He leaves the meeting in a daze – oh, I hate seeing him like this! Practically about to pass out. He thinks about all the little things that she’s said and done that point to the truth:
I have a lot of secrets. I guess you can say I am wearing a mask.
The person that you married is not Seo Eun Ha.
He sags to the ground, overcome. And I find myself telling him to throw up, he’ll feel better. He loosens his tie and mutters that there’s no way. He staggers to his feet again.
Ji Sook is pacing. It’s after 8 pm and he’s still not home. She tries calling Min Woo. He’s sitting in a hotel, drinking. Even though it’s out on the table beside him, he doesn’t answer it.
Eun Ha asking if she needs someone to rely on. Their marriage is for business after all.
Ji Sook saying that they are a couple and that family should be on the same side, no matter what happens.
Min Woo wants to know when the switch happened. Since when?
Seok Hoon and Mi Yeon are at the shooting range, doing target practice. They both have loaded weapons. In their hands… right now. Mi Yeon is pretty lethal, but Seok Hoon is all over the place. He thinks about how Mi Yeon told him that now Min Woo will know everything… Seo Eun Ha isn't real. But Ji Sook is real and she’s really in love with him and has told him so. She says that because he kept telling her not to, she wanted to do it more. So she did it.
They look at their targets and Mi Yeon comments that Seok Hoon’s skills have really declined. He used to hit 100 out 100 before. Before he was distracted by grief and spiraling out of control. He looks away from her, annoyed. She asks if she should give him a tip. When professionals shoot, they focus on their own body rather than focusing on the target. They check to see if their breathing is correct and if their arms and legs feel the same way as in training. If you focus on the target, your body shakes, and in the end, the bullet goes in the wrong direction. He asks what her target is. She tells him that it’s him. She smiles at him and starts shooting her target again.
Next morning, Min Woo still isn’t back. Dad wants to know where he is. Stepmom says that his phone is turned off. She really doesn't know what’s going on. Stepmom asks if Ji Sook knows anything. She doesn’t answer. Mi Yeon asks if there isn't anything she knows about Min Woo. Ji Sook looks pointedly at Seok Hoon. He looks at her, surprised. She asks if he, by any chance, knows where Min Woo is. He responds that he’s not sure. The meeting with the buyer didn’t go well yesterday. Perhaps, he didn't come home because of that.
Yun Soo enters to say that Min Woo called and said that he would go to the company to work. He also said that he is sorry and told you guys not to worry. She’s also brought a package for Dad.
In his study, Dad opens the box. Inside is an envelope and a hard drive. The letter inside explains that the hard drive contains footage showing that Mi Yeon is a murderer. Dad watches it. Min Woo collapsing. Eun Ha sinking in the water and Mi Yeon walking away and not doing anything. The letter instructs – and it’s Seok Hoon’s voice speaking now – Dad to ‘please’ give 50% of his shares to Choi Min Woo and at the upcoming charity event, declare that he appoints, Choi Min Woo, his successor, to take control of the company. If Dad doesn't do that, he will release the video to the public. Then the SJ Group's image will be severely tarnished and the stock price will take a nose dive. Dad is freaking out.
Seok Hoon thinking of what he said to Eun Ha: there are two methods only. Either make Choi Min Woo a mental patient or an heir. After that? They will kill Choi Min Woo and all of his assets will be transferred to her. Again, he says that they can do a lot with that wealth, like his plan is so altruistic.
Ji Sook demands that they talk. She asks what he did to Min Woo. What on earth is he planning?! He looks at her – and is uncharacteristically uneven rather than controlled in his body language – and tells her to tell him what he has planned. Whatever happened to Min Woo isn't his doing. Which is totally the truth. It was Mi Yeon. You could tell her that instead of being cryptic right now. Didn't he promise that he wouldn't bother Min Woo and her family? He did do that, but he lies really well, too. So there’s no way for her to know if he was being sincere.
She asks about the teleprompter. He says that he’s not sure who did it. Who does she think did it? Mi Yeon arrives and asks what they’re discussing so seriously. He says that it’s about the teleprompter. Does Mi Yeon know anything? Mi Yeon says that she had no idea... that Eun Ha was taken aback. It seemed like the event ended well.
