Mask Episode 13 Recap

Mi Yeon watches Seok Hoon cry at Eun Ha’s grave and realizes that she *killed* Eun Ha. Well, she didn’t actually kill her, but her inaction led to Eun Ha’s brain death and eventual death. She’s stunned. What did she expect when she walked away while the woman was drowning?

Ji Sook discovers Eun Ha’s diary, which asks if she could really kill Choi Min Woo? Seok Hoon tells Eun Ha that if Choi Min Woo is dead, Eun Ha will inherit all his assets. They could do many things with those assets. The next page says: If you marry Choi Min Woo, you must divorce him within a year. Otherwise, Seok Hoon will kill Choi Min Woo. So, she wasn’t going to go along with Min Woo’s murder. And she knows Seok Hoon will. There’s a business card in the journal for Lee Tae Seung. She was planning on the divorce.

[Episode 13 – Marriage Proposal and Divorce]

Min Woo puts the ring on her finger. She smiles. He’s remembering the moment. He groans. He left something out... He left something out! Bro time with Chang Soo. Chang Soo asks what’s wrong. Min Woo says that he gave her the ring, but he didn't ask her to marry him. He groans again and asks himself why he did that. Chang Soo points out that the two of them are already married. Min Woo asks him if marrying with contract a marriage? Marriage comes after the marriage proposal. Chang Soo makes a face like that makes sense. He is busy eating, too. Min Woo looks at Chang Soo and declares that he has to formally propose to her before it is too late. Chang Soo gives him a ‘Fighting!’

Mi Yeon is sitting on the bed, looking at all the baby stuff she’s bought. Seok Hoon enters and notices her. He asks if something’s the matter. She says that she went to the hospital because she wanted to see if the baby is alright. And… she’s not pregnant. Doctor told her that the hormone shots made the test register a false pregnancy. She even did an ultrasound to confirm. No baby. I was afraid that was coming.

Seok Hoon says that they can try again. Mi Yeon looks at him and says that they shouldn’t go back to the hospital until her delivery. She can't trust the doctors. How could the doctor say that to their baby? Seok Hoon thinks for a moment on what to do and gently says her name. She says that it’s her body. She can feel it! Seok Hoon nods and reaches over to pick up one of the bags with baby things in it. She tells him not to touch them. She jumps to the floor to body block him from reaching them. These are their baby's, so don't touch them. Don't touch anything! She looks at an outfit. Thinking of Eun Ha, she says that she killed her baby. Because of her, Sarang Hae is dead. She starts to cry. Seok Hoon reaches out to comfort her but she shoves his hand away. She weeps.

Dad has decided to create a director position for Eun Ha at their coffee franchise business. Min Woo points out that the coffee business is operating at loss now. If it doesn't work out, Seo Eun Ha would have to take the full responsibility. Stepmom responds that Eun Ha will just have to do it well It’s better than working at the bottom at headquarters. Min Woo starts to continue to object but Dad asks Ji Sook how she feels about it. She says that she’ll do it. Min Woo says Eun Ha’s name, asking her to reconsider. She tells him that, as mother-in-law said, it will be all right if she does it well. She tells Dad that she will work well and diligently.

Dad asks – his voice stern – when Mi Yeon is going to start working again. Stepmom says that Mi Yeon will go back soon. She still has time before her stomach gets round. Ie, the baby showing. Dad makes a face. Stepmom tells Mi Yeon to go back to work starting today. She says that she will, but she asks for a director position for her as well, rather than a lowly employee. She wants to work well. Dad asks why Mi Yeon’s mind has changed so suddenly. For what reason? She didn't have any interest in company's business before.

Mi Yeon says that it’s hard. Dad asks what is. She tells them that she's not pregnant. Everyone is shocked. The maternity clinic said it was a false positive. She whispers that she’s an idiot… How much must she have wanted it that... Seok Hoon looks down. Like he actually feels bad for her. She looks at Dad and says that she doesn't want to think about anything right now and just wants to only focus on work, so please let her. Dad sighs.

As they leave the dining room, Stepmom gently asks if Mi Yeon is okay, She replies that she doesn't want to talk about it anymore. Please. Min Woo tells her that she’ll have good news soon. Ji Sook agrees and takes a step towards Mi Yeon – like she’s going to comfort her. Her voice hard, Mi Yeon commands Ji Sook not to come any closer. She sighs and asks them all to leave me alone. She goes upstairs and leaves a picture of Ji Sook with her family on Min Woo’s desk. Where’d she get the picture? I can’t see Ji Hyuk giving it to her.

