Mask Episode 7 Recap

The episode starts with a recap of what’s happened so far.

Seok Hoon saying that they’re creating their own heaven.

Ji Sook doing everything so that her family will be safe – and I think she’s begun to think of Min Woo as family, too, which means that she’ll protect him, too.

Min Woo making the comment that “Aren't we just using each other?” Her reply: “I thought we were helping each other out.”

“You are my wife. Even if you are a puppet and are a liar. Please don't make me worry.” As he saves her from being swept away by the river.

“Choi Min Woo hates skinship with a passion. Make his body yours first. Then, you can get his heart. You can get everything that Choi Min Woo has.”

[Episode 7 – The One Chest That I Can Lean on to Cry]

Already, that makes me feel the feels.

Action starts back up with everyone at home, Ji Sook in bed. Min Woo at her bedside. As she looks at him, he’s wearing a small smile. Oh, the boy is starting to have it bad. With that smile on, he tells her that he hopes that she doesn’t misunderstand what happened yesterday. He had no choice but to remove all their clothing due to hypothermia. She nods and says that she knows. He adds that he thought about leaving her underclothes on. And I am blushing for her. Oi. But seeing as it was to save someone's life... Ji Sook says that she gets it. She won't misunderstand.

And then he is an idiot. He really thought of her as a rock during that time… Should he say that she was a rock that was cold and needed to be warmed up? He does a little hand flourish with this sentence, as if to try and lessen the embarrassment of it all. Ji Sook just sits there, no looking at him. He says that what he’s saying in conclusion is that she’s not a rock but... What he really means to say is... He’s… her lifesaver! That last part rushes out of his mouth, along with his question on how she’s planning on repaying him.

Ji Sook looks at him and asks what she can do to repay him. He motions with his head for someone to come forward. Yun Soo brings a lap tray with a plate of food on it. She says that with the ingredients harvested from Russia – wow, all the way from Russia! – they froze them right away, brought them over, and cooked her some porridge. Ji Sook smiles at the thought of eating this special porridge. Min Woo tells her that (she can repay him) by hurrying up and getting better. Aw. Old softie. Only then will she be able to repay him and all that. And all that.

Ji Sook thanks him and says that she’ll eat it well. Yun Soo leaves. Ever so casually, Min Woo says that if she really has no energy or if she has a hard time eating it because the porridge is too hot, he’s willing to help her a little. Is he offering to feed her? I am laughing. So smooth. Ji Sook says his name and tells him to please stop being so nice to her. His smile shrinks ever so slightly. They’re just using each other like he said.

Min Woo smiles like that totally just didn’t bother him or make him feel rejected. He chuckles and says that she’s misunderstanding something. He just wants her to recover quickly and not bother him. His smile is gone as he says that he doesn’t want anything more than that! He walks off.

Creeper Seok Hoon is watching via his laptop. Which is why I think she just did that. He thinks about finding them together naked. How did he explain finding them? Seok Hoon waits until Min Woo walks by and heads to where Ji Sook is (eating). She stops as he enters. He’s brought her some ginseng tea. He asks if she’s feeling a bit better? She says that she isn’t, so please leave. He says that her attitude is odd, since she managed to quickly succeed in having some skinship with Min Woo. Why doesn’t she feel good about that, at all? She protests that she didn't do it because her ordered her to! It was completely innocent! Seok Hoon repeats that: “Innocent?” It might be better for her to think of it like that, because she needs to act like everything is pure before she can get Choi Min Woo's heart.

He tells her that they’ll move onto the next stage. Ji Sook protests that it's not like that! Seok Hoon throws the box that he was carrying on the bed. If she is really in an innocent relationship, then she should take off her mask for starters. He bends forward to lean on the bed, his face very close to her. She shouldn’t get the wrong idea. *He* was the one who saved her last night. Now why is it so important to him that she think this? Because from where I’m sitting Min Woo’s the one who kept her warm. When she fell from the cliff, he was the one who saved her as well. If he wasn't there, she wouldn't be here right now. Without his help, she can't do anything. Ah, so it’s to keep her dependent on him. Could he possibly have a little Eun Ha transference going on, where he has to have a relationship with her, because she reminds him of Eun Ha?

Ji Sook thinks for a moment and then says that she regrets that he feels that way. She thinks she can do anything as long as He’s not there. Burn! He backs up off the bed. And he looks just a little less sure of himself. Ji Sook tells him that he’s never helped her. He just threatens her. Seok Hoon casually sits down on the bed and tells her that she should try changing her mind. Her thinking may be wrong. And I would want to scoot over out of arm’s reach of the man. He’s often calm like this before he going a little psycho.

Seok Hoon opens the box. It’s full of bundles of 50,000 KRW. He says that he wanted to talk to her about her debt, anyways. She should repay her dad's 5,000,000 KRW debt with the money. He tells her to try and personally pay it off herself.

