Mask Episode 16 Recap

Episode begins with Min Woo reacting to Ji Sook’s announcement that she’s giving away half of her shares for a charitable foundation. Min Woo’s blinking tell me that his heart finally beat his head. Seok Hoon sighs. The light flares and Min Woo saves Ji Sook’s life. Why are people screaming? Why do people do that over something like this? Seok Hoon stands, livid that the light fell NOT on his order. Mi Yeon stands, too, horrified because that could have been Min Woo. Min Woo and Ji Sook look at the light and she asks if he’s okay.

They return home. Stepmom bemoans such an accident happening at the event. Dad asks if Eun Ha was shocked. She replies that she was. If Min Woo didn't save her, it would have been a big problem. Dad checks that Min Woo is okay. He is. Dad snaps at Seok Hoon for the accident. He should have paid more attention to make sure everything was set properly! Seok Hoon says that he’s going to investigate and find out who is responsible. He’s already taken measures so the story of this incident doesn't leak out. Dad nods and he and Stepmom go up to bed – but not before Stepmom orders a sedative.

Back in their room, Min Woo asks how it happened. How much does she know? She replies that she said that he is in danger. He asks from who. Perhaps, Seok Hoon? Ji Sook says that she’s not sure of that, because she can't prove it. They look at each other. At least he can look at her now, be in the same room with her now. She says that even though this might sound shameless, she must say this to him. She says his name and asks him to trust her. He laughs at that one and replies, “I to Seo–” He stops himself because that’s not her name. A twitch of his jaw because the wound is still fresh.

Min Woo asks why he has to trust her? She replies that it’s so she can tell him this. It isn't something she’d say suddenly. She thought a lot and prepared a lot. He asks what it is that she wants to say. She tells him they should… She pauses because it’s hard for her to get the sentence out. She sighs and finishes it: they should get divorced. Arg! And I thought that they were finally going to start working together. Min Woo barely registers a reaction on his face – but it’s like she just slapped him, the twitching his eyes just did. She tells him that they should just go up to here. Min Woo’s face says that he’s not happy at all.

Back in their room, Mi Yeon asks Seok Hoon if that accident really was an accident. Is she saying that someone planned it? Mi Yeon replies that she does think that someone did it on purpose. He asks who and she tells him that he should tell her, after all, didn't he say he would investigate it? He replies that he will. She adds that she needs to know clearly whether that person is targeting Ji Sook or Min Woo. If he’s targeting Min Woo, she won't stay still. She won't ever forgive him. There’s a shot over his bow. Seok Hoon knows it, too.

Min Woo heads to the house bar – man, he needs to stop drinking. He whispers that she asked for a divorce. Back in their room, Ji Sook looks at their wedding picture and starts to cry.

They are now out on a street. They smile when they see each other and start to walk toward each other. A box truck drives toward them in the distance. As they almost reach each other, a honking horn and Min Woo gets slammed. I mean, they used a stunt guy to film that one. It was horrible to watch. Ji Sook rushes over to him but he’s not moving. Ji Sook walks up and says that didn't he say there won't be any use in the end? Divorce? Even if she leaves after getting a divorce, Choi Min Woo will die in the end. Because he will make that happen.

Ji Sook shakes herself awake and Min Woo is not in the room.

[Episode 16 – The Heart of a Puppet]

Press conference regarding her new foundation. Reporter asks how much she’s planning on donating. She says that she’s planning to donate up to 90% of her shares. Seok Hoon has snuck in the back. She adds that there is also someone else who would do the same thing as she did:Lawyer Min Seok Hoon. Well, he did say at one time that this is what he wanted to do with the money. He’s shocked. She clarifies that he also said that he would donate the 50% of his SJ Group shares, right? The reporters swarm around Seok Hoon and he’s forced to smile.

Later they talk. She tells him that he tried to kill Min Woo, right? He asks why she thinks so. She says that she knows all about his plan. If Min Woo dies, his inheritance will passed over to her. She says that he was planning to take that money regardless. He asks if this is what she came up with, donating the shares she has? Ji Sook says that it’s something she wanted to do for a while, to help people like her. Seok Hoon replies that just because you help people like you, the world won't change. That money should be spent on more valuable places. That is *not* what he said before.

Ji Sook replies that he’s wrong. The world changes if someone like him changes the way he thinks. It’s like she’s channeling Eun Ha right now. She tells him to please change the way he thinks. Let's change the world together. Seok Hoon gets a call from Dad. He tells her that she should change the way she thinks. Because if she doesn't, she is going to keep on having a hard time.

Seok Hoon has sent Dad another blackmail letter, demanding that he transfer 60% of his shares to Choi Min Woo immediately. If he doesn't keep his promise this time, Blackmailer will show everyone the video that proves that Mi Yeon is a murderer. This is Dad’s last chance. Seok Hoon appears and Dad hides the note. Dad orders him to transfer the shares. Seok Hoon’s mouth twitches in a smile. He says that he’ll figure out how to do it and avoid the inheritance tax. Ah, maybe this will be what brings Seok Hoon down. Dad was on the line for shady business practices. Maybe Seok Hoon’s the one being shady.