As they get ready for work, Ji Sook is quiet. Min Woo asks her to please understand Mi Yeon being so sensitive. She really liked having baby. Ji Sook nods with understanding. Of course, she must be heart-broken. He tells her not to feel too pressured about the coffee business. Just be diligent– She interrupts him and says that she is going to do it well. She really wants to do it well. She smiles and leaves.

Min Woo spots the photo and wonders if it’s a picture of the nanny's family? Didn’t notice Ji Hyuk in that photo? I’d have thought you would have remembered him. The guy who called Ji Sook ‘Noona,’ who she said she didn’t know and let you think was her lover. That guy.

The maids (and Yun Soo) are carting off all the baby stuff while Mi Yeon get dressed. She acts like everything is normal. Seok Hoon asks if they have to clean it up now. Yun Soo says that Mi Yeon said to clean it now. She hurries out with the last of if. Seok Hoon asks she’s going to work starting today. When she says she is, he tells her to just rest today. She looks at him like he has two heads as she asks if he expects her to rest at their house? She tells him to pass her her hand phone. She says that there’s a picture on it. He should look at it. What picture is that? That’s making me nervous. It’s the picture of Eun Ha and Seok Hoon when he gave Eun Ha The Necklace.

Mi Yeon says that Eun Ha must have really forgotten her relationship with him. She thought Eun Ha was pretending to not remember. Or else, how could Eun Ha live here and ignore you like that? He's blinking because he’s trying to figure out how to fix this, play this. She looks at him and says that he said it, right? For her to believe his lies in order to win this game. Seok Hoon jaw clench. She looks at him and says that she won't believe his lies anymore. Because ultimately the person who believe lies will lose, in this game.

Chang Soo and Min Woo are out by the car. Chang Soo asks why Min Woo would asks him about proposing to Madam. It’s his marriage proposal, so he should think about it. Chang Soo folds his arms and tells Min Woo to say his thoughts first. Min Woo wonders about giving her another wedding ring? All you would have to do is take it off and say ‘I want this to be a real wedding ring. Marry me, Eun Ha.’ That’s all he’d have to say. Chang Soo replies that that would make Eun Ha have two wedding rings.

Min Woo asks if he should rent an amusement park and propose? You mean like how Goo Jun Pyo did at Namsan Tower in ‘BOF’? Chang Soo scoffs, asking if he’s trying to show off his money? Min Woo sigh-groans and taps the bridge of his nose while he thinks. And this is why I love Joo Ji Hoon. He gets an idea: he’ll her somewhere that has nice scenery. Then with the look that he does well, he’ll gaze her, with this subtle, loving look in his eyes, and say, ‘Eun Ha-shi, shall we… … …marry again?’ With the look he does well. He’s cracking me up. And that subtle, loving look reminds me of Min Woo with indigestion.

He asks Chang Soo what the man thinks. Chang Soo enthusiastically slaps Min Woo on the arm as he proudly tells him he thought of something! Chang Soo quickly rubs the spot and tells Min Woo that it's coming out of him when he tries. He tells Min Woo to please get in. Min Woo looks at the spot on his arm a few times.

Eun Ha arrives with Manager at the coffee shop. Manager says that the store is operating at a loss for 13 weeks straight now. At this rate, this store may have to be closed. Because this store was the first store in its franchise, closing this store will have a big negative impact on the brand name. Ji Sook says that they have to change the interior and develop new menus. She says that she’ll take care of the marketing. Manager wonders how.

Switch to Ji Sook meeting with reporters to tell them that they are making coffee using environmentally-friendly and non-antibiotic organic milk, with taste and health in mind. Reporter1 asks about the charity that Eun Ha will be setting up. Ji Sook says that she plans to set up a charity and donate 10% of their profits. The main recipients of the charity will be people who can't continue their education due to lack of money – she thinks of herself – and people who can't be treated for illnesses due to lack of money – thinks of Mom. She plan to prioritize those people first. Reporter1 asks if she’s doing this because her father is campaigning for the presidency. Ji Sook says that this is the work she wants to do. She’s staking her own reputation on it.

Seok Hoon meets with her in the stairwell at SJ Group, holding a tablet with the article on it: SJ Group Director Seo Eun Ha, an exemplary business contributor to society. He asks if she’s in her right mind? What if her family sees her face? She asks what the problem is. Byeon Ji Sook is dead. Good point. She’s going to donate half of the stocks that she’ll receive in the future. He should donate with her. Isn't that what he wanted? His face cracks as he ask what she just said. She asks if he’s forgotten what he said already.

Flashback where Seok Hoon says, “The world where the people have money sing and the people who don't have money are screaming. We are living in the hell now. We'll make a heaven together.” She minds him that they are making a heaven together, Min Seok Hoon.