Mi Yeon asks Ji Sook why Min Woo didn't come home the day before; she really doesn't know anything? Ji Sook asks if Mi Yeon knows something. Mi Yeon answers by asking if it isn’t Eun Ha that should know about Min Woo. There shouldn't be secrets within a married couple. Ji Sook looks at her and asks if she isn’t worried. Isn't Min Woo her only younger brother? Mi Yeon answers that this is the first time that Min Woo hasn’t come home. And didn’t he call and say that was going into work? Ji Sook replies, obviously worried, that this is the first time something like this is happening! That's why it's worrisome. She walks away and Mi Yeon acts offended.
Right then, Dad summons her with a wave of his hand. In his study, he asks if Eun Ha not making any mistakes? Mi Yeon says that she did get mad at her just now. Just because. Without any reason. Dad asks why Eun Ha would she do that without any reason. Mi Yeon doesn’t have an answer. He tells her not to bother Daughter-in-law. Understand? Mi Yeon actually looks chastened.
Min Woo is looking at the documents again… plus the picture of Ji Sook with the ‘nanny’s’ family. Ji Sook calls him again. He doesn’t answer it. She enters his office. She asks what happened and says that she was worried. He’s not making eye contact. She notices he’s holding something that looks like a resume. She says his name and, still not looking at her, he tells to please get out. He says that because he is not in the mood to talk now, please get out. Even more worried, she asks why he’s like this suddenly? His next please comes out as almost a whisper. He looks at her and tells her to leave immediately. She sadly walks away and out of his office. He watches her leave and then smacks his desk with the resume, frustrated.
Coffee shop. Ji Sook is sullen and not paying attention. Yun Soo asks if she’s okay. Ji Sook asks if there’s something wrong with Min Woo. No, right? Nothing would be wrong, right?
Min Woo is watching the news footage after Ji Sook’s ‘death.’
If the creditor is dead then the debt is dissolved. A piece of paper was found on which was written, "This was the only way." She sent a voicemail to her family saying that if she was born again, she wanted to live differently. The police say that Miss Byeon, who was troubled by debt, charged over a cliff in a car with loan sharks. They speculate that she stabbed one of the loan sharks with a key as he was trying to escape, and caused his death.
Min Woo looks like he’s been punched in the stomach again. Chang Soo is knows something is wrong. He asks if Min Woo’s really not going to tell me why they’re going to the police station? Min Woo practically growls that he must check something. He asks himself if she really killled a person? Chang Soo asks what he means, but Min Woo isn’t paying attention. He’s talking to himself. No. No way. It won't be the case. She is not the type to hurt someone. This is all fabricated.
Min Woo meets with someone, who complains that Min Woo only visits him when he needs something from. Min Woo asks if Friend looked into it? Friend asks what’s there to look into? The answers are all in there. He admits that the Byeon Ji Sook incident was a little strange so I did more investigation. An ordinary person who works at the department store kills a person and then commits suicide off of a cliff. Isn't it an extraordinary story? Friend says that when you really think about it, it's not that surprising. If you have a motive, you will act on it. That's human nature.
Min Woo asks him to explain so he can understand. Friend says that it was money. Her private loan debt was more than 500,000,000 KRW. She couldn't even think about paying back the principal. She had difficulty paying the interest and was harassed by loan sharks for over ten years. Man, 10 years of that… wow, I didn’t realize that it had been 10 years of dealing with Papa’s debt. Min Woo mutters to himself about her killing someone… Friend says that the answers are all in there. There was enough motive for her to kill a person. There is definitive evidence that proves she committed murder. In the ‘evidence’ is a picture of Loan Shark.
And Loan Shark – unfortunately – is not dead. He got out of being buried alive – which, I still don’t understand why they didn’t just tamp on it – by saying that the Ji Sook-Eun Ha switch would be published in the newspaper, in huge letters, the next day if he ended up dead. Plus the fact that Seok Hoon killed Scumbag. He’s meeting with Mi Yeon. Really? And she agrees to sink Seok Hoon for a 60-40 split. And I don’t think she’s actually planning on paying him anything. Mi Yeon tells Loan Shark that he has to find Seok Hoon’s definite weakness. The one where Seok Hoon cannot do anything.
Seok Hoon is inspecting the auditorium where Min Woo will give his acceptance speech. He’s with Minion. He looks up at the lights and says that if Choi Min Woo dies, this world will be a better place to live. What is with his vendetta against Min Woo? I wish they would explain how he got fixated on Min Woo. It makes no sense.