Loan Shark and Mi Yeon have Seok Hoon’s man in a warehouse somewhere. He pleads that he really doesn't know anything. They bring out the clubs and he pleads that he really doesn't know anything. They’re about to hit A/V Guy when Mi Yeon stops them. Must they use violence? She seems bothered. Loan Shark asks if they shouldn’t. Mi Yeon tells them to us it f necessary. She walks away as they start to beat A/V Guy with the clubs. Ouch!

Manager is having a testy conversation with his wife. He tells her to go ahead and stamp the seal. He can’t live like this any longer. He hangs up. Min Woo asks if Manager is okay. Of course he is. It’s just what they always say during their married couple fights. Is separating that easy? There are so many days between them. Min Woo nods. He understands.

Ji Sook enters and says that she came to hear what he has to say. He left like that yesterday without saying a word. Min Woo looks a little irritated that she said that in front of everyone. He tells her to follow him. They head into his office. They sit and he asks what her reason is for wanting a divorce. She says that it’s so he can live. He asks what she means by that and she doesn’t answer. Why wouldn’t you just tell him?! The worst is over. And he’s still talking to you and acting like he doesn’t want a divorce, even though he’s still mad.

Min Woo sighs. Is she saying that she wants to run away? She tells him to think whatever he wishes. He frowns and says that he will. She asks about the divorce and he says ‘no.’ And then, because he doesn’t want to say the truth… Min Woo says that if he divorces Seo Eun Ha, his position at the house will diminish and becoming a successor at the company will also be difficult. He needs Seo Eun Ha. She says his name and as an answer, he says that he needs Seo Eun Ha, not her. She answers that she’s not Seo Eun Ha. He knows that, too. He looks away from her.

Ji Sook meets with Ji Hyuk. He asks if something happened? She answers that nothing happened. Ji Hyuk says that she has a face that says something happened. She tells him that she wants to just get a divorce. It just turned out like that. He asks if that means she’s coming back. She shakes her head no. There are still things she has to do. Ji Hyuk asks why she wants a divorce then. Is Min Woo behaving badly? Should he teach Min Woo a lesson? She answers that Min Woo is a good person. That's why she wants a divorce.

Ji Hyuk tells her that she’s making no sense. The voice of reason! Leaving Min Woo in the dark is what will get him hurt. Ji Hyuk says that dissatisfaction is why someone wants a divorce. Ji Sook nods and says that he’s right. It’s not that there's no complaint. She thinks of their retreat. He’s just tall for nothing. He can't cook. I loved this scene. He can't sing. And this one. Ji Sook declares that there's nothing that pleases her about him. She looks at the photo album and cries.

Seok Hoon is at the shooting range again. He has his mojo back. He thinks of his mother’s funeral. Dad is there. As he sits by his father’s bedside, as Abeoji is in a coma, Seok Hoon looks at a picture of Dad. Wow. I was wondering if it was something like that, related to Abeoji’s accident. Still doesn’t explain *how* but at least it gives us a why of why Seok Hoon fixated on Dad and Min Woo. He thinks of Dad’s smiling face and shoots at the target.

Ji Sook is looking at the smiling portrait of Seok Hoon and thinks of her nightmare of Min Woo being mowed down by a truck. She meets with Seok Hoon and asks him if he even loved Seo Eun Ha. He replies that he already told her… those words should not come out of her mouth. Ji Sook tells him that if he really loved her, he wouldn't have let her die feeling alone. Seok Hoon responds that he clearly told her to stop. Ji Sook says that he didn't love Seo Eun Ha; he only used her. He screams at her to stop it! He grabs her shoulder. She tells him to acknowledge that all he did was use the pitiful Seo Eun Ha. She smacks his arm away.

Ji Sook declares that she’s going to use him, too, since he never truly loved Seo Eun Ha. And she will drive him away from this house, since the place he needs to be isn't here, but a prison. He swallows heavily – and I think what she said to him got to him.

Family meal. No one is talking to Stepmom comments on how nicely the meat is cooked. Doesn't Dad think so? He doesn’t look up from his plate, let alone answer. She asks Ji Sook what the matter is. The meat doesn't taste good? Ji Sook puts her silverware down. And the food looks so good. But I’m hungry, so there you go. She says that she has something she has to say. She announces that she is going to divorce Min Woo. Everyone looks at her, shocked.

Min Woo tells her that they should talk about this later, the two of them. She answers that even if they continue to talk about it, they’ll just repeat themselves, saying the same thing. She’s already made up her mind. Stepmom points out that the election is just around the corner. Ji Sook answers that she is going to stay in this house until the election is over, even after the divorce. And she’ll make sure it won't get out to the media either.

