Oh My Ghostess Episode 2 Recap

Episode starts with a different camera angle as Sun Woo holds out his hand, silently demanding the key. The handshake, which he flings aside. He demands the key. Soon Ae (possessing Bong Sun) has no idea what he’s talking about. Sun Woo starts searching her pockets. Soon Ae flips him onto the floor – with horrified looks (and covered mouths) by everyone else. Sun Woo looks up at Soon Ae, shocked.

Sun Woo is so shocked that he has a hard time climbing to his feet. Min Soo and Dong Chul rush over to help him up. Soon Ae looks pissed as she glares at Sun Woo. Sun Woo stands up and brushes himself off – but doesn’t exactly look mad. Min Soo yells at Soon Ae, with a stutter, asking if she’s crazy. She may have quit, but this isn't right. Soon Ae's voice wonders if she’s made a mistake. Dong Chul leans over to sniff her, asking if Bong Sun’s drunk. Ji Woong, too, and he doesn’t smell any alcohol.

Min Soo yells at Soon Ae to apologize to Chef right now. Apologize now! Soon Ae looks at Sun Woo and wonders at the name Chef. He’s not a foreigner. Quietly, Sun Woo tells Min Soo to stop. Just as quietly, he asks Soon Ae to hand over the keys. She asks what key he’s going on and on about? She searches her pockets and pulls out the key they’re looking for. Sun Woo groans and, without a word, grabs it out of her hand and goes to open the back.

Eun Hee rolls forward and asks Soon Ae if she’s okay. Is she feeling sick? Min Soo and the other chefs – but not Joon – start yelling at her. Soon Ae sighs – and you can hear her roll her eyes – and decides that this is not working. She decides to leave Bong Sun. She lurches to leave… but doesn’t. It kind of looks like she’s about to be sick, so the other chefs step back. She tries again… and nothing. She remembers what Bing Go said about a girl matching her frequency and getting stuck. Soon Ae lets out a high pitched groan and tries really hard. Then she faints.

All the boys hover around her, yelling at her to wake up. Sun Woo hears the commotion and comes running.

[OH MY GHOSTESS EPISODE 2]

The boys have taken her to a table in the back. Min Soo is sitting with his chin in his hands. He says that he can't tell if Bong Sun’s putting on an act or if she really fainted. Joon wonders if they should call 119 or something? Ji Woong checks her breathing with his fingers and says that it’s normal. Her face seems to have regained color.

Inside Bong Sun, Soon Ae sighs. Dang, this sucks. She’s now conscious but should she open her eyes or not? Min Soo remembers Bong Sun saying she had insomnia. Could it be medication? The others think that that’s a plausible explanation. Soon Ae thinks that she’s in a pickle. She’s not getting out of this body anytime soon. She slowly opens her eyes, and his eye-level to the boys’ crotches. She thinks that the view is nice. Heh. She really is horny. She gleefully declares that this place is like a men's bath house. It might not be so bad, after all.

Soon Ae smacks her lips and the boys laugh because they think she’s dreaming. Min Soo leans in and softly encourages her to wake up. He’s going to yell at her eventually. She moans a protest. He says that he saw her eyes open a little. She can stop now. Soon Ae opens her eyes. She sits up, smiling.

Sun Woo is in with Eun Hee, who is putting some medicine on his arm. He tells her that he’s fine... besides being embarrassed. He’s squatting next to her and puts his hand over his face. She tells him that it’ll sting when he gets water on it. Eun Hee asks what he’s going to do with Bong Sun? He asks what Eun Hee means. Bong Sun wrote that letter herself and left. He’ll send her on her way once she wakes up. He sounds tired.

Eun Hee says that Bong Sun didn't leave because she wanted to. Wasn't she half pushed out the door? Sun Woo gives Eun Hee a ‘whatever.’ This could be what's best for her life. Eun Hee shakes her head and says that she doesn't believe that yet. If you push people out before they're ready, weak people like Bong Sun and her cannot survive.

Bong Sun gets shoved in the room. Sun Woo doesn’t want to look at her. Eun Hee suggests that they talk. Sun Woo wants to know about what. Eun Hee just smiles and leaves. Bong Sun stands with her back to Sun Woo until he starts talking. He asks if she was an athlete or something? Like Hapkido? Then he says to forget it and looks away. She doesn’t say anything. Not looking at her, he asks if she’s okay. Soon Ae replies that before, she thinks she may have made a mistake. Sun Woo can’t believe she just said that – she thinks she may have made a mistake'? Soon Ae says that she’s apologizing. She’s not in a good state right now. She was a little out of it, so she hopes that Sun Woo can let her off once.

Sun Woo sits there for a moment and then tells her to sit down next to him. She squats there and he turns to face him. And I’m really appreciating how he’s not losing his temper and is staying calm. Because he really sounds like he wants to explode but is controlling himself. He rubs the back of his head and says her name. It probably wasn't easy for her to decide to leave this place, right? Soon Ae barely nods. He asks if she’s saying she’s not ready to go by asking him to let her off this time. Is she saying she wants to stay? Soon Ae answers that she supposes that that’s what she’s saying.

Sun Woo asks why she left in the first place, then. Because of what he said? Soon Ae nods – she’s smart and wily. She says that it was that. Sun Woo looks away, annoyed. He proposes this: He’ll give her one month. She has to make the decision within that time, whether to devote her life to this kitchen or not. And from what I saw before, Bong Sun already was that. Soon Ae jumps to her feet, declaring that she’s absolutely in! She pulls a shocked Sun Woo to his feet and shakes his hand. Because that is definitely not Bong Sun-like. Soon Ae declares that now that they've made up, they should do their best. Okay?

Sun Woo pulls his hand out of Soon Ae’s and tells her that she’s not in her right mind at the moment. He leaves the locker room after looking back at her. Soon Ae mutters that that guy (Sun Woo) is so freaking rude. He's got a decent-looking face though. Then she wonders what’s with this girl? What is she supposed to do, anyways?

