Warm and Cozy Episode 7 Recap

Jung Joo sits heavily onto her bed, after doing one of the hardest things she’s ever had to do: tell Gun Woo to leave. She sighs. There’s a clunk of paper sacks and Gun Woo, because he’s Gun Woo, pushes open her curtain and enters her space. He plops the bags on the ground as he asks, “You're telling me to leave? What are you saying?” To leave. She stand up and looks straight ahead, instead of looking at him. She replies that it’s exactly as it sounds. Get out of her restaurant. She glances at him and then looks ahead again. He has a credit card now, doesn't he?

Gun Woo protests – because he *doesn’t* want to leave the one person who likes him for just him – Where would he go? He already reached his credit card limit for the month. She answers that his limit will soon replenish itself. He protests that she was holding onto him earlier because she couldn't run the restaurant alone with just Poong San. She answers that she did, but Poong San was doing a good job. Gun Woo sighs and shakes his head in disbelief as she adds that from now on, she and Poong San can make it work without him. His poor eyes look so sad. Even as he’s blustering, he’s freaking out. Should have taken her shopping, dude, rather than Dead Face Harpy.

Gun Woo asks if she means that. She turns to face him and says that he opened up this restaurant to appease a girl in the first place. He looks away because it’s painfully, embarrassingly true. Now that they’ve been to Seoul together, isn't it a done deal? Or has she not fallen for him even after working so hard to be her escort? That part stings as it hits a little too close to home. Gun Woo retaliates by saying that he wouldn't have liked her if she was the type to fall for him that easily. Jab at Jung Joo. She's really pretty and attractive. She's different from someone he knows who's all over him just for dukbokki! Jung Joo is appropriately insulted at his implication.

Jung Joo answers, “Look at you working so hard in liking such an amazing girl!” I love how she drags out the last part of the sentence to stress her sarcasm! You, go, Jung Joo! He reached his credit card limit, so how is he going to seduce Dead Face Harpy now? Gun Woo shoots back that it’s not like he’s going to seduce Jung Joo, so why do she need to know? She yells at him, okay! They should give it a rest! What more could she possibly talk about with him? Gun Woo looks away, annoyed, but looks back, insulted when she adds, “So immature!” Jung Joo sits back down on her bed and crosses her arms.

Gun Woo yells at her that it’s fine! She better not dare talk to him from now on! And he won't ever leave this place! He really stresses the *jeoldae* (절대) part, which I love. He grabs his sacks and leaves her space.

The next morning, it’s business as usual. What is it with them fighting and then acting like nothing’s happened? Like Gun Woo’s shirt today. What is he making? It looks like he’s using peanut butter. Too bad. Look at that bacon! The Warm and Cozy is busy with happy customers. Jung Joo looks over at Gun Woo and when he looks back, she pointedly avoids his eyes. He sighs, frustrated.

Later, they are cleaning with Jung Joo mopping. Gun Woo’s coming from the opposite direction, so they run into each other. The passing dance with Jung Joo glaring at him and mouthing that he should move. He mouths back that she should. Instead, she takes the mop and mops his feet. Gun Woo doesn’t like that. Poong San frowns. He goes over to Gun Woo and says that he feels really uncomfortable because of the two of them. He tells Gun Woo to go make up with Jung Joo. Adamantly, Gun Woo refuses. He doesn’t want to. He won't ever talk to her first!

Gun Woo looks in Jung Joo’s direction and sees her taking some mints. Of course, he thinks they’re pain killers. He asks Poong San whether Jung Joo is taking those painkillers. Poong San says, “Yes... I guess she is?”

Outside, Jung Joo is cleaning the mop by stomping on it. As she stomps she mutters that Gun Woo acts like a little kid! Kiddie Baek! Poong San approaches and tells her that he will do it. She can go inside. As she walks away, she starts muttering under her breath about Gun Woo again. Poong San gets her attention. He asks if she’s remembered to regularly take the vitamins he gave her. That sneaky dog! He is smart. She replies that she just took some again and thanks him for worrying about my health. He smiles and tells her not to mention it. He only prescribed some medicine for peace within the Warm and Cozy. Heh.

Jung Joo is pushing a basin of conch (on wheels). Mayor rides up. His jacket is practically the same color as Gun Woo’s shirt. Hmmm… She asks if he’s eaten? He answers, asking if she’s planning on treating him to a meal? She asks if it’s possible to find out who got into the lady diver school ahead of time? All business (and looking straight ahead instead of at Jung Joo), Mayor says that the announcement will happen on Monday. Jung Joo sighs and confides that she’s sure she didn't get in. Puzzled, Mayor looks at her and asks why she thinks that. Jung Joo says that Yoo Ja didn't like her.

Mayor blinks and quickly says that Gun Woo apologized to her. Didn't Jung Joo know? Jung Joo is shocked and can barely ask if Gun Woo did. Mayor says that Gun Woo made pizza for Yoo Ja’s grandchildren and tried his hardest to make her feel better. It’s almost like he hates the fact that he’s having to say something nice about his rival. I laugh. Jung Joo says that he didn't say anything about that. He apologized to Yoo Ja for her... She’s touched.

Back at the Warm and Cozy, Gun Woo is checking out Jung Joo’s medicine. The bottle he picks up reads “Fentanyl.’ Gun Woo sighs. The front door bell rings and he quickly puts the bottle back where he found it. Although why she’s leaving it out on the counter where just anyone can see it and take it, I don’t know. He tries to act busy.

Ack! It’s Dead Face Harpy. She has a big smile on her face as she says his name. He's pleasantly surprised to see her.

Jung Joo returns to the Warm and Cozy with her basin of conch. Gun Woo glances in her direction but doesn’t say anything. Jung Joo walks forward a little. She starts to say his name, but chokes on it. He points at her because she broke first. She looks at him and he looks away. He grins quickly and then makes his face serious. He asks what she wants. She starts to answer--

--when Dead Face Harpy appears with some lettuce. Is this enough? As Gun Woo looks in Dead Face Harpy’s direction, Jung Joo winces and sighs. He turns back to Jung Joo and asks what she wants. She got his attention, so she should say something. And my stomach hurts as I feel for her. Dead Face Harpy stands behind him (in Jung Joo’s line of sight) smiling smugly. Jung Joo barely looks at him as she says that she collected a lot of conches today, so make sure to add them to the dinner menu.

She dejectedly starts walking off with the conch. It’s obvious that Gun Woo doesn’t want it to be the end of the conversation. Instead of turning back to Dead Face Harpy, he calls after Jung Joo, asking if he should make a soup, a noodle soup, or a porridge? She doesn’t answer. Gun Woo sighs, annoyed. He starts smacking the food he’s working on. Dead Face Harpy smiles, pleased that they’re on the outs. I really wish I could reach through the screen and slap that smirk off her face.

Jung Joo has gone outside and is washing the conches. Dead Face Harpy comes outside – clearly feeling like queen of the manor – and asks Jung Joo why she would go exert herself to collect those. Jung Joo doesn’t want to have to talk to her. Jung Joo replies that it’s the restaurant concept. What does it have to do with Dead Face Harpy? Dead Face Harpy says that she heard that Jung Joo makes Gun Woo collect them, too. She supposes that Jung Joo’s concept is to make work that doesn't exist. Jung Joo looks at Dead Face Harpy, who tells her to stop making a fuss and making Gun Woo feel uncomfortable. Don't make him do work he doesn't need to do because of her. Dead Face Harpy saunters off. And I am sitting here wondering who she thinks she is.

