The team drives back to the station. No one is saying anything. Gook is in the way back, dejectedly staring ahead at nothing. Boy, if you didn’t have a complex about being inadequate with Tae Il, you will have one now with Dae Goo getting your girl… Pan Suk commends them on a job well done. He’s in a really good mood – laughing and everything – because they even managed to help Team One right after the Yoo Ae Yun case closed. Soo Sun tells him she would like treat the whole team to dinner to show her appreciation for helping in her mom's case. Pan Suk and Eung Do like that idea and Eung Do tells them to go ahead to that fried chicken place in front of the station. They’ll meet the kids after their meeting is done. Tae Il says “Yay, chicken!” while waving Gook’s hand, but Gook is practically catatonic. Well, maybe not totally, because he just poutily flopped himself to face the window. Dae Goo and Soo Sun avoid looking at each other.
Beer mug clink! The four are sitting at a table, Tae Il across from Soo Sun and Gook across from Dae Goo. Dae Goo and Soo Sun are still avoiding looking at each other, even though they’re sitting right next to each other. Soo Sun thanks them for all their hard work. Dae Goo says that she shouldn’t thank them because they couldn't put the handcuffs on Ae Yun's wrists. It really bugs him because the investigation was ended by Moon Bae's apology. Soo Sun has decided to be positive about the situation; instead of half a failure, she’s going to view it as half a success. They're rich and powerful people who know how to game the system. Making Mom feel better only possible better because they were on the case. None of them want to accept her thanks.
Soo Sun thanks them again for helping protect Mom. Gook protests that they’ll (he’ll) protect her if something happens to her! Tae Il tells her that he and Gook thought about exposing the relationship between Moon Bae and Ae Yun. Soo Sun protests that they shouldn't violate their principles because of those people. She’d choose losing with righteousness over victory through injustice! Tae Il and Gook ‘oooo!’ at that one. She’s thought about doing it (exposing them) but that's the conclusion she’s reached. Another mug clink.
Gook brings up how Soo Sun and Dae Goo “went through a lot” during the investigation earlier. Dae Goo and Soo Sun just drink to avoid the topic. Gook’s annoyed because they shouldn’t be acting like they like each other! Which they do. As detectives, they’re required to do so many things, like they have to act like lovers and kiss against their will! Tae Il tries to pour him some more beer to get him to chill out. Gook tells Soo Sun and Dae Goo to eat up, since that stuff earlier was all just business anyway. Another chugging of beer. Soo Sun sneaks a look at Dae Goo, but he doesn’t look in her direction.
Back in her tent, Soo Sun can’t sleep. Turning off the light might help. A replay of the kiss. Soo Sun fans herself. Switch to Dae Goo laying down, thinking of Soo Sun, his hand resting on his heart. As he thinks about it, he wears a Ji Yong smile. He rolls over and closes his eyes, with a smile on his lips (and nothing playing in the background).
Pan Suk enters his apartment with his mail. He doesn’t immediately notice the leaking water pouring from the ceiling. As he does, Pan Suk gets a call from the maintenance staff. They need him to vacate his home for a couple of days so they can fix the plumbing. Next we see Pan Suk carrying two file boxes and a duffel out to his car. He heads over Eung Do’s house. Eung Do has such cute kids! Four of them, plus one on the way. Pan Suk teases him. Seeing the pregnant wife, Pan Suk cheerfully scrams, even though Eung Do tells him to stay.
No! That’s awesome! Even better roommate hijinks!!!! The doorbell rings, getting Dae Goo out of bed. He’s not expecting anyone. Gook and Tae Il get up, too, with Gook grumbling about the crazy person ringing the bell at that hour. It’s Pan Suk. Heee!!! Of course, they welcome him in. And Dae Goo doesn’t seem too upset about it. Pan Suk explains about his pipes and asks if he can stay for a couple of days. Slight frown from Dae Goo. He’s ready to not hate Pan Suk, but not sure if he likes him yet. Gook and Tae Il don’t have any problem with it, since the hotels in the area are full. Conveniently. Roommate hijinks! Dae Goo doesn’t say anything.
