did that back at the restaurant. He protests that he just wants to sleep.

The commotion has gotten Eun Hee and Sung Jae out of bed. Sung Jae wonders what he’s doing there. Sun Woo stops by, but he never sleeps there. Mom agrees that it’s odd. She says that no matter what she does, he doesn't care and sleeps at the store. She asks Eun Hee how the restaurant is. Eun Hee says that he’s not been feeling well, but nothing else is going on... Mom grabs her phone and calls Bing Go, who tells her that they need to prepare and ancestral rite. Mom says that it's been bothering her that he has ghosts surrounding him. He's already got a strong vitality, as it is.

Mom wants Eun Hee to come with her tomorrow. They’ll go and ask about things. It'll be good. Camera pans to show Sung Jae’s face, for some reason. Like he’s thinking something. Eun Hee looks up and him and he gives her a smile, like he’s asking if she’s really going to humor her mother. It shrinks a little when Mom says that it’s a ghost.

Restaurant. Soon Ae asks where Sun Woo slept the night before. He asks why she cares where he slept. She says that she’s just curious. They have a close enough relationship for her to be curious. He just up and tells her to be quiet! He’s going to sew her mouth shut. He must really like Bong Sun for him not to fire her after how much she’s been harassing him. He walks away. Soon Ae says that she needs to come up with a plan quickly.

Dong Chul comes over and tells her to clean the break room. Then he asks why her face so flushed. Did she drink? Ji Woong feels her forehead and says that she has a fever. She caught a cold. She starts to argue but then thinks about their lip lock and groans that he gave it to her. They ask who and she whines that it’s a guy... man of vitality. He didn't even do it and gives her a cold. He has no manners. She walks off, muttering, to clean the break room.

Dong Chul and Ji Woong wonder what she’s talking about. Who is this man of vitality? Does she have a relative with the last name Yang (vitality)? She doesn't have relatives. What do you think he didn't do for her? They have no idea… but he didn't do what Bong asked him to do and just gave her a cold instead. Dong Chul groans that this guy really has poor manners. If only they knew what he didn’t do for her. Heh. He’s not sure who it is, but he is a shameless punk!

In the break room, Joon asks her about her face. Has she been drinking? She says that she caught a cold. She got infected from a certain somebody. He’s getting dressed in his chef outfit. He asks if she needs money. It seemed like she was asking the Chef for an advance. He tells her to ask him if it doesn't work out. He can lend her a million won. He goes out to the kitchen and Soon Ae thinks that that Cordon is really tempting. If he only knew what they were really talking about… What should she do? Should she give him another go?

Mom and Eun Hee have gone to see Bing Go. She asks for Sung Jae’s horoscope. They’ve been married almost three years, right? As Bing Go starts figuring, Mom says that the doctors said that it was possible at the hospital, but it's strangely not happening. They’ve even tried all the herbal medicines. Bing Go sighs as she looks at Sung Jae’s horoscope. Oh dear, this is... too cold. Mom suggests turning off the air conditioner. Bing Go snaps that it’s not her, it’s Eun Hee’s husband. He's an island that sits alone further than 2.5 km away from the land. His home is atop a high mountain, so no one would ever see him. On a gloomy day it rains and all the flower petals fall. Ah, it's a mystery.

Mom asks what she means. Bing Go says that no matter how much she looks at it, he should be alone forever. How's he married? He's tender, but has no luck with parents, wife, or children. His life is so lonely and tiring. Eun Hee looks like this is not news to her. Where and how did she meet such an acquisition? Mom asks if Bing Go is saying that Eun Hee won’t get pregnant. Bing Go sighs and bites her lip. Then she yells at Eun Hee for being so skinny? Eat plenty of rice! Stay alert and endure by eating rice. Mom asks why Bing Go is bringing up rice suddenly? Bing Go sighs and says that she’s hungry. They should eat. How about fish stew? Mom smiles awkwardly at Eun Hee.

