She Was Pretty Episode 10 Recap

Episode starts with Hye Jin driving in Ah Reum’s car, which is smoking. Thinking it’s fog, she turns on the wipers but after a moment, she realizes that it smells like smoke. Then it starts sputtering and then dies all together. She’s able to pull it over to the side of the road.

She gets out of the car, coughing at the smoke, and then it starts to rain. Luckily she had an umbrella with her. She tries to check on the engine, but she doesn’t know anything about cars, and decides to call someone. Problem: she has no idea where she is. She starts walking.

Now she’s getting very cold and comes upon Sung Joon desperately asking about the condition of the driver of the accident. She’s surprised that he’s there and gets his attention by calling him ‘Deputy Chief Editor.’ He immediately goes over and hugs her, causing her to drop the umbrella.

And Shin Hyuk sees everything from across the street. He sighs, relieved that she’s okay.

Sung Joon lets go of Hye Jin and immediately starts to scold her. Is she an idiot? How could she make a mistake with a car? What if something had happened to her! He is really still freaking out. She answers ‘no’ – probably to his first question, heh – and then asks him if he’s okay. It's raining so hard; how did he drive? He just stares at her, his hands still on her shoulders.

She notices that he’s soaked and grabs for her umbrella. He’s still standing there like he’s in shock. He won’t stop looking at her face. She tells him that he’s soaked and asks if there really was no problem. Is he really ok? She mentions the rain again and asks how he could have come this far. He answers that he didn't know that it was raining. And it is really raining loudly. They stare at each other.

♫ Always, my love next to me ♫

Across the street, Shin Hyuk chuckles – almost bitterly.

♫ Even if you sometimes think about me, even if you sometimes long for me ♫

He turns around and leaves, blood dripping down his arm from where he’s hurt himself.

♫ Even if you sometimes smile at me, it's okay. ♫

He’s got a limp, too.

♫ This feeling of missing you, it seems like love. ♫

He returns to his bike, which is smoking, broken and on the ground. That’s why he didn’t reach her first. Poor Shin Hyuk. He needs to get the girl! His poor bike. Poor Shin Hyuk.

♫ I can't let you go. ♫

And he’s having to go through this in the rain. Poor Shin Hyuk.

Hye Jin and Sung Joon get into his car and she calls into The Most. She apologizes for making them worry. The car was towed away and she set up another date for the interview. The author is going to be working in Haein-ri so Hye Jin’s going to visit her there. Sung Joon looks like he’s still a bit in shock. But I like his hair hanging over his forehead. She hangs up the phone.

Wordlessly, Sung Joon reaches into the backseat and gets Hye Jin a blanket. She protests that he got more soaked! And whatever that stylist did to her hair is pretty good, since her vicious curls haven’t shown up. He tells her to listen to his words. A little frustrated, but not the angry kind. He tucks the blanket around her as he says that he turned the heat on so her seat should be warm soon. He notices the smudge on her nose and, reaching over, begins to wipe it off while asking why she goes around with her nose smeared. She stops him, saying that she’ll do it.

As they drive back to Seoul, to break the silence, Hye Jin turns on the radio. A love song comes on.

♫  When I hold you in my arms I can feel what's you've been through.  ♫

Sung Joon clears his throat, feeling awkward. Hye Jin switches channels.

♫ Please hold me ♫

Sung Joon jerks slightly but keeps on driving.

♫ Please hold me ♫
♫ Please hold me ♫
♫ I asked you to hold me ♫

Hye Jin tries to shut off the radio, turning it up louder but then, finally, succeeds. Hehe!

Sung Joon steals a glance in her direction.

They reach the alley by where Hye Jin lives. He stops her from exiting the car by saying her name – with the ‘shi’ on the end – and after a pause, tells her to rest well. She quickly tells him to go back well and hurries out of the car.

As she walks away, she thinks about how he grabbed her, caught her when she was going to fall out of her chair, touched her face in the rain. She thinks: When we try to admit our lies and tell the truth, we end up hesitating from lack of courage. And... that long hesitation, in one moment, makes it impossible for you to have courage to tell the truth. She works up the courage to go back and say something, but as she turns around, Sung Joon drives away. She runs after him. And her really high heels keep her from catching him.

Sung Joon gets home but doesn’t get out of his car.

♫ It could be that, because I don't know love  ♫
♫ I wasn't able to say anything ♫

He looks over at the blanket where Hye Jin was sitting.

♫  You were always next to me, you're always looking at me ♫

Hye Jin arrives in a taxi and hurries into his building.