Mi Yeon enters without knocking. Seok Hoon smoothly puts the lid on the box and stands, a smile on his face for her. Mi Yeon is, of course, suspicious and asks why he’s there. And why did she decide to drop by Eun Ha’s room, if she didn’t know Seok Hoon was there? And does she always enter without knocking? Seok Hoon answers that he brought Eun Ha some ginseng to help revitalize her body. Did Mi Yeon come there because she was worried, too? She was worried a lot yesterday. Mi Yeon says that she was worried... That you two were in here making out. Worried that sister-in-law got into a big accident or something.

She notices the box on the bed and walks toward them. Seok Hoon plays it cool. Mi Yeon tells Eun Ha to be careful...accidents can happen anytime when she’s not paying attention. She walks out and Seok Hoon follows after her.

Switch to Scumbag – the one who threw the roll of money at Ji Sook and tried to talk herself in to whoring herself. *That* scumbag. He’s upset because his bank is refusing to lend him any more money. So it’s all a front, built on borrowed money. He’s done so many deals at this place! Bank manager tells him that he’s already gone over his limit so he can't borrow any money right now. He acts like the word ‘Limit’ doesn’t apply to him. He protest that they’re making a mistake right now.

And coincidentally... Ji Sook has arrived at the same bank with the 500,000,000 KRW that Seok Hoon had given her. She asks the teller to please send it to this account. Teller is surprised by the large amount. When she repeats the amount, this gets Scumbag’s attention. Teller asks what name should get put with the amount and Ji Sook says that she wants it to be anonymous, so that they don't know who sent it. Teller reports that the account has been deactivated. Ji Sook gives her a different account number, but it’s also been deactivated.

Scumbag recognizes her. He decides to follow her down to the parking garage. And totally act like a creeper. He says her name and she briefly reacts. She starts to drive away and he says it again, but this time she ignores it. He sees her license plate number and writes it down.

Seok Hoon and Mi Yeon are driving. She wants them to get full physicals. There must be something wrong. He replies that they said there is no physical problem. It’s psychological. She wants a baby?! Is that supposed to make him love her? Your relationship is so twisted! And you want to bring a baby into it. At least Seok Hoon isn’t on board. He tells her that they should wait until the baby comes naturally as a result of their love. Okay, I had to laugh at that cheese. Want some wine with that? Mi Yeon chuckles and asks if that’s possible. Does he even want to have a child? Did he ever want it even once?

Seok Hoon slams on his break. The car behind him narrowly misses rear ending him. It would have caused about a 6-car pileup. Lots of horn honking, but Seok Hoon doesn’t move the car. He tells Mi Yeon that he is sorry that he said he was busy with the company and not doting on her. And that it caused her to doubt his relationship with Eun Ha, as well. She’s not buying it and asks if he’s sorry. He repeats that he’s sorry and then almost yells it. What more does she want him to do?

As cars drive around them – and I so want them to get rear-ended by someone not paying attention. It won’t happen, but I’d love it if it did. She asks why he married her. He asks her why she married him. He rephrases that: why did she stop him when he asked for a divorce? He married her because he loved her. He thought he said it clearly. He tells her to believe him even if she can't. If she’s not planning to divorce him, then she need to believe him blindly. He asks what she’s planning to do. Does she want to end this now? She looks away and breathes in a ragged breath.

Ji Sook has stopped by a lawyer’s office. She wants him to deliver the money, saying it’s an inheritance from a distant relative. Lawyer asks if she’s just asks for her money to be laundered. No! How is her request asking for money laundering?! She says that she isn’t. He quickly asks what kind of money it is. Where did she get it from? She tells him to forget it and leaves.

As she walks away from the attorney’s office, she sees a banner advertising “Errand Agency. We promise to keep your worries a secret.” Switch to Ji Sook in disguise while the guy she hired is meeting with Loan Shark and Goon. Loan Shark asks if Errandman is saying that he wants to pay off Byeon Dae Sung's debt? EM says he is. Loan Shark asks why and then wants to know who the client is. EM says that it’s confidential. He asks for the account number to deposit it into. Loan Shark laughs and takes off his sunglasses. Why is it confidential? And why not meet at EM’s office? Did his client possibly come to?

Loan Shark starts to look around and spots Ji Sook – who doesn’t look conspicuous at all in her big floppy hat and huge sunglasses. She gets up to leave and they chase her. She loses a shoe as she runs. Loan Shark finds the shoe and wonders if she’s Cinderella. He wants to know who she is, because her backside looked familiar.

Scumbag has called someone about the license plate number. He’s not familiar with the name: Choi Min Woo. He’s really surprised when he finds out it’s SJ Group’s Chairman's son. That can’t be right. Byeon Ji Sook used live in a poor neighborhood. He bought a car to a girl like that? Scumbag! A girl like that. I’m sorry, but she’s not a girl like that because she turned you down., dude. You’re a douche like that, who would try to buy a girl for sex, but she’s not someone who would sell herself. He chuckles and says that Choi Min Woo's taste is pretty cheap. He tells Caller that he has a meeting with Choi Min Woo tomorrow. He may be able to use this against him. Bad idea, dude. Really bad idea. And he’s relishing the thought of being able to manipulate Min Woo. Scumbag. I think I threw up in my mouth just a little.