Min Woo spots the article. He thinks. He prints it out and heads to the copier, where he makes 30 copies of it and walks away. When Manager finds the copy, he pretends that he’s completely surprised. What is this? Isn't that Seo Eun Ha? Seo Eun Ha is doing this awesome work? Wow, this should be known to more people. Perfect timing for the copies. Did you do it, Manager Yang? Manager shakes his head.

Mi Yeon walks up and says that Min Woo did it, didn't he? Acting innocent, he looks at the copier. She looks at the article and says that it’s pretentious. These aren't even her shares to donate. Min Woo calls her ‘Noona.’ The Gossip Trio splits. Mi Yeon shrugs and concedes that she’ll support Eun Ha, since she’s doing it for a good cause.

Mi Yeon mentions that there’s a training session for customer service today. Eun Ha is attending. Will he come to support, too? He didn’t know anything about it. Mi Yeon says that since Eun Ha is doing good work, they should go and show her their support.

Switch to Ji Sook’s work buddies, who have been put in charge of the training class. Manager thinks it will be no big deal but her friends are stressed about it.

Seok Hoon is meeting with Minion. The training class situation has been set up by Mi Yeon. Seok Hoon thinks about Mi Yeon’s behavior right around Eun Ha’s accident, where she said he had to be on her side, even if she killed someone! He tells Minion that the thing he didn't want to know even if the world was crumbling around him, he needs to know it now. He tells Minion to investigate Mi Yeon. He looks a little more psycho than usual. Since his world has started crumbling.

Customer Service Training. Manager says that the most important thing in customer service is the smile. In order to make your smile look natural, you must practice. First, an exercise lifting corners of your mouth by saying “Waikiki.” Ji Sook joins in with everyone – and she’s very at ease now that she’s embraced being Eun Ha fully. Min Woo is reading a report and not participating. Mi Yeon is watching the pair and frowning.

Ji Sook looks at him and asks if he’s smiling. Min Woo asks, “Me?” Ji Sook tells him that if he came to the class, he should do his best. Mal Ja asks the Executive Director if he would please try to smile once? She pokes at her cheeks while saying “Waikiki.” Ji Sook tells him to give them a smile while looking at her face. She gives him a big smile and he gives her a forced grin back. The class applauds him. Once Manager tells him he did well, Min Woo stops smiling and goes back to reading.

Class takes a break. Mi Yeon approaches them. She asks to talk to Ji Sook a minute. Mi Yeon asks her about her smiling. She smiled a lot in that class. She didn't seem to smile before. Ji Sook says that she just wanted to smile. Mi Yeon says that she’s curious about something. Was Eun Ha forcing her smile in there or is it from her heart? Ji Sook’s smile becomes a little more forced at she looks at Mi Yeon. Mi Yeon tells her to think about the reason for her marriage. She signed a contract for her marriage because of the money. Ji Sook looks down, not smiling now. Yet she wants to smile. Does it mean she’s forcing herself to smile, even though she doesn’t like it?

Mi Yeon tells her that she should smile while she can. She may not be able to smile later. Ji Sook says that she will do that. She will smile, even if she has to force herself to. Mi Yeon’s right. She did marry for money. She always feels guilty for that both to Min Woo and to the family. But she still wants to live with a smile. If it is okay. She smiles brightly.

Min Woo is still reading his report. Mal Ja is asking Myung Hwa how Eun Ha can look just like Ji Sook? She really thought Ji Sook came back alive. Myung Hwa thought the smile was the same too. Manager tells them to give it a rest. Byeon Ji Sook had been dead for a while now. Not looking up from his report, he asks what they’re talking about. He looks at them and asks who looks like whom? Manager laughs and waves her hand. He doesn't have to worry about it.

Mal Ja and Myung Hwa walk over to him – which causes him to lean back – and makes me chuckle – and Mal Ja says that they had a friend working at the department store and her name was Ji Sook. She looked so very much like the Madam. Mal Ja starts to wax poetic, but Mi Yeon and Ji Sook return. Mal Ja and Myung Hwa scurry away. Ji Sook doesn’t miss that they were talking.

As class lets out, Ji Sook stops and tells Manager that she did good work today. The information should help her a lot. They are pleasant and complimentary.

Later her friends are missing her. Manager tells them to cut it out. Those of us who are alive must continue to live on. And their monthly sales dropped again! Chang Soo arrives with a present from Ji Sook. It’s clutches for Mal Ja and Myung Hwa and a leather wallet for Manager. She feels gypped. Heh.

Min Woo is watching Ji Sook work, giving instructions for the coffee shop remodel. He thinks of what Mal Ja said about their dead friend. He shakes his head and tells himself that it’s not important. It’s not important. Yun Soo walks up and asks why it is not. He is really going to give her more incentives if she works there, right? He is, but Yun Soo really has to help Seo Eun Ha. He promises a bonus, if things end up well. Yun Soo is incentivized. She’ll really do her best, with all her soul.