Soon Ae has changed into her chef’s uniform and, as she wanders around the kitchen, says that it’s very strange. She doesn't feel out of place in the kitchen. She enjoys exploring and really enjoys starting the gas burner with a small torch. Min Soo (and the others) enters and yells at her for being at his station. Soon Ae slides over some and asks if that’s where she’s supposed to stand. He sighs that she hasn’t come back to her senses yet. Her station is in front the dishwasher! Soon Ae slowly walks over to it.

Sun Woo comes in and asks Dong Chul where the work log is. When Dong Chul says that it’s in the storage room, Sun Woo replies that he told Dong Chul to put things where they belong. Dong Chul never listens, does he? He tells Min Soo to do inventory now, so he won’t go crazy during peak hours. He heads back for the work log. Min Soo starts to mutter about that darn bastard and his lectures. He tells Bong Sun to go count how much live seafood they have in the fridge. Soon Ae asks why she should do it. Didn't Chef just tell him to do it?

Everyone stops and looks at her, surprised. Min Soo repeats what she said: ‘Didn't Chef just tell him to do it?’ Has the girl totally lost her mind? He yells Bong Sun’s name, which gets a yell back from Soon Ae as she yells at him for scaring her. He yells back, asking what's wrong with her! Has she seriously gone nuts? Joon and Dong Chul hold him back and Joon asks what she’s doing. Soon Ae quickly says that she’s not fully back to herself yet. She’ll go splash some water on her face. She bows deeply and then runs out of the kitchen.

Leaving the kitchen, Soon Ae wonders what Bong Sun’s problem is. What is this girl's character? She needs to at least act like Bong Sun somewhat. Dang, She can't get used to this. She comes across Sun Woo helping Eun Hee with her shoes. He’s being really nice and attentive. Soon Ae thinks that she thought he was a jerk, but he's good to his sister. He must not be all bad.

He turns around and sees Soon Ae. She smiles and waves. He asks what she’s doing standing there? They’re busy. Get in there! Soon Ae holds her tongue as she thinks that he sure isn't a good guy either. She should be on her guard around him.

[TODAY'S SPECIAL - SEAFOOD NOODLE STIR FRY]

Lots of people entering the restaurant. Busy kitchen, with people cooking. Washing dishes, Soon Ae moans about how popular the place is. No matter how many dishes she washes, there is no end. Dang it! Why is she suffering like this anyways? Sun Woo yells at her. Doesn’t she see the stack of dirty dishes? She replies that she does. She’s cleaning out crap. She glances in Sun Woo’s direction to be distracted by Joon’s flat stomach. He’s fanning himself with his shirt because he’s hot. Literally and figuratively.

Joon glares at her, just standing there, and tells her to move. Soon Ae replies that she kind of doesn't want to move. Joon is forced to lean into her to get the towel he needs. He mutters if she’s gone crazy for real? She’s practically drooling as she watches – in slow motion – Joon dry off his neck.

Sun Woo yells at her to come wipe the floor. She takes a few swipes with the mop and declares that she’s done. Sun Woo turns around and slips on the floor. He yells her name loudly. She comes up, yelling at him, asking if he can't just order her around all at once? What? What now? Not yelling, Sun Woo asks if she doesn't know that she’s supposed to wipe the floor with a *dry* mop? Soon Ae makes a face because she knows she made a mistake.

Sun Woo asks if it’s some sort of revenge? Shaking a squash at her, he asks if she’s scheming to make him fall? She replies that there’s no way. If she was going to take revenge, she’d at least break a few ribs. This would be too childish. Again, Sun Woo is shocked. Sun Woo just looks at her a moment and then asks if she maybe damaged her brain or something? He’s currently in utter shock. She rolls her eyes and answers that she's already busy enough. She goes back to the sink.

Sun Woo’s phone rings. He gives Soon Ae a weak ‘ya!’ because she walked away and then tells the caller that he’s working right now, so... Then he asks ‘Where?’

Next thing we see is Sun Woo at the police station, telling the officer that it’s ridiculous. What assault? That lady was going on about her blog and being rude, so he pushed her a bit to make her leave. How can that be assault? He illustrates how he pushed on his shoulder, asking the detective if he would says that it was assault. Detective says that he gets the picture, but, Blogger has filed a lawsuit and says that she needs 3 weeks of hospitalization. What? You are kidding me. Wow, that woman. There are lots of witnesses, too. Sun Woo has my reaction. He declares it total nonsense.

Sung Jae arrives. He greets the detective. He’s there because Eun Hee called him. When he asks Sun Woo what it’s about, Sun Woo can’t even speak, he’s so flabbergasted.

Back at the restaurant, Eun Hee’s now talking to Sung Jae on the phone. She tells the chefs that they can go. Min Soo starts to say that he knew that it would happen, because Sun Woo’s so cocky. Acting as if he's all that. Whatever it is, excessiveness is worse than scarcity. Joon answers that Sun Woo is kind of all that. Heh, the boy tells it like it is. Min Soo glares at Joon. Does he really want to say that in this situation? You Cordon bastard. Joon hits the counter rather than punch Min Soo’s face.

The boys are worried because an assault charge is no joke. Ji Woong declares Seoul people to be scary as heck. Why would anyone sue over things like that? Soon Ae asks – a little too eager – if Sun Woo actually hit someone? Min Soo looks at her and sarcastically says, “Hello.” She’s the one who caused it. She wants to feign ignorance and play dumb? She immediately replies that it was because of her. Her health has been on and off lately. Not noticing what she’s doing, she starts playing with Joon’s hand.

Dong Chul calls her ‘Bong Bong Roo Bong Bong’ and asks what she’s touching right now? Joon is just looking at her. She realizes what she’s doing and jumps back with an aigoo. She explains that she suffers from lack of affection, so she tends to get attached to skin. She pats Joon’s hand and says ‘sorry’ in English. They just stare at her. Trying to diffuse it, she asks them about the timers. Why are there so many of them? Do they all go running together? What's it for? They all sigh, with Min Soo muttering, “weird... weird...”

