Sweet Stranger and Me Episode 7 Recap

Our episode begins right where it left off: Nan Gil and Na Ri in her room, her bags packed, Nan Gil pretending that he’s happy that she’s leaving. Na Ri asking if the Nan Gil of the present likes her now. Nan Gil takes a step forward and reaches up like he’s going to cup her face.

Logic Na Ri appears, dressed in black, and declares that this is too fast... No.These ideas about timing are a result of human's biases. Think about all the things she and Nan Gil been through together. He would be embarrassed to say he likes her.

Nan Gil’s hand gets really close to her face and then… pushes aside her bangs to pull off a piece of cucumber stuck to her forehead. Why would he move that slowly if he was just going after a piece of cucumber?! He asks what it is. She clears her throat and says that it’s no big deal. Something just stuck on her. Nan Gil is considering the cucumber and asks she was doing a facial. He leans in closer and says that it doesn’t look like anything changed. What a slam! He’s so wrong, especially since he keeps pointing out her wrinkles.

She leans backward and tells him not to try to change the subject. He tells her that she’s right. He’s remembered her a long time and he still likes her. I am really surprised he just admitted that. What is he planning? Na Ri looks at him with a stunned look. Like he’s talking about cleaning gutters – Nan Gil says that it’s like a beautiful memory. Meeting in your hometown and liking someone? He doesn’t know the Hong Na Ri that lives in Seoul and he doesn’t don't want to know her. Ow, that was cold. And he is so lying. Na Ri’s face says that she doesn’t like it, either. He says that he doesn't like her, miss her, or long for her. He thinks of her as a stranger. And he is so lying!

She asks him what he’s talking about. The her that is here and the her in Seoul... they’re different?  He answer that of course they are. The Na Ri that is here is Omeoni’s daughter and the Hong Na Ri that he's liked for a long time. But the Hong Na Ri in Seoul is someone he doesn’t know at all. Na Ri can’t believe the nonsense he’s saying. But, does he understand what he’s talking about right now? She doesn’t understand any of it. He replies that he’s not interested in anyone who is not Omeoni’s daughter. Which is and forever will be Na Ri. Just because Oma is dead, doesn’t stop Na Ri from being her daughter. Oh, Nan Gil. But it’s almost giving her a lifeline – because he is saying that he still likes her.

Nan Gil adds that from now on, he hopes she doesn't come there. He and his employees are all men, so it's uncomfortable. He starts to walk away and Na Ri grabs his arm. So close to being out of there. Vengeance Na Ri in her track suit and banded pig tails asks if he’s saying he’s not interested at all? Think about all that he’s done! Nan Gil has no reaction. From years of practice living with Director. Na Ri lists things that say otherwise: He carried her and ran, came to look for her in Seoul, consoled her when she was hurt, took care of her when she was hurt, and even acted like her Appa when he thought she would be in trouble. Playing with people emotions... and she’s the only one who was fooled? If it was just her... She lets go of Nan Gil’s arm and crosses hers, muttering to herself that it's so embarrassing!

Back to reality, Nan Gil looks down at her hand on his arm. Na Ri’s not saying anything. He tells that, if she has nothing to say, she should let him go. Na Ri jerks her head with a reaction to his words and then says that she still has something to say. Because he’s still confessing that he likes the her that is here. Why, yes, you did, Nan Gil. Nan Gil blinks a couple of times and asks, “Confess?” She repeats it: Yeah, he just confessed. So, now he just has to get to know the Hong Na Ri from Seoul. She’ll call him often. And even though Nan Gil is not reacting – he’s still reacting. He looks a little unsettled, standing there looking at her.

Na Ri adds about how she’s looking at the others feeling uncomfortable around her: She understands the beautiful meaning behind "uncomfortable." Being uncomfortable means you like her and care for her. Uncomfortably, Nan Gil smiles and says that he doesn’t think that's right. Sure of it now, she replies that she’s right. Nan Gil doesn’t not look happy. His plan was so perfect: treat her coldly and she’ll go home to Seoul and be out of harm’s way.

Downstairs, someone’s knocking and yelling for Mr. Go Nan Gil. Is he home? Outside, the policemen are at Nan Gil’s door. Duk Bong asks them what they’re doing. Do they have a warrant? They ignore him and pound on the door some more. Duk Bong adds that he’s Nan Gil’s *lawyer.* They have a lot of issues, so I'm representing them. This gets their attention. He asks again what the problem is. They shouldn't just come barging in like that.

Detective asks if Duk Bong is Nan Gil’s lawyer. As Duk Bong answers that he is, Detective comes down the stairs and asks where Nan Gil is. Duk Bong repeats that he wants to know what this is about.

Nan Gil and Na Ri come out of the house. Detective asks him if he’s Mr. Go Nan Gil. Before Nan Gil can answer that he is – and he was about to – Duk Bong tells Nan Gil not to answer Detective. I love that he cut Nan Gil off, because he knows Nan Gil would have said yes. Nan Gil doesn’t say anything. Detective asks if Duk Bong is their lawyer. Nan Gil starts to answer in the negative when Na Ri jumps in and says that Duk Bong is their lawyer. Nan Gil gives her a look. She asks what’s going on.

Detective says that Uncle has reported that Mr. Go Nan Gil has threatened, used physical force, and kidnapped him. Na Ri’s surprised and Yong Kyu is starting to freak out. Detective says that they have some things to investigate, so why don't they come down to the station with them. Na Ri says that Shin Jung Nam is... her uncle. They’ve been looking for him. But who did they say threatened Uncle?

Down at the police station, Nan Gil sits with Duk Bong, looking sullen. Detective says that it looks like Nan Gil has a record. Nan Gil doesn’t respond. Duk Bong’s been looking at the report. He says that the allegations in the suit are pretty shabby. It doesn't even have the location of the incident or the details of any injury. On top of that, his client did not leave Seulgi-ri during this period of time.

Nan Gil asks if he can meet with the suer, Shin Jung Nam. Duk Bong says, “Bingo.” That's right! Looks like he knows a thing or two about the law. Duk Bong starting to smile. He asks Detective if they can have a meeting. If Uncle’s side refuses the meeting, can they report the suer as missing? He knows who has him – I’m wondering if he’s worried for Uncle, if only for Na Ri’s sake. Detective is surprised at that question. Nan Gil replies that he’s been in close contact with Shin Jung Nam, but recently, Uncle’s phone has been turned off. So, he’s been worried about Uncle.

Back in the Director’s office Wan Shik reports that Go Nan Gil's investigation has ended, and they reported Shin Jung Nam as missing. Director is sitting with his eyes closed. Without opening them he replies that he predicted that already. There's no need for him to know all the small things. He tells Wan Shik to go on to the next plan.

Wan Shik adds that they say that Go Nan Gil has a lawyer and he went to the police station with him. This gets Director to open his eyes. He sits up and looks at Wan Shik. A lawyer? He tells Wan Shik to find out about that lawyer. Wan Shik looks a little uncomfortable here. Find out how long he's been with Go Nan Gil and what their relationship is.