Jung Joo mutters after Dead Face Harpy about her stupidness, but then she remembers her place in the pecking order. Which I think is changing, but Jung Joo doesn’t know that. Jung Joo says that she supposes that Gun Woo does go digging for conches that he doesn't need and makes an apology he doesn't need to make. She’s making me sad. I can so relate to how she feels right now! He's put in an uncomfortable position because of her.

Later, Gun Woo has taken a shower. He notices a big black bag in one of the chairs downstairs. Why is that there? He thinks a moment and then worries. That this means that Jung Joo is leaving. He said he’d never leave, but that doesn’t mean she won’t. He starts to open the zipper when Jung Joo appears. He stops and pretends to be standing there, not caring about anything. Awkward standing.

After a moment, he points to the bag and starts to ask. Jung Joo looks away and clears her throat. He sighs, frustrated at their impasse and starts upstairs. Jung Joo unzips the bag and looks in it. The sound of the zipper makes Gun Woo stop on the stairs. Jung Joo looks and wonders if everything would fit in there? Gun Woo backs down a few stairs and tries to see inside the bag. Jung Joo feels him looking so she looks in his direction. He tries to pretend that he wasn’t looking.

Jung Joo looks up at him. Gun Woo looks at her and asks what the bag is. She says, with a tinge of sadness, that he feels really uncomfortable because of her, right? He blinks and says that she’s upset, so that makes him feel uncomfortable. Thinking of Dead Face Harpy’s words, she tells him not to try so hard. Gun Woo doesn’t know how to take that. He looks at her, hurt behind his eyes. She turns back to her bag.

The next morning, Gun Woo is looking for Jung Joo. Did she go to forage herbs early this morning? He notices that the big bag from the night before isn't there anymore either. But what was that large bag about? Poong San enters with the mop. Gun Woo asks if Poong San has seen Jung Joo. Poong San says that she just left. She said she was going to Jeju Port to get on a ferry. Gun Woo gets worried fast. Why? With an earnest look – like he has not idea, but I think he’s lying right now – Poong San says that he doesn't know. Doesn’t Gun Woo know where she's going? Gun Woo answers that he doesn’t. He doesn’t talk to her these days.

Gun Woo thinks about the big luggage bag and asks Poong San if Jung Joo left with it. Poong San says she did. Gun Woo really looks worried now. Where is she going? When is she coming back? Poong San says that he doesn’t know. Doesn't hyung know when she's coming back? Then he acts worried as he wonders out loud: What if she... doesn't ever come back? I am laughing because he is so wrong. (And yet so right!)

Gun Woo thinks about her last words to him: You feel really uncomfortable because of me, right? Don't try so hard. His face says he’s concluded that she’s leaving forever. Gun Woo gasps with anxiety and runs out. Poong San can’t help but smile at the effectiveness of his handiwork. Good man, Poong San! Good man!

Gun Woo quickly speeds to the Jeju Coastal Ferry Terminal. Thank you, Jeju Island for having a sign in English! He hurries inside, scanning the crowd for Jung Joo. He is extremely worried that he won’t find her. He sighs, tormented because he hasn’t found her yet. Then he spots her as she gets ready to load the ferry. He sighs, his face saying that he can’t believe that she made him worry like that! He walks over to her, saying her name. She’s surprised to see him. He tells her they’re going. As he grabs her bag, he tells her that they can talk on the way back.

Jung Joo hurries after him, grabbing his arm to make him stop. Where would she go? She has to get on the ferry now. He starts yelling at her. How can she do this? It's not like a daughter-in-law leaving her in-laws. How can she leave just because they had a fight? Jung Joo answers that she’s going to a friend's wedding now. Wedding? Jung Joo nods, trying not to smile. She’s obviously happy that he was worried and upset that she was leaving. He asks what's with her luggage? She opens the bag and shows the gifts she’s taking for her friends. She bought them Hallabong oranges, sea salt, and a few other things. Gun Woo inspects the bag to make sure she’s telling the truth and then he mutters Poong San’s name, cursing the boy mentally for torturing him.

Jung Joo doesn’t take that ferry. Outside, she sits with Gun Woo standing awkwardly beside her. He tells her to have a good trip. She’s coming back, right? Looking at the leaf she’s fiddling with, she asks if she should not come back? Her voice is hoping that he says that she should. Immediately, Gun Woo tells her to come back. She has to come! Aw, she *has* to. Still not looking at him, she says that even if he tells her not to, she’ll come back anyway. Besides, why would she leave? If she had to, she'd kick him out.

Gun Woo immediately sits next to her and with submissive body language he calls her “Boss” and asks that she please doesn’t kick him out. Hee. She glances at him. He adds that while she’s away, he'll work really hard. She can’t help but smile. She tucks her hair behind her ears. She asks if she should get him something on her way back? He cocks his head at that. She tells him to forget it. He went to Seoul and did a lot of shopping... She won't need to buy him anything from Busan. He smiles because she’s teasing him now. He tells her that she’s upset because he didn't go to Seoul with her. She makes a face.

Gun Woo squints at her. She said that she's going to a wedding. What's with her appearance? He points specifically at her hair. She asks what he means. He tells her to let down her hair at least. She’s prettier when her hair is down. She smiles. Really? He smiles and nods. She clears her throat and takes out her pony tail. She fluffs out her hair a little. Gun Woo almost immediately tells her to put it back up again. Heh. There's an indent where her hair tie was. Jung Joo frowns. He looks at her and chuckles.

At the Diving School, Mayor runs in. He's panting. Jong Bae is worried. What brings him there? Mayor pants that he heard they have the list of people who got in. Jong Bae has just completed it. Mayor asks to take a quick look. As Jong Bae goes for the list, Hae Shil comes hurrying in. She’s there about the list, too. Jong Bae looks at them and asks why they came all the way there. Did someone ask them to check? Head scratching from Mayor. Hae Shil doesn’t say anything.

Jong Bae pulls out the list, saying that a lot of men got in this year. Mayor and Hae Shil grab it out of his hand and look. Jung Joo got in. Yay! Mayor breaks out into a big grin and breathes a sigh of relief. Jong Bae notices. Hae Shil smiles slightly seeing Hyung’s name. I guess she doesn’t want to be done with him after all.

Hyung is in a meeting, preoccupied. Man says that he has good news. They will be hosting the VIPs for Jeju International Forum. Group claps, with Hyung half-heartedly joining in. Hae Shil texts him that he got in. Reading it, Hyung yells, “Yes! Yes!” Everyone is looking at him, so he starts clapping again, like he was excited about them hosting the VIPs. He keeps saying ‘yes!’ And it’s cracking me up, especially because he’s saying it in English.