The boys go out back, with Min Soo demanding that Ji Woong massage his shoulders. They discuss Bong Sun’s strange behavior. Dong Chul says that she is Bong Sun, but then she doesn't seem like Bong Sun. And it's not like she isn't Bong Sun. It is very strange. There's a saying... Almost Bong Sun... But, not really Bong Sun, but like Bong Sun. Joon declares that the weirdest thing is the way she talks. She doesn't sound like Bong Sun. Min Soo mutters that even someone who doesn't care about others can see the difference. Min Soo is an idiot.

They wonder if it’s because of being traumatized from yesterday or something? Dong Chul wonders if it’s Dissociative Identity Disorder. I shake my head. And they didn't know about it until now? Ji Woong wonders if it’s not intermittent explosive disorder? If you have that disorder, you get outbursts of rage and murder people for no reason. He saw it on TV. Dong Chul agrees. There were cases of killing noisy upstairs neighbors. The more stressed out the society is, the more prevalent psychopaths are. After a mistreatment from their boss... Kaboom! They explode. And stab, cut, and thrust. Min Soo is particularly unsettled by that last one – because he’s been the most obnoxious to her.

Dong Chul declares that Bong has suffered a lot. If she hasn't forgotten them all, he’s sure she'd want to kill all of them. They disagree, not sounding all that sure. Inside, Soon Ae has found a butchers knife and thinks it’s totally cool. It’s totally like a Samurai knife. \It even has initials engraved. Everyone has their own knife, huh? She starts cutting a zucchini and likes how it cuts. The guys enter and, waving the knife at them, Soon Ae asks whose it is. They shrink backward. They sputter and ask her to put the knife down. She asks why. Will this kill people? She thrusts at them a couple of times. They run screaming out the back.

Sun Woo leaves the police station, muttering that it’s insane. Seriously. He stops and turns around, wondering if he should counter sue? He decides it’s not worth his time. Jong Bae comes out with a drink for Sun Woo. He says that the power blogger is no ordinary lady. Apparently, she says she won't settle no matter what. He should just think of it like he got bitten by a dog with rabies and apologize. Sun Woo wants to know why he should apologize. Getting bitten by a dog is upsetting enough.

Jong Bae points out that Sun Woo’s a public figure. Sun Woo doesn’t care. Does that make him a criminal? Why does that have to be his weakness? He says that he’ll go to court. He’s always wanted to visit a courtroom, so it works out. He starts to walk away. Jong Bae follows him, saying that his emotions shouldn't be making this decision. Sun Woo replies that humans are emotional beings by nature. He won’t do it. Ever. As he walks away, a reporter recognizes him and heads inside the police station.

Back at the Sun, the boys are taking showers to clean up. Min Soo, again, says that this was something bound to happen. Chef has been pushing his luck thinking he's all that. Joon replies that it’s true though. Chef is all that. Heh. I love him. Min Soo goes over and kicks Joon. As he walks back to his shower, he screams – because Soon Ae has poked her head in the room. She says “Sorry.” But she doesn’t look sorry at all. They are hiding themselves and screaming at her to get out. And I am rolling. She wonders where she’s supposed to shower. They yell at her some more and she slowly leaves after taking another look.

In the locker room, Soon Ae is sitting on a crate, almost giddy. She knew she was right about them. Min Soo comes in and starts yelling at her. Hey, Bong, damn Bong, like she ever showered there before! She replies that today was especially hot so... she shakes her head and stares at his crotch. Rolling. He asks – not yelling now - what's with her gaze right now? She stands up and slaps him a couple of times on the arm, telling him to cheer up. It's okay. Not like people care about such things. Right? Fighting. And I seriously almost fell off the bed, laughing so hard. She looks down there again and sighs, shaking her head, and leaves. After a moment, he yells that it’s because she only got a glimpse!

Joon is walking home. Soon Ae hurries after him and tells him to wait for her. He says that this isn't the way to her home. She replies that it is today. No matter what. He stops and looks at her. Why is she like this? She acts like she has no idea what he means. He says that she’s been acting weird all day. Is it because she quit and came back? I love that he just scratched his ear like people do when they’re thinking about things. Totally natural. Love it. He asks if she decided to change herself completely? Because she no longer wants to be the victim?

She replies that that's part of it... But it's more of an agony over life in general? Then she says that she doesn't think this talk should happen while standing up like this. Wow. She is forward! Shall they go somewhere and get some cold beer or something? Joon makes a face like he’s about to go be tortured and says they should go.

Next thing we see are two very drunk people, with Soon Ae begging Joon to stay and him saying he doesn’t want to. He’s going home. They are outside a hotel. She pleads that it will be just one hour. One hour. She won't lay a finger on him, she promises. He protests that he wants to sleep at home. She pleads for just 30 minutes. But Joon flags down a taxi and escapes, waving goodbye as he goes. Soon Ae groans, frustrated. What the heck is his problem? She just got turned on for no reason. Is he that drunk or does he not see her as a woman?

Soon Ae catches a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror. My goodness. So tacky. That explains it. No wonder she can't seduce a guy. She mutters about possessing someone with such a... She kicks the ground with frustration. She moans, wondering where Bong Sun lives. Phone call. It’s the manager of the gosiwon, asking when she’s going to move out...

Which gets her back to Bong Sun’s room. Soon Ae can’t believe that someone actually lives there. Living like this isn't even better than living as a ghost. She notices something in the corner. It’s a ghost. She asks what it’s looking at. It’s the creepy ghost from before. Ghost takes one look at Soon Ae and flees. Soon Ae sighs and says that Bong Sun attracts all kinds of ghosts.