Min Woo is tearing through a report. I mean that practically literally. If he turned those pages any more fiercely, he would rip them. He slams the folder shut, causing Worker1 to jump. I bet he’s annoyed that she told him that it was just business between them. He waves the folder at Worker1 and says that he can't understand this no matter how much he thinks it over! He just innocently saved her without expecting any favors in return. He slams the folder down on his desk, frustrated. And I am trying so hard to stifle my laughter. Poor Worker1 looks like he wants to wet himself.

Min Woo declares that she shouldn’t be doing this! Worker1 lets a groan slip. Min Woo looks at him and asks how long he’s been married. Heh. Worker1 looks at him, surprised. Heh.

Switch to them sitting in the chairs in his office. Worker1 is loosening his tie. He declares that they say marriage is a grave. But shouldn't they try to live happily ever after? Worker1 smacks the coffee table in frustration. Why think of it as living in a grave?! Min Woo pulls out a tissue – and I thought he was going to hand it to Worker1. Instead – and uses it to wipe away Worker1’s finger prints on the glass of the coffee table. Rolling! Worker1 apologizes.

Switch to Worker2 saying that for her friends, all the anger and pain disappears with a name brand bag. Because they are shallow and Ji Sook’s already shown that she doesn’t care about money. She asks him if he thinks, with his status, that he needs to buy the whole department store? Min Woo asks if she thinks the luxury goods store will do. Doh!

Worker3 asks if it’s that difficult to say ‘I love you’ three time a day? Do he not love his wife? Can't he do that to keep the peace? Min Woo claps his hands together and says that he understands. He'll do it. What?! Worker3 beams. He happily leaves.

Min Woo mutters that he just wasted his time. Then he half-giggles. Tell her ‘I love you,’ huh... He laughs at how ridiculous that idea is. He reaches into his jacket and pulls out his phone.

Ji Sook is staring at a huge spread of all different kinds of food. His voice pleading, Chang Soo asks her to eat some, otherwise they’ll be in trouble. She sighs and says that she understands. She starts to eat. Chang Soo’s phone rings. It’s Min Woo. He asks how she is. Chang Soo reports that she’s recovering. Min Woo tells him to report any changes. He starts to hang up and then adds to tell Eun Ha that he DOESN'T love her. Which totally says that you do, dude.

Chang Soo is surprised by that last one, so Min Woo repeats it. Chang Soo says that he understands. He hangs around and a little smile appears. He turns around and tells Ji Sook that, uhh, the director… he can’t hold back his smile as he says that the Director wanted him to convey that he loves her. Shocked, Ji Sook clarifies: Loves me? Chang Soo happily nods. She asks why. Chang Soo blinks and says that it’s because he loves her?... Chang Soo tells her to call him if she needs him.

His stomach growls. She tells him to join her. It’s too much for one person. Horrified, Chang Soo says that Min Woo will kill him if he founds out. Ji Sook smiles and says that he doesn't have to know. He mutters that he can eat a cup Ramen in his room... He sits on the couch beside her and says that he’ll just a bit, accentuating that by holding up his fingers to illustrate that it’s just a little.

Just a little is stuffing his face. Ji Sook tells him to slow down or he’ll get indigestion. Ji Sook thinks of feeding her brother and smiles. His mouth full, Chang Soo asks if he ate too much. She shakes her head and hands him a drumstick. Then she asks if he’ll do her a favor.

Switch to the Byeon family restaurant. It’s full of little children, who are loving their food. Chang Soo is there with Chul and Yun Soo. Dad asks how the new menu is and Chul says that it reminds him of French cuisine. Dad is encouraged. Yun Soo says that it reminds her of Italian. Chang Soo whispers to her that she’s never been out of the country and she tells him to hush. Chul brings up the idea of having the kids come on a regular basis. Where are all these kids from, anyway? Dad loves that idea.

As Chang Soo leaves the restaurant, Ji Sook calls to find out how it went. Chang Soo reports that they set up an agreement to bring the kids from the orphanage once a week. Oh, they’re orphans. Cute little orphans. He agrees to will keep it a secret from Min Woo. Yes, no one knows. Except for Minion, who has been watching. Completely inconspicuous in his fancy black car in a poor neighborhood.

Loan Shark is also watching, wondering why all of a sudden the restaurant is full of business.

That night at dinner, Ji Sook is eating well. Dad comments on it and Ji Sook says that Min Woo took care of her a lot. With a smile. Min Woo is expressionless. Stepmom says that the marriage was one that both their parents wanted but they seem to have grown closer after spending time in the same room together. Mi Yeon asks if Stepmom thinks they only got closer… after spending every night sleeping in one bed. She is so wrong! No answer.

