You're All Surrounded Episode 19 Recap

The last week of ‘You’re All Surrounded’…

Night. Episode starts with ambulance arriving at hospital. A car arrives right behind it, with Soo Sun driving. Dae Goo rode in the ambulance with Chief. Miraculously, Chief still has a heartbeat. Soo Sun and Dae Goo run with the stretcher as far as they can go. Dae Goo looks terrible.

Replay of the dump truck slamming into Chief’s car. Chief saying she’s sorry and calling Dae Goo 'Ji Yong.' Dae Goo crying and begging her not to die. Chief saying that the recorder is in her r-r-o-o-om as blood gurlgles out of her mouth. Dae Goo covers his face with his hands as he remembers what’s just happened.

The rest of the team, plus Sa Kyung, Toad and other detectives, arrive. They’re all concerned about Chief’s status. A detective reports to Toad that Traffic Operations said that the driver of the dump truck fell asleep at the wheel. Doctor comes out and says that they stopped Chief’s internal bleeding and they’ve transferred Chief to the ICU. Doctor reports that things don’t look good. Everyone reels. Pan Suk and Sa Kyung try hard not to cry. Dae Goo clenches his fists tightly.

Dae Goo leaves the hospital with Pan Suk behind him. Dae Goo stops and without looking at Pan Suk declares that Chief was Detective Seo. She admitted that and that she took the recorder that Boots left behind. Dae Goo looks at Pan Suk and says that Chief confessed everything and went to see Moon Bae, where the pair argued and right afterward Chief got into an ‘accident.’ Dae Goo declares that it's definitely not an accident that was caused by someone sleeping at the wheel. It was a murder attempt that was hidden as an "accident." After gaining speed at the intersection, the driver hit Chief's car precisely!

Dae Goo says that Soo Sun saw the same thing and came to the same conclusions. Pan Suk mutters about how Moon Bae and his men are sons of bitches. Dae Goo says that the only thing he thought about while Chief was in surgery was what he can do to reveal that it wasn't merely a car accident. Does he have to reveal the relationship between Chief and Moon Bae? Reveal that Chief is Detective Seo? No matter what way he looked at it, they’ll have to reveal it in order to catch the culprits. Dae Goo declares that that bastard who wanted to kill Chief, they have to catch him at all costs. Pan Suk agrees. Dae Goo says that for now, he will find the recorder. Which shouldn’t be too hard, since she told him where she hid it. Although, wouldn’t Moon Bae think to look for the recorder in her room?

[Episode 19: On Top of a Duplicitous Man is a Desperate Man]

Dae Goo and Soo Sun arrive at Chief’s house. Dae Goo signals for Soo Sun to hold on, since the lights are on inside. They slowly, quietly creep forward, with Dae Goo grabbing a bat. They rush inside. It’s a mess. Dae Goo declares that this just proved that it wasn't merely a car accident. They start looking for the recorder. Dae Goo stops, frustrated, but Soo Sun tells him not to give up. Someone broke into Chief’s house, but they might have not found the recorder. She suggests going through things one by one to look for it. Dae Goo agrees. He looks kind of scary right now. Dae Goo declares that Chief wouldn't have left something so important in a place that's easy to find. He heads into her office. Soo Sun follows.

Soo Sun finds the box of letters that Dae Goo sent her. Dae Goo looks at them and sighs, telling Soo Sun that the guardian that enabled him to graduate from a good university was Chief. That revelation sinks in as Dae Goo picks up all the letters. Wow, there’s a lot of them. Soo Sun finds a picture of Dae Goo and Chief together. They look really happy. She suggests that they stick the picture by the head of Chief's bed, she'd probably like it very much. She tells him that even though comatose people seem like they're just laying there, they can still hear everything, so he should to say everything he needs to say.

Back at the Police Station. Pan Suk goes to see Toad, saying that he has something to tell Toad. Instead of just listening, Toad rants that the Gangnam station is jinxed, with a huge one, at that! How else would these things continue to happen like this? He even fell down the stairs and hurt his foot! Toad gets a hold of himself and sits, asking what Pan Suk has to say. Pan Suk sighs and says that it’s news regarding Chief. Pan Suk declares that this is about murder intent. Toad jumps up, eyes wide, and asks what Pan Suk is talking about.