♫  I guess you still don't know.  ♫

She sees him and says his name – not that loudly so that he hears her. Sung Joon says her name, but he’s not talking to her. He hasn’t seen her. Oh, no. It’s about to come out now. Hye Jin looks to see who he’s talking to … and it’s Ha Ri.

Her VO says: But, even if we gather the courage and decide to reveal the truth, it can happen that some truths make us more uncomfortable than lies.

Ha Ri asks Sung Joon if something happened.

Hye Jin is stunned to see Ha Ri and asks why she’s there.

Ha Ri asks if Sung Joon is okay. He’s not looking at her. He apologizes and says that he couldn't keep his word. He looks up at her and says that he didn't keep his word, once again, Hye Jin-a. She asks if something happened. He apologizes again and says that he’s really sorry to her. He asks if he couldn’t go up and rest. She fiddles with her letter and, instead of giving it to him, agrees to that idea, saying that he doesn’t look too well today and should go in and rest.

She walks away and he turns around to watch her go, thinking that from now on, he... might do even more things he should be sorry to her for. He shouldn't do this to her but... The promise not to do anything that'd make her concerned... He might not be able to keep it. Ooooo.

Hye Jin walks away from Sung Joon’s building, putting all the pieces together:

Joon Woo: Did you know that our Deputy Chief Editor has a girlfriend? I heard she's totally pretty.

Ha Ri: Did anything happen during your work trip?
Hye Jin:  Anything? Like what?
Ha Ri: I was just wondering it you hadn't been uncomfortable because of Ji Sung Joon...

Calling congratulations to Ha Ri’s boyfriend over the phone and Ha Ri hanging up the phone.

She’s so hurt by this realization that she’s not paying attention to her surroundings. She crosses the street into traffic and barely misses getting hit. She stops in the middle of the street and just stands there. Then she takes the bus and rides it to the end of the line. The driver has to get her attention.

Her phone rings. It’s Shin Hyuk. He asks where she is. She’s not sure. Where this is, or what's what... She’s not the least bit sure.

Hospital. Nurse wonders where the motorcycle accident patient went. Shin Hyuk.

Shin Hyuk arrives in a red Mustang. No, he doesn’t have money at all. Hye Jin is sitting on the ground, despondent. Shin Hyuk walks up to her and sighs. He asks what she’s doing? Why did she come all the way there? Heartbreak evident, she asks why these kind of things happen. Shin Hyuk squats and has to move his right arm with his left hand. Did he leave without getting an x-ray?! He sighs and asks what Hye Jin’s going to do now? Is she going to bicker with her friend, asking why her friend did that? Or is she going to tell the Deputy Chief Editor everything first?

Hye Jin says that she’s going to have to wait for her friend a little bit. Shin Hyuk wants to know what she means. She says that Ha Ri asked her to wait a little bit until Ha Ri can tell her everything... Ha Ri will definitely have a reason. Just like she had a reason to lie to Sung Joon, Ha Ri must also have a reason. There definitely will be. Wow, Hye Jin is really taking this well. And still trusting her friend. And honestly, I think Ha Ri deserves that trust. Yes, she’s made bad choices and has done something terrible, but she’s also going to set it right – that’s the 2nd time she’s tried to give Sung Joon the letter – which is what Hye Jin is faithful that Ha Ri will do. It’s not that Ha Ri didn’t let her down, but that Ha Ri will be that friend that Hye Jin knows her to be. She’s giving Ha Ri the benefit of the doubt.

Shin Hyuk says that he’s envious of Ha Ri. Why? It's normally like this:

Hey! How could you do that?! And you dare call yourself my friend? You bad bitch! And his high-pitched hysterical girl is classic.

He says that people usually act like that. He smiles and says that the fact that Ha Ri has friend like Hye Jin, who seems almost foolish to trust her, he’s envious. He smiles again and sighs that Ha Ri’s so blessed. Hye Jin says that because it's not just anyone. It's Ha Ri. Because it's her friend, Ha Ri. Her voice breaks a little saying that ‘Ha Ri-niku.’

Shin Hyuk sighs again, hurting for Hye Jin. Standing up – which is quite painful – he tells Jackson that they should stop there and go. It's late. He lets an “Aigoo, my legs” escape. And he can’t stand up because it hurts so much. As she asks what about his legs, he quickly touches back and forth between his tongue and his nose.

I looked into why he was doing that and Koreans believe that doing this after your legs fall asleep will help feeling come back.

Hye Jin tries to stand up and her legs have definitely fallen asleep. Groaning, she stands as Shin Hyuk stomps his feet to get feeling back.