Gun Woo is out with a bunch of the ajummas picking herbs. The weather's so nice! Shall they have some fun digging? Jung Joo calls him and he uses his watch phone (and bluetooth) to answer. He tells her that he came to dig for some herbs. Smiling, she asks if he harvested a lot. I guess their fight is over. He reports that he collected a huge amount. He asks about the wedding. Is it over? Jung Joo says that she’s going to the reception now. Gun Woo asks when she’s coming back. Jung Joo says that she might not get back tonight. Gun Woo doesn’t like that. Jung Joo says that they’re having an after-party with the groom's friends at a sushi restaurant. They reserved a club nearby and hotel rooms, too, so she’s thinking of sleeping over. After-party… groom’s friends… sleeping over…

Gun Woo definitely doesn’t like that. What kind of reception lasts all night? Jung Joo says that she and her friends decided to go and see the sunrise at Taejongdae. Gun Woo mutters that it’s the same sunrise in either Jeju or Taejongdae... She tells him not to wait up for her and to close up the restaurant. Reluctantly, Gun Woo says ‘okay.’

There's a pause and then Gun Woo says that the clouds in Jeju look unusual today. Really? The sky is really blue and clear. Wow, that’s a nice view. There are dark clouds swarming in. Jung Joo is surprised. It's really nice where she is. Gun Woo tells her that he knows a little bit about the weather in Jeju. By tomorrow, it should be a thunderstorm with lightning and tornadoes. It will be ridiculous. It's possible that she won’t be able to get there by plane or boat tomorrow. Jung Joo smiles because she knows he’s lying. Gun Woo declares that it's better that she gets back while the weather is still nice.

Jung Joo plays along like she believes him. Gun Woo asks if she’s coming today, right? She’s non-committal: She'll see. Gun Woo threatens to not dig for herbs if she doesn't come soon. She responds by saying that she’ll call after she sees how things go. Then she hangs up before he can say anything else.

Frustrated, Gun Woo kicks his bucket and declares that he won't do it! Yoo Ja yells over to him – calling him Warm and Cozy (Maendorong) – that there are snakes that appear over there. He immediately freaks and starts jumping around, trying to avoid the snakes. All the ajummas laugh at him.

Jung Joo has decided to go home rather than go to the reception. She looks at herself in the mirror and frowns. She asks her friend if there’s a hair salon across the street. Her friend is surprised that she wants to go *after* the wedding. Jung Joo smiles and says that it's been a while, so she might go and make herself feel better. She’ll just get a blowout.

Nighttime. Jung Joo is on the bus, with her nice new hair. It looks really good. Bus stops to let passengers off. Mayor is out on his bike and spots her. He does a double take and mutters, “Whoa!” Bus drives away. Mayor is about to go on his way, but then… he takes off after the bus on his bike. Don’t kill yourself, man! I cannot believe he is keeping up with the bus! By the time the bus stops, Mayor is about to keel over. Jung Joo gets off the bus and Mayor tries to pretend that he was just walking about with his bike. Not riding it, but *walking* it. A bike.

Jung Joo greets him and keeps going. He yells at her to wait! He sputters, asking how she can just walk by. She acted all friendly when she needed him... Man, he is sweating. She thinks for a minute and chuckles with realization. She went to Busan and bought some fried pancakes. It's not much, but would he like some? Mayor would. As Jung Joo unpacks a pancake, Mayor tries to not fall over. When Jung Joo looks, he tries to act all cool. She tells him that he must've worked out this evening. The sweat on his face...

Back at the Warm and Cozy, Gun Woo has laid out on Jung Joo’s bed a wet suit, swim fins, snorkel and diving mask. He declares that with these, she'll even be able to cross the Pacific Ocean. He smiles with anticipation. Jung Joo will be shocked when she sees this. He grabs the arm of the wet suit and tells Lee Jung Joo,”Fighting!” He happily pats the mask like it’s Jung Joo’s head.

Jung Joo and Mayor are walking together. Mayor says that she would have had to wait until tomorrow to find out but he'll tell her since she gave him a fried pancake. He pops the kickstand on his bike, so it will stand on its own, and faces her. Miss Lee Jung Joo... You got in. Jung Joo can’t believe it. As she starts to celebrate, Gun Woo walks up, phone to his ear. Probably trying to call her. Jung Joo is ecstatic. She makes Mayor take her hands and turn around in a circle as she bounces happily. Gun Woo is not happy that she's celebrating with Mayor. He stops trying to call her.

Jung Joo gives Mayor about 50 (hand slaps) and sighs that it’s a relief. Mayor has a big goofy smile on his face and he looks at his hands where she touched them. She spots Gun Woo and calls his name. Frowning he walks over to the two. He glares at Mayor and asks what Jung Joo is so happy about. Boy, his voice sounds sulky. She can hardly contain herself as she cries that she got in! Mayor practically crows as Jung Joo says that he went and told her ahead of time. The look is not lost on Gun Woo.

Gun Woo’s reaction: Really? Jung Joo holds up her hands so that they can share a high ten and she cheers that she got in! High twenty and then Gun Woo pulls her into a hug instead. Jung Joo is shocked. So is Mayor. Gun Woo smiles widely and tells her congratulations! He's so proud of her, his Lee Jung Joo! Not marking his territory at all. He swings her back and forth as he hugs her. Mayor blinks. Jung Joo pats Gun Woo and as she pulls out of the hug, thanks him. He says that they should go and, looking at Mayor, he puts his arm around Jung Joo and says that they should have a party. (And the Korean word for party is 'party.') Mayor makes a perturbed face.

Gun Woo tries to get Jung Joo to walk away with him, but she stops him. She has to get her bags. Mayor had tied them to his bike. Oh, her bags? His Jung Joo's bags? He should take care of his Jung Joo's bags. He should carry his Jung Joo's bags for her. I wonder if he can call her 'his Jung Joo' any more times. Heh. He walks over, unstraps the bags and tells Jung Joo to go. Hurry up! One last glance at the Mayor and Gun Woo starts walking.

Gun Woo stops as he hears Jung Joo thank Mayor for today. He says that it's no big deal. He asks if she’s prepared everything for the field practice. She says that she has just about everything. She just needs to buy a diving mask. Casually, Mayor asks if he should get her one. From the ajumma divers? Jung Joo says that she’d be so thankful! She almost bought one, but she’s glad that she didn't. Gun Woo laughs bitterly. He thinks about the diving outfit he put out on her bed and sighs.

Jung Joo tells Mayor that he was a great help in her getting into the lady diver school. Gun Woo turns around to look at her. What does that mean? She did well on the interview thanks to those tips he gave her. Gun Woo drops the luggage. What does she mean by that? He walks back over to them. Was she really able to get in thanks to the mayor's help? I expected his voice to be angry, but it’s not. She nods. Gun Woo sighs, annoyed, but then he says 'ah!' as he figures out what happened. The mayor got her in because of that picture! Jung Joo looks at him with a face that says to stop talking. Gun Woo misses it. Or maybe he *doesn't.*

Mayor asks what picture Gun Woo means? Gun Woo says that he saw it too. He strikes the pose and says Red… Clay… Man... And I have to laugh at how he says it. I had to rewatch it, too. Hehehe. Mayor is horrified. Reflexively, his hands cover his crotch area. Gun Woo asks Jung Joo if the Mayor didn't get her in because she kept his secret? Jung Joo glares at Gun Woo and motions like she’s going to hit his mouth as she mouths for him to stop. What? It wasn't? Gun Woo puts his hands over his mouth like he's moritifed, and, smiling, he says that he made a mistake. Jung Joo tries to explain, but has no words. Mayor is barely audible as he says that he’ll get going.