Noticing Dae Goo’s less than enthusiastic face, Tae Il tells Pan Suk that since their place is small, Pan Suk will have to bunk on the couch. Gook wonders why, since the top bunk in Dae Goo’s room is occupied. And then he realizes he shouldn’t have said anything. Pan Suk immediately tries to pretend he’s scared of bunk beds and is fine with the couch. He offers them the fried chicken he brought. Dae Goo declines and goes to bed. Of course, I predict he’s going to feel guilty at some point… Gook and Tae Il also give excuses.
Pan Suk has yet to go to sleep, even though it’s a little after four. He’s still looking at case files. Oma’s case files maybe? There’s noise from Dae Goo’s room. Pan Suk goes to investigate. It’s an anime cartoon. A creepy anime cartoon where the kid screams as his mother is in danger. Pan Suk looks at the sleeping Dae Goo. He starts to tuck him in and pauses briefly as Dae Goo stirs. Then he finishes. He almost turns off Dae Goo’s cartoon but stops to leave it on.
Dae Goo gets up in the morning. Pan Suk is finally asleep on the couch. He’s curious at what Pan Suk’s looking at. It is Oma’s case files. Dae Goo finally really realizes that Pan Suk’s never let Oma’s case go. Pan Suk stirs, so Dae Goo steps back, so it doesn’t look like he was being nosy, but Pan Suk doesn’t wake. Dae Goo is touched by the fact that a guy he hated has tried to solve Oma’s death all this time, that he cares as much as Dae Goo does. I’m a little misty, too.
Police Station. Dae Goo and Soo Sun run into each other in the hall. Momentary horror on both their faces. She turns around more than once, trying to figure out what to do. Dae Goo greets her, calling her ‘soybean flour.’ I think I like 'Bread Crumbs' the best. I wonder what the significance of soybean flour is? She pretends she didn’t see him until just now. He asks her why she’s there so early. Not that she’s not still sleeping on the roof in a tent or anything. She says that she’s there to finish up some reports because of the department picnic in the afternoon. Conversation falls dead.
They both start to head for the door into the precinct, but stop and look at each other. Dae Goo goes in first. They sit at their desks. Not looking up from his laptop, Dae Goo asks Soo Sun if she’s had breakfast. She hasn’t. Dae Goo grabs something out of his bag and slides his chair over to sit next to her. She quickly grabs her ruler and holds it out, ordering him to maintain a safe distance! And I am laughing hard. Dae Goo looks at her, waiting for an explanation. She tells him that he’s a big fan of maintaining a safe distance. He responds that no one said anything! And then gives her his breakfast: a footlong from Subway and banana milk. Aw! Advertising and sentimentality! He slides back to his desk and starts typing on his laptop.
Soo Sun looks at the food awkwardly and announces that she’s going to the records room. Dae Goo orders her to stop. She does, shocked by the forcefulness of his voice. He gets up and walks over to her, muttering that she should go after drinking the milk. She should be polite. Aw, he’s taking care of his woman. She looks like the thought of drinking it is gross, but does anyway. Soo Sun takes a quick sip and then hastily makes a retreat with the milk and the sandwich – In case Dae Goo makes her eat that, too. Dae Goo thinks about it a minute and then smiles.
Restaurant. Pan Suk knows the owner, Mr. Woo, but Woo has nothing more to say! It’s the guy from the dossier that Dae Goo was looking at earlier when Pan Suk was asleep. Woo mutters about how Pan Suk was finally leaving him alone but now he’s there to annoy him again! Pan Suk declares that he’s just there to purchase 20 pork hocks for the office picnic. As Pan Suk waits and Woo works, Pan Suk asks him how it’s weird that Boots said that everything was ordered by C.G. But if that was the case, why didn’t C.G. give to Woo, since he handled stuff like that for C.G. before? Woo responds, annoyed, that he doesn't know! He knows nothing, and will say nothing! Pan Suk laughs and tells him to chill. Why are you being so defensive, Woo?