Hye Jin notices the car and asks if it’s rented. It looks expensive. He says he borrowed it from a friend. Shin Hyuk charming smile. A friend named Shin Hyuk. And I bet that isn’t even his real name but his under cover name so he can work at the magazine without people knowing that he’s connected. She asks what happened to his motorbike. He shrugs and asks what could have happened to it. Butthead. Instead of saying that he crashed it rushing to rescue her, he’s going to say nothing. Another Shin Hyuk charming smile. Then he groans loudly and walks back to the car. Hye Jin smiles slightly. He got her to smile.

He drops her off at home. She thanks him. She says that she’s really blessed. Shin Hyuk basically rolls his eyes and says that he doesn’t know what she’s saying because it's so out of the blue. She replies that at time like these, she has a friend like him to whom she can tell all these things. So she’s really blessed. He suggests that she give him 1000 won or something? Instead of just being grateful with words? She makes a face – which makes him smile because he likes teasing her – and tells him to go on. She thanks him again.

Before she goes in, he stops her. When everything gets back to normal, will she be going back to Deputy Chief Editor? I’m hurting for him. Hye Jin nods and says that she wants to. She likes Sung Joon. Shin Hyuk’s face holds its expression. Hye Jin says that she’s pretty sure Sung Joon feels the same way. Shin Hyuk looks away, saying that he understands, putting a smile on his face. He nods to himself and gives her a fist bump ‘fighting.’ She goes inside and Shin Hyuk sighs loudly.

Hye Jin enters to find Ha Ri gluing her shoe and sole back together. When Hye Jin asks what she’s doing, Ha Ri says that they looked so messy. Since it's obvious Hye Jin won't throw them out even if Ha Ri tells her to, Ha Ri thought she should at least stick this back on. The glue doesn’t work and Ha Ri declares that Hye Jin’s going to get a new pair even if she has to drag Hye Jin with her. If she buys a pair for Hye Jin, please wear them this time instead of refusing again. Her voice distant, she tells Ha Ri ‘okay, do that.’

Ha Ri looks at Hye Jin and smiles. She asks what happened. Hye Jin usually hates it when she tells Hye Jin she want to buy something. Hye Jin replies that Ha Ri’s her friend. Please do that. Ha Ri smiles widely and says that it’s so nice that she’s listening to finally. Hye Jin says that they should do that. She’ll be waiting. Ha Ri smile grows wider. Waiting for it too? What would have happened if she hadn't have offered to buy Hye Jin a pair?

Sung Joon is at home, sitting in a chair, looking at a framed picture. He says to himself – and his hair is flopped over his forehead again – that that's right. It was the first time. He didn't think about what happened that day in the rain. We see the picture; it’s Sung Joon and his Oma. He tells Oma that it was the first time.

Hye Jin is in bed, looking at the Puzzle Piece. She sighs.

Next day, Hye Jin is walking to work and comes across Sung Joon about to get his morning coffee. She thinks of his grabbing her in that hug as the radio song plays: ♫  Please hold me, please hold me.  ♫ She shakes the thought out of her head and asks how she’s supposed to look at him? How does she behave? Sung Joon walks over to her and suggests they get some coffee together. His treat. She turns him down, saying she already had coffee this morning.

Hye Jin bows and tries to walk away, but Sung Joon pulls her back by her purse strap. Heh. He tells her to have some more then. When she hesitates, he orders her to follow him, grabs her arm and pulls her into the café. Inside, he basically orders for her and then hijacks the drinks so she has to sit with him. She is very uncomfortable and won’t look at him.

He asks if she slept okay. She nods and nervously sips her iced coffee. He says that he couldn't sleep. He kept thinking about what happened yesterday. She chokes on her iced coffee. She spots Shin Hyuk out the window, walking. She tells Sung Joon that she has to go tell Shin Hyuk something and basically runs.

Outside, he asks why she’s popping out from there? She tells him to pretend they're talking and keep walking. So they start walking. Shin Hyuk asks if something’s wrong. He starts to turn in Sung Joon’s direction – and Sung Joon is watching it all – but she nervously tells him not look over there! It's Ji Sung Joon. He asks what the big deal is. Her nerves obvious, she says that she doesn't know what to talk about and what to do now that she’s looking at his face. She feels like she’s going crazy.

Shin Hyuk laughs – annoyed and not believing that the girl that he like is asking for help with another guy. He asks if she wants him to put on an act? Of course she does. Bitter smiling from Shin Hyuk. Then, overly dramatic, he asks what happened! His eyes are practically popping out of his head – hysterical. He puts his hand to his mouth and laughs dramatically, saying “Omo, really?” Throwing his arms wide, he tells her, “Wow, congrats!”