Now they’re sitting at the table by Toad’s desk. Toad is stunned. Moon Bae is the culprit behind all of this? Pan Suk asks Toad to keep it quiet until Chief wakes up and tells him herself. Pan Suk says that the reason he told Toad everything, including what happened 11 years ago, is so that he would believe everything about Moon Bae. I'm surprised by Toad's reaction. Toad admits that it’s all making sense and that Chief has been acting weird for the past week, like she was getting her affairs in order, just in case something happened to her. Toad says that Team 3 will be in charge… no, Toad’s going to personally assist in covering this case! Pan Suk tries to argue that there's no reason for him to do so – and I agree, since it’s going to disrupt the team’s dynamic – but Toad declares that he is Cha Tae Ho, who graduated second in his class at the academy! They must protect Chief. If Chief was attacked like Pan Suk says, they can't sit by idly or forgive for this! Pan Suk can only say thank you.

Eung Do and Toad are out at the accident site. Eung Do’s gotten all the CCTV footage. Later, Toad indignantly declares that there weren't any skid marks at the scene of the accident! Duh, you could see that from the street. He’s interrogating the driver. Toad rephrases: Driver never pressed on the brakes until after the collision, like he was aiming for Chief. Driver is sitting with his eyes closed, with his head resting on his hand, like he’s bored. Driver declares that he fell asleep. He didn't press on the brakes until after he woke up from the shock of the collision. He’s sure there are skids marks from the point after the collision.

Tae Il has gotten the camera from Boots’s car. The tech says that it’s too badly damaged to get footage from it.

Dae Goo, Soo Sun and Gook are looking at the wreck that is Chief’s car. Gook can’t believe it.

Tae Il and Pan Suk are in Chief’s office, looking for the recorder. While searching Chief’s desk, Pan Suk finds a letter addressed to him:

Dear Team Leader Seo,
In a couple of days, a special committee for the reformation on the judicial system will open. And when that happens, I plan on confessing everything and taking responsibility for what happened. When I think of the shock Ji Yong will receive when he finds out about everything, I'm already afraid. Team Leader Seo, can I entrust Ji Yong to you if I go to jail? When I think of the unbearable pain that child will go through once again because of me, it's hard for me to bear. And, I sincerely apologize.

Pan Suk gets a little misty as he reads the letter.

Dae Goo is sitting at Chief’s bedside. He mentions the time he had an appendectomy. Even though he told her not to come, she sat and held his hand all night. He admits that he was really happy, because she was like his real mom. He said that’s how he gained the confidence to give her a carnation and take a picture with her on Parents' Day.

Flashback. Chief is completely surprised and overwhelmed that he gave the carnation to her. The love is evident on her face. They take the photo. And I’m a little misty and so is Dae Goo. He tells her that even now, the picture doesn’t seem real to him. So, she can't die like this. There’s still much she needs to tell him. He still doesn’t know why she did it, so she needs to wake up. Dae Goo leaves her bedside and an comatose Chief cries.

Toad enters the team room and asks them if they know what a detective needs most. The kids look at each other. Toad declares that they need an eagle's eye that won't miss a single detail! A lion's heart that won't waver no matter what happens! A cicada's patience that can endure living in the ground for a full seven years! Soo Sun was really moved, holding her hand over her heart, until he talked about cicadas. Toad declares that they need a cicada's patience to look through all the CCTV footage… to locate the case's core, despite what's plain in sight.

Eung Do says that the truck driver kept testifying that he was sleeping at the wheel, but they knew he was lying because of where the skid marks appeared. They found key evidence on the CCTV footage. And Toad just had to give himself props. Why am I not surprised? Eung Do plugs in the flash drive and the team watches the footage. Toad declares that prior the accident, the truck driver pulled over to the side for over 3 hours before he started driving again. It hadn't been 5 minutes since he started driving when he "fell deeply asleep" and collided into the chief's car! Toad declares that this is what you call a flat-out lie! Soo Sun declares that Toad is the best! Toad adjusts his ties and cocks his head as she gives him his compliment.

Pan Suk gives Toad his props (when did he have time?). Gook declares that Toad should have just made them look through the footage. Tae Il tells Toad that he’s worked really hard. Pan Suk gets a phone call. It does not look like good news… Pan Suk is stunned. He can’t say it… Chief has died.