Phone Call. It’s Sunbae with news that Joong Tak has returned from Brazil. Pan Suk almost calls Dae Goo, but he remembers Boots’s warning and doesn’t. He meets Sunbae and Joong Tak at a restaurant. Tak congratulates Pan Suk on catching the killer in Oma’s case. Pan Suk asks about Soo Sun’s statement. Tak says he thought it was strange when Sunbae mentioned the statement being missing. Tak says that he took the statement and gave it to someone to pass it along. He doesn’t remember who he gave it to, though.
Pan Suk urges Tak to try harder to remember because if someone hid that information, that means there was an accomplice on the police force! Sunbae wants him to try, too, since he almost got fired because the pendant disappeared! Tak protests that it was 11 years ago. He forgot about the girl’s testimony until someone mentioned it. Pan Suk asks Tak to call if he remembers anything else, no matter how small.
Sunbae commiserates about how hard it must be for Pan Suk, since the case involved Boots. Then he asks how Chief Kang is doing. That jogs Tak’s memory. Finally! He declares that it was Chief who took that piece of paper! Pan Suk clarifies that he’s talking about Chief Kang Seok Soon? Seok and Seo are very similar and you could mishear Seok as Seo… Hello, Pan Suk? Tak’s certain. She said that she would pass it along to Pan Suk. Sunbae doesn’t want to believe it. Tak declares that he gave it up *because* it was Chief! He wouldn't have given it to anyone else. Pan Suk is shocked by this news.
Office Picnic. Chief gives a welcome. Tae Il clucks at Gook about how he didn’t put enough sun screen on. Heh. They are so like a married couple, even though *both* of them are straight. Pan Suk looks at Chief, now suspicious of her. Fun and Games. It’s musical chairs without the chairs. Instead, you have to grab a group of people the size that the leader (Eung Do) calls out. First group of three, Dae Goo tries to get Gook to let go of Soo Sun and Pan Suk tries to get in between Tae Il and Se Kyung. Heh. Jealousy. Heh. Next round, Dae Goo gets shoved out of his group (Soo Sun and Gook) by Tae Il and Pan Suk ends up on the ground beside him. Heh. Soo Sun looks like she feels bad that Dae Goo was eliminated (against her will). Paper pass game, from mouth to mouth. Eung Do and Toad end up kissing. Spitting by Eung Do and chats that the pair should date now. Gook gets a prize and gives it to Soo Sun (with Dae Goo standing right there). Gook is really trying hard to get her to like him, now. Sorry, dude, it's a little too late. Like 11 years too late. Relay race by different teams and Dae Goo wins it for them (since they were behind for the whole race until he ran). Chariots of Fire theme plays. Dae Goo steals a look over at Soo Sun and they have a moment. Chief gushes over Dae Goo and Pan Suk looks at her thoughtfully.
Team meal. Mom and Dad are proud of how far their kids have come. Eung Do gushes about it and when he asks them if they remember that time they were arrested, he calls Dae Goo on how he never answers with the group. Dae Goo finally answers. I wonder if he's going to start doing that now. Pan Suk agrees that they’ve grown a lot, but adds that they still have a long way to go. Soo Sun imitates Pan Suk: “You'll never become detectives.” Gook frowns and tells her she’d doing it wrong. Gook’s face twitches as he imitates Pan Suk: “My instinct is wrong only as often as someone getting struck by lightening!” Eung Do is rolling but Pan Suk doesn’t find it so funny. At least he doesn’t laugh until he makes Eung Do feel bad for laughing. Heh. I like him.
Later, Pan Suk has left. They bring up Toad and Eung Do smacks his mouth, remembering how he ended up kissing Toad. Then he broaches the uncomfortable topic. He asks Dae Goo and Soo Sun if they’re dating, since the kiss from the other day was real, right? Dae Goo shifts awkwardly and Soo Sun protests that it *wasn’t.* Not what Dae Goo wanted her to say. When Soo Sun declares that Dae Goo isn’t her type, he can’t help but look a little hurt.