Mi Yeon says that she’s glad. They didn't suit each other anyway. Brat! Stepmom hisses at her to stop. Dad demands to know what the reason is that she is asking for a divorce suddenly? Did Min Woo do something wrong? Min Woo looks down. Like he’s thinking, ‘of course, Dad, you would think it was me.' She replies that it has nothing to do with Min Woo. Dad asks what’s making her do this then? Doesn’t she owe the family some explanation. Ji Sook looks directly at Seok Hoon – and just had to stop and laugh because she is bringing it! – and says that it’s because of him. Seok Hoon looks at her, shocked. Min Woo looks at him, surprised. Well, there’s your answer, Min Woo.

Dad shoots daggers at Seok Hoon, but he’s looking at Ji Sook. She declares that as long as Brother-in-law is in this house, she can't live there. Dad, Ji Sook and Seok Hoon adjourn to Dad’s study. She shows him the pictures of Eun Ha and Seok Hoon together. She is going there! Dad asks how they dare. Seok Hoon says that it happened a long time ago. Dad doesn't have to worry about it now. Ji Sook says that even though it happened long time ago, it wasn't something that didn't happen. How could they live together like this? She feels miserable whenever she sees Seok Hoon.

Dad addresses Son-in-law Min. He says that if things like this keep on happening to his daughter, he won't be able to accept him. Dad looks at Seok Hoon and tells him to get out. Wow, I don’t think Seok Hoon was expecting that reaction. I sure wasn’t. Seok Hoon bows and leaves the study. Ji Sook apologizes. She is really sorry for making this happen. Dad looks at her and asks her to tell him honestly. What is the reason for her bringing this up suddenly? Is it really because of Son-in-law Min or is it something else? Ji Sook says that it's the guilt over lying to Min Woo that tormented her. She was going to tell them at some point but now it seems like it is too late. Ji Sook says that she will stay there quietly until the election ends. She is asking him for a favor; please let her get a divorce. Dad sighs.

Stepmom is in talking with Mi Yeon, telling her to get a divorce right away. How could this happen? They hid their relationship from the family and lived together in this house! how could they meet in this house all this time without anyone knowing. Mi Yeon says that she is also going crazy now, so could Stepmom please stop it. Stepmom asks how she raised Mi Yeon! She should have opposed the marriage more. Other than being a lawyer, what does he have?

Stepmom declares that either Seok Hoon or Ji Sook has to leave. If they are together, they might be planning something. Mi Yeon yells at Stepmom to stop! Stepmom can’t believe that she’s not mad. By any chance did she know about their relationship all along? Mi Yeon nods. Stepmom asks since when. Mi Yeon answers that it was since before she got married. Wow. No wonder she's always been insecure. And wow, that you’re in love with so much that you choose to marry a guy who isn’t in love with you. Stepmom starts beating her and calling her an idiot! How could she marry knowing that?

Seok Hoon enters. Stepmom stops screaming at Mi Yeon. He bows to Stepmom and says that he doesn't have any excuses. Stepmom gets up and stands before him. And I am so scared that she is going to attack him right now. She asks if he wasn’t even scared. How long was he planning to hide this? Stepmom says that, honestly, she’s never liked Seok Hoon. Someone who doesn't even match their standards comes into this house and–

Mi Yeon protests and Stepmom yells at her to stay still! Stepmom says that if she wasn't a person of class, he would already be finished by her hands. Does he know how much she’s suppressing her scream? She tells him to not just stand there by say something. Seok Hoon says that it is something that has already happened. Now they aren't really in any relationship. Stepmom starts smashing things.

Dad is conferencing with Min Woo. A divorce is unacceptable. He orders Min Woo to tell Eun Ha that he can't! The most important thing they have to do now is to hide their dirty laundry. Dad declares that their deal with In-law Seo can't ever be ruined. Because that’s what’s most important. Min Woo agrees. She and he made a deal. Dad declares that if they get divorced, SJ Group can never be his. He knows this as well!

Dad says that Min Woo need to know when to give up something for the sake of important things. He orders Min Woo to give up a normal married life with Eun Ha. That way, he can get what he wants. Is that what he did to Oma? Sacrificed her for the sake of this ambition? You know Min Woo has to be thinking this.

Ji Sook sadly sits in their bedroom. Min Woo looks at her for a moment through the window in the door and then enters the room. She stands, but doesn’t face him. He asks if she had to go that far in order to get a divorce? She looks at him and says that she did. Because he’s not going to let her get divorced if she doesn't do this. He tells her to look him directly in the eyes. Does she really want it? She looks at him and says that she wants it. Because she’d rather you be alive and not hers than dead and hers. He nods and sighs and agrees. They should get divorced.