Back at the Warm and Cozy, Jung Joo is mad. Gun Woo is carrying her luggage. He tells her that she grabbed a rotten rope to save herself but it's too bad that it broke off! Annoyed, he puts down her bag and obnoxiously says that he’s sorry! She’s wants to punch him but she smiles sweetly and says that she has no choice. If the rumor gets out, she'll have to take responsibility for the mayor. Gun Woo laughs at that. Is she planning on marrying Mayor or something? She answers that she guesses she is. Gun Woo doesn’t like that. He looks at her. She squints at him and dares him to spread the word about the Red Clay Man. Let her become the mayor's wife. She smiles spitefully and stomps up the stairs. He yells up after her that it’s fine! Is his friend becoming Mrs. Mayor?!

There's a pause and then Jung Joo calls down to him, asking what’s on her bed. He comes upstairs to head to his space. She asks if they’re hers, by any chance. He says that they’re his! He stomps over and starts to pick up the stuff on the bed. She mumbles that she thought… She’s holding the mask and holds it out to him, says that it’s his. He glares at her and declares strongly that they’re hers! Hers! He looks at the wet suit and practically yells that no matter how stretchable it is, would he be able to fit into it? Since he’s so tall, and all. He shoves the wetsuit and the rest into her arms.

Still frowning, he says that he bought it on the day that he came back from Seoul. Flashback to Gun Woo catching the owner of the Marine Leisure Sports shop (thank you, sign in English!) right as he was closing. He persuades the manager to stay open, since he’s going to buy a lot! All the bags that he had were things that he had bought her. He smiles happily as he examines his purchases, including the mask. He says that his Jung Joo is going to be a fashionista among the Jeju lady divers. Ironic that during their fight over him taking Dead Face Harpy shopping in Seoul, his available credit was used up buying Jung Joo’s diving gear.

Jung Joo is smiling. They must've been really expensive. Why did he buy them? She tells him that she got one from someone. He should take it back. Shattered glass sound effect. He frowns and says that she’s right. Why did he buy these? Fine, they should take them back! He starts to grab it all. Jung Joo protests and makes sure to snag the diving mask. She smiles at it and strokes it happily, saying that she’ll use it.

Gun Woo lies down on his bed. He mutters, “Mrs. Mayor?” He doesn’t like that idea at all. Jung Joo calls his name. He ignores it and closes his eyes like he’s asleep. She pokes her head in and then comes in his space and sits on his bed. She’s got the face cream she bought him. She holds it out to him. He glances at it and then sits up. What is that? He’s so trying to hold onto his pride. It’s cracking me up. She says that she heard he lobbied Yoo Ja with pizza for me. He squirms because someone told her. She thanks him. She heard that? He’s kind of happy that she knows. He declares that he didn't do it to show off. She says that she heard that his skin is ruined from collecting conches and herbs. Don't steal her cosmetics from now on. Use this. He takes the box and looks at it. A smile and a thank you.

Gun Woo stops and leans in to stare at Jung Joo’s face. She’s a little uncomfortable by the proximity. He says that she put on makeup. And she let her hair down. She fidgets and says that she should go wash her face. He’s smiling, enjoying the view. And he doesn’t lean back. Jung Joo looks away from him, asking why she’s so hungry. He sits back at that. Why is she hungry when she just came back from a feast? She declares that she didn't get to eat a proper meal. It was a hotel buffet and it tasted horrible compared to his cooking. He tells her that her taste buds have become more sensitive from all the food he’s been cooking her. Jung Joo adds that the hotel chef is supposedly some master chef of Korea, but Gun Woo’s food tastes a lot better than his. So he’s the top master chef of Korea. He asks if the top master chef should make her dukbokki? She smiles and nods enthusiastically.

Hyung is sitting looking at his phone. He tells his dog – a pretty white Samoyed – that Hae Shil got him in. What would that mean? Dog blinks. He thinks about what he said and concludes that she didn't drop him so it should mean that she wants to see him.

Hae Shil is at home, getting her laundry off the line. He texts her that she got him in like she'd hoped. What is she going to do now? I love how he says that it’s like *she* hoped, not that he was the one stewing by the phone… She asks the phone what she would do – like she’s insulted that he’s implying that she’s going to do anything. She puts the phone back in her pocket. Every time Hyung texts, she pulls it out, reads the text, and then puts it away. I love that she has to slap it shut to close it; it adds so much meaning to her putting away her phone. Another text: “I thought you would be waiting for my thank you text, so I'm texting you.” She mutters, asking why she would wait. Hyung texts again and Hae Shil rolls her eyes. You don’t have to read it, you know. That would really bug him. He says that she’d probably be disappointed if he just said it in words, so should they meet? She tells her phone, “Forget it.”

Another text. Hae Shil sighs in annoyance. This one says that he’s in front of her house. Will she come out? Uh-oh. Hae Shil looks to see if she can see him and then looks at what she’s wearing. Heh. But she doesn’t like him. She pats her hair so that it looks okay and then grabs a sweater off the line to put over her t-shirt. She does look kind of frumpy here. But when you’re home, alone, it’s okay to be comfortable in shapeless, baggy clothes. She mutters to herself about Hyung, who is he to call at this hour?

Hae Shil starts to head out front – fixing her hair again – when another text arrives. Hyung asks if she wasn’t hopeful, right? He didn't come over. He didn't miss her enough to go there at this hour. He’s not crazy enough to do that. She mutters that he’s such a strange person. She sighs and puts away her phone. As she turns around, camera pans back to show Hyung hiding behind a house watching her. He is such a dork! She heads back inside and he tells himself that’s crazy, crazy. Song Jung Geun, you're crazy. But still, with his strong willpower, he didn't go to the front door. She doesn't know he was there, so it’s fine. And I have to laugh because someone on Viki had the same reactions as me – what’s with the granny shoes he’s wearing?

Noona encounters Mi Ra. Mi Ra calls Noona 'friend' and has brought alcohol. Inside, Noona protests – even as she holds out her glass – that she shouldn't be drinking... Mi Ra points out that Noona’s already been drinking. Noona mutters about a hangover if she mixes drinks. Mi Ra pulls out a picture from her purse and says that when they were talking last time, she ended up taking it. That picture of Mom and Mystery Dad. Oops. That’s where Mi Ra got the idea… Noona’s loose lips! Noona doesn’t remember showing Mi Ra the picture. Mi Ra says that she said it was something that Mom cherished. Noona even told her a lot of interesting stories when she showed her this.

Noona knows that she’s messed up. She asks, muted, if she got drunk and told Mi Ra about Mom when she was drunk. Mi Ra says that she was so inspired, after hearing about Mom, that she started writing a novel about a man who was her first love and showed up again after becoming a millionaire. The voice she uses says that Mi Ra thinks it’s all so romantic. Noona is really uncomfortable now.