Funeral. Dae Goo carries Chief’s picture. The entire police force comes out. They bury Chief’s ashes. It’s raining, hard. None of the team (plus Sa Kyung) is using an umbrella to avoid the rain. Chief’s grave marker says:

Kang Suk Soon
A police's soul that never sleeps,
here it will rise once again.
October 25, 1964 - July 12, 2014

Everyone salutes her. A car pulls up in the distance and Moon Bae arrives. Dae Goo almost goes and decks Moon Bae – his face is livid – but Soo Sun holds him back. It’s not the right time. He needs to hold it in. They ferociously hold hands. Moon Bae has the gall to put a flower on her casket and ‘pray’ over her casket at her funeral. Dae Goo shoots daggers at him. Moon Bae shakes Toad and Pan Suk’s hands. He looks at Dae Goo and can’t help but crack a smile, which Pan Suk sees. Luckily Dae Goo holds it in. The whole team looks like they want to punch Moon Bae out.

The rain stops. Pan Suk is still at the cemetery. Sa Kyung approaches. Pan Suk remembers a case from his rookie years. The victim's family visited and tortured him at the police station for over two months. It was really exhausting and he felt like dying. Back then, his team leader was Chief. He asked Chief how long they had to continue on with the investigation. Hadn't they done enough? She told him that they have to continue on until the victim's family feels satisfied. Pan Suk said that hearing that fired him up. He thought that he wanted to become someone like Chief. Sa Kyung sighs and with a smile says that it’s true, Seo Pan Suk was originally Kang Suk Soon's kid. She had forgotten.

Pan Suk tells Sa Kyung that Chief told him that she's sorry. He says that he should've been the one who said it. Why? That he’s very sorry for not trusting her to the end. That he’s sorry for letting her fall in a trap. Seeing Ji Yong trusting Chief until the last moment, it made him realize how tainted and murky he’s become. Man, I don’t like seeing Pan Suk like this. He can't trust anybody anymore, and it's been long since all of his passion's gone. Sa Kyung smiles and says that she doubts that Seo Pan Suk is like that. Good woman. Chief loved the police more than anyone. She was the real police woman. She adds that Chief must be at a nice place now. I’m not so sure about that, given how she compromised her principles so many times and abetted in so many wrong doings… But it’s a nice thought to think that her mistakes didn’t ruin her afterlife.

Gook has put out a huge spread of food on the table in the apartment. Tae Il gives him a hard time for the huge amount of rice Gook’s put out. Gook declares that Koreans live on the power of rice! They have to eat rice to get strength to beat down the bad guys. Gook tells Dae Goo-Dae Goo to sit! Tae Il is amazed that Gook cooked the food himself. Gook says that his mom sent it. He does a goofy little dance. Gook said that he simmered it for 48 hours. The boys sample and Dae Goo says that it’s Jin Gook (rich in flavor). Gook is thrilled because Dae Goo said that it’s not just edible but rich in flavor. He sits down and begins to eat. Dae Goo gets a text from his pah-te-nuh. She asks to see him briefly before he goes to work. She’s at the playground in front of his apartment. Gook is nosy about the text, but Dae Goo says that it’s just spam.

After they finish eating, Dae Goo goes out to meet Soo Sun. She’s sitting on one of the swings. She motions at him to sit in the other. He glances at it and then looks at her like she’s crazy. She motions again, a sweet smile on her face. He sits with a sigh and asks her, “What?” She asks him whether he ate. She declares that she knows that he feels weak and has no appetite, but he still has to eat to have strength at a time like this. She presents what she brought: rice balls, with a heart on them made out of seaweed. She also brought coffee. Dae Goo looks at her as she tells him that some have anchovies and some have sauteed kimchi.

Dae Goo takes one of the rice balls and bites into it. She asks him if it’s okay. Dae Goo shakes his head and says, “No.” He takes another bite of the rice ball. Soo Sun’s shocked that it’s not good. Dae Goo nods and with a smile declares that it’s delicious. This puts a big smile on her face, which she tries to make go away by sucking in her cheeks like a fish. But the smile sticks around.