Driving back from the police station, Duk Bong wonders why Uncle would make such an unfounded claim like this? Nan Gil answers that he’s sure that Dada Finance put Uncle up to it... in order to create a police record. Again Duk Bong says, “Bingo.” Why the bingo? If Nan Gil has a previous conviction and police record, he’ll look like a criminal, and it'll be disadvantageous for him in court. In effect, they are preparing a trial for him.

Duk Bong mentions that according to Dada Finance records, Nan Gil was listed under a different name. A client should not have any secrets from his lawyer. What’s his connection to Dada Finance? Nan Gil – still looking out the window – says that Dada Finance’s CEO was his adopted father. Adopted father? Adopted father in which those people say, "hyung nim, hyung nim?" Nan Gil replies that it wasn’t. He wasn’t officially adopted until he was 16. He looked a lot younger than that when Director took him away. Duk Bong asks if he’s not still now? Nan Gil – still looking out the window – says that it was dissolved. Duk Bong processes that one.

Na Ri is anxiously waiting for them outside. Nan Gil gets out of the car and walks to stand in front of him. She asks what they said. Did Uncle really report him? Is Uncle still not answering the phone? Nan Gil answers that Uncle sued him, and he reported Uncle missing. She tells him that he did well. She mentions the threat she over heard (the night she saw his tattoo). That time, that phone call... Nan Gil said, "I can't guarantee what will happen to you, even if you are her Uncle."  The unmoving Nan Gil’s ears just twitched.

Na Ri says that even she thinks it sounds like a threat. Did Uncle record it? Doesn't he have to tell those things to his lawyer? Duk Bong says that Nan Gil has to: tell everything to his lawyer. Nan Gil’s eyes haven’t left Na Ri’s face. He says that it was a call he made from his room. How did she hear it? Na Ri hesitate and he screams at her that he’s asking her! How did she hear it? Duk Bong tells Nan Gil to chill. They should not get overly emotional.

Duk Bong tries to continue but Na Ri interrupts him, saying that she just listened. It was dark, so I just listed to the phone conversation. Nan Gil does not look like he believes her. And he looks hurt that she overheard him. Duk Bong suggests that he and Na Ri have a planning meeting. Just the two of them. There are things that she needs to know as well. Nan Gil looks over at Duk Bong, shooting daggers, and walks inside without saying anything.

Inside, Joon and Han Yi are in the kitchen, still dressed in their cook uniforms. Yong Kyu is in his street clothes. He holds out some food – tofu and seaweed? – and tells Nan Gil to eat. His face looks like he’s desperate to make Nan Gil feel better. Nan Gil tells him not to mess around with the ingredients. Yong Kyu points to Joon and Han Yi and says that they are dumpling lovers. No doubt about it. When Nan Gil taken by the police, those two were just making dumplings. Yong Kyu says he loves humans. Nan Gil sighs for patience.

Yong Kyu tells him that if there are things they need to know about each other, Nan Gil should tell him. Nan Gil asks what Yong Kyu’s going to do if he doesn't tell him. Leave? Yong Kyu points at Nan Gil, offended. He tells Nan Gil not to abuse his power. He whines and wiggles and tells Nan Gil to let them in on what is going on. Nan Gil points to something on the floor, saying that Yong Kyu dropped it and leaves the room. Heh.

Na Ri is looking at the Dada Finance org chart on Duk Bong’s phone. Nan Gil’s picture with the name: Director Bae Byung Suk. She processes this and puts the phone down. She says that the fact that Nan Gil grew up in an orphanage and was adopted by somone like this - they are all things he couldn't control. Duk Bong agrees. He’s not trying to judge the president of Hong Dumplings. He’s just letting her know.

Na Ri says that she’s sure that Nan Gil knows they’re talking about this right now. Duk Bong agrees. Na Ri says that she’s sure his ears are itching and his back feels prickly. Then she changes her mind: No, he's not like that. Duk Bong asks if he has to considerate of the President of Hong Dumplings’ ears. He asks when Na Ri’s going Seoul?  She says that it’s soon. Does she want him to give her a ride? She looks at him, surprised.

Duk Bong gets a little uncomfortable. He chuckles and asks if he said something too sweet all of a sudden. He tries to recover: He’s just saying, does she want to go with him since he’s going anyway? Na Ri announces that Duk Bong should include Go Nan Gil in the planning meetings. Duk Bong shouldn’t it with just the two of them.

Duk Bong and Na Ri move into the restaurant diving area. Nan Gil is seated next to Na Ri with his arms crossed. He is not happy. Na Ri isn’t looking at him, either. It’ s like they’ve had a lover’s spat and neither wants to apologize first. Which, they kind of did have one. Duk Bong tells them that no matter how you look at it, no one would believe they are daughter and stepfather. He’ll lose to Dada if it goes to trial. They'll rule the marriage registration papers void by saying that the marriage itself is a fake, then charge Nan Gil with fraud and conclude that it's Hong Na Ri's inheritance as the daughter instead of Nan Gil and take it all.

Nan Gil replies that Dada Finance can't beat them. Both the marriage registration and adoption dissolution documents are perfect. Duk Bong sighs. Nan Gil says that there are no signs of it being forced either. Duk Bong asks if that’s really so. In order not to lose the case, they both have to do a really good job at pretending to be family. They'll have to have a perfect father-daughter relationship on paper that's not forced and leaves no room for suspicion.

Nan Gil says that from what he knows, attorney fees are really expensive. Will Duk Bong be okay doing this for free every time? It’s not like Duk Bong *needs* the money. Plus, he doesn’t want Dada Finance to get the land either. That would really screw up his construction project. Duk Bong agrees that that’s what he’s saying. Nan Gil’s holding out saying that he’s not going to sell the land, so he thought about why he's doing this for free. He looks over at Na Ri and asks if she’ll date him. What?! But he’s clever and crafty. A perfectly good business reason for this: it would be why he was doing it for free: his girlfriend’s dad. Na Ri doesn’t quite follow. He expounds: Not as neighborhood friends, but as a closer... boyfriend? Nan Gil looks away. He really doesn’t like that idea. He looks a little sick to his stomach.

Na Ri protests for Duk Bong to wait. Why is he saying that all of a sudden? Duk Bong replies that it seems like this stepfather of hers finds it really burdensome for Duk Bong to act as their attorney free of charge. Looking at Nan Gil, he says that he’s revealing that he actually has an ulterior motive. Nan Gil replies that it’s not something you should say so suddenly. Na Ri had a really hard time after she sent Omeoni off. He doesn’t think she's back to normal yet either. She looks over at him. Nan Gil says therefore, he’s saying… start slowly, seriously, and carefully. Oh, Nan Gil is killing me! Neither Na Ri or Duk Bong was expecting Nan Gil to say that.