Back at his apartment, Sun Woo is still angry. He chugs some water and groans that he is so pissed off. Seriously. He declares that he never ever encountered such a nasty, trashy lady in his entire life. And I don’t disagree. Entirely trashy. He looks up her blog, where she totally slams him: 'No common sense when it comes to service or food? Abusing his fame and commonly resorting to violence...' He should sue her for extortion and defamation of character. He has witnesses who saw the whole thing. Sun Woo mutters that it’s insane. She's the one who truly lacks common sense. It makes him so angry.

He scrolls down and uses the ID: I LIKE STRAWBERRIES to post a comment. Don’t do it! Don’t do it! He writes that he’s someone who frequents Sun Restaurant. This is a strategic attempt at slander. The service there is fairly good. Making false statements to the general public because of personal reasons is not the right thing... to do... is not right... is not right at all! At least he isn’t belligerent. He puts in another ID and describes himself as the master of noodle dishes.

So Hyung arrives at work, where a co-worker tells her that she would've been in big trouble if she had cast Kang Sun Woo. She asks why and he says that Sun Woo is number one on the search engines right now, something about assault. So Hyung is worried.

At the restaurant, Sun Woo is talking to a reporter, telling him that the article is not true. It's not true, so why would he address it? It's not even worth responding to. Or you could call a press conference and drop your pants to make a point… Thinking of the Na Hoon Ah, the father of Trot Singing, who did that to prove that he wasn’t castrated by someone in the Yakuza. He says that he’s not going to do an interview and that he’s hanging up now. Eun Hee tells him that Oma’s really upset. With the article, it's just a matter of time before things get worse. She tells him to settle. He won’t. If he was going to do it, he would've done it earlier. He tells her not to answer Oma’s calls. She’s worried.

The boys are worried. Things are really getting worse. This is the age of the internet. Min Soo moans that if Sun Woo doesn’t say anything, he’ll just die. Joon, annoyed at them all, shakes out his chef’s jacket loudly and tells Min Soo to visit the hospital. He seems to be in critical condition. Min Soo takes off his shoe to hit Joon with it. Ji Woong steps in between them and tells Joon to be quiet.

Soon Ae arrives and loudly greets them all. All smiles. They mutter that she must be crazy. She asks why they’re so serious. Is there something going on today? Ji Woong asks why she’s so bright all of a sudden. Soon Ae replies, “Why not?” She asks if they’re not leaving. She has to get changed. Should she just change there? The boys are shocked at how not a meek wimp she’s being.

The customers are muttering about the gossip and it’s really slow. Min Soo starts talking about what he would do as a head chef and gets a kick in the pants from Sun Woo. He yells at them to get cleaning. They scurry out. He makes Bong Sun clean out the oil in the hood. He mutters to himself about having to say it for it to get done and walks away. Soon Ae mutters about all the cleaning.

A customer gets her attention and says that the pasta is too watery. Can she boil it down? Soon Ae replies that this is a pasta that's supposed to have sauce like that. He tells his wife that it's supposed to be like that. Like she’s four, Wife shakes her head, throws her fork into the bowl and says that it’s yucky. Husband thinks they should boil it down. Plus they were skimpy on the mussels. Nicely, Soon Ae replies that it’s not a few. She starts to count them. Man asks why she doesn’t just give them what they ask for, huh? Is being rude to customers the concept in this restaurant? Do they all take after the chef? Everyone here is just a mess. Soon Ae bites her tongue and doesn’t say anything except, “Yes, sir.”

Heading back to the kitchen, she mutters about ‘that nasty man.’ Acting like he's all that just because
he's in front of his girlfriend. As she puts it back onto the stove, she says that she’s only doing this because the owner here is in a difficult situation. If it were really up to her... Sun Woo comes in and asks what she’s doing. She answers that the customer wanted her to heat it up so that the sauce was less watery. He blinks and repeats his question, ending in a yell. She asks why he’s angry. She told him didn’t she? Her voice is as loud as his was, and it’s gotten Man and Wife’s attention. Soon Ae says that the customer asked her heat it, she put in hot pepper paste and she’s going to boil it down.

Without a word, Sun Woo picks up the pan and throws it in the trash. She asks why he’s throwing it away and wasting it. Controlled, he says that if you add hot pepper paste, it becomes thick and tasteless. He sighs and shakes his head. Then he asks who she is to touch his cooking. Is she a chef? Is she the owner? She apologizes and says that she acknowledges her mistake. Then she adds that those people were going on about the chef assaulting someone. She was thinking of him when she did it.

Immediately he asks who she is to think of him. She spits back: What the heck! Can't she think of him? And why is he so twisted about things? If someone has good intentions, can't he just accept it as that? He's been rubbing his forehead with frustration but stops. Did she just talk informally? She yells again, can't he just accept it, sir?

Sun Woo can’t believe how she’s acting. Seeing how she’s been acting yesterday and today, she misunderstood his warning. He tells her that she’s banned from the kitchen for the time being. She can work in the hall only. He tells her not to make any judgments on her own or think on her own. He gives her a last glare and walks away, muttering that she must be really crazy. Soon Ae punches the air after him and kicks it. She mutters that she wishes that she could really hit him, just once. Why is he so darn rude!

Obnoxious couple leaves, muttering that it’s so annoying. Eun Hee tells him that he should've tried to accommodate them. Things aren't even good now. He replies that there's nothing to worry about. If you get hurt while running, those are just the effects. Now that there are less customers, it's kind of nice to have free time.

Sun Woo gets a call from the Police Commissioner, who tells him that they’ve settled. This is news to Sun Woo. Commissioner is surprised. Didn't he know? His mother went to the complainant. She apologized and delivered the money for the agreement. Sun Woo immediately goes over to Oma’s office to confront her. Who told her to settle the lawsuit? Why would she? She makes a face and turns to face him, like she’s surprised, asking if that’s why he’s there.