Ji Sook walks over and tells Min Woo that they need to start developing menus right away. If they create an exclusive coffee that's only in our store, a lot of customers probably will come. Min Woo asks if she’s sure about creating menus? What he means is, if she wants to develop menus, she’ll need something refreshing. He suggests that they go somewhere with a great view and relax, so she can get lots of ideas and feel refreshed. Real smooth, dude.

Ji Sook likes the idea and suggests that they *all* go on a retreat for an idea conference, while the interior construction takes place. He has to agree… since they're going to work, not play. Yun Soo asks if they’re getting paid for non-working hours and gets hissed at by both Min Woo and Manager.

Mi Yeon is meeting with the CCTV guy who knows that she deleted the footage. He says that he really didn't tell anyone and won't be telling anyone either in the future. She wants to know if the footage can be restored. What is she thinking now? He says it can’t. He made sure it can't be restored when he erased it. She asks if there isn’t a copy somewhere. He asks why would there be such a thing? She gives him a fat envelope full of money and tells him that if that event ever becomes known, he’ll have to pay for it.

Minion photographing Mi Yeon and guy leaving meeting. Loan Shark is following Minion. Minion gives photos to Seok Hoon and reports that Guy used to work at the residence. He was in charge of swimming pool security. He quit a month ago, saying his father was ill. Seok Hoon sighs.

Ji Hyuk and parents arrive at the coffee franchise. Dad is over the moon and can’t believe the store is theirs. Ji Hyuk tells Mom to just concentrate on getting better. Myung Hwa arrives with a bouquet. She says that she’s about to cry. Ji Hyuk asks why she would and she snaps that it’s because she’s happy for Oppa. Mom tells her that when they owned the snack bar, Ji Hyuk complained that Myung Hwa didn't come often. Busted! He protests like it never happened and Mom says that he was talking about Myung Hwa just yesterday. She’s encouraged. He’s embarrassed and Dad declares that he’s the witness.

From a distance, Ji Sook watches her happily. She meets with Ji Hyuk later and gives him a hard time for wearing the shirt she gave him that he said he wasn’t going to wear. He claims that it was an accident since he was in a rush. She asks how he likes the store. He says they do. She asks about Mom’s health and he lies about her needing a liver transplant. He gives her a gift of a new watch. And he’s brought her food that Mom made. She enjoys it, but it also makes her miss Mom.

Min Woo is at the store, asking for recommendations for his important business trip tomorrow, in case it storms. Clerk points out that this is a women's clothing store. He says that he knows. He’s there to pick out clothes for his wife. Give me some recommendations. Chang Soo holds up the first outfit and Min Woo says that it’s so dull... Chang Soo starts to put it back, but Min Woo adds that it won't be if Seo Eun Ha wears it. Next outfit is too short... but it will look great on Seo Eun Ha. Chang Soo is cracking me up with how he’s posing with the outfits. The third one is too fancy... but no one can pull it off other than Seo Eun Ha.

They leave the store with 6 bags worth of clothes. I hope they’re the right size.

Minion tracks down CCTV man. He mutters that he didn't tell anyone. Minion asks what he just said. CCTV man runs... and promptly gets hit by Goon, who drives off. Not Loan Shark’s plan, but it happened. CCTV man ends up unconscious in the hospital. Seok Hoon gets the news and looks at his wedding portrait. After a pained look, he hurls it to the ground. He pulls out the graduation photo and caresses Eun Ha’s face. He remembers how she wanted to leave everything and run away right now. She can go anywhere if he says so. She can leave everything behind. He tells her that they have something to do in that house. Eun Ha asks who the revenge is going to benefit. She asks him to just think about them so they can live happily. Then he looks at the wedding portrait of Ji Sook and Min Woo and imagines himself in it with Eun Ha. Tears form in his eyes.

At the house, Ji Sook is asking about all the clothes Min Woo bought. He tells her to wear all of them. He threw away the receipt so they can't be returned anyway. Seok Hoon approaches and Ji Sook asks what’s wrong. He doesn’t say anything, just stares at Ji Sook. Min Woo tries to get his attention by saying ‘Brother-in-law.’ Mi Yeon walks up and suggests that Seok Hoon wants to talk with Eun Ha. Isn't it right? She tells Min Woo to come talk to her.

Once they’re alone, Mi Yeon asks him if he heard about it, how there's someone who looks exactly like your wife. He says he heard. She asks what Eun Ha said. He didn't tell his wife? He asks why he would. She replies that Eun Ha must be curious, too, since there's someone who looks exactly like her. He frowns and asks if Mi Yeon’s the one put the family picture of Seo Eun Ha's nanny in his room? She’s not very convincing when she asks, “What?” He tells her that right now, he’s getting along fine with Seo Eun Ha. Noona shouldn’t get in the way.