Duk Bong remarks that the atmosphere's really weird since Hong Dumplings’ Boss suddenly started acting all serious. Nan Gil stands up and asks if Duk Bong’s family circumstances are good. If they are, then he agrees to it. Na Ri definitely doesn’t like that. Appa voice on now, Nan Gil asks Na Ri if she didn’t hear what Mr. Attorney said? They have to maintain their familial relationship. They’re not in the type of relationship where she can just call his name like that. Nan Gil walks out of the room. Probably to go cry somewhere.

Na Ri walks Duk Bong out. She tells him that Duk Shim called her Octopus Legs. It's understandable that Duk Shim would misunderstand. Why did he suddenly say something like that? Duk Bong replies that he forgot that Na Ri’s having a hard time because she acts so brave all the time. But he’s not saying this out of the blue. When he talk with her, it's interesting and funny. Little smile slips onto his face. Also, when she scolded his dongsaeng, she was wise, smart, and pretty. She shone brightly. Again with the little smile. Na Ri doesn’t respond.

Duk Bong announces that that’s why he wants to date her. Na Ri says nothing. He smiles again and asks if he spoke too sweetly? Wow, he still so conceited! Heh. Either way, they should get closer than they are now. Na Ri replies that she’ll have to write this down in her diary. She’s wise, smart, pretty, and shone brightly. That's the best compliment she’s heard recently. Thank you. But she still doesn't have any intentions to date anyone yet.

Duk Bong isn’t deterred. He tells her to think about how it would be if she dated a man named Kwon Duk Bong. But she wants to date a man named Go Nan Gil. Na Ri shakes her head and says that she still can't do that yet. Because she wants to date Go Nan Gil. Duk Bong tells her that she could just say, "I'll think about it." Why does she have to say she won't even think about it once? To the person who gave her the best compliment she’s heard recently. She answers that her head is full of other stuff. If she says "I'll think about it," he’ll wait for the answer, right? Duk Bong says that he won't tell her to give him an answer, so if she has some time left over, then think about it then. He leaves.

Yeo Joo is looking at dossiers of eligible men. Matchmaker? She says that she’s met a lot of people in three years. She’s done her part as a member very well, right? She tells Matchmaker that she’ll introduce Matchmaker to one of her hoobaes. She has hoobaes? Matchmaker gushes that she’d be so thankful! Matchmaker tells Yeo Joo that the person that she said she’s dating before, Jo Dong Jin, he registered for a VIP account a few days ago. Yeo Joo is surprised. Matchmaker says that the first condition was the woman's household: money.

Yeo Joo smiles, uncomfortable, and says that Dong Jin’s mother could have registered him because she doesn't know about them yet. Matchmaker laughs nervously and agrees that that must be the reason. There are a lot of cases like that, aren't there? Yeo Joo says that she’ll have to ask Oppa. Matchmaker is chipper and Yeo Joo acts like there’s nothing wrong, but as soon as she gets up from the table, she looks worried.

Na Ri is setting up a meeting with a halmeoni that she missed because of her bike accident. She’s still ruminating on what Nan Gil said: He agrees as long as that family circumstances are good?! She gets a text from Nan Gil: Come to the lake! Uh-oh. Time for some truth.

Nan Gil is sitting on their bench. When she sits he asks about that phone call. She saw him getting undressed too, right? He’s looking at the lake. Na Ri squirms and says that if someone heard this, they'd misunderstand. He asks why, after seeing that and hearing why he threatened Uncle, does she still trust him. She looks at him and asks if he’s really arguing about why she trusts him right now?

Nan Gil announces that she’s actually scared of what he did to become a legend. But why did she ask him if she’s his first love and if he still likes her? He’s looking at her. She refuses to look at him and asks what he wants to say. Nan Gil looks out at the lake again and sighs. Living together under the same roof and pretending to be family doesn't suit them. They’ve lived such different lives. He likes it the way it was. All he has to do is solve this problem. So, until then, forget this place and him and just live her life.

Na Ri asks what he’s going to do once he’s takes care of everything. That makes his stone-face fall. He blinks several times and says that since it's Omeoni’s land, he’ll give it to her and leave if she asks him to. She asks what he’s going to do if she sells the land around the lake and the forest as soon as it becomes hers? They look at each other. He tells her that he believes that she won't. Na Ri tells him not to believe in her. If protecting the land is his goal, then don't ever leave and keep protecting it.

She says that it’s possible that they lived really different lives and don't suit each other. But she'll choose whether she trusts him or not. Nan Gil’s starting to look miserable. He tells her to do what she wants then. But leave this place.

Na Ri asks if that’s the reason that he’s been pushing her away with all her might? Because they’ve lived too differently and don't suit each other? It’s the lake so you can’t lie! Nan Gil doesn’t move, but continues to stare out at the lake. I think he’s holding his breath, he’s being so still. Na Ri sighs sadly. Does he know how much she liked it here? She likes it so much that she didn't want to go back to Seoul. Nan Gil still doesn’t move. But I so want him to swoop over and kiss her.

Na Ri says that she felt like he was a gift to mom and she was almost thankful to her father for his debt. But why does he want her to forget about it and not come every time something happens? What is he so scared of when they haven't even started yet? He snaps at her: Start what? Why is she so unafraid? She doesn't even know how he’s lived up to this point or who he is! Yes, she does. It’s shown up in the little things you’ve done.

He sighs and looks out at the water again. He made a promise with Omeoni. His feelings for her ended then. Na Ri says that that’s he made on his own. Stop saying that it was a promise he made with Oma. The Oma she knew wouldn't have decided that they’re too different and don't suit each other.

Nan Gil answers that he knows. Na Ri’s surprised. He knows? He adds that if Omeoni were alive, he would have never shown up in front of her. Like he’d done his whole life ever since he was younger. And it's not because Omeoni would have opposed it. It's him that won't do it. He gets up and leaves. And that was a confession… Rip out my heart.

Duk Bong enters Duk Shim’s room She yells at him for it and shuts her laptop. More pictures of Nan Gil, probably. Duk Bong checks himself out in her mirror. He tells her to come down. Abeoji is arriving soon. Duk Shim’s posture changes immediately from slouched to stiff-backed. She tells him to tell Abeoji that she’s not there. Duk Bong is adjusting his tie like this is no big deal. He says that Abeoji is coming to pick her up. She needs to pack her stuff. Duk Shim looks at him, eyes wide. She looks scared.

Duk Bong says that there won't be any reason for them to see each other from now on, so he’s going to turn this room into a storage room as soon as she leaves. She asks for them to negotiate! Duk Bong asks what he’d get out of her if he negotiates. Duk Shim says that she’ll write an apology to that woman. More preening as Duk Bong says that it’s her and Na Ri's problem. She says that she’ll get close to Na Ri and spill everything about Na Ri to him. Duk Bong tells her that her use of vocabulary is seriously pitiful.

He agrees to negotiate. What is that she wants? Him to make it to where she doesn't have to go to Seoul. Duk Bong declares that that’s impossible. End of negotiation. She says that she’ll make it where it's not impossible, so don't touch this room. Duk Bong looks at her, tells her to change her clothes and come out.