Sung Jae is driving in the patrol car. They stop to deal with a public grievance: a barking Doberman. As Sung Jae walks back to the car, Hwang asks if he got bitten. Sung Jae answers that he’s fine. Hwang says that if Sung Jae got hurt, Chef Kang will kill him. He just loves his brother-in-law. Hwang says that he’s out of breath because of those dogs. Which have not stopped barking the entire time they’ve been there. They get in their patrol car, but Sung Jae pauses just a moment to look in the dog’s direction.

Next scene, we see the outside of the place they just were and a whimpering dog being struck again and again, like it’s being beaten to death. That scene totally disturbs me and both times I’ve watched it, my dog’s head has shot up at the whimpering. Poor dog.

Soon Ae’s put on some makeup. She tries to open Sun Woo’s door but finds it locked. She decides to try and pick the lock with a safety pin, but it doesn’t work. And Sun Woo walks up behind her. He drags her downstairs. She tells him that he’s really being too much! She heard guys can do it even if they don't like the girl. Why is he playing hard-to-get? She told him. She has an issue and that's why she’s asking him. He folds his arms and asks what exactly is this issue? She winces and says that it's not the time to tell him, but she will, for sure. She holds out her hand for a pinky promise.

He laughs and tells her that she’s just not able to make up a story on the spot, right? She starts to whine that it isn’t it but Sun Woo gives her a warning. If she keeps this up, she won't be able to work here. He doesn't like scandals where he works. He tries to go upstairs, but she grabs his arm. Is this because of PD Lee? It is, isn't it? Soon Ae says that she’ll keep it a secret. She even got a cold because of him and tells him to feel her forehead.

He tells her to forget it. Just try coming into his room once more. Try it and he’ll kick her out. He goes upstairs with her yelling after him. It’s no use. She whines that she really is sick. She’s so hot. So hot. How could he be so cold? She opens up the freezer.

Upstairs, Sun Woo checks him phone. There’s a text from So Hyung to call him. He tries unplugging his phone – even though you can call someone when a phone is plugged in. I’ve done it tons of times. The plug won’t come out. Downstairs, Soon Ae is moaning because she’s sick. How long has it been since she’s felt a fever? She lies down on the bench and we see Soon Ae, not Bong Sun. Soon Ae starts to cough.

Upstairs, Sun Woo is fighting with the plug and finally gets it loose. At the moment, the coughing knocks Bong Sun off the bench. Soon Ae stands up and looks down at the unconscious Bong Sun. She’s out. Sun Woo wonders what the heck happened with his phone. He starts to call So Hyung but then is bothered by the thought of Bong Sun being sick.

Soon Ae realizes that she’s out. Bong Sun lies on the floor coughing and unconscious. Sun Woo comes downstairs. Soon Ae sighs about his timing. Bong Sun moans a bit. Sun Woo sees her and yells at her, but she’s unresponsive. Soon Ae just watches.

Thoughts

So what do I think after watching this episode (and episode three) twice?

I’m excited that Bong Sun, the real Bong Sun, will be back next week. (Doubly excited to see how Park Bo Young’s body language changes to fit Bong Sun.) I’ve missed the girl and have been wanting her to come back so that Sun Woo will fall in love with the real Bong Sun, rather than Soon Ae in Bong Sun’s body.

And Soon Ae’s going to need Bong Sun’s buy in, to use her body like that, especially like *that.* I don’t necessarily think that Soon Ae is a horrible person because she was trying to use Bong Sun’s body like that. I mean, she was stuck in it and time is running out for her to remain a good spirit, so her desperation and disregard for what it might do to Bong Sun’s virginity is understandable. But I do think that she genuinely likes Bong Sun, or at least feels sorry for the girl. Soon Ae isn’t this amoral person; especially because the girl in the flashbacks is very warm, caring, dutiful, well-liked, and a good noona and daughter.

We already knew that Sun Woo was going to be the Yang that Soon Ae was looking for. But more and more, I don’t think it’s her virginity that’s keeping her there. She was so cute as she followed Sun Woo around and pestered him to sleep with her. He must really like Bong Sun to put up with behavior like that. And Joon is sweet to offer to loan her money so she doesn’t have to get ‘it’ from Chef. I really wonder if he likes her. And if Sun Woo likes her, too. It would explain why her meekness bugged him so much – not just that it reminded him of himself, but that he knew how miserable she was and hated that she felt like that. Plus, she didn’t seem to want to do anything to change it and that can bug a person up the wall, especially when it’s something you struggle with, too.