Ji Sook’s meeting with Seok Hoon isn’t much better. He tells her to listen carefully. She’s not Seo Eun Ha, she's Byeon Ji Sook. No matter how much she acts like Seo Eun Ha and tries to live Seo Eun Ha's life, in the end, she’s just worthless Byeon Ji Sook. She can never be the real Seo Eun Ha. Shes’ not phased. He tells her that if she’s fake, to live like a fake. She better not dare to dream about living happily. She doesn't have the right to live like that. Ji Sook smiles slightly and says that she may be fake to him, but she’s real to Min Woo. She’s the real Seo Eun Ha. Bam!

Ji Sook models one of the new outfits. And I really like that purple sweater that Min Woo is wearing. He tries to put in to words… this is a little... It's just... confusing... He doesn't know if the flower is her or the dress... Cheesy. He’s the one that picked it out. She chuckles. She asks if he doesn't feel itchy after saying such a thing? He replies that he’s itchy. Will she scratch him? Rowr! A little flirting going on! And he says it with such a straight face. She smiles and says that she will scratch him.

She asks where and he supplies his back. After she scratches a couple of spots, she tickles him. He laughs loudly, which surprises them both. He coughs to regain his composure and brings up the contract they wrote for their marriage... He suggests that they revise it. She’s agreeable.

Sitting by their plant, they read through the contract: “In case of unwanted physical contact, a criminal charge will be filed.” He asks her if a criminal charge isn’t too much between a married couple? She agrees and says that they should erase that article. He acts surprised. Really? He was going to compromise with a warning. She starts to go with it but he says they should erase it. He crosses through it 3 times – just to make sure.
“Don't interfere with another's private life.” He mutters that that part can be a bit sensitive. She suggests “one can interfere with the other's private life only with consent.” She says that it’s a bit weird for a couple to be too ignorant. And maybe it should be ‘care for’ instead of ‘interfere.’ He likes that idea. Of course, like he wasn’t thinking that anyway.

He says that he’s adding an article: “Sleeping is allowed only on the bed.” No more sleeping on the couch. Does she agree? She nods. He tells her that that’s enough. He’s going to sleep now... since he has to leave early tomorrow. He quickly gets into bed. He flips down her side’s covers and asks if she isn’t going to sleep. And I am rolling. He is just too cute.

Seok Hoon is lying awake in bed with Mi Yeon, thinking about her telling him that he *has* to be on her side, even if she’s killed someone. He rolls onto his eyes and Mi Yeon opens her eyes and looks over at him. What is with these people pretending to be asleep? She thinks about him crying at Eun Ha’s ashes.

Staff retreat.

♬  Because you are my love  ♬

Yun Soo is excited. She hasn’t been on a trip in a long time. Chang Soo is going, too. And I think Yun Soo and Chang Soo would be really cute and they could have lots of Soo children.

♬  I have never had second thoughts♬

Min Woo repeats that they’re not going on a trip for fun. They’re going to have idea conference. We're going to work.

♬  Because we are so alike ♬

Manager, Yun Soo and Chang Soo all mutter, “Okay.” Ji Sook is smiling at his silliness.

♬  even just by looking into your eyes I feel it♬

He tells her, especially, not to think about playing.

♬  Love should be the same, girl ♬

Only think about work. She nods agreeably.

♬ Yes, we are like Decalcomanie♬
♬ Yes, we should gradually get to know girl  ♬

The maids pack the trunk and Ji Sook notices how much luggage they’re putting in.

♬ The words that say I love you so much as though I were crazy ♬
♬ Somehow I want my feelings to remain being giving ♬

Aren't they going for work?

♬ I'm looking forward to spending every day beside you again ♬

He says that he needs everything in there.

♬ The day I'm going to meet you♬
♬ Love came to a stop in my heart♬

Looking at her luggage he asks if she isn’t going for work.

♬ Love came to a stop in my heart♬

She smiles and says that she has to wear pretty clothes to have high efficiency.

♬ I'm shouting that it can't be missed ♬
♬ I'm shouting that it can't be missed ♬
♬ Being unable to wait a moment longer ♬

Min Woo runs over to Chang Soo and tells him to go first.

♬ Now it just feels like we are going to be more alike ♬

Manager asks if they aren't going together. Min Woo says that he’ll see them there. He gives Chang Soo a look and kicks him in the shin. Then he mutters at him.