Outside, Duk Bong and Soon Rye wait with a bunch of employees. Duk Bong asks why Abeoji always comes without notice, like a secret Royal Inspector. Soon Rye didn't purposely not tell him, right? Soon Rye asks what she would gain from doing that. Sarcastically she tells him that he’s so disconcerting. Duk Shim comes out wearing a yellow jumpsuit that looks like it was once worn by Bruce Lee.

Duk Bong tells Duk Shim to hurry and come on. Instead of going to stand next to him – like he asked – she stands with the rest of the employees. Duk Bong sighs. Chairman arrives. Duk Bong gives him a waist-deep bow. Soon Rye bows as well. Chairman’s mother emerges – and she’s probably half Dad’s age. She ushers his youngest brother out of the car – the kid is all of about 4 years old. Wow, I can see the family politics playing out now. I do not trust this woman one bit. Despite how pleasantly she smiles.

The Chairman tells Duk Bong that he doesn't even have that many employees. No need for all of them to come and stand here. Duk Bong replies that’s why they’re all there (because it’s such a small group). The Chairman laughs and slaps Duk Bong on the arm. He seems a lot more amiable than what I expected. Duk Bong looks uncomfortable.

The Chairman greets Soon Rye and moves on to the other employees. Stepmom says that Duk Bong’s doing well, right? He doesn't come to Seoul at all these days. He replies, pleasantly, that he's been busy. He leans down and asks his brother if he’s been doing okay? Brother nods that he has. Duk Bong gives him a smile and an affectionate pat on the head. Aw, that looks genuine. I think he definitely can separate the issues with his ‘parents’ from his siblings. And he doesn’t seem to have any ill will towards his dongsaeng which his Stepmom is probably going to angle to take away some of Duk Bong’s stake in the company.

The Chairman reaches Duk Shim. He holds out his hand, treating her like an employee. She looks at it, surprised. He’s smiling. Stepmom sees this and hurries over, telling the Chairman that he must have forgotten how her youngest daughter looks. I don’t think he forgot. He’s humoring her. He looks at Stepmom with less of a smile and asks if he’s about to die or something? She's not greeting her own father first.

Duk Shim takes her cue and greets him: she clasps her fist in front of her, addresses him as Chairman, and asks if he’s been healthy, while giving him a servantly bow. Stepmom is horrified but the Chairman breaks out into laughter. He gives Duk Shim a hard slap on her arm, too. Stepmom gives her a disapproving face and walks by with a withering glare. Duk Shim gives her mother’s back a rebellious face and Duk Bong chuckles, shaking his head.

Na Ri is sitting with one of the town halmeonis, helping her to make dumplings. Na Ri compliments them and halmeoni answers that she’s sick and tired of them now. She’s doing it so that guy can learn. She head gestures towards a man sitting playing a handheld game. But he doesn't learn a thing. He's always playing that game.

Na Ri is talking to her because she’s been at their shop since before she was born. Halmeoni comments that the shop was much smaller back then. All the kids that were around then gotten married, but her slacker son still plays around even now. What a lame-o. She should kick him out instead of feeding him. Na Ri sympathizes.

Halmeoni says that children are beings that exist to worry their parents. She and her dad also worried Oma quite a bit. Back then, Oma seemed like she would just curl up and die. Na Ri’s surprised to hear that. Oma did? Because of me and Abeoji? Halmeoni says that Abeoji left and took Na Ri with him and didn't come back for several months. Na Ri’s surprised to hear this. Halmeoni says that Abeoji just played around his whole life just like her son. But Halmeoni has no idea where they went. She heard they were traveling all over the country in luxury.  Abeoji probably came back because he ran out of money. After that, her parents’ relationship fell apart. Understandable. Take all the money and kidnap the daughter. That would do it.

Slacker son brings Na Ri some dumplings. He comments on her use of jondae with him. He says that he used to hang out at Hong Dumplings a lot. Halmeoni comments that he played around then, too. He clears his throat and asks that Na Ri thank Nan Gil for him. After he changed out the steamer for them, it's gotten so much easier. Na Ri’s surprised they know Nan Gil, but they answer – in unison – that, of course, they do.

Back at Hong Dumplings, the place is hopping. Yong Kyu is surprised Na Ri is still there. She apologizes if she’s made them uncomfortable all this time. Yong Kyu scoffs at that and tells her to come anytime. He could just be being polite, but knowing Yong Kyu, he’s not and really means it. She gives Joon and Yong Kyu a smile before going in to talk to Nan Gil. He’s going to love that, especially because he’s working.

She tells Nan Gil to go and change into his best clothes. He points out that he’s working. Na Ri says that she met the halmeoni who used to work there. If he knew where Halmeoni was, he should have told her about it beforehand. Why did he make her work so hard to find it? He replies that she said that she’d work on her own. He looks so much better when he’s smiling. He’s frowning now.

Na Ri says that he’s right. She works well even when she’s alone. That's why there's somewhere they need to go together. It's a place that requires one to show respect. She’ll be back after changing her clothes. She’s asking him, please.

Robot Museum. Duk Shim is sitting with her mother. Duk Bong is with their father. The Chairman asks what Duk Bong’s been doing that he still hasn’t taken care of the land issue? Ah, and here’s the real Chairman. Duk Bong doesn’t say anything. Chairman says that this is why his older brothers laugh at him. He has older brothers? It really must be him and his sister against the rest of the family. He must really care about her to take her in, even if he acts like he doesn’t. Duk Bong sighs – that kind of sigh where your parents are giving you a hard time with a lecture that you’ve heard many times before, one where you know you just have to sit through it because arguing is only going to make it last longer.

Chairman starts to scold him, saying that people always act like they'll do this and that for him. He should just arrange for a dozen of different house plans and show them around. Is he doing what I think he’s doing? Telling Duk Bong to deceive people to get what he wants? No wonder Duk Bong is sighing. And it makes me like Duk Bong all the more, because he wants to do things honestly rather than his father’s way. Stop wasting time, and build it quickly. Duk Bong answers that this is exactly why they’re called the worst resort company. Chairman scoffs at them being called a resort company. In the olden days they would have called this a hostel operation. Duk Bong sighs again as Chairman orders him to stop dragging it out and take care of it within the month.

Duk Shim is faring no better. She’s sitting with her chin in her hand. Stepmom says that she doesn't expect Duk Shim to take this year's college entrance exam, so she should graduate in Seoul. Stepmom has arranged a private school for tutoring for the entrance exam. Duk Shim answers that she’s not going to college. Stepmom doesn’t like that answer. And she’s giving Stepmom the same attitude she gave Na Ri. Hmmm…. Stepmom tells her that there's no need for her to even pack her things. She leans in and, smiling and with venom, she says that all she has to is drag Duk Shim out by the ends of her hair. Is Duk Shim going to make her go this far?

Duk Shim smiles and leans in. She tells Stepmom to consider carefully. It would be better for Stepmom if she kept living there quietly. If she goes Seoul, she’s going to cause a huge fuss. Stepmom’s mouth opens in shock at Duk Shim’s attitude. Duk Shim says that she’ll cause problems every day. She could even become a juvenile delinquent and get put in detention. She mimics having her wrists in handcuffs. Stepmom blinks rapidly, her mouth still hanging open. She huffs.