Drunk Gook protests that it was just business! Looking at the table, Dae Goo chimes in, “Not me.” He looks over at Soo Sun as he says that it wasn't just business for him. Dang! Eung Do is shocked, Gook is freaking and Tae Il is uncomfortable. Because he’s going to be the one kept up by Gook crying himself to sleep. Dae Goo declares that for him, it was real. Which is why I love him. I’m swooning again! Soo Sun just looks at him.
Soo Sun starts hiccupping and runs for the bathroom, where she freaks out about what he just said. It was real for him? Really? That means he really likes her... Is he insane or something? How could he say it like that in front of everyone? Even as she mutters to herself about what a punk he is, she can’t help but smile. Because he likes her!
Dae Goo is washing his hands when Gook stumbles into the bathroom (being led by Tae Il). Gook ‘yells’ at Dae Goo for saying that to Soo Sun. She was very befuddled! The subtitler used ‘befuddled’! Dae Goo replies that it wasn't within the realm of logic. Gook doesn’t get it, so Tae Il explains that Dae Goo’s logic wasn't in control at the moment, so he just blurted it out. Gook still can’t believe it and asks if Dae Goo is drunk. Like sunbae Gook is. Tae Il drags Gook out of the bathroom before he can get more worked up. After they’re gone, Dae Goo slaps his face several times, freaking out because his logic didn’t control his mouth. He yells at himself for losing his mind. No, you need to go with it more often.
Pan Suk is back at the boys’s apartment, thinking about Chief.
Flashback:
Their meeting at the café: So did you put Ji Yong under me on purpose? I did. Why? Why did you? I've supported him ever since he was in that orphanage. But one day, he came to me and said he wanted to be a cop.
Chief trying to kick him off the Dae Goo assault case: It's an order. Get yourself off that case and take over the Spokesman case!
Dae Goo exits his bedroom. Pan Suk’s surprised he’s not asleep after all those drinks. Dae Goo asks Pan Suk why he isn’t sleeping. Pan Suk replies that if he drinks too much alcohol, it gives him insomnia. He invites Dae Goo to sit. In Dae Goo’s living room. The non-hostile Dae Goo sits and asks about the files. Pan Suk says he’s been collecting them about 8 or 9 years. He started when he thought it might be murder by a hired hit man, but there's not a single document that talks about Boots anywhere. Dae Goo asks Pan Suk if he’s been back to see Boots. He hasn’t. Pan Suk asks if Dae Goo would like to go with him when he does. That’s what Dae Goo was thinking; it might be more effective to convince him if they go together.
They sit there awkwardly, so Dae Goo gets up to go back to bed. He stops when Pan Suk calls him Ji Yong-a. Pan Suk apologizes for not protecting Oma. He says that he’s very sorry. This gets them both a little emotional. Pan Suk retreats to the bathroom.
Moon Bae’s House. He’s having breakfast with Ji Il. Ae Yun arrives and is her obnoxious self to her husband. They’re talking about the stockholders’ meeting. Ae Yun asks Ji Il why he’s worried about some guy when she’s the biggest shareholder of the company! Who says she’s guaranteed to be on his side? And she has a nasty smile on her face as she says it. Ki Jae enter, sits and tells Ae Yun to just stop, so they can eat at least breakfast in peace! He says ‘in peace’ more than once in English. Ki Jae mutters about his stomach…
Moon Bae asks Ki Jae how long he’s just going to hang around doing nothing. The boy should either continue his studies abroad, or find another school here. Ki Jae flicks some wax out of his ear. Then he asks Moon Bae, with enthusiasm, if he should become a cop. That dude before looked so awesome! Hehehe! He imitates Dae Goo presenting Ae Yun with his business card. She slaps him for it and declares that he’s an idiot! Ji Il excuses himself and goes. Completely withdrawn from the family. Ae Yun's face says that she can't stand her husband. And probably lives for tormenting him, too.