Mi Ra asks if Mom’s story isn’t just like when Gatsby showed up in front of Daisy after all that time. Noona laughs uncomfortably and says that Mi Ra isn’t going to write a novel about Mom and Gun Woo's father, is she? That would be so bad, considering all the rumors and how ostracized Gun Woo is already. A scandal of those proportions… No wonder Gun Woo was shattered on his 19th birthday to find out his father’s identity. Noona protests that she was drunk and talking nonsense. She was drunk! She was just blabbering nonsense because she was drunk. Even though that’s when people usually say things that they normally wouldn’t… Drunkness makes the filter turn off. Mi Ra’s face says that she doesn’t believe Noona.

Jung Joo is lying on her bed, hugging her pillow and smiling, content. Gun Woo calls in to her, asking if she’s sleeping. Jung Joo rolls over so she’d facing the wall. Gun Woo pokes his head in, and seeing that she’s not responding, goes in and sits on her bed. He looks kind of sad right now. He says her name again and when she doesn’t respond, he reaches over and touches her shoulder. This makes her bolt into a sitting position, while sputtering: What, what? What does he want her to do in the middle of the night? Gun Woo says her name again and adds that he’s sick. Oh, he looks like he feels miserable! He says that he thinks he has indigestion from the dokbokki. Aw, he needs a little comfort because his tummy hurts. Aw.

They head downstairs where Jung Joo gives him a little TLC, which includes pounding on his back. So he can burp? She asks if they should go to the hospital. He says that it’s fine. He took some medicine, so he should feel better soon. He asks her to pat on his back a little more. He’s clearly enjoying that. Jung Joo declares that it’s not working and she should do some acupuncture. Gun Woo immediately cries that it’s fine! He feels all better. He feels great. She puts the needle away.

Gun Woo says that it’s nice having someone by his side when he’s sick. She agrees that it’s sad to be alone when you're sick. This reminds Gun Woo that’s she’s sick. Gun Woo asks if *she* isn’t sick. She says that she’s fine. Which she is, but to Gun Woo it sounds like she’s trying to cover up her illness. He turns around and tells her to be sure to tell him even if he’s a little bit sick. When she’s sick, he’ll make sure to be with her. She smiles and tells him thank you, even if those are just empty words. I don’t think those were empty, but given his track record, it’s easy to see why she would think so.

Gun Woo leans in closer and reaches for her face. Freeze frame makes it look like he’s about to kiss her. I guess that’s where the music is coming from. Gun Woo pushes on her cheek and says that now that he’s looking at her... she looks a little better than when he first saw her. He frowns and says that he should make her some nutritional food. And he keeps touching her face.

Jung Joo is struggling. She grabs his hand and asks him what he’s doing. Is he that comfortable around her? Gun Woo says that he said he was. He’s not at all uncomfortable being with her. That should be a big clue, Gun Woo, that she’s the girl for you. You’re comfortable in your own skin when she’s around. Of course, he’s clueless. He smiles and turns back around, telling her to pat his back a little more. She looks really pretty like this.

Jung Joo hesitates for a moment and then begins to rub his back. She asks him if it doesn't bother him at all. He’s a boy and she’s a girl. Without turning around, Gun Woo asks if he would have asked her to live with him if he saw her as a girl. Ouch! It's not at all like that, so don't worry! Gee, thanks, Gun Woo. Jung Joo stops rubbing his back. She asks what he’d do if she didn’t feel the same way? Gun Woo looks a little less comfortable.

Jung Joo leans her head against his back. She says softly that she gets... butterflies in her stomach. Even now, when she’s with him... her heart pounds so much, she’s worried that he might find out. Gun Woo looks like he’s not breathing. What if... she said that? Gun Woo swallows and she waits. He turns around to say something. She sits up and smacks him on the shoulder, smiling. She laughs. He’s so shocked that his indigestion is gone, right? Gun Woo’s face says that he doesn’t know how to respond to that. Jung Joo adds that this is usually a much better method than pricking someone’s finger. She smiles at him, slaps him on the shoulder again and leaves the room. Gun Woo reaches up and rubs the spot where his heart is. He looks at where she’s gone and sighs. Methinks you're falling in love, son.

Resort. Dead Face Harpy has brought Hyung a request for sponsorship of a local event. Hyung looks at it: The Lady Diver Festival at the lady diver school? Dead Face Harpy says that this is the first time they have requested support but she believe that it's better to decline the sponsorship request. Their resort has nothing to do with lady divers. Instead of rubber stamping that, Hyung says that they can't necessarily say that they have nothing to do with them. Especially since you’re going to diving school and are trying to date the head of the school. He tells her to sponsor the event.

Hae Shil is surprised that Noblesse Resort has agreed to sponsor the Lady Diver festival. Mayor says that he wasn't expecting much either, but the president of the resort is very enthusiastic about it. With sponsorship from a resort of this size, they might be able to invite the lady divers from Okinawa for the festival. Hae Shil likes that. Ten of them were invited to Okinawa last year. They’ll be able to keep their heads up because of this, this time. Hae Shil adds that whoever the president is she’s very grateful towards him.

Leaving the Mayor’s office, Hae Shil gets a call from Hyung. He asks her whether something good happened to her… didn't it? Hae Shil asks how he knows that. He announces that she’s happy thanks to him. Wow, Hyung. If you’re even humble with her, I think she’ll fall over. Hae Shil doesn’t buy it at all. Why would she be happy thanks to him? Instead of answering, he just says that it’s all thanks to him, so she should treat him to lunch. He’ll head over there, so she should wait for him. Hae Shil says that she won’t see him, so he shouldn’t come. Good girl, play hard to get, at least till he humbles out some.

Hyung says that Hae Shil told him not to come the day before, even though she was looking forward to it. She says that that never happened. Then Hyung totally shows that he’s not as cool as he’s pretending. Hyung says that she put on a cardigan and brushed her hair... She was waiting for him! Wasn’t she? That last part isn’t a questioning question, but a ‘you know you were’ question. And Hae Shil knows that he was there spying on her, otherwise he wouldn’t know that.

Hyung smiles, confident, and says that he’s someone who can make her wait for him and get excited about seeing him. Yeah, that’s gonna sweep me off my feet. Nobody likes to know that the person of their affection knows they can manipulate them. Hae Shil – her voice almost chastising – says that she has no reason to see him or wait for him. She’ll see him in class. She hangs up and then glances around her to make sure he’s not watching. Heh.

Hyung isn’t just going to see her in class. He calls Secretary Jang and tells him to ask the chairwoman of the Sorang Town Lady Diver Association to give them a briefing on the details of the festival sponsorship. He’s rather pleased with himself that he’s going to get her to see him whether she wants to or not. When she arrives at the resort – dressed very nicely (she changed her clothes) – Hyung has her wait by the pool. Which is totally appropriate for a briefing… A server brings her a nice mixed drink.

While she waits, Hae Shil takes in the pool. It’s a very nice resort. Hyung appears and clears his throat to get her attention. She asks why he’s there. He’s acting all cool, of course. Instead of answering, he asks who she’s waiting for. When she says that it’s the president of the hotel, he tells her that it’s probably very difficult to arrange a meeting with him. Wow, he is such a butthead. I’m so important, it’s hard to get a meeting with me. She tells him that it’s none of his business. What is he doing there? Again, Hyung plays evasive and says that he’s also there for work. When she asks what kind, he tells her that she doesn’t need to know.