Min Woo tells Dad that he thought that Seo Eun Ha's household would not stay put if they found that she became sick again because of him, and it would impede Dad’s business as well. He casually says that he was going to bring this up on another occasion. But how about letting Seo Eun Ha take charge of luxury goods? Ji Sook looks at him, surprised. And I can’t help but smile, since he’s following Worker2’s advice. He says that they can't let her work in the Gallery after getting married. The congressman would get upset.

Ji Sook asks if he means the ones in the SJ department store. Yes, Min Woo means where she went before, shopping with Madam. Ji Sook knows that that’s where she used to work, where her friends still work. Min Woo starts to continue on why it’s a good idea, but she interrupts him, saying that she doesn't want to. Dad looks up from his food, surprised. Min Woo asks why she doesn’t and she says, to him, that she just doesn't want to. Looking like she doesn’t want to talk about it now. Min Woo doesn’t understand why not. She won’t be working under someone, but rather running her own luxury good business.

More emphatically, she says that she said she doesn’t want to. She notices that everyone is looking at her. She apologizes and hurries from the table. Gruffly, Dad wants to know what’s wrong with her. Mi Yeon says that she must not be satisfied with just the luxury goods store. Mom hisses at her to stop. She quietly adds that she’s right.

Min Woo heads to their bedroom, where he asks what the problem is. Must she always embarrass him like that? Always? A bit extreme there. She apologizes. She says that she doesn’t know anything and to be in charge of something so important, it left her with no confidence. She sounds pretty pathetic right now. He asks what she’s going to do from now on. No answer. He says that just working at the Gallery is not good. And she doesn’t want to work with luxury goods. What will she do then? Does she have something she wants to do? She replies that she never really thought about it.

Min Woo says that in this house, if you don’t do anything and pay your dues, you will be treated very poorly. She must've experienced that already though. She sadly nods. He says that it must be suffocating to just stay home, too. She looks at his and he gives her a small smile and nod that says that he understands. He tells her to think about it carefully... what she wants to do. She tells him thank you, with a small smile. He snaps back for her to please stop thanking him! She mumbles her apology and he has to restrain himself not to yell at her to stop apologizing, too. She just nods – rather than say the wrong thing for the third time.

Mi Yeon is sitting, sipping her wine through a straw, looking at Seok Hoon smile as he gives that necklace to Eun Ha. Seok Hoon enters and she quickly puts her laptop to sleep. Seok Hoon starts blow drying his hair and she follows him, saying that it seemed like Min Woo really cares for Eun Ha. She wonders if they won’t end up having a child before them at this rate. Wow, she really likes to torture her husband.

He stops the dryer and says that they would need to congratulate them. Mi Yeon wonders about the ‘congratulate.’ He tells her that they can't curse the pair. At least not for that. She notices a present on the dresser and asks about it. Seok Hoon says that it’s a present he got for her. Unexpected. What did he do? Or is planning to do?

Ji Sook tells Min Woo that she laid out new sheets so he should please sleep comfortably. Her body is all better now so he doesn't need to worry anymore. She heads over to the couch. Min Woo kicks one of the stools by the bed absentmindedly. After a moment, he says that if she wants, she can sleep on the bed. She turns around to look at him. He says that it’s probably uncomfortable to sleep on the sofa anyways. She smiles and says that it’s fine. She’s used to it now. She can sleep anywhere. A bit stronger – with a little indignation – he says that *he’s* not okay with it. If she sleeps on the sofa, it makes him seem like a bad guy. Yeah, that’s why you’re objecting. He says that he doesn’t want to argue any longer so she should just sleep on the bed.

She walks over to him and asks if it’s not going to be uncomfortable for him. He climbs into bed – still wearing his regular clothes – and asks what he can do about that. He’ll just have to endure it. She asks what he’s doing. He looks at her. She says that he’s not saying that they sleep together, right? And like it’s completely no big deal and ridiculous to question – He asks if they can’t.

Ji Sook still is hesitating. He sighs and says that he told her this morning already… He thinks of her as a rock and brought her there. She starts to cringe with discomfort. He says that he knows what she’s worried about but that will *never* happen, so please don't worry.

Ji Sook asks if they just shouldn’t buy another bed. It's uncomfortable for the both of them to sleep in the same bed. He says that they should do that. That's a good idea… but for today, they should both sleep uncomfortably. He lies down… and notices the glass from the ginger tea.

Seok Hoon is being a creeper and watching them while they’re in bed. Ji Sook is as far as she can be on her side of the bed without falling off. She’s not really covered, so Min Woo reaches over to cover her. Luckily, he’s there to keep her from falling out of the bed. He picks her up and gently moves her farther back onto the bed. Then he hesitates. Like he doesn’t want to move. He ends up settling in on the same pillow. So sweet! It’s not hard for him to fall asleep.