♬ Even if I say I love you. I love you several times ♬

Chang Soo is still clueless. Min Woo gives him a significant look and steps on his foot. Nothing. Finally, Min Woo kicks him in the butt and tells him to go! The three hurry into the RV.

♬ Shouting the song for you is not enough for you ♬
♬ Why does a day without you feel so long? ♬

The RV speeds off. Min Woo sighs and pretends like he’s surprised. Wow, he asked them to wait a little but they have no sense of loyalty, just leaving them behind.

♬ In the wind blowing from far away ♬

Ji Sook says that they should go quickly and catch up with them. Min Woo says that she has to stop somewhere with him.

♬ I keep hearing your voice ♬

He takes her to a sunglasses store and says that the UV rays are too strong today. He’ll pick out a pair for you. She says that she has a lot at home. He replies that she doesn't have anything that he picked for her. He finds the perfect pair and, when she asks, says that they won’t stand out at all. She puts them on while they’re driving. He asks if it feel like it's blocking UV rays? She says that it seems so. He pulls out his sunglasses and they’re the same. Dork! Couples sunglasses. Such a dork!

CCTV Guy has woken up. Seok Hoon goes to visit him and there *is* a copy of the footage. Guy says that he wasn’t thinking of threatening Mi Yeon. He just kept a copy because he was scared. Seok Hoon wants the footage.

Everyone arrives at the retreat at the same time. Ji Sook and Min Woo emerge from the car not wearing the sunglasses. Manager smiles and says that even the air is different there. Ji Sook suggests that they all drink in the air. Chang Soo really likes that idea. Everyone enthusiastically breathes in through their noses, except for Min Woo. He’s too dignified for that. Instead, he announces that they should *go inside* and have a meeting about their ideas. Ji Sook looks at him, surprised. Chang Soo’s face says ‘Really, bro? Really?’ and Yun Soo pouts a little. Manager looks at the ground sadly.

Min Woo asks them what’s wrong. Ji Sook says that they should go eat first. And on days like this, Min Woo should cook for them, right? He doesn’t quite know what to do with that idea, but goes with it.

Min Woo flips the apron out a couple of times before putting it on. It’s a manly, black apron. Ji Sook watches him work and smiles.

♫ If you are looking at my image now ♫

With determination, he puts on his wife gloves. His face is cracking me up. Ji Sook finds it humorous as well.

♫ If perhaps the memory of me brings you to tears ♫

Yun Soo and Chang Soo drool over the meat he’s making them.

♫ In a place you can't reach ♫

Min Woo does some fancy sprinkling of seasonings on the meat, which Yun Soo and Chang Soo heartily cheer, impressed. I love Chang Soo’s face; he loves his boss so much.

♫ I will live as though I were dead. Please don't cry. ♫

Ji Sook takes pictures of Min Woo in action.

♫ If you are looking at my image now ♫

He asks why she’s taking pictures. She says that nothing remains except pictures.

♫ In a place you can't reach ♫

Min Woo starts chopping the onions. Chang Soo leans in and asks Yun Soo why Min Woo is doing it the hard way?

♫ I'll live ♫

She replies that he’s just showing off.  They are sitting awfully close together. I think we might get some ‘Soo’s out of this weekend, after all.

♫ as though dead there ♫

♫ Don't cry anymore because of me ♫

Ji Sook starts to get pensive, because she knows that she’s still living a lie. She smiles in spite of that.

Min Woo serves up the food and the Soos and Manager cheer that they’ll eat well. Min Woo sits. He motions for Ji Sook to go ahead. Oh, please, let it not be terrible, since he looks like he’s waiting to see if she likes it. Ji Sook takes a bite and has to fight to not react. Min Woo’s looking at her expectantly. At the other table, Manager takes a bite and almost gags. He wonders how it can be both salty and bland at the same time. Yun Soo says that it is challenging to grill like that. Chang Soo really almost loses his dinner. Min Woo glares at Chang Soo, because the man is supposed to make him look good. He looks at Ji Sook and smiles. She smiles back and nods like she’s enjoying the meat. Well, it was *her* idea to make him cook.

Mi Yeon finds out from CCTV man that Seok Hook came by and knows there’s a copy of the footage somewhere. She yells at him for not telling *her* that the footage existed. Then she asks how he ended up in the hospital. When she hears that it was a hit and run, she wonders if it was really an accident. She leaves CCTV man’s room and immediately calls Seok Hoon. She begs him not to watch it. He doesn’t say anything, because he’s watching it. He watches his wife leave the woman he loved to drown. He starts to cry again.

Seok Hoon wanders down to the pool, dazed. Your greed did this to her. He thinks of giving her CPR and starts to cry again, dropping to his knees, overcome. I actually feel bad for him right now, he looks so pathetic.