Duk Shim looks at her dongsaeng and tells Stepmom to raise him well. Stepmom gives Duk Shim a glare. Chairman and Duk Bong come over to the table. Stepmom immediately puts on a pleasing face. Chairman declares that time is money. They should leave now. Pleasantly, Stepmom says that Duk Shim said that she'll go next time. It seems that Duk Shim studies well here because it's quiet. Duk Bong looks over at Duk Shim. She looks like she hates how her mother is, with all her games. Stepmom tells Duk Bong to take care of Duk Shim well. She's his dongsaeng. Duk Bong nods – did I detect a slight smile? Duk Shim mouths at him: What are you looking at? She motions like she’s going to punch him. He mouths back for her to be quiet.

Na Ri’s outside the restaurant waiting for Nan Gil. He comes out. His face looks a bit anxious. She tells him that he looks a little uncomfortable and he should go change into something else. He looks at his clothes and asks where they’re going. Na Ri says that it’s not somewhere he has to dress up that much. He nods and heads back inside.

Nan Gil comes out in something much more casual. Na Ri nixes that outfit. He comes out in something else. Nope. Fourth outfit and no. Nan Gil groans and heads back inside. Why doesn’t she just go pick out his clothes for him? The boys have stopped and are watching the entertainment. Nan Gil comes out in a white turtleneck, camel jacket and jeans. He waits for inspection. Na Ri smiles and tells him that he passes.

They wait at the bus stop. What is with his pants being rolled up that high? Nan Gil asks where they’re going. Again. Na Ri replies that Halmeoni’s son says that he’s thankful because the steamer is much more convenient now. He sighs. So where are they going? You don’t have to go, you know. But you do, because you like her and want to please her. Na Ri ignores the question by being excited that the bus is coming.

Now on the bus, Nan Gil declares that he’s asking for the last time. He’ll get off if she doesn't answer. Where are they going? Na Ri declares that they should go on a date from now until midnight. A planned-out Cinderella date that ends when the clock strikes twelve and everything goes back to it's original place. He asks her what she’s saying all of a sudden. Like he doesn’t want to go. I roll my eyes. But maybe he doesn’t because he knows it will only make him like her more.

Na Ri says that the main characters in today's movies and novels all go on a trip for several hours. They should follow the trend too! She says that he said he’s ended his feelings. She’s turning that time back a little bit. Until the clock strikes twelve, they are lovers who just started dating. Nan Gil looks away. Is that a small smile I see? Na Ri says that they grew up in the same neighborhood, so he knows Oma and the neighborhood streets well. ‘Slowly, Little by Little’ starts to play.

♬ Slowly, little by little, love you ♬

Na Ri says that they know each other's nicknames, played perfect pranks on each other.

♬ I’ll take a step to you, love you ♬

And he stuck gum on her shoe– Nan Gil adamantly protests that he said it wasn’t him!

♬ Closer ♬

Na Ri continues that he gave her his umbrella on a rainy day, while he got soaking wet.

♬ Never thought about it before ♬

They have a relationship full of pretty memories.

♬ You and I, just the two of us ♬

And they became adults apart from each other.

♬ Just us two, forever us two ♬

Then they met again at their hometown.

♬ I want to live here with you ♬

They still really like each other even after they met again.

♬ It’s just a small wish ♬

So today, they decided to have their first date.

♬  You still don't know  ♬

He’s got it? He understands, right? They’re starting!

Stoically, he asks what Halmeoni said. Na Ri counters that she told him she would tell him at home after the 12 o'clock bell tolls. Start! He frowns at her and she ignores him.

Pretending like they barely know each other, she says, “Go Nan Gil, I heard that you're the boss of a dumpling shop. Your shop is really nice.” He replies that she knows all of that. What the heck is she doing? Boy, he’s being stubborn. She snaps at him that you ask things like this when you first start dating! Going back to her sweet voice, she says that his dumpling shop is bigger than she thought it would be. Does he have any plans on making it a franchise? She’s got a little bit of aegyo voice going.

He asks her what’s wrong with her voice? He is leaning away from her, like she’s acting really weird and he doesn’t want to catch it. She snaps at him to just cooperate! He snaps back that he can't do that because of his personality! Back to the aegyo voice: What was his dream when he was younger? He’s getting really frustrated and says, louder, that he doesn't remember! She answers that she remembers it. His dream was to marry Hong Na Ri when he became an adult. Right? He looks at her a little surprised.

Flashback to Halmeoni and her slacker son. Slacker son says that he and Nan Gil were the same age, so he played with Nan Gil a lot when he was a baby. Halmeoni says that son played with children so well. He played with anyone regardless of age. Na Ri chuckles. Son gives an ‘aigoo’ and says that rascal Nan Gil said that he would fight the kids that bullied her. So he taught Nan Gil how to do that exactly right. Son laughs and mentions the umbrella and Nan Gil getting drenched in the rain.

Son says that he told Nan Gil to draw what his dream was, and Nan Gil drew that it was to get married to Hong Na Ri. He chuckles. Son says that he told Nan Gil to redraw it as the boss of the dumpling restaurant. But then his dream really came true. The restaurant part. So far. Aigoo, if he had known it would turn out like this, he would have told Nan Gil to draw himself president. Na Ri smiles to herself.

Back on the bus, they look at each other. Na Ri says that they should go back to that time. They should go back to that time that he dreamed of. And I’m getting a little verklempt. How is he holding out?! Nan Gil replies that he was young then, and he thought that was the only way that he could become Omeoni’s family. There was no other meaning? Na Ri looks out the window and tells him that he doesn’t have to explain himself. They said he didn't draw it just once or twice. She knows she’s got him. He stops arguing.

They get off the bus. He tells her to give him her bag. When she asks why, he says that when you’re on a date, isn't the man supposed to hold the bag or something? She smiles and says, “Mr. Go Nan Gil, this is perfect according to the dating code.” Next time, when she’s holding something heavy, he can carry it for her. Even though he’s already carrying a big burden for her. He responds that it’s not a burden and walk ahead of them.

Dong Jin and Yeo Joo are in his car, driving. Really? Did we have to ruin this episode with more of the Yeo Joo saga? I won’t bore you. Yeo Joo is ticked. Dong Jin tells her that she shouldn’t be upset today, because he’s taking her to introduce her formally to all his friends. She changes her attitude.

Na Ri and Nan Gil at a restaurant. Na Ri’s snapping pictures of the restaurant. Then of Nan Gil. I wish she would turn off the shutter sound. She shoves it in his face, saying that it turned out nicely. He leans backward, still frowning. She ignores it. Isn't this a really awesome place? When they were young, in their neighborhood, there wasn't a place like this. Nan Gil sighs and says that he’ll do whatever she wants, so can she just go back to her normal voice? Heh. He hates the aegyo. Heh.