Dae Goo tells Soybean Powder, “Don't you betray me.” If she’s planning on it, he’d rather she declare it in advance… if she’s going to start liking some other guy. She agrees to his terms. He tells her there's something worse, something she should never do. She tells him to tell her; she’ll never do it. Deadly serious, with a little bit of mistiness in his eyes, Dae Goo tells her never to die in front of him. Completely legitimate request, since Oma and Chief basically did just that. He starts to eat the rice ball again to keep from starting to cry.

Soo Sun clucks at him to stop eating like that. He’s going to get an upset stomach if he keeps eating like that. She promises that she won't die in front of him. The rice ball doesn’t work. The tears start coming. Dae Goo tries to blink them away, but that doesn’t work either. Soo Sun says that she'll make sure to declare it before she betrays him. He looks over at her. She tells him that he has to tell her if he’s sick, if he’s having a tough time, if he wants to cry, if he’s mad, if he wants to scream like crazy. He will not stuff himself with rice balls like that when he actually wants to cry. Dae Goo looks at the rice cakes. He sniffs and nods that he understands. Soo Sun gets up to go stand by him. He brings her hand to his cheek and he cradles himself into her. She stands there and holds him.

Flash drive into the computer. Eung Do declares that the heavens are going to help them. He didn't think it could be restored and it was! It's something Boots left for them, something should come of it, right? Pan Suk nods and declares that he really hopes so. Tae Il says that he’s starting with the day before Dae Goo was attacked, at the dawn of June 10th. Footage of Boots meeting with a man carrying a briefcase. Dae Goo recognizes him as Kim Hwa Shin, Moon Bae's consulting lawyer (aka Slimy). Slimy opens the briefcase, which holds lots of money. Slimy gives it to Boots. Boots gives Slimy an envelope.

Dae Goo declares that that money is the price for his life. It's evident, then, that Moon Bae ordered his murder. The team agrees. Although they could argue that the money was for anything. This is not a smoking gun. Toad bursts in and declares that the truck driver finally confessed! Of course, once again Toad used Driver’s weak points against him. Without his (Toad’s) amazing interrogation skills, it would have been impossible. Pan Suk sighs, trying to be patient. Eung Do asks who the guilty party is. Toad declares that it was Slimy. Pan Suk orders them to bring in Slimy right away.

Interrogation. Slimy sits with a smirk on his face. Eung Do and Tae Il are doing his interrogation. They’ll ask again. The person who told Slimy to murder Chief is who? Slimy leans forward and tells Eung Do to speak properly. He says that the information he delivered was not an order to murder but instead it was to inform Driver to proceed with the plan. So who told Slimy to do that? Slimy says Ae Yun did. Wow, still throwing her under the bus. Eung Do doesn’t see how that makes sense, since around the time of the murder, Ae Yun was in custody. Unless Ae Yun has powers of divination there’s no way she would know that Chief was going to visit Moon Bae, let alone give that order. Slimy says he doesn't know how she did it. He just received those orders and only delivered them. Eung Do moves to the early morning of June 10th, who told Slimy to give money to Boots. Slimy says that it was Ae Yun again. Of course he didn’t know what the money was for… He gave the bag to Boots and received the envelope. He was just the delivery boy.

Pan Suk isn’t surprised that Moon Bae’s pushing all the charges towards Ae Yun. I am a little, but it shouldn't surprise me, really. Eung Do says he’s getting a funny feeling. Gook bursts in and declares that Ae Yun isn't at the detention center right now. She got out on bail for medical reasons. Tae Il can’t believe that one. Gook replies that it’s for depression and schizophrenia, some sort of mental illness. Pan Suk starts to laugh in disbelief at what a crafty son of a bitch Moon Bae is. Soo Sun is appalled. Do these people think the law is some joke?! Dae Goo is frustrated. Gook wants to know what sort of doctor wrote a diagnosis of mental illness for a perfectly normal person?

Suddenly, there’s a voice out in the squad room yelling for Dae Goo. He has to see Detective Eun Dae Goo! The team goes outside. It’s Ki Jae, yelling at Sa Kyung that he has to see Dae Goo. Ki Jae sees Dae Goo and walks up to him, telling Chung Chun Man that Ae Yun didn't do it. Dae Goo wants to know if Ki Jae came all this way just to say that. Ki Jae pulls out the DNA test. Ki Jae yells at Dae Goo that they are complete strangers. Strangers! No! Man! Then who is his dad? Please don’t let it be Moon Bae. I will be sick. Dae Goo reads the report. The test shows they are not related. The Paternity test shows that they are 11.21653% related. So what does that mean? That’s still somewhat related.