Hyung tells her that it’s enough for today. He’ll see her again tomorrow. Hae Shil asks why she would see him tomorrow. Smiling cockily, he asks if she doesn’t want to see him. She waited for him and was excited to see him... She really didn't do that? Indignantly, she says that she didn't! She won't have a reason to see him tomorrow. She looks away. Hyung doesn’t like to be dismissed. He tells her that if he decides to see her, he can see her anytime… be it tomorrow, or the day after! In English, he tells her ‘Good luck!’ accentuating it with a finger point. Hyung walks off and then has Secretary Jang send her away. But the President insists on making her ride home in one of his cars.

Gun Woo is burdened. He’s sitting in his hammock, but something’s on his mind. Could it be how you felt that in your heart when she said that she liked you? Maybe? Jung Joo comes out of the Warm and Cozy and sees him. She grimaces, annoyed that he's chilling in the hammock. She runs over to Gun Woo, whose eyes are closed. She tells him to get up. If he sleeps there, people will think they aren't open for business. No response, even when she pushes on his shoulder. She tells him that it’s her first day at diver school. She’ll see him later.

As she walks away, Gun Woo opens one eye to see if she’s really leaving. Then he calls her name to get her attention. She stops. He stands up and takes a few steps towards her. He tells her to do a good job and catch a big abalone. It's her first day. How can she catch an abalone that big? He reminds her what she promised: Lady Diver Lee Jung Joo's first catch, whatever that is, it's his. She smiles and says that she’s got it. He wishes her a good day!

Mayor has stopped by Marine Leisure Sports to pick up a mask for Jung Joo. Ew. It’s pink. So much for getting one from the ajummas. Manager offers to wrap it, but Mayor waves him off. He takes the tag off the mask, but then worries that it still looks new. Head scratch. He wonders about soaking it in salt water. He heads over to the Diving School. When Jung Joo sees him, she hurries over to him to apologize about his secret. He tells her that it’s fine – in a voice that tells her that he’d rather not ever talk about it. She explains that the picture was on her phone and Gun Woo saw it.

Mayor looks at her: she has a copy of that picture on her cell phone? She does. Did she save it and look at it from time to time? Really, dude?! Make it obvious that you wish that was the case. Jung Joo immediately protests that she’s not a pervert. Why would she look at a picture of him in him underwear? She starts to explain again and he waves her off, telling her to forget the excuses! She answers that she’s not okay with it! Manager Park sent it to her so she could show him that nostalgic picture. She starts to dig in her bag for her phone.

Mayor notices the diving mask in her bag. Did she buy one? She remembers that he was going to get her one. He doesn’t need to do it now, since Gun Woo gave her one as a gift. Mayor is obviously disappointed – although Jung Joo misses it. He hides the bag with his mask in it behind his back. Jung Joo goes in first. After she’s gone, he pulls out the mask now mutters that he can’t even return it because he soaked it in salt water.

Class picture. Where’s Sam? He didn’t make it in? Aw. Jung Joo yells for the photographer to wait. She yells for Sam and he comes running out of the school. Yay! That makes me happy. I like him. Picture time. And Sam has the ‘V’ down. Photographer: everyone make a V! Everyone say ‘Fighting!’ Very cool. Jung Joo and Sam are in the same training class, under Hae Shil. Hyung is also supposed to be in her class, but he’s absent. What’s up with that, Hyung?!

Hyung is hard at work, at work. Wearing shorts. I love it. He’s business casual today. Jang mentions how Hyung said to clear his Saturdays from now on. Didn’t he have personal business to attend to? Hyung snaps that he’s taking care of personal business right now. So you’re sulking? I shake my head.Jang asks if Hyung is reviewing documents that they’ve already looked at. Hyung says that he’s trying not to see what he shouldn't see, so he’s looking at these documents. I shake my head again.

Diving school. Underwater filming. Mayor is helping with setting up the drinks. Jung Joo dives down and gets something. Mayor smiles happily and takes a picture of her.

Gun Woo has put up the hammock. Mayor rides by on his bike. Mayor stops and gives Gun Woo a nod. Gun Woo looks the other way. They both sulk! Mayor frowns and starts to ride off. Gun Woo thinks better of it. He yells after Mayor. When Mayor stops, Gun Woo says that he heard that the town office will hold a dinner at the restaurant. Yes, they were going to do that. He’s not going to cancel it, is he? Mayor looks at Gun Woo. Gun Woo says that what he brought up last time... hand pose just so the Mayor is clear what he’s talking about – that was his mistake. Gun Woo bows in Mayor’s direction and apologizes. Wow, Gun Woo’s maturing. Mayor is surprised, too. So he won't cancel the dinner, right? Mayor says he won’t. Gun Woo smiles to himself because he saved it. He tells Mayor to take care. Giving Mayor another bow. Wow, this maturity out of Gun Woo is strange.

Gun Woo turns to go into the Warm and Cozy but Mayor stops him. Is he… going to stay there now? Gun Woo thinks that’s a strange question. Mayor says that whenever he saw Gun Woo before, he always looked like he came to Sorang Town to hang out. But nowadays, he looks like a resident. That makes me smile. That’s a very good thing. Gun Woo considers that one. Mayor adds that he’ll have high expectations for the dinner. If it's not good, he'll never come back! Mayor rides off. Gun Woo mutters about how Mayor flung his measly authority at his Jung Joo. Pointing his finger at the leaving Mayor, Gun Woo declares, “Red Clay Man, I'll make you a slave to the taste!” I love it so much! Gun Woo gives himself a ‘fighting!’

Gun Woo is hard at work planning the Town Office dinner menu. He shows Poong San what he has planned: Grilled Lemon Sea Bream. Poong San looks up at him – like he’s worried – and asks if Gun Woo is really cooking sea bream. Gun Woo replies that this is a dinner for the town office. He should serve dishes with lots of power to defeat the mayor! Heh. He is cracking me up with his intensity right now. But he doesn’t like Jung Joo at all. Poong San’s face says, ‘okay.’ Gun Woo says that they’ve been selling lunch and dinner courses every day... so it’ll be fun to cook proper dishes for once. He wonders if they should order a few more abalones?

Jung Joo returns. She sees that they’re planning the menu and takes a look. Gun Woo asks if she had a good day at school. Jung Joo has stopped smiling. The price per head is pretty much set for the town office dinner. Abalone, sea bream... and even eel? Did he calculate the cost for these?! Gun Woo tells her to stop talking so much about cost. Jung Joo snaps back that of course they should worry about cost! They’re not doing business for fun! She tells him to start over.

Gun Woo snaps that he was doing it for fun in the first place! She should try the planning so it makes a lot of profit! He storms off. She sighs. Poong San asks that she try to understand him. Gun Woo never had to count pennies before in his life. He thought that Gun Woo’s been listening to her, but he must be getting frustrated again. Jung Joo sighs. Poong San notices the plastic bag that Jung Joo is carrying and asks about it. She pulls out her catch. She says that she promised Gun Woo that she’d give him whatever she caught first, but she didn't even get to show them to him. She looks disappointed.

Hyung groans in his chair. You should have gone to school. Dead Face Harpy enters. Why is she working on a Saturday? She announces that she brought last year's PR plans with her. He tells her to leave them on his desk. She notices that he looks really tired. She heard that he even skipped lunch. Hyung says that he doesn’t have much of an appetite. She actually looks pretty here. Must be the earrings. Dead Face Harpy suggests that they go to Gun Woo's restaurant. Hyung says that he’ll do it when he has time.