Min Woo decides to visit Ji Sook’s old job. Mal Ja recognizes him. He asks if Ji Sook used to work there. He asks what kind of person Ji Sook was. Mal Ja says that he must be curious since Madam and Ji Sook look so much alike. Mal Ja says that Ji Sook was a very hard worker. That girl, she should have done things like loafing around on the job sometimes. Manager says that Ji Sook was a very diligent worker. She is optimistic and kind. Only if she would have let up just a little bit of a point. Mal Ja makes a face at Manager.
Mal Ja moans that Ji Sook wasn't supposed to pass away like that. He asks if they know how Ji Sook died. Mal Ja says that she’s so upset. Ji Sook didn't do anything wrong. On the news, they were making a huge fuss about her doing something to a loan shark, but it was just an accident. She knows because she has really excellent intuition. Her Ji Sook was really kind. She would never bother other people.
Min Woo stops by the coffee shop and talks to Myung Hwa, who says that Unni Ji Sook was really good. When you are by her side, you automatically feel good. That kind of person. Myung Hwa starts to get emotional. Mom and Dad come down the stairs and Dad recognizes him. He asks Min Woo to sit. And gets him a cup of coffee. Ji Hyuk is concerned.
Min Woo looks at the picture of Ji Sook with her family and remember Ji Sook crying when she found Mom. Ji Hyuk goes over and asks why Min Woo is there. He says that he no reason to get involved with Seo Eun Ha anymore, so, leave. Please! Min Woo says that that's not it. Ji Hyuk repeats his request: Please leave my family alone. Please. Min Woo nods and says that he understands. But before he leaves, Min Woo turns around and looks a Ji Hyuk. It's been tough all this time for you, hasn't it? He walks out.
Ji Hyuk meets with Ji Sook and tells her about seeing Min Woo and what he said. His expression was like he knew something. Ji Hyuk worries that Min Woo knows. What if he is saying that knowing already? Ji Sook says it doesn't matter. It’s better this way. She was going to tell him everything anyway. She tells him that she was going to tell Min Woo everything Ji Hyuk asks her is she’s stupid? Why would she say that? She answers that it’s because he is her husband, her one and only husband. Aw.
Min Woo stops by Ji Sook’s urn at the funeral center. He notices the necklace that Seok Hoon left there and remembers seeing it on Eun Ha’s floating body. He takes the necklace and stops by Seok Hoon’s office. Whose necklace is this? Trying to sound innocent, Seok Hoon asks Min Woo why he’s asking that? Min Woo replies it’s because Seok Hoon would know about it. Min Woo asks why Seo Eun Ha's necklace would be in front of Byeon Ji Sook's urn? Seok Hoon looks at him like he’s humming ‘The Blue Danube’ in his head.
Min Woo asks what Seok Hoon’s relationship is with Byeon Ji Sook? What happened between Byeon Ji Sook and him? Seok Hoon asks why he thinks Seok Hoon did something. They look at each other. After a moment, Min Woo says that he will find out. He will definitely find out why things like this happened. And he looks a little ticked. He leaves the office and Seok Hoon looks at Eun Ha’s necklace.
Stepmom is freaking out over Dad’s decision to turn over the company to Min Woo. Isn’t Dad being too much? How could he give the control of the company to Min Woo, leaving her Mi Yeon out? Is Min Woo his only child? He needs to just tell her that her Mi Yeon murdered someone and he’s doing it to keep her Mi Yeon out of jail. Doesn’t he even see Mi Yeon working so hard for the company? What did he say before? The company will be inherited by the one with ability.
Stepmom declares that Min Woo needs treatments now! Um, since Doc Kim got exposed has Min Woo done one crazy thing? No. He does not need to be hospitalized. I wonder if Stepmom is behind Oma’s death. I don’t think Dad is, but I wouldn’t put it behind Stepmom. Of course, it was an accident, but I can see Stepmom going ‘oh, well.’ Dad says that the decision is already made. Why does she keep talking about it? Stepmom screeches at Dad, asking for the exact reason he wants to do this! Is it because of his mother...?!! Is it not? Dad still haven't forgotten her—Dad yells at her to give it a rest! He walks off. Stepmom throws a fit in his office.