Sung Joon strains to see what they’re doing. Shin Hyuk tells her to hurry up and laugh. She laughs really fakely and Shin Hyuk pretends like he’s laughing. They hurry away. Sung Joon sighs, jealous, and puts his hand to his face. He exhales to calm himself and glares after him.

At work, Ha Ri is quickly gathering everyone’s ties. It’s for a VIP who spilled coffee on his tie. Ha Ri speaks in English and Mr. David takes someone’s tie. Another worker comes up and asks if Mr. David’s the American buyer staying in #2009. She explains about the ties and they laugh that she got her morning exercise.

Hye Jin starts to go into the conference room but Sung Joon is in there. She turns around to run away but Shin Hyuk is there to ask what she’s doing. When she whines her explanation, he laughs and asks if she’s that concerned about Sung Joon. She is to the point of going crazy! By this time, everyone else is filing into the conference room and Hye Jin decides to hide herself among them. Shin Hyuk laughs. Then he sighs – because the girl he likes is clueless and likes someone else.

During the meeting, Sung Joon does nothing but stare at Hye Jin. When Joo Young stops talking, he acts like he’s been listening and says that they should end the meeting there. He adds that this is their first proper weekend off so they should get some rest. Everyone celebrates the prospect of not working on the weekend. Hye Jin tries to avoid looking at Sung Joon directly but he addresses her and asks for the minutes as soon as she’s finished.

Bringing the minutes, Hye Jin hurries in and can’t stop replaying the hug as she looks at him. She shakes her head violently to clear out the memory and he asks what she’s doing? Shaking her head? She shakes that it’s nothing. She hands over the minutes and tries to hurry out of his office, but he tells her to sit until he’s done reading them. Just in case there's something wrong. Sure. Because there was never the possibility of them being wrong before… She reluctantly agrees.

She sits and the chair is very close to the ground. He asks what she’s doing, saying that it looks uncomfortable. She says that she’s very comfortable. He replies that maybe she’s very comfortable but it's very uncomfortable for him. He gets up and pulls her seat up. Of course, he has to lean in really close to do it. Hye Jin’s eyes bulge, silently freaking. When he stands up, he twitches a little, slightly freaking out too because of his new-found attraction for Hye Jin. He sits again.

She squirms as she sits, which Sung Joon notices. He tries to bring up the day before but she leaps up, sputtering that Shin Hyuk asked her to find some.. article quickly for him. After she tries to hurry out by can’t get the door open. Sung Joon walks over and opens *the other one.* She hurries away and after she’s gone, he leans against his door and exhales loudly, revealing that he was just as nervous.

Ra Ra enters and reminds him about the dinner the next evening, handing him a suit to wear. It's only proper to come dressed in their brand. Ra Ra says that the thought of meeting him separately outside on a weekend, is gives her such a feeling of excitement. She exits. When Sung Joon looks after her, she’s turned around and she gives him an air kiss. His response? Walk back to his desk.

Sung Joon gets a phone call. It’s a young girl. My bet is on Hye Rin.

Ah Reum is looking at someone’s SMS feed and notes that he updated his status. He is that writer, Ten, that they were trying to figure out the identity of. Joon Woo reads: Finally, it seems to meet the readers in three weeks. The title of the new novel is 'Memory.’ Shin Hyuk walks up and jokes that Ten’s new novel’s main character, is it USB? Nobody but him laughs. And I wonder if he’s the writer. Don’t know why, but now I suspect him, too. Eun Yung remembers that Ten’s publisher wants them to review the book when it’s released. Shin Hyuk groans… because he’ll have to do it.

Joon Woo remarks that whenever Shin Hyuk writes a review, it becomes news. Shin Hyuk says that he’s not really feeling Ten. Lee Kyung can’t understand why not. There's no other world famous writer like him. Shin Hyuk replies that he’s annoyingly too famous. So maybe it’s not Shin Hyuk. He adds that it’s not fun reviewing the work of writers who are already so famous. It's much more fun to let the public know about the talented new writers. Joo Young nods with agreement.

More wondering who Ten is. Ra Ra enters and talks to her caller in ‘French.’ French is in quotes because the only way I understood what she said was reading the subtitles (and I speak French). Joon Woo gives Ra Ra a thumbs up, saying that she’s so cool. Seol smiles to herself and thinks that he's complimenting his own aunt. How could she not notice when he's being so obvious? They start to wonder how many languages Ra Ra actually does she speak. Ah Reum comments that she thought Ra Ra was just a figurehead but she's actually capable. Seriously, their Chief Editor especially, what's her true identity? Probably Ten.