Seok Hoon slams the lid of his laptop closed. Now, that’s odd. Isn’t this the plan? He sighs and reopens it. He switches to some earlier footage, of Ji Sook pouring out the tea he brought. Enraged, he hurls his laptop across the room and it shatters into pieces. He sighs and looks out into the room… where he sees Dad looking at him. He immediately stands an apologizes. Dad asks if one of Seok Hoon’s investments turned out poorly. He answers that there was a bit of a loss. Dad tells him not to worry about it. It's nothing compared to the profits he’s brought. Now, that sounds like a little recognition right there, the kind he says that he never gets from Dad. Seok Hoon bows respectfully and Dad leaves. Seok Hoon stares after him, a hard look in his eye.

Mi Yeon sits on the bed and looks at the present Seok Hoon’s gotten her. She can’t bring herself to open it. Seok Hoon returns. She asks what he was doing. He sighs and puts down his smashed laptop. He walks over to her and quietly says her name. She asks what he’s trying to tell her by staring at her with those eyes? He says that when the possibility of a divorce came up, it wasn't her that held onto him, but him holding onto her. Really? That’s not how I remember the conversation. He says that if her really wanted to divorce her, he would've made it happen. He wouldn't have acted as if he was having a tantrum.

She says his name, obviously touched. He takes her hand and says that he really wants to do well. In the company and in their married life. It's fine if she thinks he’s lying. He can't live without her now. She replies that she’ll believe him. Even if it's a lie. He gives her a smile. It almost looks genuine. He’s a really good liar. He tells her to open the gift. He knows that she’s curious. She doesn’t want to do it, so he does. It’s beautiful baby clothes. Oh, he’s good. If he put half off this effort into actually having a good marriage, he would be blissfully happy.

Tears in her eyes, Mi Yeon looks up at him. He smiles softly again and says that if they have a child, they could probably smile all day, right? That makes her really smile and she wraps her arms around his neck to hug him. She’s blissfully happy. His face is a cold as ice. So manipulative!!!

Min Woo and Ji Sook are out bed shopping. First bed he doesn’t like because of the pearly finish. Next bed, using the imported wood from Indonesia, he doesn’t like because he’s *allergic to this wood.* I am starting to roll. Next bed is too busy. Next one’s decoration is too racy! Racy? He grabs at his eyes and says that the next bed’s pattern is making him dizzy. He effectively shoots down every bed they look at.

As they leave the store, Min Woo looks at his watch. He says that he wanted to go to other places but he has a meeting. Darn. Rats. She sadly says, “Okay.” He asks what’s wrong with her expression? He is too cute. Glumly, she asks what’s wrong with her expression. He says that it’s like she’s saying that he’s doing this on purpose because he doesn't want a new bed. Guilty… conscience. She says his name and he says that they should go eat lunch first. He’s hungry after worrying. She asks my question: Didn't he say he has a meeting? He replies that his meeting is at a Japanese restaurant. It will end quickly so they should go together. She hesitates. He tells her that they’re going to be late.

Japanese Restaurant. And the meeting is with Scumbag. Scumbag is talking to someone on his Bluetooth as he drives up. He’s looking quite cocky. Inside, Min Woo puts in their order – I think in Japanese… show off. Ji Sook asks how he can just order for someone like that. He tells her that he’ll pay for it. Waitress arrives with his chopsticks. He stops her from unwrapping them and does it himself.

She turns the subject back to the bed and starts to ask if they could just get the first one. He cuts her off and says that he doesn't like it either! Sleeping with her in the same bed. But what will the family think if they buy another bed? Where was this objection before they started shopping? If the company’s profits drop due to rumors, will she take responsibility? She answers that she’ll just sleep on the sofa like she did before. Indignant, Min Woo declares that he will sleep on the sofa! He slams his hand down on the table for emphasis, scaring the waitress and making her spill the tea. He tells her to sleep on the bed comfortably. Waitress apologizes and reaches over to dry him. He reaches up his hand and tells her to please not touch him. He gets up to clean off.

Scumbag is in the bathroom when Min Woo enters and starts drying his shirt – while still wearing it – under the air dryer. He gives Min Woo a look and exits the bathroom.

Ji Sook leaves the room that they’re eating in and runs into Scumbag in the hall. He calls her name: Ji Sook. He blocks her path down the hall. He says that she’s become so much more prettier. And I want to punch that lecherous look off his face. He says that he almost didn't recognize her yesterday. She tells him that he’s got the wrong person and tries to leave, but he blocks her. With a coaxing voice, he asks what’s wrong. He’s missed her so much. He even did a background check on her car’s license plate.

He steps forward and puts a hand on her shoulder. She jumps and pushes his hand away. He says that it must've been hard, right? She even came to their reunion to borrow money. He should've helped her a little bit more back then. She thinks back to the roll of cash. He tells that she doesn’t need to pay him back. And I so want to punch this smug look off his face. Where’s Min Woo when you need him? Scumbag says that he really gave it to her with a sincere heart... He calls her Ji Sook again and says that they should meet one more time. He’ll help her any time she needs money. When the bank lends it to you, of course. Giving him a last look, she hurries away. He calls after her not to act like that. She can come to him if everything doesn't work out with the man she’s with right now! He just makes my skin crawl.