Sun Woo repeats his question. Why would she get involved in his affairs? Oma asks what else she could do since he refused to do it. There were so many comments on the article and Blogger is meeting with reporters. It was only a matter of time before he hit bottom. How could a mom do nothing? Sarcastically he says that she’s brought him to tears. Because she's his 'mom'? She never even made him a proper meal. She never come home until early morning and left him cold and crying. And now she’s talking about being a mom? He’s 33 years old. He doesn’t need her anymore. She should've been there when he did. Wow, he needs to let it go and get over it.

She answers that that's right. She was too young. She was busy trying to study, eat, and live. She feels bad about being a bad mother and she’s trying to make up for it. Does he have to act this way? He snaps that he must've been raised wrong! She snaps back that that’s right, awful boy. He should live his life and she’ll live hers. He sighs and says, please, let's do that. He leaves.

Oma is fuming. She chases after him and starts to beat him, telling that he’s an awful punk, nasty man! Go, Oma! He protests that it hurts, Oma! She won’t let go of his arm and keeps slapping him, saying that no matter how much wrong she did, she’s his mother. She lets go and says that this is why everyone says he’s rude with no manners. Some students walk by and noticing they’re muttering, she clarifies that he’s not her boyfriend! He's her son.

Oma asks if he’s carry that talisman like she said. His fortune this year is rough. Didn't she tell him to carry it around? Because he didn't listen to his Oma, bad things like this happened. Does he know that, show off? He asks why she’s bringing that up again? She tells him to be quiet! The agreement cost 5 million won. Send the money. Dang! That's roughly $4,300 USD. When Sun Woo repeats it, Oma adds that it was a discount because Blogger’s a fan of hers. He doesn't know anything. He mutters ‘whatever’ and says that he’ll send it. Without a 'thank you' or 'goodbye,' he leaves.

Oma texts him her account. He mutters and then realizes that he’s short. He has to call someone to get the money. So Hyung calls him and he picks her up. As they’re driving in the car, he says that he completely forgot to call her. Yesterday and today were just... full of various happenings. She replies that she knows. She was going to go alone, but she thought he should clear his mind. He acts like everything’s great. She wonders if he’s okay or pretending to be okay? He replies that he’s okay, of course. He says that this all worked out better anyways. He was just too busy, too successful. She says that she’ll believe him then. And it's obvious that he's not fooling anyone.

They’re at a funeral center. She tells him to come on her show. Sun Woo doesn’t want to. A TV program... at this time? That's nonsense. She replies that it makes more sense at this time. Doesn’t he know what the best strategy is? It's an all-out attack. Come out and be confident. He can explain if he wants, too. If he hides now, people will think he did something wrong. And I’m now wondering if it wasn’t a falling out, but the guy died, since they’re both there. Since it's a survivor concept, it's a focus on his skills too. It's a variety concept too, so it's good for his image. He’s a great speaker too. Sun Woo says that that's true. He is very entertaining.

He asks who she cast. When he hears Chef Yoon Se Shin -- not a real person, at least according to Google -- he poo-poos the idea. Yoon's not the right level. He's a lower class. She tells him that she can cancel Yoon easily. Sun Woo’s still waffling. She tells him that he has a day to decide.

They’ve arrived. She asks if Chang Kyu has been well. She says that she brought Sun Woo because Chang Kyu said he missed him. Sun Woo looks at her and then tells Chang Kyu that he’s too nice. Sun Woo says that he would have hated Chang Kyu to death. She makes a face at him, annoyed. She tells Sun Woo about a song lyric, 'Be good while he's still with you'... She says to her, it's not funny at all. Picture of Chang Kyu and So Hyung happy together. We see his urn: 20 Nov 1983 to 04 Jul 2004. Wow, almost 11 years. So Hyung says that she really should've been good to him while he was still there. That's sad.

Back at the restaurant, the boys are looking at the search engines, grumbling that it's not dropping out of the top 5 search words. There are over 500 comments. Dong Chul says that Sun Woo’s got a nickname too. Gangche! Short for 'gangster chef'. Joon sighs and says that those losers have nothing to do. These witch hunts are a serious problem. Min Soo says that the witch hunt is not the problem. It’s the society that encourages it. These people have nothing and nowhere to take their stress out on. No matter how hard they work, only the first and the best is recognized. And they end up wiping the butts of those who are rich and famous. They should at least leave comments for stress relief.

Everyone stops and looks at him. Because he sounds like he’s talking from experience. He adds that he’s not saying that he was one of them. Soon Ae says that whoever came up with the nickname did an awesome job. Gangche. He is skilled at assaulting people with his words.

Sun Woo returns and he and Soon Ae so the aisle dance. She sarcastically asks if she can use the bathroom. He said that she always needs to get his permission. He tells her to do whatever she wants and don't ever talk to him, okay?

As Sun Woo goes up to his apartment – which apparently is above the restaurant – Min Soo tells him that a friend works at Chef Marco's place, and apparently they are ecstatic, saying that Sun Woo won't be able to come on TV since he must be too ashamed. Sun Woo mutters that Marco should be more concerned about himself. Min Soo agrees that he’s all round... lacking in looks. Sun Woo says that it’s not only in looks. His cooking skills are lacking too.

In his apartment, Sun Woo mutters that that pig bastard is annoying the crap out of him. Give him a break, seriously. He's ecstatic, huh? He calls So Hyung and acts like he called her accidentally. We know he’s saying he’ll go on the show. Now in his chef’s uniform, he comes downstairs. As he enters the kitchen, Soon Ae makes a big deal of bowing and leaving the kitchen. Sun Woo rolls his eyes. He tells the group that he has a recording scheduled for a TV show next week. Min Soo has to hide his smile. Sun Woo says that he wasn't interested in doing it, but his friend asked him for a favor. He says that he’ll need a second chef and asks Min Soo. Min Soo is shocked and stutters. Sun Woo moves on to Dong Chul, but Min Soo shoves Dong Chul backward and says that he’ll be Sun Woo’s second chef. And then Dong Chul and Ji Woong sing ‘congratulations’ to Min Soo. So dorky!