Ra Ra is in her office, steaming her face.

Time for lunch. Office is going out together. Shin Hyuk is strangely absent. Hye Jin calls him and the nurse answers his phone. Busted. Hye Jin goes to find him and comes across him walking back to The Most. He pretends like it’s nothing. She asks again where he got hurt. Is it bad? He ignores the question, moaning that he’s hungry. She grabs his hurt arm and he squirms dramatically about going to eat to play it off. Hye Jin doesn’t pick up on his pain.

The caller was Hye Rin. Sung Joon has taken her to lunch. He makes the mistake of telling her to order whatever she wants. He laughs when she asks for some wine. While they eat, Sung Joon tells Hye Rin that she really resembles Hye Jin when she was young. How can Hye Rin look so similar? Hye Rin puts her utensils down and sighs. She tells him that it’s very offensive for her to hear. He can't compare her to Kim Hye Jin! She’s so much prettier than Hye Jin! Sung Joon laughs as Hye Rin continues that Kim Hye Jin is not pretty at all. She's just strong... but... still, she's a decent person. There's not much to see but Hye Jin gets told a lot that she has a good personality.

Sung Joon nods and says – in a voice that sounds full of regret – that Hye Rin’s sister is good and a nice person. He doesn’t say it loud enough for Hye Rin to hear, though. Hye Rin starts to ask how Hye Jin is doing, but gets interrupted by a work phone call.

Hye Jin has taken Shin Hyuk out for spaghetti. He groans loudly about his hurt arm and pretends that he can’t use the chopsticks at all. Well, he is using his left hand and he’s right handed. He whines that Hye Jin will have to feed him. She rolls her eyes and takes the chopsticks. She tells him that he should say how he got hurt. He moans that it splattered and tells her to clean it up for him. She grumbles but does it. She asks if he fell while fooling around again. He wonders if he did. If not, did he get in a fight with someone? Ah, did he? She gets annoyed. He pretends to have trouble swallowing and groans about having to get the water himself. Hye Jin goes for the water.

Shin Hyuk quickly uses his hurt arm to shove spaghetti in his mouth. Hye Jin returns and he moans about his hurt arm. Looking pathetic, he asks for a piece of pickled radish. Totally goofy face as he waits. She squirms and throws the radish on his tongue. He happily eats it and tells her that it’s delicious.

Walking away from the restaurant, Shin Hyuk is smiling. She asks again about how he hurt himself. He says – like she’s making a big deal out of nothing – that he just fell while riding his motorcycle. Hurrying to rescue you in the pouring rain. He tells him that it looked dangerous. Then she demands the keys for his bike. He laughs and slaps away her hand. She can’t believe this man. She hurries in front of him and throws her arms wide to block his way, demanding the keys!

He looks at her and asks if she’ll date him. She asks what he means. He replies that if not, she shouldn’t do that. Making his heart flutter for no reason. Aw. I hope that’s how, after she realizes that she’s really in love with him, that she tells him so. He pushes down her arm and walks by. She is momentarily stunned and then convinces herself that he’s joking around again! He protests that he’s not joking.

Sung Joon and Hye Rin round the corner behind them. She says goodbye, but not before making him promise not to tell Hye Jin that they ate together.

At work, Ha Ri is getting the news that Mr. David wasn’t just an important VIP, he was a very, very important VIP who was touched by her getting him a new tie. She should expect a reward.

At The Most, there’s a terrible scream from Ra Ra over the suit that Sung Joon is supposed to wear. Why is this... why is this still here? They quickly call him, but he doesn’t pick up. Ra Ra wants someone to take the suit by his house and Hye Jin gets the job. She has to remind him until he goes deaf to wear it. Hye Jin tries to drop it off at the concierge – saying that her name is Han Seol – but Sung Joon catches her, asking if she changed her name.

She, of course, tries to hurry away, but Sung Joon invites her up for some tea. She quickly refuses and he asks if he makes her feel uncomfortable? Even though she already told him that he did. That was a different kind of uncomfortable. To prove him wrong, she goes up for the tea.

She chugs the extremely hot tea and winces from the pain of it. She gasps that she’s okay. Her insides are very strong so thanks for the drink. She tries to leave but he says that he has something to tell her. He pours her another cup and tells her not to drink it up like cold water this time. He starts to talk about yesterday, but she cuts him off and says that it was all because Sung Joon was worried, as a colleague. If she knew that one of her team mates had gotten into an accident, she'd come running too. He says that he wouldn’t. Only because it was her that he came running. She looks at him.