Moon Bae goes out to the shooting range for some skeet shooting. Chief arrives. Moon Bae declares that the home stretch is always the problem. Once you lose your focus by at least a little bit, the target flies away and disappears. It doesn't matter if he hits 9 or 99. The problem always arises from that missed one. He tells Chief that she especially seems to be losing her focus often these days. In response, Chief goes over and picks up another rifle and has a little practice. She doesn't miss. She declares that she’s still more focused than he is. She doesn’t shoot at wrong places and miss her target.
Chief asks Moon Bae about those nine he mentioned. Where are they, those nine targets that you've aimed at so far? He asks her what she’s getting at. She replies that he’s already a two-term assemblyman. But he still hasn't called for any public hearings and he’s not active at all in any of his committees. When is he planning on showing her results? Where is he aiming his gun? Chief says that she thought he wouldn't change once he was in power because his roots are in law enforcement. Really? He’s been crooked for years and only you’re now wondering about his integrity? Really? Chief adds that these days she's starting to suspect that he never had the intention do it to begin with.
Moon Bae looks at Chief and asks her how she can say these things, considering how deeply involved she is. She acknowledges that but says that she’s not the same Kang Seok Soon as before. Not the thing to say. He’s going to bump you off if he thinks you’re not on his side anymore. Chief declares that she’s grown up a bit. Moon Bae needs to show her some results and not test her patience anymore. Dang, did Chief just draw a line in the sand over Dae Goo? As Chief walks away, her face betrays her fear but Moon Bae can't see it.
Moving day for Soo Sun. Dae Goo has stopped by. Gook looks at him a little cross-eyed, before he takes some books downstairs. Dae Goo sits in her folding chair and looks at her. She’s awkward. She decides to grab another bundle of her books to take downstairs. Dae Goo tells her that he’ll do it and she should just pack her other stuff. He announces that he’s coming inside. To get the books, of course. They don’t look at each other. He accidentally bumps her as he ties up her books. She starts to fan herself. Without looking at her, Dae Goo asks Soo Sun if he’s really not her type. Aw. Soo Sun sputters but doesn’t answer. Dae Goo looks at her and asks if she really kissed him purely because of business. Soo Sun fans herself faster. Dae Goo sighs.
Dae Goo starts to exit with the books at the same moment that Soo Sun’s moving her jewelry box. The contents spill out onto the floor. Dae Goo starts to pick it up and finds *the pendant.* He asks her where she got it. She says that she found it in the school's science lab when she was in high school. Dae Goo looks at it. It is the pendant! Flashback of Soo Sun seeing Boots and finding the pendant.
Dae Goo and Soo Sun are now down in the conference room with the rest of the team. The pendant is in an evidence bag. Dae Goo looks at her incredulously and asks how she didn’t put it together, since she found it *right after* she saw Boots. Soo Sun answers that she didn’t because she thought the pendant probably belonged to a woman. Dae Goo still can’t believe it. Gook clucks at him, defending her. Eung Do declares that they’re very fortunate. If it weren't for Soo Sun, they would never have found it after 11 years! Heh. And Moon Bae thinks it’s lost forever. I relish the day when he discovers that he’s wrong.
Eung Do asks Pan Suk what they should do with the pendant, pass it along to the prosecutors? Dae Goo declares that they can’t. Pan Suk says they should continue with their own investigation, in secret. The investigation on the killer isn't over, plus they need to discover the identity of Detective Seo. Seok. Pan Suk says that the prosecutors are closing the case based solely on Boots’s confession, so giving them the pendant won’t help anything.
Dae Goo declares that he will continue the investigation. Even though they're all planning on doing it, which is why they're discussing it right now. Pan Suk tells him to keep it a secret, even from Chief. Dae Goo wants to know why. Pan Suk hesitates, so Eung Do fills in an excuse: she’s so principled, she’d make them turn over the pendant. Dae Goo buys it. Pan Suk declares that they must find out who made the pendant. Dae Goo declares that it’s a specialty item, rather than a name brand. He’s looked at every name brand's catalogue for the last 11 years and couldn't find anything like it. Tae Il declares that limited editions and free gifts don't show up in catalogues. Pan Suk suggests they go get a professional's opinion. Heh – he means Sa Kyung.