Min Woo says that that kind of thing, they should just do it now. Ji Sook says that she wants the date to be as soon as possible. The look on Min Woo’s face says that this is killing him, having to go along with it. He says that they should go down to the courthouse and do it immediately tomorrow. Ji Sook blinks because she didn’t think it would be that soon. She asks, “Tomorrow?” He responds by asking why… does she have an important appointment? I love sarcastic Min Woo! She shakes her head no and agrees to go tomorrow. His face says that he wishes she would have hesitated more.

Min Woo fidgets and says that now that he’s thinking about it, he has a meeting with foreign buyers and also an important presentation. It will be hard for the time being. Unfortunately it won’t be until next week until he’ll have time. She says his name and asks that he please meet a good person after she leaves. Ow, rip both our hearts out! And her own. The twitch in his jaw says that he can’t believe she’s saying that. He tells her that he understands. He will meet a good person and live happily and well. He tells her that in exchange, she needs to meet a bad person. Someone way worse than him. And Ji Sook’s heart looks like it will break.

Seok Hoon is cleaning up Stepmom’s mess. Mi Yeon tells him to explain why Sister-in-law did that. Tell her everything he knows. Seok Hoon sighs and says that he already said he doesn’t know. Why does she think he knows? She tells him, “Fine.” She will tell him, then, as much as she knows. She knows that Sister-in-law is a fake. She’s sure that he’s known that a long time before she did. He was in a relationship with Seo Eun Ha. There is no way that he wouldn't have known. Seok Hoon’s face says that he hates them not lying to each other.

Mi Yeon says that if it was revealed that Sister-in-law is fake, who would be in an awkward position? Sister-in-law, Seok Hoon, and herself. If Sister-in-law disappears, the two of them could have kept this secret. So did he try to kill Sister-in-law? He looks at her and asks, “What?”

Flashback to the abandoned warehouse. A/V Guy looks half dead, since they’ve beaten him into a bloody pulp. Loan Shark says that A/V Guy isn’t telling because he seems very scared of Min Seok Hoon that punk.

Back in the present, she says that the person who messed with the lighting said that Seok Hoon ordered him to do it. Isn't it so? In her head, she begs him to say that it isn’t. Tell her that he didn't order it. Tell her that it has nothing to do with him. Please. Seok Hoon sighs. Mi Yeon repeats her question. He goes and sits by her and says that everything she knew is not the truth. How could she have thought that he would try to kill a person? He tells her to keep doubting and investigating him and figure out whether he is a person who would do those things. She should find out for herself.

Min Woo and Ji Sook are at the courthouse. Love her shoes! Love them so much! They are really cute! It took me a minute to figure out who makes them: they’re Prada. Retail for $670 USD.

They pause before they go in. Min Woo starts up the steps first. His poor face. But he’s doing it because she wants him to. And he’s not going to make her stay when she wants to go. Clerk says that they have to take 4 weeks to think about the divorce and have to go get counseling from a professional. Min Woo’s face twitches.

At the counselor’s office, the counselor asks what their reason is for the divorce. Ji Sook says that it’s different personalities. Min Woo agrees. Different personalities. Counselor wants more specifics. What kind of personality differences are they talking about? Ji Sook says that this person (Min Woo) is too much of a neat freak. I laugh. Because it’s true and he knows it. If something is a little bit off, it bothers him. He's so sensitive, she can't handle it. Min Woo says that this person (Ji Sook) has too many secrets and won’t even tell what they are. Not that he’s curious anyway.

Ji Sook shoots him a look, like she can’t believe he went there. She adds that when this person gets mad, he throws things. He yells if something doesn't go his way. Min Woo’s lips purse because he’s starting to get mad. Ji Sook says that he even shoved her into a table once. Min Woo asks Counselor if a married couple shouldn't be open with each other? She's never even opened up, so how is he supposed to know whether she is black or white on the inside? Is he not right? Counselor says that it seems that they both are emotional and annoyed with each other, so why don't they go into individual counseling?

In her individual session, Ji Sook says that that person is always organized and focused on cleanliness. Counselor asks if it was it hard on her marriage life. Ji Sook says that it wasn’t. Because he always organized things and cleaned, it was nice. Counselor says that she thought Min Woo threw things and yelled. Ji Sook says that that’s why she wanted to be by his side. To figure out why he acted that way and protect him by his side. She says that that person also has a deep soul. He always trusted her, loved her, and protected her.

In his session, Min Woo says that because she doesn't tell him what she's feeling, he doesn't know how much she is hurting or how sad she is. That's why he wanted to be by her side. He wanted to know how hard it must have been on her, how hurt she must have been. He wanted to find out. Otherwise, he couldn’t sleep.

Counselor tells Ji Sook to think about the memories where she was the most happy with her husband.

She thinks of them dancing together. Applying sunscreen on his neck and drawing a heart.

♬  Whether we broke up ♬
♬ Those times are the same as lies♬

Him teaching her the violin.