Mi Yeon returns home and sees that Seok Hoon has watched it. She looks out the window and sees him sobbing by the pool. She spots his wallet and discovers a picture of Ji Sook stuck behind the picture of them as a couple. She rips Ji Sook’s picture to shreds. She goes downstairs and asks where Min Woo and Eun Ha went. Chul says that they went to Dam Yang.

Min Woo and Ji Sook are sitting with the three at the same table. They’re now drinking beers together. Min Woo is, of course, making sure that the rim of his can is clean. Yun Soo says that Min Woo woke her up, saying there was a big problem. He wanted her to change the filter on the air cleaner. She says that she was tempted to put a hole in the filter. Min Woo says that it’s understandable.

He asks Chang Soo if he has any gripes. Chang Soo mentions the money that Min Woo borrowed from him when he made Chang Soo cancel his annuity. Min Woo motions at Chang Soo to stop talking but Chang Soo misses it. He says that it wakes him up at night. When is Min Woo going to pay him back? Min Woo is clearly annoyed and reaches over to hit Chang Soo. Chang Soo moves out of reach and Min Woo pretends that he was just reaching over to straighten out the plate in front of Chang Soo. Through bared teeth, Min Woo smiles and says that he told Chang Soo that he’d pay him when they get back to Seoul, didn't he? Chang Soo’s reaction says that that’s news to him but he nods.

Min Woo asks if Manager has any complaints. Of course, Manager doesn’t! Manager can’t understand how anyone could have complaints about Min Woo. Min Woo likes that answer. That's what he’s saying. Chang Soo and Yun Soo can’t believe what a suck-up Manager is. He asks if Eun Ha has any complaints. She asks if she can really say it. He tells her, “Of course!” That's why they’re there. She tells him that he’s too tall. He’s surprised. Didn’t he see people only stare at him when they were walking together earlier? She tells him that his nose is too big too. He tells her that he understands. He scrunches down and says that he’ll try to get smaller. Manager’s mouth is hanging open. Yun Soo rolls her eyes in disgust at the impending cheese.

He tells her that he has complaints about her, too. Honestly, her smile is a bit vague. How should he put it? It makes people lose their minds. It’s okay for him because he’s her husband, but she shouldn't be smiling like that to others. She’ll cause accidents. Yun Soo gets disgusted at the cheese again. He tells Ji Sook that she should smile like that at him only. She says that she understands and will try. But it probably won’t be fixed with one try.

Before Min Woo can respond, his phone rings. When he sees who’s calling, he’s annoyed. He asks what she wants. Mi Yeon says that she must tell him who the person is next him. He lowers his voice and asks if she drank again. He tells her that they’ll talk when he gets back to Seoul. Right now they’re doing something important. He hangs up. Which I’m sure made Mi Yeon happy.

Min Woo sighs and asks where he left off. Yun Soo and Chang Soo are happily doing love shots. He sighs because he got distracted right in the middle of talking about something important. Ji Sook suggests that they go out. Min Woo is surprised – smile on his face – that she wants to do that. He acts dignified again and says that he will if she really wants to.

Mi Yeon is in the car. She’s determined to tell him everything.

Ji Sook and Min Woo are walking alongside a stream. He says that he’s worked with the other for over ten years, but this is the first time they are spending time like this. Ji Sook says that they should do this more often. This isn't difficult thing to do. He answers that he said they came to work. She smiles at him.

They are standing by a bridge made of rocks. Min Woo says that the truth is, he asked her to come here because he has something he wants to discuss. He’s never told anyone. He never had anyone to tell. He wants to tell her. He looks out at the water and it’s hard for him to say it. Ji Sook patiently waits. He says that because of him... Oma died. He’s saying that he killed her.

Flashback, Oma running. The necklace falls off. Min Woo stops to get it. When he starts to run again, he trips and falls into the river. Oma jumps in after him. She pushes him to the surface and drowns.

Tears welling up in his eyes, Min Woo says that if he only hadn’t have stopped to pick up Oma’s necklace. He sighs and says that that water someday will swallow him whole. It will chase him and torment him wherever he goes. He won't ever be able to reach the end. They look at the stones.

Ji Sook sighs and then smiles. She walks down to the edge of the bridge. She says that she is confident about reaching the end. Why don’t they just take one step for now. So what if they can't reach the end? So what if it takes a long time? The important thing is that they are going together. She holds out her hand to him and says that one step will do. Just one step. He forces himself to walk over to her. She helps him step out onto the rock she’s standing on. He does it, but it’s obvious that he’s very afraid.

She smiles at him and says that they should take one more step. They don't have to reach the end. Just take one more step. He says her name, afraid. She tells him that he doesn’t have to be afraid. She’s there next to him. She is holding his hand tightly like this. They take another step and almost fall over, but they don’t. Min Woo is fighting not to have a panic attack.