Ji Sook asks Dad if it’s really true that Min Woo is inheriting the company? Dad confirms it. Ji Sook is definitely worried. Stepmom leaves the study and yells at the maids to clean up the mess. Ji Sook remembers reading how Eun Ha wrote that If Choi Min Woo becomes an heir... Then Choi Min Woo will die. She pictures Eun Ha writing… Eun Ha desperately writes that she must stop Seok Hoon becoming a murderer. Ji Sook writes in her journal that she must prevent Min Woo's death.
Seok Hoon and Ji Sook meet in the wine cellar. She tells him that she definitely declared that his plan won't work out the way he had planned it. She knows what he’s about to do. He asks what he’s about to do. She can’t say the sentence, only Min Woo’s name. Seok Hoon responds that all people die eventually. Ultimately they will die, too. She answers that it’s fine, they should die together. Seok Hoon says that he will continue with his plan. She won't be able to block him. Absolutely not. She responds that she will block him. No matter what.
Caught up in her thoughts, she collides with one of the maids. A glass shatters and she lands on it when she falls. She asks if they know where Min Woo is. Chang Soo hurries in and asks if she’s all right. She asks where Min Woo is. He hesitates. She asks again and he sighs because Executive Director told him not to tell.
Min Woo’s at a hotel. Ji Sook momentarily gets worried when she sees room service with a cart and a knife, but it’s for another room. She begs Min Woo to open the door. He finally answers and lets her in. He looks totally deflated. He slumps down on the couch. There are empty bottles on the coffee table. Drinking again? I thought today gave you good news.
Ji Sook says that she came because she has something to tell him. This is something she must tell him. She’s been wanting to tell him this since they got married. That part makes him shake his head. He cuts her off before she can say it. He tells her not to say anything. He doesn’t want to hear it. Her words and her actions... He can't trust. He can't believe anything anymore. Arg!!! He takes a drink of his whiskey.
Ji Sook answers that he must believe. He might really die if he doesn’t. He has to hear her out and believe her. Miserable, Min Woo tells her to get lost...and disappear. She’s hurt by this. But she doesn’t leave. Instead, she starts. Her name name is Byeon Ji Sook. She is not Seo Eun Ha, a daughter of a candidate for the President. But Byeon Ji Sook, a daughter of a snack bar owner.
Angry, Min Woo throws his glass across the room, where it shatters. He growls that he told her he didn’t want to hear it. She tells him that he must listen. Why she had to come this far. She tells him that she won't ask him to understand her. Just listen to her story, please.
Min Woo gets up and walks to stand over her – since he’s much taller. He says that the reason she came this far is because of the money, isn't that right? And instead of saying that it’s something else… Ji Sook says that he’s are right about the money. People with money, don't understand the hardship of people without money. She wanted to have a lot of money. She wanted to live without the worry for money.
Ji Sook looks at the floor and says that she knows she was wrong. An excuse like she didn't have a choice, she won't say. Even though that’s the truth, too. But... Everything she did with him were her choices. She’s saying they were her decisions. She asks him to please come back home. She’ll wait for him. She leaves the hotel room and sags against the door. She slowly walks away from the room.
Min Woo returns home. Chang Soo is happy to see him. He says that Dad kept looking for him to discuss has an important matter. He adds that the atmosphere is different than usual. It is serious. Min Woo nods.
Min Woo meets with Dad and Seok Hoon, who explains that the moment he is announced the successor at the charity party, 50% of the Chairman's shares will be transferred to him. After he makes a simple acceptance speech, he just needs to enjoy the party. Like he can enjoy it right now. Especially when that sentence came from the mouth of the man who maneuvered everything.
Dad asks what’s wrong with his facial expression? He’s finally getting the position he’s always wanted. Min Woo answers that he’s not sure. Why is Dad doing this so suddenly? Dad says that he built the SJ Group up from nothing in the last 50 years. But his are more important to him than the company. That is his reason. Really? Really? That’s why you’ve been a royal turkey to Min Woo all this time, because he’s more important than your company?
Ji Sook sits, waiting for Min Woo, looking at their flower. Her face says that she’s decided something. He enters. He doesn’t say anything to her. She stands and says that she heard that he’ll be announced as the successor at the party tomorrow. She asks him to please tell the Chairman that he’ll reject the offer. That gets him to look at her. She tells him that if he doesn’t, he will be in danger. He asks how. She says that she doesn't know that either. She asks his to please do as she asks.