♬ It can't be. It can't be is what I'm telling myself.♬

She asks if she has to talk about only one memory.

Counselor asks Min Woo to tell her the time when Ji Sook was the prettiest. He says, says an “Aigoo” and declares that that’s a hard question. The time she was prettiest...

He thinks of her playing piano at her birthday party.

♬ Fly toward me as the wind blows♬

The retreat where they ended up on the floor and he kissed her forehead.

♬ For just a single day more, just one ♬

He doesn’t answer the question. Instead he asks until when do they have to do this? That’s telling in and of itself.

 ♬ Live as we were♬

They’re both back with Counselor. Ji Sook declares that Min Woo is right. Nothing is getting better. Counselor asks if they *really* want to get a divorce.

♬ Even if I try to bury my face,♬

They declare that they do.

♬  the tears will well up♬

They leave Counselor’s office.

♬ I fear the time is running out♬

Min Woo says that they should go their own separate ways.

♬ I fear the time is running out♬

Ji Sook agrees. Min Woo’s face says that he’s not happy.

♬ I'm afraid it really will be the end♬

They walk away from each other.

Angel-in-us Coffee

Ji Sook is meeting with the manager. He says that the menu she developed has been successful at the other branches. The response has been explosive. Yun Soo suggests that they have a celebratory party. Should they call the director? Ji Sook stops smiling and looks sad.

Min Woo is eating alone. He just happens to end up at a restaurant where Chang Soo and Yun Soo are out on a date. They are within ear- and eyeshot. They feed each other meat. She asks how she looks. He says very pretty. She flashes some hardcore aegyo. Min Woo glares at them. Jealous. Chang Soo spots the boss. They quickly run, but not before Yun Soo calls Chang Soo ‘honey.’ Min Woo tosses down his silverware, thoroughly annoyed.

Seok Hoon reports to Dad that 60 % of his shares has been transferred to Min Woo. Dad asks Seok Hoon if he’s not curious. Seok Hoon says that he’s not, because whatever Dad asks him to do, he complies without asking. Dad agrees. That's the reason why he came into this house. Dad asks Seok Hoon what he would do if Dad asked him to divorce Mi Yeon. Would he follow along without asking? Seok Hoon protest that all this time, more than anyone else, he ahs worked hard for the company. Dad says there are other people who can do that. He needs someone who cherishes and loves Mi Yeon sincerely.

Chang Soo and Yun Soo are out again. She’s suggested something. He doesn’t like it, but checks himself and asks how she can you think of such a good thought? Chang Soo says that he thought he would really be choked to death because of the Director. Yun Soo says that it’s so sad to see her Chang Soo going through hard times. He nods. Yun Soo sighs sadly and says that her madam is also going through hard times. She can’t watch. He says that they are creating a place where a married couple who are fighting can reconcile. He tells her – calling her Noona – that she deserves to receive a lot of love. She answers that Chang Soo deserves to receive a lot of cuteness. And the aegyo is turning my stomach!

Ji Sook and Min Woo arrive. ‘Por una Cabeza’ by Carlos Gardel plays in the background (the tango song from ‘True Lies.’)

Min Woo asks why Chang Soo is doing this. Chang Soo says that Min Woo should say, “Why are you?” Instead he should ask how they thought of such a praiseworthy thought. He’s got a big smile on his face. So does Yun Soo. Yun Soo says that they’ll leave the pair alone and drags Chang Soo away. To go aegyo some more.

Ji Sook and Min Woo don’t look at each other. She says that it would be troublesome to eat together, right? He ask if… there is a reason for them to avoid each other. It isn't like they are enemies so that they would feel uncomfortable. She agrees to eat together. They don't have to purposely avoid each other. They sit down and neither looks happy.

Server announces that the recommended menu today is the Couple Course. She says that they match each other well. It would be good to select the Couple Course. Annoyed, Min Woo repeats it: Look good together? Do they? Because he definitely agrees with that but is having to disagree because of Ji Sook’s stubbornness. She says that they’ll take the Couple Course. She says that the steak should be medium. Min Woo declares that he wants it well done. She says that he usually eats it medium. He declares that he will eat it well done. Fully cooked. His annoyance comes through on that last part. She almost sadly says that he should do that then.

Min Woo is having to really saw his steak, since it’s well done. He says that her face seems to look better. Is it because she doesn't see him as much? She answers that his face also got better. Is that because he sleeps well at night? It's probably better that she’s not around him. He nods and says that he guesses so. He has to really chew his piece of steak. Ji Sook starts to say that if he eats it like that, he’ll get indigestion. She stops but then finishes, because they’re not supposed to mean anything to each other. She tells him that if he gets indigestion, he should go ask anyone to prick his finger. His mouth still full of that piece of steak, he says that he will.