Min Woo walks up at the tail end of that one. He doesn’t look pleased. He asks if Scumbag’s there for the meeting. Scumbag turns around and Min Woo just looks at him. Scumbag figures out who he is. Head Director Choi Min Woo? Min Woo mirthlessly nods. Scumbag says that it’s nice to meet him. He extends his hand to shake Min Woo’s and says that his name is Kim Jung Tae. I’m still calling him Scumbag. Min Woo just blinks at him and *doesn’t* shake his hand.

Scumbag tells him that he wanted to bring Min Woo to a nice place. But Min Woo’s so busy. Min Woo replies that he’s not that busy. Where is this "nice place" exactly? Why do I have a feeling this guy’s going to take Min Woo to a strip club or something? Min Woo is not amused. Okay, so it’s not a strip club but a honey club.

The girls at the honey club are quite familiar with ‘Oppa’ Scumbag and he tells them to take care of Min Woo because he’s an important person. Min Woo shifts in his seat and notices a briefcase. He frowns slightly and sits back to put up with it all. Dang, that one girl’s dress barely covers her rump. Min Woo gets flanked by a pair. As one reaches in to cuddle, Min Woo yelps and hisses at them as he tries to pull his arm free. He orders them to stay away from him! They’re not sure they heard him right. He repeats that he said to sit away from him.

They slide away and he crosses his arms. Scumbag asks if they’re not to his liking. Humorless, Min Woo says that their perfume is too strong. He is so cracking me up right now. Scumbag asks if he should change them for girls without strong perfume. Min Woo tells him, “No, thank you.” So polite when he’s annoyed. He tells Scumbag to please tell him what Scumbag wants. Scumbag smiles and says that he just wanted to introduce himself. And you’ve made a lousy impression. So accurate. Min Woo, still humorless, tells Scumbag to please tell him what Scumbag wants *now.*

Scumbag tells the girls to leave. He pushes the food on the table aside and pulls out the briefcase. Min Woo basically raises an eyebrow. Scumbag says that he’s learning how to do his dad’s business at a young age, so he’s lacking many things. So, please help him. He pops open the briefcase and shows Min Woo the cash inside. He says to think this as a gift to show his friendliness. Min Woo smiles and says that this is a negotiation bribe right now. Isn’t scumbag afraid of the 5 years jail time and 20 million KRW fine?

Scumbag asks what’s wrong. Is the money not enough? Min Woo replies that it’s not enough for him. He’s someone who has a *lot* of money. Scumbag’s face says that he never thought he’d meet someone with so much money that he couldn’t bribe them. Scumbag asks if there's something else Min Woo wants then. Min Woo says that there is. He leans forward and says that he’s like to not have someone like Scumbag build buildings in our country. Scumbag looks away, a little ticked.

Min Woo asks where Scumbag got the money. From his company, right? It's because he wastes the money that could be spent on construction with things like this that his buildings never last! Min Woo slams the briefcase shut. Min Woo tells Scumbag that he’s investigated thoroughly the buildings that Scumbag’s built. If there is a problem, he will personally make Scumbag take responsibility. All of it. They look at each other.

Min Woo stands and declares that they’re done. As Min Woo starts to walk away, Scumbag asks why Min Woo is doing this to him. They met for the first time today. Min Woo tells him that he usually bases his view of people on the first impression. He walks out. Scumbag groans and glares after him.

Ji Sook timidly approaches a door and thinks about the stupid things that Scumbag said to her. She starts to try and knock again. Seok Hoon appears and asks what she’s doing there. She says that she came in after passing by.

Inside, Ji Sook is nervous. Seok Hoon asks if she won’t tell him why she’s there. She came here because she needs his help, no? So why is she hesitating? She says that she just wanted to tell him that she drank the ginseng tea well. And he knows that’s a lie. She’s there to thank him. He laughs – because he knows that it’s a lie – and says that it’s a relief since it seems like she's able to lie without a problem now. She looks at him. And looks a little bothered. He tells her to just keep on doing that. If she can fool him, then she should do so. That's how she’ll be able to survive then.

She asks if he isn’t tired of living like that. He says that it’s tiring. Why wouldn't it be? But he can't just give up. Is she going to give up? They’re already in the same boat. The more she acts on her own, the more the boat slowly tips over. He leans in and asks about Dad’s debt. Is this how she thought about repaying it? At this rate, the interest will only go up even higher. She's increased the danger of getting found out by getting her family members involved. Think about what will happen if it gets out that she’s not Seo Eun Ha. Will her family become happier? Or more miserable?

He reaches out and puts a hand on her shoulder. He says that there are things she can only talk to him about and not Min Woo. There will be more of that in the future. The person she can rely on in this world is him. It's sad but it's the truth. She looks at him. He pats her shoulder and then removes his hand. And his face is smug. Ji Sook’s face says that she’s not going to be a pushover any more.