Bing Go arrives home, grumbling. The lights flicker with a warning from upstairs. Then she gets a call from Oma, who calls her ‘Bodhisattva’ (an enlightened being in Buddhism). She wants Bing Go’s help for her son. Can she come there? Oma says that she’ll pay Bing Go’s travel expenses. Switch to Oma who is at a pojangmacha. She starts to chat with the owner. She worries a lot about her son. She’s a big failure as a mother. She got pregnant by accident when she was 19. She lived with the guy and also had a daughter later. She asked her aunt to raise her daughter so she could go to college. She didn't even make them a nice meal. She never even made it to her son's graduations. How lonely he must've felt. All because he was given to a bad mother. Then she asks owner if he’s single? In his 30s? 40s? Wow, Oma. Not desperate are you? And using men to make yourself feel better...

Back at the Sun, Eun Hee is worrying about Sun Woo’s upcoming television appearance. He tells her not to worry. Doesn't she know he has a knack for being on TV? He’s going to obliterate all his anti-fans. She laughs. Oma stumbles in, drunk as a skunk. She calls Sun Woo ‘gangche’ and her smart son and tells him to bring a bottle of wine.

Sun Woo helps Oma stand and walk out of the restaurant, even as she’s asking for more wine. She sees Eun Hee and laughs as she says that Sun Woo sent her money today. His settlement fund. Mom looks at him and slap his face as she declares that Sun Woo never gives her money. He manages to pour her into the car – even though Mom throws her shoes out because they don’t belong in the room.

Sun Woo is able to get her home. He leaves her apartment building, muttering about how Oma shouldn’t drink, if she can't hold her liquor. Always showing off, pretending to be tough. Her entire life is a show. He wonders if cockiness is hereditary? Heh. As he starts walking, a little Corgi starts following him. He tells it not to. Its owner isn't around. Meaning that he’s not going to be the owner. He walks a few more steps and the dog continues to follow him. He hisses at it and tells it to stop. He really doesn't like dogs. Oh, but I hope that you decide to adopt a dog. Dogs are awesome! He’s not the type to feed stray dogs either.

The dog won’t stop following him. Sun Woo ends up feeding it. Old softy! As the dog chows down, Sun Woo mutters that he told the dog not to follow him. Is it a stalker? Heh. Calling a dog a stalker. Now he even has a dog as a fan? He squats down and tells the dog that he’s feeding it and letting it sleep there today, but there's no way they’re repeating this tomorrow. Okay? He can't keep it. I wish I knew if it was a boy or girl! Understand? Got it? The dog keeps eating. Sun Woo gives him some more and then shoves the bowl towards the dog with his foot.

Soon Ae is walking down the street, annoyed. She should be seducing a guy when she's possessing a body for the long term like this. How can a body look the same from the front and back? Wow, dig to say that Bong Sun is flat-chested. Heh. This must be why split second decisions matter so much, whether you're a person or a ghost. She comes across a police scene. When she goes over to see what’s going on, she see Sung Jae. He looks familiar. Did she try to seduce him before? No, that's not it.

Policemen bring out a covered body on a stretcher. Sung Jae blocks a little boy’s eyes so he won’t see the body. Soon Ae appreciates that as much as I do. She sighs and thinks that mister cop is totally hot. Her heart skipped a beat. Sung Jae affectionately scruffs the boy’s hair and Soon Ae sighs that mister cop is her type. Uh-oh, that look is trouble.

Sung Jae and Hwang are out on patrol. They stop by Soon Ae’s father’s shop. Inside, a customer is obnoxiously complaining. Kyung Mo is there and not controlling his temper very well. He asks why they guy didn’t say something *before* he ate everything. Myung Ho tells the jerk to go, which Kyung Mo can’t believe. Jerk is going to, but then Sung Jae arrives. It’s obvious that Sung Jae knows the Shins. Immediately Jerk changes his tune and says that, of course he’s going to pay. He’s just saying it's a bit pricey considering how it tastes. Jerk pays and goes.

Immediately, Kyung Mo yells at his dad for giving away a meal for free. Myung Ho replies that the customer wasn’t exactly wrong. Really, Dad? Myung Ho invites Sung Jae to sit. He and Hwang do, with Hwang whispering that they should go someplace else. Myung Ho brings them glasses and water and Sung Jae orders. The cup Sung Jae gets isn’t exactly clean, but he uses it anyway. Because he knows Myung Ho needs the business. What a nice guy.

Sun Woo is at the television station with So Hyung and his rival, Marco. Wow. That guy *is* round. So Hyung tells them that the mission will get revealed during the recording. Marco answers that he gets it. It's all about being real these days. Which, according to Sun Woo, Marco isn’t really. All flash and no substance. He asks if he might get a couple more guards in the back. Sometimes the losing chef can get violent. That’s a definite jab at Sun Woo’s recent assault charge. Sun Woo is unphased. He tells Choi not to worry. He doesn’t fight someone bigger than him. Heh. Marco clears his throat because he caught the dig.

Sun Woo continues that Marco’s size is perfect for this show. Since his body is just so real. Heh. Over at their station, Min Soo looks nervous. He’s looking through their stuff, like he can’t find something. He tells Sun Woo that he needs to pee. Sun Woo is focused on preparing so he doesn’t notice and tells Min Soo to go and hurry. Once out of sight, Min Soo slaps his head with both hands, calls himself an idiot and tells himself that he must've left his mind at the karaoke bar yesterday. He calls Bong Sun and tells her to bring Sun Woo’s personal knife to the studio. Ah, yes, that is a big deal.

Oma is meeting with Bing Go to get a reading for Sun Woo. Bing Go asks Oma how old she is. How does she have a son older than 30 already? Oma answers that it just turned out that way. Confucianism at work. Bing Go looks at Sun Woo’s fortune and declares that it’s unusually intense. Oma agrees. People say that he has a fortune of two arms and the gates of a ghost. Bing Go mentions all the talismans Oma’s gotten. Oma is amazed that Bing Go knew. She says that it’s so frustrating, since her nasty son rips up every single one of them.