Dead Face Harpy asks Hyung to please make time. To be honest, there's something that worries her about Gun Woo. That gets Hyung’s attention. Dead Face Harpy says that Gun Woo lent the restaurant to some strange woman. And that woman... Hyung knows who it is: Miss Lee Jung Joo? He knows her, too. She’s a good person. Dead Face Harpy was not expecting that. He’s met her. If it's about that, Dead Face Harpy doesn't need to worry. Guess that didn’t work, trying to turn Hyung against Jung Joo. Of course, Hyung likes the fact that Jung Joo is helping Gun Woo to mature. You, on the other hand, want Gun Woo to stay an immature little boy forever so that you can continue to use and manipulate him.

Dead Face Harpy leaves Hyung’s office, perturbed. 'She's a good person'? She huffs at that. Then she spots Noona. If she can’t get Hyung, maybe she can snare Noona. She gets Noona’s attention and, looking worried, says that she has something to discuss with her about Gun Woo. Wow. I hate her so much.

And Noona takes the bait. Noona heads over to the Warm and Cozy. Jung Joo sees her and thinks that she’s a customer. Apologetically, she says that they’re not open for business yet. Before Noona gets beyond asking if she’s Miss Lee Jung Joo, Poong San spots Noona and greets her. Noona waves at Poong San, happy to see him. Poong San introduces Noona to Jung Joo. Immediately, Jung Joo gives her a bow and a happy, “Hello.” Noona isn’t so friendly. She looks Jung Joo over without a smile.

Noona goes to check out the living area. She waves the air and complains about the dust. You should have seen the other place Jung Joo was living. That was dusty. Noona asks if Gun Woo’s been staying with her there. Jung Joo says that it’s not ‘with her.’ She stays on that side and Gun Woo stays on this side. Not smiling, Noona says that she heard everything. That there's nothing going on between the two. Jung Joo agrees – with a tinge of sadness in her voice – that there really is nothing going on between them.

Noona runs her fingers over one of the shelves and rubs it because of the non-existent dust. She says that if she’d known about this, she wouldn't have left Gun Woo like this, no matter what Hyung said. She announces that she has to go see an important match now. She pulls a hotel key card from her purse (room key in Korean is ‘room key’) and orders Jung Joo to give it to Gun Woo. Jung Joo slowly takes it. Noona says that he should pack up and move into the resort immediately. Waving the non-existent dust out of her face again, Noona leaves. Jung Joo looks really sad now.

Jung Joo puts her first catch in the refrigerator. Gun Woo arrives with food for the dinner. He wearily tells her that the weather has gotten way too hot. He fans his shirt and says that he doesn't like sweating, so they should get delivery starting next week. Jung Joo tells him that he really doesn't need to stay there anymore. She’s trying to look and sound positive. He sighs – like, ‘why is she mad about him wanting delivery service?’ – and says that he’ll just keep going to the market. Just like she told him to, he paid attention to the prices for the ingredients. Gun Woo adds that he told her that he doesn't have anywhere to go. If he had a place to go, he'd leave right away! Doh! Shouldn’t have said that!

Now she’s not looking at him. It’s harder to keep that smile on her face. Jung Joo says that he does have a place to go now. Gun Woo looks at her, with a face that asks what she’s talking about. She pulls out the room card. She says that Noona came by and said that he should come to the resort. Now, Gun Woo doesn’t look happy. Noona got him an empty room, so he can move in right away. And I know that Hyung doesn’t know anything about it, because he would have put a stop to it before it started. Gun Woo looks at the key again and slowly takes it. Jung Joo smiles and says that it turned out great. Gun Woo replies that it did. But his face isn’t selling it at all.

Gun Woo loads his suitcase into his car. Jung Joo looks like she doesn’t want him to leave. Which she doesn’t, but how can she ask him to stay? It’s not like he likes her, or anything. He turns to her and says that he promised to only intrude for a little bit, but that turned out to be a long time. She tells him to have fun from now on. He could live his life, doing whatever he wanted, but she showed up out of nowhere and bothered him. He sighs. And his face says that he doesn’t like that she thinks that. Jung Joo adds that he felt really uncomfortable, didn't he? Gun Woo looks back at her, wearing a frown. She tells him to go have fun now.

Gun Woo asks if she’s sure that she can stay there by herself? What if she suddenly gets sick? She asks why she would get sick. Aw, it’s his last excuse not to go. Sounding disappointed, Gun Woo tells her, “Okay, don't get sick.”

Gun Woo drives away, watching Jung Joo get smaller in his side mirror. He doesn’t look happy at all. Noona is there to ‘welcome’ him to his room. She tells him to be good at avoiding Hyung. Gun Woo sits on the couch -- looking like he’s being punished. He won’t look at Noona. She says that as long as he don't run into Hyung, even if Hyung finds out, he'll pretend not to know. Gun Woo says that if he has to go around avoiding Hyung, there's no real reason for him to be there.

Noona tells him that she’s going to find someone to buy it. Gun Woo looks at her. She's going to sell it? Noona answers that he wanted to sell it! Gun Woo declares that he can’t sell it! He lent it to Jung Joo for the rest of her life. In a tone that commands him to stop talking nonsense, Noona says that she talked to Jung Joo about that earlier and she said that she'd leave if she gets her deposit back. When did that happen? I don’t remember that.

Gun Woo is surprised. Jung Joo said she'd leave? Matter-of-factly, Noona says that Jung Joo said she wouldn't make Gun Woo feel uncomfortable. Noona leaves. Gun Woo laughs in disbelief. Why does Jung Joo keep bringing up that word 'uncomfortable'? Because your stupid girlfriend, Dead Face Harpy, told her that she’s made your life uncomfortable. And because Jung Joo doesn’t realize that you’re not so enthralled with the wench anymore, she believed her.

Gun Woo is sitting out by the pool. He tells himself that it’s nice. Very nice. Switch to him channel surfing. And looking so bored. Cooking show. Gun Woo shuts off the TV, annoyed. Outside, Gun Woo starts pulling weeds out of the grass. He’s smiling. He catches himself and asks what he’s doing. Did he already adopt a habit of picking herbs? He stands up and wipes off his hands, but then he thinks about herbs and says to himself that the ones that he already picked should be dry by now.

Jung Joo and Poong San are talking. Poong San says that he can’t handle the town office dinner by himself. Jung Joo wonders if they should cancel then. He’s scheming. Poong San tells her not to and suggests asking Gun Woo to help out for a day? He adds that Gun Woo left some of his stuff here. I love his nose scrunch as he says: Why doesn't she take it to him and ask him? Jung Joo pretends to think about it. She fingers his apron longingly.

Jung Joo heads to the resort with the stuff and texts Gun Woo. Where is he? She glances across the pool and sees Gun Woo laughing with Dead Face Harpy. Of course. Jung Joo looks at him sadly. Gun Woo gets the text. A real smile shows up on his face. He immediately calls her. He asks if she’s at the resort? His voice says that he really hopes that she is. She tells him that she left his stuff at the front desk. She’s on her way back now. Gun Woo asks if she’s just leaving? She says that she’s so busy, she didn't even get to see his face. She quickly hangs up. She leaves the pool area without seeing Gun Woo’s reaction.