He answers that he forgot the reason why he married her for awhile. Getting more power within this household and inheriting the company were his reasons for marrying her. He’s doing this just to be mean, because he’s hurt. Just like she has her reasons for marrying him. She says his name and he responds by saying that he will inherit the company as his father wishes him to. So, Seo Eun Ha... He stops, because that’s not her name anymore. He looks down and says that even being in the same room with her is difficult. He leaves. Ji Sook sadly sighs.
Min Woo goes to the house bar. Mi Yeon finds him there, miserable. She tells him to stop drinking now. He chuckles and asks if she didn't do it to make him drink? He starts to pour himself another drink and she stops him, gently saying that that’s enough. Loudly, he puts the bottle down and asks why she did it? Why did she tell him, Noona? Why?! He slams his fist on the bar with frustration. Her face says that she actually feels bad because of how much he’s hurting. I guess this was one of those things that you decided to go ahead and do to know that you shouldn’t’ do it. Because that logic works. He says that it would have been better for him not to know. They would gotten along very nicely. I’m not sure that they he’s talking about – him and Ji Sook or him and Mi Yeon. Mi Yeon says that it couldn't be helped. She couldn't help it. He takes another drink.
In the room, Ji Sook looks at the bed and thinks about Min Woo asking her if she’s coming to bed to sleep? She sits in the chair by the couch and puts her head down on the coffee table.
Min Woo is still investigating. Why is he being so mean to her when he’s doing all this to prove to himself that he’s right to trust her? He meets with the security guys and finds out about CCTV Man. Min Woo asks where CCTV Man is and… he’s in the ICU, in a coma. Funny how that happened *after* Seok Hoon visited him. Doctor reports that CCTV Man’s condition got worse suddenly. They are in the process of trying to find the cause for it. Min Woo spots Minion. Minion is able to elude Min Woo, but not before a chase through the hospital.
Ji Sook has stopped by Lawyer’s office. She says that a person's life is depending on this, so please make it so she can divorce Min Woo tomorrow. Lawyer sighs and says that the paperwork is not ready. What are you doing? Having your dog type it? He tells her that her only option is to wait. Ji Sook sighs and wonders what Seo Eun Ha would do.
She heads to Eun Ha’s house and looks in her memento box. She pulls out her tablet and watches a message that Eun Ha filmed for EHDad about her first exhibit. She knows he can't come because you are busy.
Another video from Eun Ha’s mother's memorial day. Does EHDad even remember it? She says that on a day like today... She doesn't want to be alone, EHDad. Poor Eun Ha.
Another video – she found a childhood painting. This is the first painting she received an award for after she started studying art. Aw, it’s EHDad and EHOma. They’re all smiling. Does EHDad remember it? He was really happy with this painting.
Ji Sook puts down the tablet. And looks like she feels as bad for Eun Ha as I do.
Ji Sook goes to visit EHDad. He asks what brought her there to visit him. She replies that she came because she has something to tell him. Once they sit, she says that she’s going to get a divorce. EHDad wants to know if something happened. Is Min Woo mean to her? She answers that he’s very nice to her. She just doesn't like him anymore. It’s her problem. EHDad tells her that she’s being immature. His election is just around the corner! He tells her to talk about her divorce after the election, uh? She agrees but asks EHDad for a favor.
Min Woo is at work, miserable. He hears Ji Sook call his name. But she’s not there. He slaps his laptop closed and looks through the window at the office. Ji Sook isn’t at her desk. Chang Soo arrives. He tells Chang Soo to go find out what Seo Eun Ha is doing right now. Chang Soo replies that Eun Ha is probably working right now. Min Woo tells him to go and see it with his own eyes. What she’s doing, what she ate, who she's with, whether she is smiling– He stops himself and sighs. He adds “or crying. Go check.” Aw. He can’t bear to look at her right now but he has to know how she is at the same time.
Chang Soo is obeying but muttering to himself as he does. Madam is most likely at work right now. Why does Min Woo want him to go and check? Executive Director is so... aigoo! Min Woo calls him on the phone and tells him not to go and see Seo Eun Ha. He doesn't want to know what she's doing so Chang Soo should just return immediately. Chang Soo turns the car around.
Min Woo calls right back because he’s changed his mind. Heh. It's probably better if Chang Soo still goes. Just go check quickly and don't get caught. Chang Soo sighs and says he understands. He exhales loudly. Min Woo changes his mind again. No, he should see it with my own eyes. Chang Soo practically cries as he says “Executive Director!”