He tells her to go to anyone else and cry if she’s sad. She sadly says that she will. He responds by saying that it’s troublesome to cry to just anyone... She should try holding it in until she is better. Without showing it. She tells him to do the same. If he gets indigestion, then just endure it, without asking anyone to prick his finger. He nods and says that he will. Sawing at his steak he says that they should try holding it in. She agrees that they will be able to do well. Min Woo chews his well-done meat. Even though that last bite was pink inside.

Mi Yeon is cleaning her shotgun. When Seok Hoon asks, she says that she heard they will go hunting tomorrow as part of their meeting. So, she’s going to follow him. He asks why she’s planning on that. She answers that she’s only doing what he told her to: keep doubting and investigating him? So she will follow him and see what he does one by one. As he ordered her to. He says that they should go together. He picks up a rifle and says that if he’s with her, even if there is an accident, people won't suspect him. ‘Accident’ concerns her. He says, as he lines up his shot in the rifle’s eye piece, that he’s just saying "if" because accidents can happen any time. What is he planning?

Ji Sook and Min Woo return to their bedroom. He tells her to take the sofa, the bed and the furniture in this room when she leaves. He says that ff they get a divorce, they have to divide assets. In any case, it isn't to his liking. Because they have too many memories of her on them. So, please take them with her. She says that she doesn't want to. He can keep them or throw them away. He looks at her and asks why she would throw those away? It's wasteful. And they are arguing over the furniture… not who gets to keep it, like normal divorcing couples, but who has to take it.

He tells her to also take out her TV, audio equipment, computer, mouse, and remote control, everything. Getting rid of it all turned out well because the room is small to begin with. Ji Sook looks at the plant he gave her on her birthday, the one they were supposed to raise together. As he looks at the plant, he thinks of how she smiled and said that her best gift was him. She grabs the plant and says that she’ll take it. He says that she can’t. Didn't he give her this? He will raise it. He grabs the pot out of her hand. She says that he’s busy anyway. She will take it, water it and raise it well. She grabs it again. He declares that he said he would raise it. He grabs it and it slides from their grip and crashes on the floor. Min Woo exhales, frustrated. Ji Sook sadly starts to pick the pieces up. Min Woo sighs and leaves.

Minion has hired a guy to shoot Min Woo. The plan is for Hunter to turn himself in right away. The judge will announce that Hunter’s sentence will be suspended as an involuntary manslaughter so he won't have to worry about going to prison.

Min Woo is preparing his gun. Mi Yeon walks right in. He sighs, annoyed. He tells her to knock first, please, and then come in. She tells him not to go. He asks why not. She says that it’s just because. She doesn't know why but she just doesn't have a good feeling about it. He asks if that’s the only reason. He heard she was going as well. She replies that if he doesn’t go, she won’t. He asks what kind of logic that is. And if either she or Ji Sook would just tell him that Seok Hoon wants to kill him, he’d understand a lot more.

Min Woo says that the hunting trip is an opportunity to get closer to important government officials and she’s telling him not to go? Just because she doesn't have a good feeling about it? She begs him to listen to her. He’s done with his gun. He stands and looks at her. Noona, do you know something? He asks for an explanation with more details. Then he won't go. She says that she doesn’t have any more details. She just doesn't have a good feeling about it.

He asks if this is all motivated by him getting those shares from Dad. Is she feeling nervous because he might inherit the company? She protests that it isn't like that. Min Woo says that he’s going, then. If he can't go because he’s worried, he won't be able to go anywhere ever. Good point.

Ji Sook has just found out that Min Woo is going hunting with Seok Hoon and Mi Yeon. A man enters and confirms that 60% of Dad’s shares were transferred to Min Woo. She knows what’s coming. Seok Hoon calls her. He says that he heard that she is busy because she’s running her charity. She asks why he called. He replies that he sent an angel like her a small gift. He says that it will arrive soon. Don't be too happy. She asks what he’s planning now?

And the answer comes in the form of a Prosecutor there to arrest her arrest on charges of embezzlement and misappropriation of funds. On the phone, Seok Hoon declares that it’s not her money. It’s Seo Eun Ha's. Don't donate that money to a worthless charity. He tells her that the charity enterprise she created will soon become nothing. That’s a low blow.

When Seok Hoon sees Min Woo, he acts surprised that he’s going hunting. Min Woo replies that since he said it like that, he doesn't really want to go. Should he not go? Seok Hoon tells him that if he’s scared he shouldn’t go. They’re real bullets, after all. It would be a problem if Min Woo got hurt. Min Woo says that even though he doesn't want to go, he should go. He can't just live with only doing the things that he wants to do. He walks off.

Mi Yeon says that she’s curious about what Seok Hoon is planning on catching with that bullet. He smiles and asks what there is to be curious about. He’s going to catch animals. And we all know that he considers Dad’s whole family a bunch of animals, rather than people.