Gun Woo looks at his handphone in disbelief. Dead Face Harpy asks if that was Jung Joo. He tells her to hold on a minute and runs off. She doesn’t like that.

Jung Joo leaves the bag at the desk. She slowly walks out of the resort. Gun Woo comes running down the steps and tries to spot her, but misses her. He sighs, disappointed. He sighs again. And tries not to cry. Well, he doesn’t look quite that sad, but almost.

Back at the Warm and Cozy, Jung Joo takes out her first catch. Her eyes are glassy as she does it. She cleans and cooks them and blinks the tears. Gun Woo looks in the bag and it’s nothing important. He looks sad, missing her. Jung Joo sits at a table and makes herself eat the food that she’s made. She drinks some Soju as she does. And really tries not to cry. She’s having a hard time swallowing. But she keep going. Because she has to move on. She can’t hold it back anymore and cries. Drinks some more and keeps going.

Gun Woo sits up in bed. Sunglasses! He claps his hands with anticipation. He left them in the kitchen! He rushes over to his suitcase and starts looking. Right, he doesn't have them! He should tell her to bring them right now... and then he spots them. He throws them in the suitcase, annoyed that he doesn’t have an excuse to see her.

Handphone dings. Mayor has updated his newfeed with pictures: The first conches that Jung Joo caught herself. Gun Woo remembers that Jung Joo promised she’d give her first catch. He tells himself that that’s right. Those are his. He left those there.

Gun Woo runs into Hyung’s apartment. Hyung is watching television. Hyung is surprised and asks why Gun Woo is there. With determination, Gun Woo declares that Noona gave him a room without telling Hyung. Can he stay there? He is so wrong – but so awesome. Of course, Hyung says that he can’t. Did he ever say that Gun Woo could stay there? Gun Woo answers, “Right! I can't stay here, can I?” Then he calls Hyung cheap and says that he won't stay there! He smiles and happily waves goodbye and runs out of the room. Hyung thinks that that all was very strange.

Gun Woo arrives at the Warm and Cozy with his suitcase. He yells for Jung Joo, saying that he remembered he left something there, so he came back. And my heart is going squish! He spots the leftover shells and picks one up. What the heck? She said they were his. They're all gone! Annoyed, he throws it back on the counter. How could she use *his* catch?! He yells for her some more and spots her lying on some chairs – by the table where she ate it. She is using his apron as a blanket. Aw, especially since there’s a throw under the counter over there. She really misses him.

He walks over to her and wonders why she’s sleeping there? He notices the almost eaten catch and laughs to himself. She ate it. He notices the apron and looks for the blanket instead. Missing the fact that she’s using it because it’s his. As he comes back with the blanket, Jung Joo rolls over and falls off the chairs. Luckily Gun Woo catches her. She doesn’t wake up. As he holds her, he looks at her, moved. He asks what he should do. This feels uncomfortable. But in a good way. Not a Dead Face Harpy way.

Episode ends with her cradled in his arms.

Thoughts

One thing that struck me, when Mi Ra was talking to Noona and she compared Gun Woo’s parents to Gatsby and Daisy in The Great Gatsby is the idea that this what came after. After Gatsby was shot dead and Daisy went on with her life, these are the children that she had… Now that’s a thought, considering how messed up each of them is, in their love lives. But it would make sense why this was at one time called Jeju Gatsby, if Gun Woo’d parents are Gatsby and Daisy. I hope that’s the case, instead of trying to fit the characters that we’re interacting with into The Great Gatsby storyline. And actually, that’s a more provocative use of the story… an examination of the legacy that those characters left behind.

It really makes sense, in the sense of what we know about both of Gun Woo’s parents. His father is described as someone rich, but the worst one of all. And that’s how the ultra-rich would see someone like Gatsby, because he wasn’t born rich, just pretended to be. The newspaper clipping that asks if his mother was a happy or tragic woman. Depending on how you knew her, that could apply to Daisy. And that would really be a legacy to leave her children with… So I’m really liking this idea.

I also am really happy with where the story is at right now. Gun Woo is starting to act his age and Jung Joo is starting to not live like she’s begging him to like her. Which is great, because Gun Woo is finally starting to like her, so her standoffishness is going to help him realize where is heart is truly at. And as soon as he figures it out he needs to tell her! Because right now, he’s declared that he’s going to be Dead Face Harpy’s whipping boy forever, for the rest of his life! Jung Joo doesn’t think that she has any kind of chance with him, so he better correct that notion, or she’s going to break and give up.

Mayor will be right there to pick up the pieces, too! Not that he isn’t a great guy – although he scratches his head way too much – but he isn’t the right guy for Jung Joo. One of the reasons why she and Gun Woo are good together is because they push each other’s buttons. They call each other higher. They need each other and the Mayor doesn’t need anyone. He’s good on his own. And even though he’s interested in her – because Jung Joo is awesome! – he hasn’t wanted to get married at all. And I think that Gun Woo, if Dead Face Harpy had taken the bait, would have married the wench a long time ago.

I love that Poong San is playing matchmaker. He knows that they like each other and is pushing them towards each other. He does it in such a covert way, too. Noona, I can’t handle cooking. Why don’t you ask Hyung? Hyung, are you sure that you’re just being nice to Noona because she’s sick?

I love, too, that you see how much Gun Woo has grown through how bored he was with his old life. Before, he would have loved being to do nothing by the pool or to zone out in front of the television, but now? He’s pulling weeds and enjoying it. He wracked his brain to come up with an excuse for why he had to go back to the Warm and Cozy. I love how he ran in, all excited, and busted himself with Hyung. That’s right! I can’t stay here! Because you’re cheap! Bye!

It annoys me that Noona just let herself be manipulated like that. It doesn’t surprise me at all that Dead Face Harpy did it, it just annoys me that Noona fell for it. I love, though, that Hyung isn’t going to fall for it.

Poor Jung Joo and how minimalized she feels in Gun Woo’s life. She doesn’t really see that she means a lot to him. Instead, she believed Dead Face Harpy’s words that she made his life uncomfortable. I really how that Gun Woo figures it out, so he can strongly dispel that idea from Jung Joo’s head. How long are we going to have to put up with Dead Face Harpy?

And, I wonder why Noona was so freaked out that Mi Ra is planning on doing a book on Gun Woo’s parents. Does she and Hyung know who the dad is? Does Gun Woo? It seems like he doesn’t know his father’s identity, but it’s almost like Noona and Hyung both do know it. I’m glad that it’s happening, because it’s going to get us to finding out the answer to the mystery, but it really makes me wonder who the father is…

My thoughts switch to Hyung and Hae Shil. Man, if I was interested in the man, I would be turned off by how he acts, so confident in his awesomeness and me being under his spell, when he hasn’t done anything to brag about. The audience knows that he had every reason to know that he’s this great of a catch, but the fact that he’s so convinced about being God’s gift to women is really a turn off. I hope Hae Shil stays strong. It looks like she’s going to find out the truth next episode. And that Dead Face Harpy is going to find out the truth about Gun Woo’s misconception about Jung Joo’s illness. You know she’s going to use it to make Jung Joo look bad… Ugh! I hate the Dead Face Harpy!