Coffee shop is very busy. Ji Sook is hard at work. Yun Soo is ecstatic because the new menu that was just developed is so popular! People are lined up for it! Yun Soo tells Ji Sook to go in the office and get some rest. She might pass out if she keeps it up. Ji Sook replies that she won't pass out. She’s am very sturdy. She asks Yun Soo if they should develop another idea. Where should they go this time for an idea development meeting? Yun Soo suggests overseas. Ji Sook smiles.
Min Woo looks through the window to see her smiling. He wonders what’s so good that she's smiling like that? Once Yun Soo is gone, the smile leaves quickly and Ji Sook looks sad. He mutters that she shouldn't frown like that. She'll lose the customers. He’s at war with himself. Ji Sook leaves the shop. He wonders where she’s going not working during work hours?
He goes to eat at their restaurant.
♬ Where... ♬
♬ Where are you? ♬
He thinks of her telling him to eat! When he feels empty inside, the soup and rice are the best. This makes him get up and leave, food unfinished.
♬ If you are the one ♬
♬ then show yourself to me now♬
Ji Sook enters shortly afterward and sits at the same table.
♬ Seeing for yourself you will smile to yourself♬
♬ Perhaps waiting will not be a crazy act.♬
♬ I love you. I love you. ♬
Ji Sook stares sadly at his seat.
♬ Still without a response I will look forward to waiting for you ♬
Min Woo goes walking on a bridge.
♬ Waiting for you. I hate you. I hate you. ♬
♬ Because I love you so much ♬
♬ while looking at you then I can only laugh.♬
He remembers when he came across Ji Sook drunk.
♬ Even it hurts♬
♬ Even If I hate, I can't♬
He remembers taking her back to the hotel. It makes him chuckle now.
♬ Because I hate it so much,♬
♬ I swallow and swallow again. ♬
♬ Being unable to have you I look only at you with sorrow♬
Ji Sook looks at her list. And the photo album of Min Woo smiling.
♬ Even though I regret it, even though I hurt ♬
♬ I will take it.♬
♬ Even if it's just once ♬
♬ If it's not yet our ending♬
Min Woo is sitting at the house bar again. He’s looking at pictures of them together.
♬ I don't want to miss even a glimmer of hope♬
He stops on one of her smiling at him.
Inauguration Party. Even though he’s sitting beside Ji Sook, he can’t look at her. Ji Sook has the opening speech. Chang Soo sighs that the Madam is very beautiful. He remembers Min Woo’s threat and says that he won't look at her. It would be a big problem if he wore the Madam out. Heh.
Ji Sook speaks easily without the teleprompter. She thanks everyone for coming. Announcer introduces the highlight of today's charity concert – and Korean for highlight is ‘highlight’ – Executive Director Choi Min Woo and Director Seo Eun Ha will perform a duet. Both of them are surprised. It’s Dad’s idea. Min Woo wordlessly obliges his father.
Seok Hoon’s man is position. Seok Hoon tells him that it has to look perfectly accidental. And for once I am happy that Loan Shark appears. Loan Shark and Goon spot the guy and know something’s fishy.
Ji Sook starts to play the piano. Min Woo follows. It’s ‘The Blue Danube.’ He’s the melody and she’s the accompaniment. She thinks of when they played the violin together. How happy they were. She stops playing. Min Woo waits because it’s not the end of the song. I wonder if Joo Ji Hoon actually knows how to play the violin. They finish and bow to the audience. Does no one notice that they are off? Min Woo goes back to his seat but Ji Sook keeps walking.
Dad makes his speech. He starts to announce what the blackmailer required when EHDad enters and interrupts. Ji Sook is with him. He tells Dad to hold on.
Outside, EHDad says that the election is almost there. At an important time like this, must Dad pass the control of the group to Son-in-law Choi? Dad says that he wrestled with it and tells EHDad to believe in Min Woo. EHDad mentions the psychiatric treatment being leaks and how it could affect his approval rating. Does Dad want that to happen? EHDad says that he’s seriously considering that Eun Ha get a divorce over this matter. He, too, is telling Dad this after a painful thought. Dad nods.
They re-enter the auditorium and EHDad gives Ji Sook a nod.
Flashback to when Ji Sook and EHDad met up. She presents him with the box. EHDad asks what it is. She replies that it is what a daughter wanted to say to her father. Oh, that’s sad. Even though it is late, she wanted to show it to him. She’ll explain everything later and hopes that he will do what she asked him to do.