Once his breathing has calmed a bit, she tells him to go first. Hold her hand and walk ahead of her. He shakes his head and says that he doesn't think he can do it. She tells him that he can do it. She knows he can. He exhales to prepare himself and takes that step.

♬ Please help me♬
♬ Only you can rescue me♬

Without prompting, he takes another one. And I’m getting a little misty.

♬ You are pushing me farther and farther away♬

Another step.

♬ Where are you going?♬

And another.

♬ I love you.♬

♬ I love only you♬

Soon, it doesn’t become hard at all, as they cross the bridge together.

♬ I can't bear it for even a single day, ♬

By the end, it’s like they’re just out on a stroll, not doing something momentous.

♬ Not even for a single day.♬

Seok Hoon returns to their room and finds the pieces of Ji Sook’s picture.

Ji Sook and Min Woo are still walking. She asks him if he knows that he was awesome earlier? She says that she was afraid of standing on the stepping stones too. But she was suddenly encouraged when he held her hand. He smiles slightly. Since Min Woo never really smiles widely at all. And this is where you hold her hand again. He says that, indeed, a person needs another person. Not medication but the necessity of another person. He tells her thank you. She tells him that she’s thankful, too. Without him, she could never have come this far.

He stops and looks at her. He reaches in pulls out their marriage contract. He says that he wants to revise it again. He tells her that all the terms on the contract are now gone. He rips it up and throws it in the air. He asks her to please be his real wife, Seo Eun Ha-shi. And Ji Sook doesn’t look happy. Probably because she knows that her real name is Byeon Ji Sook and not Seo Eun Ha.

Mi Yeon arrives and begins to walk toward them. She ignores Seok Hoon’s call.

No answer as the episode ends.

Thoughts

I want to start out by saying I love Chang Soo. The guy is great. So loyal to his boss and Min Woo’s biggest fan (outside of Ji Sook, of course). I hope that they do give him a little romance with Yun Soo. She deserves a guy, since Chul seems clueless. And Chang Soo is a nice guy.

I loved all of Min Woo’s goofiness this episode. He truly is a dork. He just happens to put the article about her in the copier so everyone can see it. He goes shopping for his wife and buys everything because she’ll look amazing in it. Then he tears up the receipt so she can’t take them back. He ‘casually’ rewrites the terms of their marriage contract to allow for skinship and sleeping in the same bed and then practically runs so they can start now. He makes Chang Soo go so that he has to drive them to the retreat. He just has to buy her sunglasses and, what do you know, his match. He shoves off with his cooking and then it’s really bad. And thinking about his marriage proposal – he’ll just give her that look that he does so well. If he says so himself. Heh.

I do have to say that his proposal was awesome. Simple, understated, heartfelt. “Be my real wife.” So awesome. (Where is my Min Woo?)

I love that both of them are going all in, even if Ji Sook still is holding back a bit. She’s already told him that she’ll always be by his side and that he's her best birthday present. This episode, she’s trying to be a great executive to please Dad and being there to help him overcome an obstacle he never thought he would defeat. That part was truly awesome, because it showed how they are trusting and relying on each other. On his part, he rewrote the contract and then ripped it up, and he shared something with her that he’d never shared with anyone. If that’s not trust, then I don’t know what is. Plus, he trusted that she would be there and help him to overcome his greatest fear.

I’m a little worried what Ji Sook’s lack of smile at the proposal means. Is she going to say yes? Earlier that day, she got pensive, because she knows she’s a fraud. Is she going to say no and then not tell him why she’s really saying no? And why should she say no? She just needs to tell him who she really is. I mean, he just proved that he trusts her in spite of his fears. That kind of trust and love isn’t going to be shattered by finding out that you’ve been lying about your name. Especially when you explain that it was either that or death for you and your family.

And, apparently, Mi Yeon has arrived to tell Min Woo the truth before Ji Sook can. It’s interesting how this episode seems to flip the villain. Mi Yeon is determined and focused on destroying Ji Sook and Seok Hoon is lost and drifting. We got to see some genuine emotion out of both of them, especially him, as he wept over his lost love. I am a bit confused by her determination to hate Ji Sook, though. It’s not like Seok Hoon’s in love with Ji Sook, so she’s not competing with her. But she’s starting to really be calculating and devious – like setting up the training session so that Min Woo can hear how his wife had a doppelganger. Just as Seok Hoon loses focus, she finds her. And I said that she would lose it if she lost the baby, and she has. She’s doing a lot of things out of grief, and it’s a grief that’s been building over years of not really being loved by the man she’s in love with.