Bing Go says that the Four Pillars of Destiny won't be enough.

Four Pillars? What’s that – besides something used for astrology. According to the ‘Traditional Feng Shui’ website:
Four Pillars of Destiny is one of the branches of Chinese Astrology. Using this technique, one is able to draw up a blue print or map of a person's life and advise them on what action to take during various phases of their life. In order to draw up a four pillar chart, the year, month, day and time of birth must be known as well as the place of birth. A complete birth chart will have four "pillars" (consisting of four stems and four branches).

What can Four Pillars of Destiny tell?
The kind of relationship the person has with their parents, superiors, subordinates, spouse, friends and siblings. What kind of career they will most likely be successful in. Whether it is a favourable time or not to start that new business or project. Wealth prospects and character. When to grasp opportunities and when to reflect and learn a new skill.
From the websites I looked at, it’s a *really* complicated system for predicting someone’s fate; you need to know not only the year, month, and day but also the *time* someone was born.
Why would Oma and Bing Go be looking at it? The website explains: "[The] four pillars [are] a map or blueprint. The map or blueprint itself cannot be changed. It is what we were born with. However, if we understand our chart and take appropriate action, then we will be doing the right thing at the right time. When we do this we are better able to overcome obstacles during challenging times and better able to grasp opportunity during favourable times."

If you’d like to calculate your four pillars, go here. I calculated out mine and I still have no idea how it's supposed to predict my future.

So, because Sun Woo’s fate is so intense, using the Four Pillars is not enough.

Bing Go says that she’ll have to read Sun Woo’s physiognomy. His facial features. How is Oma going to swing that? Bing Go says that a person's destiny is determined by how that person is living right now and that's all written on the face. That’s interesting, that she’d say that, given that she knows the Four Pillars. And I wonder if that plays into our story later: that it's not fate but how you live in the now that matters.

Oma looks skeptical. To prove she knows what she's doing, Bing Go looks at Oma and reads her features: Oma got to do everything she wanted even though she lived a hard life, huh? Her face has an air of resplendence. Now that’s a big word for a subtitle: to be very bright and attractive. Can’t say that she’s wrong. Shin Eun Kyung is both of those things. Oma can't live without a man…. Oh, she’s a master cougar. Right? Oma is amazed at the accuracy. Bing Go can tell all that from physiognomy?

Oma wants to know if Bing Go can read Sun Woo’s physiognomy at his restaurant? Bing Go says that she will, but her fee gets quadrupled. Oma’s smiling less, but she agrees. Bing Go is shrewd. They arrive at the Sun. Bing Go declares that the land location is good. Soon Ae sees them and almost runs, but then she remembers that she’s Na Bong Sun right now. She clears her throat loudly as she walks by them, so the bells won’t give her away. Oma laughs and says that it’s odd that Bong Sun left without saying hello. They go inside. Even though Sun Woo isn’t there right now because he’s at the TV station.

Soon Ae arrives at the station with the knives. She waves hello to Sun Woo as he sits in makeup and he wants to know why she’s there. She explains that Min Soo called and asked her to bring his knife. And Min Soo is in trouble. Soon Ae looks at him and says that the make-up makes him look totally strange and awkward. Momentary concern on Sun Woo’s part. Soon Ae pokes him and says that she’s just kidding. He looks nice… really cool. Sun Woo looks around for Min Soo and wonders where he is. Why isn't he coming anyways? After creating this mess?

Min Soo is being detained by a security guard. He forgot his pass, so the guard doesn’t believe him that he belongs inside. Even though he’s dressed in a chef’s outfit. Min Soo can’t remember the name of the program or So Hyung’s name either. He tries to bribe the guy, but it doesn’t work. He tries to sneak by, but is unsuccessful.

So Hyung asks Sun Woo if there’s a problem. They’re shooting soon. Sun Woo replies that Min Soo's not there, that dummy. So Hyung tells him that there’s no more time. She suggests Bong Sun, since she’s also an employee.

As they approach the set, he tells her not to do a thing. He’ll take care of it all. She mutters that he always says not to do anything.

Shows starts. Before they head into the mission, Host1 asks the chefs to make a statement. Sun Woo says that he doesn't have much to say. Waving his fingers, he says that these are not hands that hurt people, but hands used for cooking. Host2 says that Sun Woo seems to be using this program to indirectly give an explanation of his situation. Smiling, Sun Woo says that he won't be indirect. He'll be direct. Not everything you see is always true. His conscience and that person's conscience, they both know what really happened. Assuming they both have conscience. Heh. Host1 says that he is very curious about what that truth is; it would be nice to officially hear about it another time.

And Marco doesn’t get to make a statement, because Host1 announces that they shouldn’t waste anymore time. Love that! Here is the random mission sent in from a viewer:

After receiving an army enrollment notice, prepare the morning rice meal a mother would feed a son who drank all-night. Sun Woo’s face has lost a bit of its confidence. They get to work. Soon Ae’s main job seems to be washing dishes.

With about 10 minutes to go, Marco is close to plating his food. That’s not too smart. It’s not going to taste right, resting that long. Soon Ae looks at the stove and tells Sun Woo that the rice is burning. Sun Woo looks sunk, but Soon Ae steps in and starts at work. Sun Woo asks what she’s doing and she replies that it’s burnt rice pollack soup.

At Myung Ho’s restaurant, a customer has requested it, but Myung Ho says that they don't sell that anymore. Customer came specifically for that. He’s been out of work for a while and has started again. He remembered that burnt rice pollack soup. Myung Ho nods sadly and when Customer asks about Soon Ae, it’s obvious that that’s why they stopped serving it. Myung Ho says that Soon Ae left... for a bit. He gets Customer the stir fried pork.