Sa Kyung declares that she’s never seen anything like it. It must have been made by a designer who only deals with a small number of customers. Sa Kyung suggests putting it up on a jewelry auction site, since someone might recognize it, or seek out the opinion of an actual jewelry expert. Dae Goo leaves. Pan Suk asks Sa Kyung about going to dinner. Sa Kyung plays coy and asks him if he’s going to be free since they found the pendant. She tells him that he should just dedicate the rest of his life to this investigation. It fits him the best and makes him the happiest. I just want to punch her when she’s like this. Pan Suk protests that he’ll make time no matter what, since he has to know why she handed him the divorce papers. Even Park Tae Il knows about it.
Sa Kyung asks Pan Suk what Tae Il said. Pan Suk mutters about human kindness and then asks how she could hug Tae Il so easily like that? How come she never hugs *him* like that? Like a Mom? Pan Suk tells her to call once she decides on a place; he’ll make time no matter what. He mutters again about human kindness and leaves. Sa Kyung laughs and declares that he's getting cuter and cuter.
Soo Sun distributes a photo of the pendant to everyone. She almost says something to Dae Goo but doesn’t. Pan Suk tells Soo Sun and Gook to list the pendant on every popular auction site. They’re to focus on those online groups that deal with rare designer jewelry. He sends Tae Il and Dae Goo out to visit jewelers. They also need to figure out how much it’s worth and if there's any designer who makes similar products. A jeweler declares that all the pendant’s diamonds are less than 0.1 Karat, so it's not too expensive, but the design is very delicate and rare so they can basically get any price. Was it maybe Oma’s? A gift from Ji Il?
Pan Suk’s sitting at his desk. He pulls out that picture of him and Boots that Boots gave him. There’s something written on the back. The subtitler didn't caption what it said. Chief and Toad walk by and Pan Suk stares at her thoughtfully. Dae Goo arrives. They leave to speak to Boots, but he won’t see them. As they leave the prison, Soo Sun calls to say that someone has finally recognized the pendant. It's made by Henri Jeong, a Korean-French designer. It's his 2002 limited edition. It's the "only-for-you" concept, which is supposed to reflect the wearer's personality. One of the posters wonders which rich family went bankrupt for a pendant like that to be on an auction?
Luckily, Henri is in Korea right now for a gallery event. Pan Suk and Dae Goo go to visit him at his house. Nice fake Monet in the background. Henri offers them wine – because everyone knows that the French drink wine! – but they refuse. And Henri has some nice French lady singing in the background. They ask him about the pendant. Henri says that it is his work. He wonders how they got it and Pan Suk says that it’s been lost and they’re trying to locate the owner. Henri declares that the design of the pendant is pretty much the same as the name of its owner, her signature item. So, not Oma’s. Henri declares that since it’s quite old, he needs to double check the name.
Henri pulls out his books – since designers don’t use computers – and the owner of the pendant was Yoo Ae Yun. Ha!!! Dae Goo clarifies that it’s the same Ae Yun and it is. Henri even has her business card. Dae Goo and Pan Suk are completely stunned. As they leave Henri’s, Dae Goo tries to process the news. Ae Yun came to his house 11 years ago. *She* killed Oma? Pan Suk wonders if Oma knew her. Dae Goo doesn’t think so.
As Dae Goo drives, he thinks of Ae Yun arrogantly telling him that he really has no clue. "And what parent does he take after more? It's only be natural to be more passive after having such an experience." Pan Suk sighs and says that there can't be any possible connection between the business owner and Ae Yun. But there is one between Ae Yun and Moon Bae... Dae Goo mentions how it sounded like she knew who he is so Pan Suk and Dae Goo head over to see her.