She verifies that he’s going to do anything she wants? He nods, He’s going to eat, drink, and go to norebang, right? Karaoke is fun. The remotes are crazy, though! It might help if you read Korean. He grumbles, asking what kind of a date is like a 3-course meal? She snaps at him that there aren't many things they can do before midnight. There's a reason for everything. They get closer while eating, hold hands while drinking, and at the norebang, during the last song, they will kis– She stops and puts her hands over her mouth. Nan Gil can’t help but laugh. To himself. Trying not to make a sound.

Ug! More Yeo Joo. Dong Jin holds Yeo Joo’s hand while they walk into a restaurant. He’s giving disclaimers on his friends. They grumble at him for being late. One of them calls her Na Ri. Oops. Yeo Joo doesn’t like any of them, but acts like she does, particularly because Dong Jin says they’re his best friends. Lots of aegyo going and they fall for it.

The food has arrived. Na Ri says that she was trying to figure out what to do on their first date, so I looked up "first date" on the internet. First date outfit, first date meal, first date conversation, first date location, first date present, and the list kept going. Nan Gil replies that the clock strikes midnight. The first and last date. He’s sure there's no information on that. She snaps at him to stop ruining the mood. He sighs.

She says that they say to find common interests during the first date. She says that she found it. He looks at her, surprised. She asks what the easiest thing is to grow in a greenhouse. He sighs. She asks if she’s making this sound this too much like an official meeting on farming. He’s starting to smile – but trying to be a curmudgeon anyway.

She starts talking about their plants. He said the flower of an eggplant means truth. What does he think the flower of a strawberry or squash mean? Nan Gil answers that the flower of the strawberries signifies a happy family. The flower of the squash signifies a beautiful heart. She replies that since she told him the meaning of the eggplant flower, he looked it up, didn't he? He gives her a small face and she smiles, pleased with herself.

He clucks at her to stop just drinking wine. Eat some of the meat, too. She knows she gets scary when she’s drunk. She surprised at that accusation. She gets scary when she’s drunk? No way! That's impossible. She takes another sip of wine, looking at little mischievous. Is she trying to get herself drunk? He sighs and mutters that there's nothing he can do.

Yeo Joo with Dong Jin’s friends. I don’t care. At one point she throws in there about the matchmaking service, which a drunk Dong Jin poo-poos. But a drunk Dong Jin can’t help but look at pictures of Na Ri when his friend pull them up on his phone.

Na Ri and Nan Gil sit by a bonfire. That’s some first date. She asks for his favorite animal. He responds by asking how many psychology tests she’s planning on doing. Irritated, he adds that none of the ones she’s done have been right so far. She snaps back that you're supposed to do this when you start dating. Wrapping her shawl more closely around her shoulders, he tells her to stop beating around the bush by doing psychology tests. If there’s something she’s curious about, just ask him. She clarifies that he means directly. He nods that he does.

She announces that she’s really going to ask. He looks at her, waiting. She asks, with a little mischief, what is #18 at karaoke? He sighs, disappointed. She considers and then asks why, at the funeral, did her promise Oma he would end his feelings? He replies that that question is cheating. They’re going back to the time before he decided to end his feelings. She concedes that he’s right. They are on a date.

She asks if there’s something he’s curious about her? He looks at her. Like he’s considering if he should really ask. She smiles and says that he probably doesn't have any. He asks why she reads those books so diligently. He lists some of them: "Dietary Habits of Successful People" "Why It's Okay to be Hated" "Ways to Comfort Yourself" Is she planning on following them? She replies that they’re just for providing strength of comfort or to help you start new.

Nan Gil replies that she should give her heart time to heal. Don't force it to heal. Na Ri says that she wishes there was a book called "How to Give Your Heart Time to Heal." He chuckles. She says that she’ll give her heart time to heal, so, Go Nan Gil, give his body some time to heal. He looks at her, asking what she’s talking about. Na Ri asks if he’s really not sick. Nan Gil replies that he told her before, he’s really strong. He can’t remember the last time he had a cold.

They both smile and look at the fire. Na Ri leans over and puts her head on his shoulder. Nan Gil stiffens slightly. She says that they should stay like this for a little bit. He’s not smiling, now. She is making this so hard for him. She says that sitting in front of the fire is the perfect date. Nan Gil awkwardly reaches around and puts Na Ri’s shawl more on her shoulders. He rests his hand there just for a moment before taking it back.

♬  You are mine ♬
♬  I am yours ♬
♬  You are my man ♬
♬  You are my soul ♬
♬  Look at me ♬
♬  Please love me ♬

Nan Gil is now carrying Na Ri via piggyback.

♬  You are my man ♬

He grumbles at her for spraining her ankle because she wore heels. Doesn’t she wear heels when she’s working? She answers that it’s an old injury from riding a bicycle. He replies that it’s a problem. Stress, constipation, disc pain in her back, and now her ankle. He groans at her. She tells him to stop it. She said it's not constipation.

Back at the house, Na Ri holds out her hand to shake. I thought you were supposed to kiss. Ah, where’s that norebang? She says that she had fun today.

♬  The two of us ♬

He takes her hand and asks if she really had fun. She smiles at him. He tells her to tell him what Halmeoni said to her.

Flashback. Halmeoni says that that guy Nan Gil followed Oma around and called her Oma ever since he was little. Even during that hectic time when he was getting her funeral service together, he purposely came there and asked if there was anything else that needed to get done. That’s a good man. Ak! Hate that Director! Halmeoni says that she’s really thankful to Nan Gil, who purposely came to see me while Jung Im was taking her last trip.

Back to the handshake. Na Ri takes back her hand and says that now that she thinks about it, she didn't do anything for the funeral service. She didn't know who was gotten in touch with to come or how it was carried out back then. She thanks him for taking care of Oma’s last trip and for being by Oma’s side, too. Nan Gil replies that she already said thank you last time. It's burdensome if she says it too much.

Na Ri smiles and says that after meeting with Halmeoni, she found a memory that she really wants to remember. Why she doesn’t remember that time and what Oma hid from her and why, she wants to know. But if she finds that out, she thought that they’d really become distant and come to an end. Nan Gil asks ‘why?’ Na Ri replies that he’s one of the things that Oma hid from her. And he’s hiding something from her, too. Nan Gil sighs. Na Ri says that since he’s not answering, she knows that he’s hiding something from her. That's why she wanted to leave behind one last good memory between them. She smiles and says goodbye. Nan Gil smiles and nods back. Na Ri goes inside. Nan Gil watches her go. Once she’s inside, Nan Gil pulls out his phone and calls Joon. He apologizes for calling so late. He has to leave now. What does that mean?!

Inside, Na Ri gets a phone call. It’s Dong Jin. Drunk dialing is not a good idea. She rejects the call. A very drunk Dong Jin sighs and texts her:

I now realize what I did. I'm sorry to our 20's that we spent together.

Yeo Joo comes up and snatches away the phone. She looks at what he typed and angrily throws down his phone. She tells him that out of all the men she's dated, he’s the worst. She walks off.

Joon and Han Yi drive up and Nan Gil gets in their car. Are they roommates? They drive away.