Prosecutor tells Ji Sook that he has evidence that proves that she created a fake charity enterprise to embezzle the company to build a slush fund. She answers that she is happy to get investigated later. Right now her husband is in danger. He nods and says that he’s sending police to the hunting area. She just needs to cooperate with the investigation first. Does she admit to the embezzlement of the company money? She asks if she can make one phone call. They leave her to do that.

Outside, Assistant Prosecutor asks if he should send the police to the hunting area? Prosecutor looks at him and asks if he’s crazy? He tells A.P. to wait there and walks away to make a phone call. His call is with Seok Hoon. He tells Prosecutor to detain Ji Sook until this thing ends. Cold blooded. And that the Prosecutor is going along with it. Hopefully, A.P. will listen to reason.

Their hunting partners give Seok Hoon a hard time for working when they’re supposed to be hunting. They add that he better make all his calls here, because farther into the forest, there won’t be a cell signal. Just as Seok Hoon planned it. The group starts to head in. Mi Yeon grabs Min Woo’s arm and tells him that they should leave, even now. He asks why they should. She says that their handphones won’t work later. He sighs, annoyed, and ignores her.

Ji Sook is pounding on the door, asking someone to open the door.

The group splits up. Mi Yeon reluctantly lets Min Woo go off by himself. Min Woo doesn’t notice Hunter, who checks his picture just to make sure that that’s his target.

Prosecutor and A.P. notice that Ji Sook isn’t fighting with the door anymore. They go in and she’s lying on the floor, unconscious.

Min Woo is the only one hunting by himself. And not hunting with those government officials that were his whole for taking the trip. Mi Yeon is getting more and more nervous.

They call an ambulance for Ji Sook, but she jumps up, steals a car and drives off. The police chase her. She tells Min Woo to hang on a little longer.

Hunter has Min Woo in his sights.

Ji Sook arrives in the woods and goes running looking for Min Woo.

Hunter hears the sirens and doesn’t shoot Min Woo.

Ji Sook runs, hunting for Min Woo, calling his name.

Min Woo stops because he thought he heard something.

Ji Sook comes across Mi Yeon in the woods. She asks Mi Yeon where Min Woo is. Is he okay? Mi Yeon points her rifle at Ji Sook’s head. Mi Yeon wants an answer. Why did she come into their house and make a mess? As long as she doesn't exist, everything will be finished. Everything can be resolved. Ji Sook says that right now Min Woo is in danger. She says, “please.” Mi Yeon almost pulls the trigger but doesn’t.

Seok Hoon has Min Woo in his sights. He prepares to shoot to kill. As he takes his shot, Ji Sook pulls Min Woo out of the way. Min Woo gets shot in the arm and is knocked unconscious. Mi Yeon hears the shot and is alarmed. Prosecutor and cops arrive to find Ji Sook holding her hand over a bleeding Min Woo. So she wasn’t crazy about her husband being in danger. Seok Hoon sees them and leaves, since he won’t be able to shoot again.

Fade to black.

Open with Min Woo in a hospital bed. Mi Yeon is sitting at his side. Seok Hoon looks like he's getting a root canal as he stands there. Dad and Stepmom are there, too. Where’s Ji Sook? Softly, Mi Yeon asks if Min Woo is okay. Stepmom says that Min Woo will be okay. He will get better soon because the bullet just grazed him. Min Woo looks at his arm. Seok Hoon says that Hunter turned himself in, so police are investigating now. They will find out what happened soon. Dad wants to know why this kind of thing keeps happening?

Min Woo asks who brought him here? Is he trying to figure out if he saw Ji Sook in the woods? Stepmom says that Mi Yeon brought him; it would have been a big problem if not for Mi Yeon. Ji Sook waits out in the hall and hearing Min Woo awake, she leaves. Mi Yeon won’t let go of Min Woo’s hand. She starts to cry. He tells his Noona that he’s okay. He just got hurt superficially. She thinks about what she saw in the woods: Ji Sook saving Min Woo. Min Woo unconscious and Seok Hoon looking like he just tried to kill her brother. Crying she tells him that she’s sorry. She’s really sorry.

Min Woo and Ji Sook arrive at the courthouse again. They stop at the bottom of the steps, again. She asks if he’s okay. He says that he’s doing okay. It's a good thing because she doesn’t seem too disturbed. She replies that if they don't divorce, things like this will keep on happening. He says that – in that case – they should go and get a divorce. They should declare it quickly.

He starts to climb the steps. She doesn’t. She says his name and asks him to do her just one favor. Please look at her eyes. He asks why she wants to do that suddenly. A bit annoyed – and I think because he knows he’ll see himself in them and he hates that he’s losing that. She replies that they don't know if it might be the last time. Okay?

He turns around and looks at her. Both of them are a little sad. After a moment, she smiles and sighs. She tells him that it’s all good now. Now she thinks she can get rid of her feelings well. It is a relief that they are getting a divorce like this. And I am feeling a little emotional. They can’t get divorced! She starts to climbs the steps. He stands there and watches her.