Ji Sook leaves and EHDad immediately looks in the box. It holds the painting and the tablet. He watches the video of her talking about it. Aw, it’s making me cry. It makes Dad cry, too, as he looks at the painting.
Dad has to think of something to say now. He awkwardly says that until Executive Director Choi Min Woo's ability is validated, he will not turn over the control of the company. Seok Hoon is surprised. Min Woo looks at Ji Sook and asks if this is her doing? She replies that it is. She had to go this far. She gets up and goes to the podium. Seok Hoon wonders what she’s doing now.
Ji Sook says that she has one more thing to say. She is planning on giving away 50% of the shares I have in SJ Group. Everyone is surprised including Min Woo. Mi Yeon rolls her eyes. She looks at Seok Hoon and thinks of his plan. She continues that she’s planning on, with her shares, startin a charity enterprise. This charity enterprise is for neighbors, who want to study but due to lack of money are engulfed in difficulties. She thinks of her family as she says the clerks who work hard but only face hardship. It means, to all those who live close to us who are having a hard time making a living the opportunity to live. Min Woo blinks. Seok Hoon looks a little shaken, because she’s planning on *doing* everything that he’s been saying he wants the money for. For those who have a lot of money and those who don't, a world that we can smile together, that's the world I wish for.
The crowd enthusiastically claps and raises to their feet. Ji Sook bows to them. Min Woo has to decide if he’s going to believe his heart or his head. Dad sighs. So does Seok Hoon. As Ji Sook is about to leave the podium, the light above her starts to shake and spark. Seok Hoon looks up with surprise. His man comes out, surprised. Min Woo rushes up and pulls Ji Sook out of the way, saving her from being crushed by the light.
Thoughts
Man, this was a painful episode to watch since both of them were suffering the aftermath of Noona’s actions. I wonder if Min Woo would have had quite as an extreme reaction if she had been the one to tell him, but then it wouldn’t have quite been so dramatic. And poor guy, he thinks that she was just using him for the money when he was falling in love with her. Her announcement at the end tells him that it’s definitely not about the money. And the falling light tells him that she wasn’t kidding when she kept telling him that his life is in danger.
Was anyone else nervous when Mi Yeon and Seok Hoon were at the shooting range? I could see her totally shooting him in a fit of rage.
One of the things that I appreciate about Min Woo – I won’t say love because I notice that I’ve used that a lot in my recap of this show – but one of the things is that even though he’s angry and hurt and feels betrayed, he’s still fighting to believe what his heart is telling him: that Ji Sook loves him. His quest shows him just how bad and hard her life was before, why she might decide to do what she’s done. It also shows that the people who *knew* her could never believe what the police are saying she did, because it isn’t in her nature. Just like she told him that murdering someone isn’t in his nature.
Ji Sook is very clever to involve EHDad. I think the reason why Dad caved is because he knows how happy Ji Sook makes his son and he doesn’t want them to divorce. But sacrificing one to save the other… Well, he was on the fence about the whole thing anyway. But it at least shows that what he was saying about his children being more important, that that might be true. Even though Dad has a twisted way of showing it.
Interesting Stepmom and Dad’s fight. It makes me suspect even more that Stepmom had something to do with Oma’s death and it would explain why she never felt an inkling to be a fill-in for Oma.
The Eun Ha that we meet in this episode is more of what we’ve been seeing in her diary: someone who would wear the mask of a smile but inside was hurting and felt alone. Her relationship with her dad was very relatable and real. And sad. But you do things like record videos that you’ll never send when you think that the recipient won’t even bother to look at them. We also see more that she was playing the part of the accomplice and putting on the performance *for Seok Hoon’s sake* so that she could keep him from doing something irreversible. She had to play the part of the hardened chaebol’s daughter who was marrying for money, so that Seok Hoon would buy that she was going with the plan. I really wonder how she was planning on talking Seok Hoon out of it, but she had already put a plan in place, since the lawyer was already hired and had a d-day all set.
I really hope at the end of this, that Seok Hoon can break and let go of this vendetta and simply be happy with Mi Yeon. I think, regardless of all the horrible things that he’s done, if he held on to her, really, and told her that he loved her and meant it, that she would forgive all of it and hold on as tightly right back. Because she really does love him. Hopefully now, though, since she saw how much it crushed Min Woo, she will let go of her vendetta against Ji Sook.