Wan Shik enters a business. It looks like he’s doing the weekly extortion money pickup. Quite a fat money bag. Now, Nan Gil is walking behind him. Nan Gil starts to have one of his episodes. He struggles to keep going. Wan Shik walks up some stairs, smiling as he counts some of the money. Nan Gil steps into his path.

Cut to Nan Gil pinning Wan Shik to the wall outside. Wan Shik laughs – though he sounds scared, after all, Nan Gil’s arm is pressing into his neck – and says that the boss of Hong Dumplings came all the way there even though it's so late. Nan Gil smiles slightly and asks if Director knows about it. That he’s running his own lending company with the money that he stole from Director’s company. Wan Shik’s not smiling anymore. Nan Gil is really perceptive.

Nan Gil kicks away the money bag. Wan Shik sighs. Nan Gil repeats his request: Don't appear in front of Hong Na Ri ever again. Even if you do everything that Director tells him to do, just don't do that one thing. Trying to sound menacing, Wan Shik asks, “Just that one thing?” Nan Gil looks at him and asks if he remembers that they were once part of the same family. Wan Shik laughs and calls him a crazy bastard. Nan Gil leans in more on his throat.

Nan Gil says that even though they hated each other, they slept together and ate together. Wan Shik’s the first family he ever had in his life. So... he's okay with keeping a secret for him. Nan Gil lets Wan Shik go. Wan Shik slumps to the ground and gasps. Nan Gil squats down next to him and says that he’ll keep Wan Shik’s secret for right now. What is his secret that Director knows? What does Director mean when he says that Nan Gil’s the one who made Hong Na Ri that way?

Wan Shik chuckles – why is he still fronting like he’s not about to pee in his pants? – and says that Director said that Nan Gil’s come looking to ask that. But what to do? He doesn't know either. Wan Shik laughs. Director said that Nan Gil should come himself if he’s curious. Nan Gil grabs his collar and then starts to have another one of his episodes. He tries to act like it’s not happening, but Wan Shik notices.

Nan Gil wobbles down the street. He almost gets hit by a car. The boys arrive and he crawls into the car. He lets his hand relax and it’s bleeding from where he dug his fingernails in. I wonder how much they know. And if they’re not rescues from the Director’s family, too.

Next morning, Na Ri is waiting for Nan Gil. She comments on his over-sleeping. She’s there to go with him to see her seeds. He smiles at that. As they walk, he asks if she still can't sleep. She says that she did. She saw Oma in her dreams, too. That's the first time Oma’s been in her dreams. Nan Gil says that Oma must know that she’s leaving today.

Na Ri quotes a poem: "I miss my mother even though I am 92 years old." She muses that she’ll be that way, too. He smiles at her. Duk Shim is waiting for Nan Gil to arrive. She hides but decides to come out – to keep her agreement with her brother. She gives Na Ri a deep bow and greets her. Na Ri barely gives her an ‘anyeong.’ Heh. Duk Shim calls Na Ri ‘unni’ which gets her to stop and turn around. Duk Shim says that she has something to say to her. Nan Gil and Na Ri look at each other and Nan Gil goes inside.

She tries to make some small talk, but Na Ri isn’t catching on. Duk Shim snaps at her and Nan Gil comes out. Oops. Duk Shim bows deeply and hurries away. Nan Gil and Na Ri head into the green house. Duk Shim pulls out her phone and calls Duk Bong. He’s asleep, in one of his sweaters. He picks up his phone and puts it on his face as he answers. Heh. I’ve done that. She announces that Hong Na Ri said she's leaving for Seoul after she eats breakfast. She hangs up. Duk Bong didn’t quite get that – being half asleep. He looks at his phone and mutters about how early it is. And he totally looks like he just woke up!

Na Ri is really happy with how her seeds are turning out. She freaks when Nan Gil pulls out one of the plants. He replies that it’s a weed. He squats next to her and asks if she knows how smart weeds are. They grow similarly to whatever they are growing next to. When they're next to lettuce sprouts, they grow like lettuce. When they're next to corn sprouts, they grow like corn. They enjoy life so much and are so hard-working that it makes you sad to pull them up. I don’t feel sad. They push out the plants you want.

Na Ri sadly asks the weed why it had to o be born as a weed. Nan Gil says that there's a use for them. They say that farm crops grow when they hear the sound of human footsteps. Hard-working farmers walk back and forth while they're working hard at pulling the weeds. Crops have to know what it's like to be protected and loved to grow up well too. Na Ri summarizes: So the reason for this weed's existence is to help with the push-and-pull flirting between farmers and their crops? He looks at her and smiles.

Na Ri gets self-conscious and hides her face with her hands. She announces that she didn't wash her face. She waves at him to go away. He smiles and obliges. He goes back to what he was doing. Na Ri comes up behind him and says that she’s sad now that she’s leaving. He looks at her. He’s going to walk around here often so that her lettuce plants can hear the sound of footsteps even though she’s not here, right? Nan Gil sort of nods a yes. He’s sad, too. She tells him not to work too much and make sure he gets some sleep too. Okay? He won’t look at her. He nods – and his face looks like he wants to cry. She announces that it really feels like their last goodbye.

Back at Hong Dumplings, Nan Gil carries Na Ri’s small bag – instead of the huge one she brought when she arrived – out to the curb. Na Ri stops to say goodbye to the boys. She tells them that she enjoyed it all this time. Yong Kyu says that it’s such a shame. They wish her goodbye. She smiles at them. Yong Kyu sighs. Nan Gil loads her suitcase into *Duk Bong’s* car. Yong Kyu mutters that she’s getting a ride in another man's car. Then what about their Boss? Nan Gil tells Duk Bong to drive carefully.

Na Ri stands next to him. He tells her bye and says that if she wants to come there– she cuts him off to say no, she’s not going to come anymore. His face looks like she just kicked him in the gut. She says that she’ll see him every year for Oma’s death anniversary. She tells him to live well. He nods and they – slow motion – walk past each other, she to get in the passenger side of the car and he to go back into the restaurant. Duk Bong climbs into the car without a word and they drive away. Na Ri looks back as they drive away.

Duk Bong asks why she keeps looking back like she’s never coming back? She instead responds to start to say that if he’s going purposely going to Seoul because of me, then– He cuts her off and says that he has something to do in Seoul. He also has a favor to ask him. She replies that it worked out well then. She has something to ask him, too. She says that she’ll pay when they stop at the rest stop. Duk Bong replies that he definitely told her that he wasn't going to a rest stop.

He sighs and says that she doesn’t remember a word he says, does she? And Na Ri’s response confirms that last statement. She says that stopping at rest stops is a hobby for her though. He replies that he can adjust to everything for a woman when he dates her. Na Ri says they should pass by the rest stops, then. Duk Bong says that there’s somewhere that he wanted to go. They should go have a cup of tea there. He can buy that for them. She sighs.

Nan Gil is standing outside, looking at Oma’s house. He sees the ghost of Na Ri there – coming out of the house, reading in the swing, staggering out after spending the night in the basement.