Ji Sook walks in her old neighborhood, towards her parent’s restaurant. He’s brought the sack of money. Inside, Dad is rejoicing at what a success the new menu is. Mom says that she thinks it’s strange, that they would just suddenly sponsor the orphanage like that. Dad tells her to chill and enjoy it. Mom says that she keeps feeling like someone is continuously helping them. Mom looks out the window and sees Ji Sook. Mom runs outside. Ji Sook immediately hides her face and walks away. Mom runs after her. Mom takes a spill and collapses coughing. Pathetically. Ji Sook softly tells Mom that she’s sorry. Mom looks at the sleeve that she was coughing into and there’s blood. Of course there is.

Seok Hoon pulls into the garage. His way is blocked by Scumbag’s car. They seem to know each other. Scumbag wants to go someplace and talk. He has a favor to ask Seok Hoon. They go get some food. Seok Hoon is very pleasant and tells him to eat well. The guy is a noisy eater. Yuck. He says that the food that other people buy him is the best! But isn’t Seok Hoon going to ask what the favor is? Seok Hoon just looks at him. It’s like he’s waiting for the performance to get over so they can get to the end. Scumbag tells him not to worry. It’s not a hard request.

After stuffing his mouth again, Scumbag asks what the new Head Director wants. There must be something else he wants that he said he's going to change the contractor of the shopping mall for no reason. Scumbag asks if Min Woo likes women. What is with this implication that Min Woo is gay? Seok Hoon chuckles and says, “Not at all.” Scumbag says that he saw Min Woo with a woman earlier, a woman that he even played with, too. This gets Seok Hoon’s attention. Scumbag keeps talking – none of which is important, just the fact that he’s digging his grave with Seok Hoon.

Seok Hoon puts down his chopsticks and loosens his tie. He smiles and asks what this woman’s name, the one that Scumbag played with before. Scumbag asks why he wants to know. Is Seok Hoon planning to dig around into her background? Nice thinking! Clueless, he says that her name is Byeon Ji Sook. She was a classmate of his. She ran away after seeing him. It seems like there's something she's hiding. Seok Hoon’s face looks like it’s permanently stuck in a frown now.

Scumbag thinks that digging into Ji Sook’s background will make everything turn out. As long as talk of changing the contractor doesn't come out, talk of the Executive Director's personal life won't come out. Good for Seok Hoon and good for him. Cool?

Min Woo arrives how. When he enters their bedroom, he looks at Ji Sook. She apologizes for leaving earlier. She says that she had a personal reason for leaving first. His face not revealing anything, he asks if that’s so. He says that he’s going to shower so if she’s tired, she should sleep on the bed. He’s going to sleep on the sofa.

She says his name and when he looks at her, she smiles slightly and asks if he wants to have a drink.

Scumbag is heading out to his car. Seok Hoon is following up behind him. He’s removed his belt and is twisting it around his hands like he’s going to strangle Scumbag. Seok Hoon leaps forward as the unsuspecting Scumbag smiles at his phone.

Chul and Yun Soo get them some wine. Min Woo takes a sip and asks why it’s so bitter. She says that if it is, they can change it. He pulls out some whiskey and pours himself a shot. The face he makes when it goes down is hysterical. Min Woo makes a face more than once but declares that now it's drinkable. She asks if there’s something wrong. He says that she’s the one who asked to drink first. She looks at him. He asks if there’s something wrong.

She looks down and says that she can't tell him. What about him? Min Woo looks at her, a little shocked. Him? She just wants him to tell her. She says that she could possibly help. He looks at her. He thinks of what she said earlier, when she told him not to be nice to her. They’re just using each other like he said. It wouldn’t be good to go any further. He laughs to himself, a little bitter. She’s going to help him?

He asks her if she’s always this way with other men, too? Is this how she gets what she wants? Her face says that she’s hurt by the question. She looks down. He immediately tries to dig himself out of the hole he just put himself in. She breathes in and says that he’s right. He’s right. She is that sort of person. She pours herself some more wine.

Without looking at her, he asks if this is because of Scumbag. She stops pouring at the question. He saw them talking. Is it because of him? She doesn’t say anything… really move at all. Afraid of what he's going to say. He sighs and shakes his head. He mutters that he was going to let it go, but she’s making it so obvious. He sighs and tells her not to worry about it. They agreed not to care about each other's personal life.

Ji Sook takes a big swig of wine. She exhales and says that she has many secrets. She is wearing a mask. He looks over at her. She pours herself some more wine.

A screeching car in the parking garage gives Scumbag a reprieve. Seok Hoon still looks murderous though. He wears the same look as he drives home.

It starts to rain. Ji Sook and Min Woo continue to drink. Ji Sook says that it’s lonely living with a mask on. The look on Min Woo’s face says that he knows exactly what she means. She says that you cry alone and laugh alone. You do everything alone. Aw, she could be talking about Min Woo right now. She goes to pour herself some more and Min Woo grabs the bottle. He looks at it and says that he is also wearing a mask. He looks at her and says they should drink together. He pours her some. She smiles slightly.