At first, he was a little annoyed but, at-at a certain point, he’s not sure when, while talking together, he’s come to like the time they spent together. The more he cared about her, he felt like he was becoming a bad person so he’s even tried to dislike her but he realized it last night. To the extent that he can't deny, he gets bothered by her, very much. She just looks at him. Then she reaches for her tea and spills it all over herself. Sung Joon hurries to get her a change of clothes. She tries to protest, but he insists.

The gossip trio are enjoying a pizza. Shin Hyuk arrives and helps himself to a piece. He notes that he doesn’t see Jackson and they say that she went to Sung Joon’s house. Shin Hyuk is not happy about that news.

Hye Jin has changed into his hoodie and is pacing nervously in his bathroom. She sits. Sung Joon knocks and the door and asks why she’s not coming out. She quickly hurries out and there’s awkward looks. She tries to walk by but wrist grab. He mutters that his clothes are really big on her. He starts to roll up her sleeves. As he does, he apologizes for making her uncomfortable. He wasn't telling her so they could do something about it. He just wanted to tell her how he felt.

He says that at first, he kept noticing her because she reminded him of someone he once knew. There was no reason for it but she seemed like someone he had known for a long time. He became honest to a fault when he was with her. Meeting someone who he kept showing himself to without realizing, meeting someone who made him want to talk about himself... When he looks up, she’s staring at him, her eyes wet. He asks what’s wrong. Did he make a mistake? She says that something went in her eye.

She tries to leave, but Sung Joon says that he’ll drive her. As he goes to get his keys, a tear escapes her eye. She doesn’t wait for him.

♫ Sometimes even though I think about you,  ♫
♫ sometimes even if I long for you♫
♫ Sometime even if It makes me laugh, it's okay. ♫
♫ Because even this feeling of longing  ♫
♫ feels like love ♫

Sung Joon sadly looks at Hye Jin’s wet shirt.

♫  I can't let you go ♫
♫ I can't let you go. ♫

Doorbell. He opens it, asking why she left without saying– but it’s not Hye Jin. It’s a smiling Shin Hyuk. Of course it is. You fight for your woman! Sung Joon asks, sounding annoyed, why Shin Hyuk’s there again. Shin Hyuk agrees. Somehow he just ended up coming there again. He lets himself in. He says that he was passing by and got thirsty. He wanted to drink some beer. And not so discretely looks for Jackson. Heh. He asks if Sung Joon has the beer he left? Opens the fridge and it's still there.

He starts to drink one, when Sung Joon grabs his wrist – his hurt wrist – and smacks the can out of it. Sung Joon demands to know who Sung Joon is. Is he Kim Hye Jin's guardian? Why does he keep following her around? Shin Hyuk pulls Sung Joon’s hand away, saying that you could says that he’s a guardian since they have an oppa and dongseng relationship. What about Sung Joon? Who is he to Kim Hye Jin? A black knight who comes to her rescue through the pouring rain when she's in danger? He looked very cool. Shin Hyuk thought they were shooting a movie. Which says that he was there.

Sung Joon snaps back that, unlike someone else, he doesn't wrap his feelings up in a joke, like a coward. Shin Hyuk chuckles – the kind of chuckle when you want to punch someone – but clears his face to differently sigh. He looks down at the spilled beer and says that he will drink the beer at home. A smile and “See you next time.” He leaves. Outside of Sung Joon’s apartment, he sighs and the façade falls away to a very serious face.

Seol is out eating pasta with Joon Woo. She thinks that even though it's okay that he doesn't act like he's a son from a wealthy family, but, still, must they come to a place like this always? Joon Woo notices her discomfort and concludes that she can't eat spicy foods. It's too bad he picked this place. He’s a regular there. He’ll have to come here with someone else from now on. Immediately Seol pretends to love it. Even though she’s sweating and her nose is running, she protests that she loves the soup!

They finish eating and Joon Woo starts to clean up all the napkins (that Seol has been wiping her nose on). Seol asks what he’s doing; they’re dirty! Joon Woo smiles and says that it’s okay because they’re hers. They leave and Seol asks what he meant by that. Does he like her? Joon Woo says that he does. He smiles and asks if she didn’t know. She asks if they’re dating now. And she’s indignant rather than smiling. He nods and says “Sure.” She blinks and tells him to kiss her. He agrees and gives her a peck. She holds out her hand and tells him to hold it. He smiles, nods and softly says, “Okay.” He holds her hand. Now she starts to smile.