♬  Right now  ♬
♬  I am having one of those times  ♬

Na Ri laughing as she reads and cleans laundry.

♬  Because I miss you  ♬

He sadly goes inside.

♬  I feel like I'll go crazy ♬

Everywhere is her ghost.

♬  And I want to run to you right away ♬
♬  I can't forget  ♬
♬  I can't forget your warmth  ♬

He spots her self-help books.

♬  Because it's you  ♬

And he looks like someone’s stabbing him in the heart with a spoon.

♬  Because it's you, I can't forget  ♬

The place that Duk Bong takes Na Ri is where she had her date with Nan Gil. She looks sadly at where their bonfire was.

♬  That scent that was so warm ♬

She remembers him putting his arm around her.

♬  Sometimes ♬

Duk Bong says that they say that this is the hottest place after their museum.

♬  When I have a hard time or get exhausted or need a place to lean on ♬

Na Ri sadly walks away from the bonfire.

♬  If you call me, then wherever it is, even to the ends of the earth  ♬
♬  I'll surely go  ♬

Inside, Duk Bong snaps a few pictures. Ironic that he’s doing the date stuff now, on their non-date.

She looks at where they sat together. Nan Gil’s voice says “Strawberry flowers signify a happy family. Pumpkin flowers signify a beautiful heart.”

♬  My foolish love ♬
♬  But love still lives on ♬

He snaps a pic of Na Ri and smiles to himself. Even though she’s looking away and looks sad.

He asks what she wanted to ask him. He knocks on the table to try and get her attention. What is that she wanted to ask him? She blinks a few times and tells him to speak first. What's the favor that he wants from her? He replies that Duk Sim will write her an apology. She said that she would spill everything about Na Ri to him while pretending to reflect on her actions.

Na Ri’s not really listening. She’s thinking of Nan Gil telling her to not just drink wine. Eat some meat too. She knows that she’s scary when she gets drunk, right? She tells Duk Bong to hold on a minute. He says that spilling everything about her sounds a bit bad, right? She answers that she’s it because she can't concentrate there. Can they go outside to talk? He’s surprised that she doesn't like it here. And her face doesn't look too good either. He agrees to go.

♬ You are my man ♬

Na Ri’s phone rings. It’s Nan Gil. Why is he calling?

♬ You are my soul. Look at me ♬
♬ Please love me ♬

She sighs sadly and answers.

♬ You are my man ♬

A slight pause, like he’s trying to figure out what to say. She left her books.

♬ You are my soul ♬

She says that she left them on purpose. Nan Gil asks why she left them. She said they give her energy and comfort sometimes, and help her to make new resolutions. She should take them with her. She replies that he said he should leave her heart to cool off. He told her not to force herself just to become like them. Nan Gil cringes and says that he was wrong in his thinking. She should take them. There’s a pause. She says that she doesn’t want to. He asks where she is. He’ll bring them to her. She tells him to forget it and hangs up. Nan Gil sighs sadly.

♬ Wherever we are in the world ♬
♬ With you ♬
♬ Let’s hold onto each other tightly like back then ♬

Duk Bong walks over to her

♬ With me ♬
♬ Let’s love like we did back then ♬
♬ With you ♬
♬ Let’s look at each other like we did back then ♬

He says that he guesses they didn't have the kind of relationship to come here. He suggests getting back in the car and talking. Na Ri doesn’t move.

♬ My everything ♬

He’s saying, they should go to Seoul.

♬ I'm your everything, our everything ♬

He looks closer and asks if she’s crying.

♬ My love ♬

She denies it and agrees they should go. No, you need to go back to Nan Gil! Or at least tell him where you are so he can come get you.

♬ With you ♬
♬ Let’s hold onto each other tightly like back then ♬

She walks to the car and he follows her.

♬ With me ♬
♬ Let’s love like we did back then ♬

Nan Gil’s hand, holding his phone, drops sadly onto Na Ri’s books sitting on the table. He looks miserable.

♬ With you ♬
♬ Let’s be next to each other like back then  ♬
♬ With me ♬
♬ Let’s not change like back then ♬
♬ You're my everything ♬
♬ I'm your everything ♬

Yong Kyu comes out and yells for him.

♬ Our everything ♬

They should start the last batch of skins!

♬ My love, you are my everything ♬

Nan Gil looks at him and sadly sighs. Alright. He forces himself to get up and go inside.

Na Ri arrives and looks at her books. Nan Gil says that he thought she wouldn't come. He’s come back outside. Probably for the books. Without looking at him, she says that she’s taking the books. He says that he call her because of the books. Is this going to be a love declaration?! He says that he decided that if she came back, he would tell her everything. She turns around and says that he should tell her.

She asked if she's his first love and if he still likes her, right? From the time he was young until now, he has. It is a love declaration!!! Na Ri asks why he said that his feelings ended. Because he’s sorry. She asks what he’s sorry for? Slight pause and he says for love her, Hong Na Ri, he’s sorry. Then he walks across the lawn, takes her face in his hands and kisses her. Just a bit of squeeing over here! She drops her bag. And that is not an eyes-wide-open-chaste-no-arms-kiss. That is a real, *real* kiss.

♫ You're the only one I see, you're the only one I hear  ♫

He switches to the other side of her face. See, real kiss.

♫  can't move anymore ♫

He almost stops but then kisses her some more. That’s how many years of waiting for that kiss? Sniff.

♫ I like you, why don't you know that yet? ♫

She pulls him closer.

♫ My gaze is telling you ♫
♫ Fool, don't you know? ♫
♫ From the beginning it was you ♫
♫ I like you, why don't you know that yet?  ♫

Thoughts

They kissed! They kissed! He admitted it and they kissed! I am very happy. But worried about the next shoe dropping. But they kissed! I hope they replay it next episode. Poor Duk Bong. Things just got more complicated. But they kissed!

I’m pretty tempted to leave it at that, but…
  1. Wan Shik’s side business is going to come back to bite him and I think Nan Gil will get hurt saving his brother.
  2. Nan Gil doesn’t have any idea what Director was talking about, which is a relief, considering I was worried that Nan Gil did something to her Abeoji and knew that he did. It’s still a possibility, but that’s not as terrible as him keeping it from her.
  3. He’s not going to have any secrets anymore.
  4. But what’s up with Abeoji’s secrets? That part has me worried a bit. Where did he take her when she was young? Why didn’t Oma ever say anything? And why didn’t Oma tell Na Ri about her relationship with Nan Gil? Was she protecting him from Abeoji, too? Abeoji’s going to show up again, I know it. In probably another 4 episodes.
  5. What was Dong Jin doing if Nan Gil made all the funeral arrangements? What a ducky boyfriend! Nan Gil is so much better.
  6. She really tortured him this episode.
  7. Does this mean she’s staying, then?
  8. And it’s a little sad that Nan Gil feels sorry for loving her, like he isn’t worthy of something like that, someone like her.
  9. They kissed early on, so there’s probably plenty more kissing to come. Hee!