Pan Suk takes the test. The rest of the team looks. They saw, right? Chung Chun Man and Ki Jae are of not related! So why would his mom kill Dae Goo’s mom? Ki Jae declares that Ae Yun makes sure to get an agreement even before she beats people up, so does it make sense that she didn't even check and before she killed someone? Ki Jae declares that something is very wrong. Dae Goo and Pan Suk don’t know what to think. Especially since Ae Yun CONFESSED.

Ki Jae asks Chung Chun Man where Ae Yun is. Chung Chun Man didn't take Ae Yun because of what happened last time, did he? Without even telling Ki Jae? Dae Goo snaps that he doesn’t know. Why did Ki Jae come there to look for Ae Yun? Ki Jae’s practically crying as he says that it’s a police station. That's why he came there to look for her! Isn't that what a police station does? Find people when you've lost them? Ki Jae declares that Ae Yun has disappeared. Her phone is off and both her secretary and Lawyer Kim can't be contacted. Ji Il and Moon Bae are ignoring him when he asks. Ki Jae starts smacking his head as he declares that he’s going crazy right now! Who would have thought that he would get this upset over something happening to his mom? Sa Kyung comes up and tells Ki Jae that they’ll go file a missing persons report first. Ki Jae begs Chung Chun Man to please find his mom! They escort Ki Jae away so he can file his report.

Team Conference. Sa Kyung remarks that this doesn't make sense. If Eun Dae Goo isn't Ji Il's son, why did Ae Yun do that? Dae Goo doesn’t get it, either. In the interrogation room, Ae Yun was confident that he was Ji Il’s child. He declares that they need to find Ae Yun and ask her. Pan Suk declares that Ae Yun’s probably in a special ward in one of the university hospitals. He tells Eung Do to look into it. Sa Kyung says that she will start tracing Ae Yun’s steps from when she left the detention center. She asks Tae Il to help her. Tae Il glances over at Pan Suk, which Sa Kyung notices, but Pan Suk is cool with it. Soo Sun declares that at least for today she'll look for the recorder one more time. Gook says that he’ll join Soo Sun. So what’s Dae Goo going to do?

Dae Goo meets Ji Il at a café. He slides the DNA test over to Ji Il, who looks at it. He’s shocked by the results, too. Dae Goo says that Ki Jae brought him the results. Dae Goo asks Ji Il where Ae Yun is. How did Ae Yun come to have this misunderstanding, and if it's not a misunderstanding why did she try to kill Oma? He has to know the reason. Ji Il looks out the window as Dae Goo speaks. He looks at Dae Goo and says that he needs some time to figure out what's occurred and what's happening now.

Ji Il heads to talk to Moon Bae, who is smug as usual. He asks Ji Il what his problem is, now all of a sudden? Ji Il consented when he stamped the papers. Ji Il replies that he did as Moon Bae instructed since the stockholder's meeting was approaching. Ji Il says that he still needs to see Ae Yun. Moon Bae laughs at that one. Ji Il needs to see Ae Yun... While living together all those years, he never paid any attention to her. Why now, all of a sudden? Ji Il declares that the situation with Ae Yun was started by him. He’s supposed to pretend not to know anything until the end? Moon Bae smiles again and declares that Ji Il is always like that. He always manage to escape, without any sin or responsibility.

Moon Bae declares that when Ji Il was coming into his household, Ji Il acted like a cow that was being dragged into a slaughterhouse. He acted like he was miserable and backed away and made a show. In the end, he allowed himself to be dragged in by Ae Yun's hands. It was Ji Il’s choice to throw away Oma and come into Moon Bae’s household. And Ji Il nibbled on their fortune and gathered all the stocks. He always acted like the victim even after satisfying his greed. He made Ae Yun quake in fear and now he wants to act like a good husband? And this whole speech has just made me hate Moon Bae that much more. Nice revisionism. He’s the one who’s throwing his own daughter under the bus…

Moon Bae declares that he will decide if that girl stays in the mental hospital or not. The person that always took care of that woman's kid was Moon Bae. Not Ji Il, but him. Ji Il asks Moon Bae how he’s so different from Ji Il? Ji Il declares that people like them are the same. They lean on the power of their wife or take it for themselves. But he's at least trying to not lean on his child. Fist clench from Moon Bae. Interesting that Ji Il’s keeping up the ruse that Dae Goo’s his son.