Plot thickening music plays as Dae Goo and Pan Suk sit in the living room. Ae Yun is there, perturbed, sitting with her arms crossed. Pan Suk wordlessly shows her the pendant and puts it on the coffee table in front of her. She glances over at it and can’t help but look shocked. Pan Suk asks her whether she recognizes the pendant. She looks sick as she starts to reply. Episode ends!
Thoughts
Yay, we’re a little closer to uncovering the truth behind the mystery surrounding Oma’s murder. One thing that I love about Pan Suk is that he wants the to find the truth. He doesn’t care what it costs, because he believes sacrificing for the sake of truth and justice is worth it. In that way, he and Dae Goo are alike. I like that Pan Suk isn’t going to let all his years of friendship with Chief keep him from being suspicious and because he cares for Dae Goo, he’s not going to share his suspicions until he’s totally sure. Of course, Dae Goo’s going to be angry when he finds out that Pan Suk met with Tak without him, but that will be short-lived because catching Oma’s murderer will take precedence.
I did love the look of fear on Ae Yun’s face. I don’t think it’s going to stay there very long, not if Daddy has anything to say about it. I hope they don’t drag that out until the very last episode, where there’s a quick wrap-up that’s really kind of lame. The writer hasn’t let me down so far, so I feel there’s good odds that I’m not going to be disappointed.
We had a big step forward in the romance department – for both couples. Although more so on Soo Sun and Dae Goo’s romance. Sa Kyung is really starting to get on my nerves with how she’s treating Pan Suk. The man will obviously do anything for her and he’s not the same idiot she was married to before. I understand her not wanting it to go back to the way it was before, but they’re different people now, both of them. I don’t think Pan Suk ever intentionally took Sa Kyung for granted; I think she didn’t speak up and so they ended up here. And since the accident, she’s done plenty of things to make him pay – like sleeping with other *young* men. She needs to quit already. Quit and reconcile.
I do like how Dae Goo and Soo Sun on pretty equal footing as far as their romance goes. No one is the more mature one, because at different times, one of them is the one that’s more mature. In some ways, they’re both their teenage selves when dealing with their relationship. But I love that Dae Goo declares himself first, and in front of everybody, because he’s not ashamed about it. He is very much acting the Oppa in that situation. I hope Soo Sun snaps out of it, soon, because Dae Goo’s trust of other people is fragile and he could easily get discouraged.
It is too bad for Gook, but he should find a girl that looks at him as more than just a friend. Tae Il needs to find a girl, too, and stop pining for Sa Kyung. It’s great that Eung Do’s family seems as sweet and good-natured as he is.
Love that we’ve got the potential for roommate hijinks between Pan Suk and Dae Goo. Although I was wondering if the timing of it wasn’t a little fishy. Pan Suk better sweep for bugs and cameras when he gets home. One thing that was great about the problem, though, is because it showed Dae Goo that Pan Suk never put the case to bed. There’s tons of evidence that he’s collected and it was important enough to him to protect it from water damage… I really like how, more and more, Dae Goo is looking at Pan Suk with vulnerability, even if it’s a hesitating vulnerability. I like, too, how Dae Goo has filled a void in Pan Suk’s life, the one left by his son. Not that anyone can replace his son, but Dae Goo is like a son now, one that Pan Suk needs to protect and not fail doing it, like he did last time.
One of the best moments in the entire show is when Pan Suk apologized to Ji Yong about what happened to Oma. I still feel misty when I think about it. It was an important moment in their relationship, because, I think, for the first time, Dae Goo really believed it and started to forgive him for it.
I’m still wondering what was going on with that conversation between Moon Bae and Chief. This is why the ends don’t justify the means or selling your soul, because most times, that preliminary goal is going to be lost in self-preservation. I think when whatever it is comes out, it’s going to make Chief a little less evil.
Just have to point out that there *was* a clue on the photo that Boots gave Pan Suk. I can’t wait to see how it pans out.
And finally, the pendant has come to the surface. It definitively points to the Yoon family. It definitely connects them to the murder. Now it’s just a question of *proving* it. I did like Pan Suk’s little smirk as he presented her with the pendant. It’s going to be interesting how she’s going to weasel out of this one.