Did anyone else get the feeling that that Granny ghost that threatened Soon Ae was Bong Sun’s halmeoni? That her grandmother, being a shaman, can project herself like that, which is why the ghost showed up directly after Halmeoni talked to Soon Ae and Halmeoni could tell something was off? Plus, it seemed intent on scaring Soon Ae off, rather than trying to hurt her, which is something that Halmeoni would do to someone possessing her granddaughter.

I was all on the Sung Jae is a good guy train until this episode (and I was really happy about it). I mean, he keeps little boys from seeing dead bodies and goes and eats at the restaurant even when his partner objects because he knows Dad is struggling. But then episode four happened. First he made this face (you just catch a glimpse of it, it’s so quick) when Sun-woo showed up at his mom’s. His eyebrows twitched when she suggested Eun Hee go to Bing Go’s with her. I wondered what that was. Then pensively pausing to look at the nuisance (barking dog) and later someone beating it to death. Little things are starting to add up… When I rewatched both episodes, even his behavior in episode three was a bit fishy.

But what is the deal with Sung Jae? More and more, I’m suspecting that he’s not just this good guy but an evil one pretending to be good. But as I think about things, it fits. Sung Jae was responsible for Eun Hee’s accident, Soon Ae found out about it so he killed her, then he wooed and married Eun Hee so she’d never finger him, because she wouldn’t think that her husband would do that, and now he stops by Dad’s shop to keep tabs on the case.

And I think the shock of Song Ae’s crush murdering her after he’s supposed to be a nice policeman could definitely be why she hung around… to expose him.

I read some other people’s recaps and some of the comments were floating the idea that Sung Jae is possessed by an evil spirit, which is why he’s acting the way he is. If that’s it, then it’s a really clever malevolent spirit, because no one suspects that he’s other than a really great guy, but I really like the idea of it being that rather than him being a psychopath. And there are little hints that are suggesting this, too.

That pensive look he gave Soon Ae when he first saw her in the distance. Was he noting that Bong Sun was possessed? And then he just happens to run into Soon Ae so often after that? And why is he lying about the ramen, because I don’t think Eun Hee has a problem with it at all?

Dog barks at Soon Ae whenever he sees her and doesn’t bark at anyone else; like he’s barking at her because Bong Sun’s possessed. Then Sung Jae stopped for a moment to look at the dog barking non-stop at him and the next thing we hear is someone beating it to death. (That scene still bothers me.) Like he didn’t want the dog’s barking to give him away as being possessed.

So who would be possessing Sung Jae? What’s its plan? Someone floated the idea that So Hyung might have a role to play in all of this… that maybe the ghost is Chang Kyu, and that got me thinking. I could see that. Chang Kyu hung around because of So Hyung and unfortunately stayed past the 3 year mark, which made him turn evil. Previously, when they were visiting Chang Kyu’s ashes and So Hyung said that Chang Kyu asked about him, Sun Woo said that if the tables had been reversed, he would have hated Chang Kyu forever, leaving me with the impression that somehow Sun Woo has survivor’s guilt. Okay, so if Sun Woo is somehow (in)directly responsible for Chang Kyu’s death, I can see a vengeful, evil ghost deciding to get revenge by hurting the one person that would hurt Sun Woo the most (his sister) in the worst possible way (making a ballet dancer not walk and be barren).

And what’s the meaning of his fortune? An island. Alone on a mountain. Rain and falling flower petals. Tender but no luck. I would really be interested to see what the date was, because I wonder if it’s really Sung Jae’s birthday, or the ghost’s birthday, which is why Bing Go gave the reading that she did. And why did she tell Eun Hee to eat lots of rice, like doing that was going to help her survive this?

If Sung Jae is possessed, I have to give props to the writers for laying the seeds along the way so that they can sprout later.