Sa Kyung and Tae Il canvassing. Convenience store owner recognizes Ae Yun as that woman who was taken away by an ambulance. Ae Yun was screaming so loudly that it woke her up. They grabbed her on both sides and she resisted the whole way. Sa Kyung and Tae Il leave the store. Sa Kyung wonders if Ae Yun was forcibly moved against her will. Tae Il says that they need approval from the family to do that.

Soo Sun is hunting through Chief’s room, looking for the recorder. She decides to look in the box again.

Card: To my sponsor, I went through a new experience because you sent me on the field trip to the English town. Thanks to you, I had a good time. I finally have an experience that I can cherish

Card: I received the books. I really like the books. In conclusion, thank you.

Card: Pictures of Dae Goo with glasses. I got accepted to study law. Tomorrow, I will leave this place. I'm sincerely thankful for all you did for me these past years.

Soo Sun smiles as she looks at dorky Dae Goo. She gets an idea. She dumps out all the cards and hears a rattle. She cuts open the bottom of the box and finds the recorder. Gook gives her high five.

Team Conference Room. They’re listening to Boots’s recording.
Boots: Tell me again. What do I have to do?
Moon Bae: Make this end again. With a different conclusion. The prosecutors must help too.
Boots: Are you telling me to forge the paternity test so that it looks like Kim Ji Yong is President Sin Ji Il 's son? Are you planning to give your daughter the forged DNA test? Dang! That is cold.
Moon Bae: Before the election, this is the only way for Ae Yun to fund and support me again. It doesn't make sense for her to be blinded by her uncaring husband and end the political funds for her father!
Boots: You have to promise to take care of me once you're elected.
Moon Bae: Don't worry about that and go. Make sure to prepare so that there are no faults.

Wow. He’s even more corrupt than I thought. Wow.

Gook unplugs the recorder like it’s on fire or something completely evil. Pan Suk and Soo Sun look at a stunned Dae Goo. He asks if it was just because of this reason, why Oma died? Pan Suk reels and leaves the room. The rest of the team leaves, too, with Soo Sun slowly going last. She shuts the door behind her. Dae Goo screams in frustration and starts pounding on the locker with grief. Dae Goo sags to the floor. Soo Sun waits outside, trying not to cry. More pounding and screaming from inside the conference room. Soo Sun can’t help but cry.

Pan Suk gets up from his desk. Frog arrives. Followed by a bunch of people carrying boxes. Frog looks really pleased to be there. Frog declares that he knew they would meet like this again. Frog orders his people to take all the files without leaving out anything! Pan Suk demands to know what Frog thinks he’s doing. Frog gloats, asking whether Pan Suk heard that the main detective was changed. So, of course, the investigative teams are changed too. Frog declares that it’s all because of Pan Suk.

Eung Do demands to know what they’re talking about. Why would the investigative teams change? Frog declares that they lost an important piece of evidence after concealing it and investigated without approval. Did they think that they will be fine after doing those things? What do they think the police is? And I’m about to vomit. He’s lecturing them on what the police is? Soo Sun can’t hold her tongue. She asks Frog what he thinks the police is? They didn't conceal an important evidence but found it after eleven years. They didn't lose it. It was stolen. It was taken away from Detective Park while he was stabbed with a knife and kicked while trying to protect it.

Eung Do tries to tell Soo Sun to leave it alone, but she doesn’t want to. Why should they? This doesn't make any sense. Who were the people who wanted to cover up the case without finding out the truth, even when they gave all the evidence to them? Why did they plan to investigate secretly from the beginning? Frog tells his man to go into their conference room. The guy starts to go in, but backs away as Dae Goo emerges. Dae Goo looks scary. Gook asks Tae Il what’s wrong with Dae Goo.

Dae Goo walks toward their desks. And I notice he’s carrying a bat. Suddenly he starts pounding the mess out of their computers and stuff. He pauses a moment to look at Frog. He says that it’s not like Frog’s going to look at these after Frog takes them. Dae Goo smashes another computer. Frog screams at Dae Goo to stop it right now! Does he want to be arrested? Dae Goo answers that by smashing up some more stuff. After Dae Goo’s broken everything, he takes another good whack, while looking right at Frog. Frog jumps. Dae Goo throws down the bat and walks away. Dae Goo goes back into the squad room and starts packing up his backpack.