Shin Hyuk is out drinking outside the convenience store. Ha Ri sits across from him and asks if he knows he looks like an outcast from far away. He replies that it’s not his style to be nosy but let him meddle just once more. She knows everything; Hye Jin. Ha Ri doesn’t move.

Ha Ri slowly walks home. As she reaches it, she thinks of Shin Hyuk said: Hye Jin said she'll wait for her so Ha Ri can tell her first and that Ha Ri must have had a good reason for it. Ha Ri can’t bring herself to go inside. Eventually she makes it inside and Hye Jin is sitting, looking at her shoes. Ha Ri – looking afraid to speak – as what Hye Jin’s doing. Hye Jin asks if she’s eaten. Ha Ri asks what time it is. Hye Jin doesn’t really answer.

Ha Ri says Hye Jin’s name and says that tomorrow she’ll return back to her place. Just wait until tomorrow. Just one more day. Then, she'll really go back to her place. Hye Jin looks up at her, her eyes watery. Ha Ri thanks Hye Jin for waiting for her. For letting her tell Hye Jin herself. Hye Jin doesn’t say anything.

Hye Jin finishes up her interview with that writer. Both she and Writer enjoyed the interview. Writer compliments her for her question and her knowledge of the subject. Hye Jin admits that her dream was to become an author of children's books when she was little, so she’s very envious of Writer for writing like this. Writer encourages her to keep on writing. And one day Shin Hyuk will write about you in The Most. Hopefully as your boyfriend.

Hye Jin shakes her head and asks how she could start now. Writer says that she only started writing after she had her baby. She promises Hye Jin a book as a present. Writer leans in and says that it doesn't sell well, but it’s good as a memento. Hye Jin happily thanks her for the ‘Story of Patji.’ The inscription says “Hoping you'll keep on dreaming. Lee Ee Eun.”

Later, Hye Jin walks back from the interview and comes across the Renoir exhibit. She goes inside and looks at their painting. Guess who just happens to be there, too. Sung Joon walks up next to her as she smiles at Their painting. She notices him as she turns to leave and her surprise gets his attention. He didn’t know her, either. He asks if she came to see the painting. She did, since she was on her way back from her interview. Sung Joon asks if she did well on her first interview. She isn’t sure but, regardless, she’s going to try and write a good article.

Some kids walk up and notice Sung Joon’s scarf. It’s like theirs. Little boy asks if Ajusshi has a runny nose, too. Sung Joon awkwardly pulls off the scarf and stuffs it in his pocket. Hye Jin tells them that Sung Joon is wearing a very fashionable outfit. It only looks good because it's him. Sung Joon smiles and puts the scarf back on. Boy asks why Noona is taking that ajusshi's side? Does he love him? Really? The kids start to laugh and tease her about loving Sung Joon. She snaps at them to get going. Sung Joon chuckles.

As they walk away, Hye Jin says that, thinking about it, he always wears it that way. He starts to take it off again. She stops him and tells him that it looks good. Man approaches and asks for their help taking a picture. Hye Jin agrees. The man and his woman pose in front of an enlarged replica of their painting and imitate the pose. Wow, could we get anything more contrived to move Hye Jin and Sung Joon forward?

Woman offers to reciprocate. Hye Jin tries to turn her down, but Sung Joon pulls out his phone and hands it over. They stand in front of the poster, straight-faced. Woman gives them a hard time, so they smile.

Sung Joon offers to drop Hye Jin off at home. It's on his way to a meeting. Hye Jin turns him down since she wants to stop by the library and then stop by the office too. She has to sort out the article and organize all her notes from the interview. As Sung Joon starts to leave, Hye Jin says that she’ll see him tomorrow. He points out that tomorrow is Sunday. She repeats that even so, she'll see him tomorrow. They smile at each other.

As Sung Joon drives, he gets a phone call. It’s Ha Ri asking if he has time later. He explains that he’s on his way to meeting and it might run late. He starts to propose that they meet tomorrow, but stops, since he’s going to see Hye Jin tomorrow. He says that they should see each other today even if it's late. He also has something he needs to tell her. That’s not ominous.

Meeting with the man from Valley. Lots of accents all around as everyone speaks English. And the white guy has the worst pronunciation. Again, subtitles are the only reason I understood what he said.

Ha Ri prepares for her meeting with Sung Joon.