He wonders who isn’t wearing a mask? Unless you are a kid. And ultimately, all of us laugh alone… and cry alone. He sighs and says that trying not to show it is hard for everyone. He starts to pour himself another glass, but she stops him. Smiling, she pours it instead. He smiles slightly. They clink glasses and drink. They now look very comfortable with each other. Ji Sook says, “To the person walking in the rain, he needs someone next to him, rather than an umbrella.” Min Woo leans his chin on his hand. Ji Sook says that “For a crying person, a chest to lean on is needed more than a handkerchief.” He finishes the poem she’s quoting: “I only realized after meeting you.” He smiles and says that he likes that poem, too (A Shoulder to Cry On).

This moment of connection unnerves her a little. She scratches the back of her neck and says that they are out of booze. She gets up to get more and stumbles. He catches her. She smiles and starts to walk, but he isn’t letting go. He looks at her and slowly pulls her to him. As he holds her, he says, “A shoulder to cry on, I'll lend it to you just today.” She can just cry if she wants to. Just cry and don't say a word. Her tears start to flow.

Seok Hoon arrives home. He is hot.

After a long while, Ji Sook pulls away. He looks at her and say that her… he doesn’t like. She looks at him. He doesn’t like how she keeps saying thank you and don't like that she keeps sleeping on the sofa. He doesn’t like her being sick and mingling with other man. Her facial expression. Her gaze. The sound of her breath. And her lips. Her lips... He plants one on her – as the music swells and I am fanning myself. Creeper Seok Hoon peers at them through the glass – which makes him look all distorted.

It’s a relatively long kiss, but then Ji Sook shoves Min Woo away. She puts the back of her hand to her lips, like it’s been violated. Not looking at her – and his eyes a little glassy – Min Woo says that he said everything he wanted to say and heard her answers, too. He gets up to leave. Feeling rejected. Aw.

She says that she… He stops. She says that she is not Seo Eun Ha. He turns around and looks at her and asks, “What?” She says that the person he married is not Seo Eun Ha. He chuckles with disbelief. What is she saying? If she’s not Seo Eun Ha, then who is she? She starts to say that her name is… Episode ends. With Seok Hoon about to bust in on them.

Thoughts

Oh, my gosh! They kissed! I’m still fanning myself thinking of it. It just took a little liquor to get him to admit how he feels. And it looks like she’s about to confess everything, because she doesn’t want him to feel rejected, because she *does* want to have that connection and those kisses, but Seok Hoon’s going to interrupt, so I’m not even wondering. But hopefully, this will get all those seeds to sprout in Min Woo’s brain. How she’s so different than the Eun Ha he met and knew before.

That whole part at the end, where he gave her a shoulder (or chest as it were) to cry on was so sweet. So sweet. Min Woo is just a sweet guy… trapped in Choi’s House of Horrors. And what a house it is. People constantly scheming, competing. One is never safe. No wonder Min Woo’s a germophobe.

As I was watching them drink, I was thinking that Eun Ha would never have been able to get this far with Min Woo, because the thing that attracts him *is* Ji Sook. Not what she looks like, but who she is and how she believes in him and is *good.* Plus, she *cares* about things, so much so that she gets depressed about them.

There were several times this episode where I was grinning like an idiot, watching Min Woo be in denial. Especially at the furniture store. The stuff with the bed is very telling and symbolic of their relationship. When they first got married, her merely sitting on the bed made him change the bedding. As they’ve grown closer, he has, unprovoked, carried her and put her in his bed. He’s let her sleep there and then *with him* in it. And he ends up sleeping on her pillow with her. The more he’s trusted her and fallen in love with her, the more he’s welcomed her into his space.

I felt really bad for him, when he took her shoving him away as a rejection. There were several times that he felt rejected this episode, when she wasn’t rejecting him at all. After he saves her life and is standing there with a goofy grin on his face, she repeats what he keeps saying – that it’s all business – and he feels rejected in spite of himself. He kills me as he keeps saying that he thinks of her a cold rock rather than a woman. Heh.

It cracks me up how he took the advice from all three of the office workers – taking care of Ji Sook, wanting to give her a mall and telling Chang Soo to tell her that he *doesn’t* love her, which, of course, Chang Soo translates to mean that Min Woo says that he *does* love her. Heh.

I wonder how long Scumbag is for this world. Not that I will miss him at all. He’s a scumbag. But he almost got strangled by Seok Hoon this episode, so the guy won’t be around much longer, especially since he’s a threat to Seok Hoon’s plan. And Seok Hoon seems to be getting more and more unhinged.

I do wonder about Seok Hoon’s reactions to the more recent developments between Ji Sook and Min Woo. It’s almost like he’s jealous, rather than worried that he’s losing control. I mean, smashing his laptop when she dumps out the ginseng he brought her. And the hand on her shoulder as he says that *he’s* the only one she can count on. The loss of Eun Ha has affected him more than he realizes. And watching Min Woo get the affection that he’s craving, that’s making him more and more reckless. I mean, he almost personally strangled someone instead of having Minion do it.