Pan Suk walks over and picks up the bat. He walks over to Frog, waving it up and down by his wrist, like he’s contemplating smashing it over Frog’s head. He suggests Frog leave now. Frog tells Pan Suk to shut up! Frog’s going to leave when he feels like it, whether Pan Suk tell him to or not. Frog asks his guy if they have everything. Guy replies that they haven’t searched the room Dae Goo’s in yet. Frog tells him to leave it for now! Heh. Frog tells Pan Suk that they’ll be back, so Pan Suk needs to gather all the evidence they haven't handed over yet… if he doesn't want to send his team members away for disciplinary action. Cockily, Frog walks over to Pan Suk and adjusts Pan Suk’s collar as he tells Pan Suk that the Inspection Division will be there soon, so good luck with that. Frog and his men leave with their boxes. Pan Suk sits.

Gook and Tae Il find Dae Goo in the conference room. He’s done packing. Soo Sun comes in after them. Gook asks him if he’s going somewhere. Dae Goo tells them to move. He’s going to quit. Gook and Tae Il protest that he can’t. Dae Goo tells them to move. He’s not doing this anymore. He’s not going to be a weak police officer anymore! Tae Il begs Dae Goo to be patient with what happened today. Dae Goo yells back, asking how much more and until when?! They grab Dae Goo and tell him he can’t leave. They’re interrupted by Pan Suk who tells Dae Goo not to hold it in. Don't suppress it any longer or he’ll get sick. Dae Goo sadly sighs.

Pan Suk asks Dae Goo if he has the confidence to continue until the truth is revealed. Does he have the confidence or not? Dae Goo declares that he will reveal the truth no matter what. Pan Suk looks around at the other kids and asks. Soo Sun declares, voice full of emotion that she’s confident. Tae Il declares that they will reveal the truth for sure. Gook is confident. Pan Suk nods. He tells them that from now on, no matter what decision he makes, whatever he does, they have to just trust and follow him. He looks at Dae Goo as he asks “Okay?” And his voice is gentle. I’m getting choked up. Pan Suk says that he’s the legendary Seo Pan Suk.

The team is hard at work, calling reporters. They’re calling everyone. TV reporter does a story on the recent death of the Police Chief and the investigation following her death. Team watches press conference coverage where Frog reports that the incident is believed to be a murder case disguised as a car accident, connected to the murder case of Masan School Nurse, and it is believed that the recently arrested Anonymous Yoo was involved. Prosecutors are currently collecting all the evidence and witnesses. Eung Do sighs at how they’re putting all the blame on Yoo Ae Yun. Pan Suk remarks that it was expected that they wouldn't hesitate to do it. He tells them to get back to work.

Reporters have gathered at the station. They’re wondering what announcement the station’s going to make, if they're going to give a scoop, after being so closed up for all these years. Pan Suk puts on his dress blues. Eung Do asks him if this is the only way. Pan Suk asks how he looks as a response. Eung Do sighs and Pan Suk pats him on the shoulder.

Team 3 gathers at the back of the room as Pan Suk enters. For some reason the photographers are using flash, even though they DON’T NEED TO. Pan Suk says that today, he wanted to announce that he doesn't think he can keep to the code of ethics as a police officer. Hunh? Pan Suk takes off his cap… his handcuffs… his badge… his jacket… He declares that the reason why he’s resigning today is because he wants to make someone else resign as well. What?! It’s only one more episode! How can they do this!

Thoughts

Revelations in the Eleventh Hour: Dae Goo is not Ji Il’s son. Moon Bae fixed the paternity test so Ae Yun thought Ji Yong was. (But why did Oma name him Ji Yong if it’s not a mix of their names?) Frog came and took everything, the evidence. But did Soo Sun give him the recorder? She was holding it, after all.

I have a prediction. Besides taking Moon Bae down, I think that this whole incident will end up getting the police their investigative rights back, because Frog and his prosecutors so botched things.

I can’t believe that Pan Suk’s resigning though. Wow. So much for a fun and fluffy last episode.