Shin Hyuk gets on the elevator as Hye Jin walks up. He doesn’t here her call him ‘Idiot Reporter’ and the doors close. She supposes that he came to work on the weekend, too. Or to visit his father, the Chairman. Poong Ho is at work, just back from visiting a bunch of resorts. He asks why she’s there. She explains about her interview and Poong Ho puts it together that it’s the author she was driving to see when the car died. Poong Ho remarks that they were really worried that she’d get in an accident. Poong Ho comments that at least that idiot Shin Hyuk went after her. It could have been so much worse with that broken car. Shin Hyuk must have made a huge deal about showing up. Didn't he ask for a lot of freebies from her again? Wow, I’m kind of getting annoyed at the writers right now. Things are feeling really contrived this episode.

Hye Jin asks what he’s talking about. Poong Ho explains about how Shin Hyuk thought she got into an accident so he ran out of here faster than Usain Bolt. Didn't they meet up? She puts it together and rushes out. She manages to find him leaving the building. Again, so convenient. He asks why she’s there. She came to work on a weekend? She asks if he came that night. He looks at her like her question is bizarre and says that he’s not sure what she’s trying to say.

She clarifies: Yadong-dong. There’s a slight change in his expression, because he knows that she’s found out. He swallows and waits for her to finish. She asks if it’s where he had his motorcycle accident? Did he get hurt trying to get her? He doesn’t answer.

Sung Joon’s meeting ended early. He asks where Ha Ri is. She’s at work and says that she’ll meet him later.

Hye Jin demands that Shin Hyuk answer her as he squirms. Did he get hurt because of her? Is that right? He smiles a frustrated smile and nods. Then he plasters that carefree smile on his face and says that yeah, that's right. He got hurt while going to Jackson. Hye Jin sighs, frustrated. Still smiling, he asks why she’s sighed. Does she feel burdened? She doesn’t answer because she can’t believe it. He tells her to go ahead and be burdened and feel sorry towards him. He also… he wants Jackson to be concerned about him, too. He’s ripping out my heart!

She starts to say something – because she’s finally realized that he actually *does* like her and isn’t kidding about it – and Shin Hyuk holds up his phone. He plays her promise and says that the last favor... He’s going to use it today. That smile again. He says that his last favor... “is this.” And pulls her into a hug. Really rip my heart out. Please let him get the girl! He tells Jackson that he doesn’t think of her as a friend. He can never be friends.

Ha Ri and her boss say goodbye to Mr. David. Boss compliments her on working hard on her day off. She smiles at his compliment. Boss goes back inside and Ha Ri checks her phone. Man says her name – and it sounds like Sung Joon. She answers ‘yes,’ and turns around to see Sung Joon. I thought that was his voice. And how did I know that he was going to go to the hotel. She says his name.

Hye Jin’s VO says: When we are about to admit our lies and tell the truth, we lack the courage and end up hesitating. And at times, that long hesitation won't even allow you a moment to tell the truth.

He walks up to her and asks Min Ha Ri: Who are you? She can’t say anything. Episode ends.

Thoughts

Well, the truth is finally out. Even though Sung Joon realized that he was in love with Hye Jin. Ironic that just as he was going to apologize to ‘Hye Jin’ for falling for Hye Jin. And that Ha Ri was going to confess to being Ha Ri. But instead, the writers had him discover it.

I don’t know about you, but lots in this episode felt contrived, like the writers got lazy. At least Shin Hyuk got to confess *first.* Hopefully, he’ll end up with the girl. They’re really going to have to convince me that Hye Jin and Sung Joon are better as a couple rather than just friends. But as I was saying, so much of this felt like the writers got lazy. Sung Joon and Hye Jin just happen to go to the same exhibit where a little boy just happens to ask her if she likes Sung Joon. Poong Ho just happens to tell Hye Jin what Shin Hyuk did. And Hye Jin just happens to be able to find him walking away from the building. Yes, it moved the story forward, but it was all too convenient.

I do appreciate that Sung Joon tackled things head on, once he realized his feelings. And he didn’t confess to pressure her, just to be honest with her. The writers are really going to have to work hard to get me on board with the Hye Jin-Sung Joon train, since I’m firmly on the Hye Jin-Shin Hyuk train. I think that Hye Jin and Sung Joon are too similar and that Shin Hyuk is a better fit, because he gets her to not take herself so seriously. He’s there for her, whenever, and, like Sung Joon, he’s honest.

It irritated me a little when Sung Joon called Shin Hyuk a coward, particularly because Shin Hyuk had already declared himself more than once. I might be a bit touchy, too, because Shin Hyuk plasters on that smile – as charming as it is – to cover up when he’s hurting. I want him to get the girl!