As she reaches the top of the steps, he calls her name. Her real name: Byeon Ji Sook. She stops and looks at him. He walks up to her, two steps at a time. He stands beside her and sighs. And I am getting excited. I hope he’s doing what I think he’s doing. He tells her to listen to what he’s going to say now carefully. Regardless of who she is or whether he dies just because she’s by his side, he won't care anymore now. It will be okay as long as she is Byeon Ji Sook who is in front of him. He tells her to please not leave in order to save him. Byeon Ji Sook disappearing in front of him is killing him as well. Oh, my gosh! That was so awesome!

Flustered, she asks what he’s saying? She doesn’t understand a thing. She asks him to say it once more, slowly, so she can understand. He declares that he will tell her again, once more, so listen carefully. “Sarang hamnida. I love you, Byeon Ji Sook-shi.” Eee! She just looks at him. He asks how she could never tell him the truth that she didn't want a divorce? After a moment, she says that he didn't say it either. He replies, “Aren't I saying it now?” And then he kisses her, in front of God and everyone, on the steps of the courthouse. And it’s a good kiss, too. One where he pauses slightly before kissing her and where they pull each other closer as they kiss.

Thoughts

I am basking in the moment of love with a stupid, sappy grin on my face. I love them both.

Okay… now back to my reaction to the episode.

Oh, the kiss, though.

Had to watch it again. Such a good moment. But that’s the thing about this show. There are so many good moments like this! It kills me.

There was a lot that happened in this episode and I am *really* grateful that Min Woo and Ji Sook apart, on the verge of divorce and losing each other forever, only lasted one episode. It was painful! But even when they were apart, they were adorable. Their time at the counselor’s office was awesome. He’s complaining that she doesn’t tell him everything… but he’s upset because it means that he can’t be there for her. And she’s talking about how much of a neat freak he is, but then says that she likes it because he takes care of her. And then during their ‘non-enemy’ dinner, with Min Woo forcing himself to eat well-done steak because he doesn’t want her to know how he likes to eat his steak. And talking about how well the other looks now that they’re not around. She worries about his indigestion and he worries that she’s sad some place.

At least Min Woo figured it out after he almost died why Ji Sook was actually divorcing him… not because she doesn’t love him, but because she does. He already figured out that she wasn’t with him because of the money, since she was donating over 50% of her stocks to a charity. And her exposure of Seok Hoon and Eun Ha’s affair means that Seok Hoon’s intentions are exposed, too. So, now it was just up to his head to figure out what his heart already knew, that she loves him. His confession was awesome. I don’t care if I end up dead, being away from you is killing me, too. So awesome. And I like that he yelled at her for *not* telling him why she wanted the divorce. I just love them so much.

This episode was momentous not just for Ji Sook and Min Woo, but also for Mi Yeon. As much as she has gone over to the dark side the last couple of episodes, I think this is the episode where she finally woke up to how destructive her relationship with Seok Hoon is and how he’s not the man she was hoping he would be. It’s nice to see that Noona is back rather than psycho Mi Yeon, and she is ripping her own guts out for not stopping Seok Hoon before he hurt her dongsaeng. One thing that I appreciate about her character is that Min Woo is her little brother. Period. It doesn’t matter if they had different mothers, he’s still her brother and she loves him as such. I can relate to that.

I really wonder what Mi Yeon’s going to do with what she’s seen. And if she’s going to team up with Ji Sook now that I think she realizes that Ji Sook existing is not the problem. All this time, her hatred towards Ji Sook has been because she blames Ji Sook for the problem, because she can’t face blaming Seok Hoon. But finally, in the woods, she realized that if there was no Ji Sook, Min Woo would be dead. And everything that Ji Sook has done was to keep her brother alive. Ji Sook isn’t the enemy. Unfortunately, the man she loves is.

It’s crazy that Mi Yeon has known about Seok Hoon and Eun Ha all this time and yet still married him. That’s some sad, tragic love. How humiliating and disheartening. Knowing that it’s this bad – that she knew going into the marriage that he wasn’t hers instead of finding out about it after the fact – that makes me feel some sympathy for her. She truly is what Eun Ha wrote in her journal. Love paralyzes reason. Love paralyzes the soul. How true those words were for both the women that loved Seok Hoon.

I’m wondering what Seok Hoon is going to do now, because events increasingly are off plan. And Ji Sook really whaled on him emotionally by telling him that he just used Eun Ha and never loved her. That’s really going to eat at him and his guilt. It makes me wonder how long before he goes off the rails completely, especially since Ji Sook outed his affair with Eun Ha. The prospect of his revenge – and hooray that we finally have some clue as to why he fixated on Dad and Min Woo – is becoming increasingly bleak and for Seok Hoon, right now, revenge is everything.