Hosts marvel at the two meals. They’re quite different. Marco’s plate has about 8 side dishes – including kimchi. That's a lot of side dishes for someone hungover. Over compensating much, Marco? Sun Woo’s plate has a small salad and the burnt rice Pollack soup. The panel samples Marco’s food first. And I love that woman’s hanbok! Beautiful. They try Sun Woo’s second. Host comments that Sun Woo’s meal is quite different from Marco's. It’s is a very cozy and warm meal. Maendorong ttottot, perhaps? Hosts suggest the chefs take part in the tasting. Sun Woo samples the soup and looks thoughtful.

Later, So Hyung congratulates Sun Woo on is win. It turned out pretty fun, too. He looks deep in thought, unnerved a little. He tells So Hyung that it’s a relief. So Hyung tells him that his traditional food idea was better than she thought. She was worried after the mission was selected, since she knows how he dislikes rice. He replies that just because he doesn't like it, doesn't mean he can't cook it. And his face is not selling it.

Min Soo arrives. He immediately starts rubbing his hands together, begging forgiveness. Sun Woo yells, asking what the heck Min Soo was doing?! So Hyung tells him to forget it. The shoot ended well. And then she breaks the news: Bong Sun will have to continue doing the show. Min Soo wants to know why, since that’s supposed to be *his* job. So Hyung says that there needs to be continuity. They can't change the helper. How convenient. Min Soo laughs nervously and says that Bong Sun’s not qualified to do it. Plus, moving the machinery is really hard. She's too weak to do all that. And Soon Ae walks by at that moment, carrying everything without straining at all. Maybe you need to work out some, Min Soo, if you think that that’s very heavy. After all, she is small.

Back at the restaurant, Min Soo is begging his ‘hyung’ to let him do the show. It makes no sense. How can Bong be on TV? He begs Sun Woo to talk to the PD for him. Sun Woo tells him that the bus has left the station. He did this to himself. Soon Ae walks up and says that she’ll go back and organize things. Min Soo gives her a glare and walks through her as he walks away. A frown from Sun Woo.

As Soon Ae starts to leave, Sun Woo gets her attention. He tells her that she can come in the kitchen starting tomorrow. When she doesn’t seem to understand what he said, he asks if she’s deaf? He said... she can come back in the kitchen tomorrow. She says she’ll do that, with a smile. She grabs Sun Woo’s arm and says that he must be thankful to her for the shoot today, right? She’s so cute right now. Sun Woo scoffs at that and yanks his arm out of her hands, asking why she’s grabbing it. He tells her they should go. She tells herself that Sun Woo is thankful. Him and his pride.

Walking home, Soon Ae is happy because today felt like a good day. It’s really amazing. How did that idea pop into her head, at that moment? Burnt rice pollack soup. Was it a food she always liked? She comes across a young man vomiting from being drunk. And it looks like Kyung Mo. He falls over and passes out. She goes over to wake him up, noting that his face is totally bruised too. He’s barely conscious but unresponsive.

She grabs his phone out of his pocket and calls his dad. Good thing that he's labeled 'Abeoji' in the phone. Unfortunately, Myung Ho doesn’t hear the phone so he doesn’t answer. She tells ‘uncle’ (Kyung Mo) that she’s done more than her share. She stuffs his phone back in his pocket and starts to walk away. Kyung Mo drunk-yells and she can’t leave him. She mutters to herself, asking why she’s such a good person. She helps Kyung Mo stagger to the local police station, complaining the whole way. Sung Jae is working and recognizes him. Hwang and Sung Jae deposit Kyung Mo on a bench. Sung Jae calls Myung Ho, who says that he’ll come and collect Kyung Mo.

Sung Jae asks Soon Ae to stay, since Kyung Mo’s father would like to thank her for helping his son. I see Soon Ae getting a little of her memory back. She tries to say that there's no need, but she agrees to stay. As Soon Ae waits, she drools a bit over Sung Jae, who is trying to rouse Kyung Mo. She knew this person? He's not bad at all. She gets a good vibe. If he wasn't a cop, she'd just ...

Myung Ho arrives. Soon Ae doesn’t see his face at first. Once she sees it, she gets a flashback of them at the store, Kyung Mo passed out at one of the tables. She whacks him several times – which gets him up – and gives his ear a tug for good measure. As he walks away, she whacks him on the head with her spoon, which gets some protest. I laugh. Smiling, Myung Ho asks why she’s hitting Kyung Mo's head? Soon Ae says that Kyung Mo keeps talking back to her. She can't just leave him like that. The rudeness!

Another flashback of the store, full of customers. Myung Ho calls for three more pollack rice soups! She calls that she’s so busy that she’ll die. One of the customers yells that she can’t. She has to feed them first, since they’re going to die of hunger! Everyone laughs, including Myung Ho. He looks so happy, not beaten down like nowadays.

Soon Ae realizes that it's her abeoji. She starts to cry as she remembers. She’s making me cry, man. Didn't expect that. Episode ends.

  4. to be horny -- in British English, they might call it being randy; in American English, it means that someone is easily aroused (sexually)
to be out of it -- this can be used in the context of a contest, meaning that the competitor no longer has any chance of winning; in  this context, it means that the person being described (as out of it) is not fully engaged with reality
  5. to let (someone) off -- means to overlook an offense; policemen, when they decide not to give you a ticket, are described as letting you off with a warning
  6. to make up -- this can mean to fabricate, as in making up a lie, but in this context, it means to be reconciled after a disagreement
  7. to be in (someone's) right mind - this means that someone is thinking clearly and rationally
  8. freaking -- as an adjective, it can mean to be hysterical over something, as in 'I am freaking out' or 'she was freaking with fear'; in this context, it is being used as a substitute for profanity and means that it's an extreme case of whatever it's describing, with a negative context attached

  17. tacky - this can have several meanings: (1) shabby in appearance; (2) tasteless, cheaply vulgar, crass; (3) guady, flashy, showy; and what I think Soon Ae means in this context: (4) not tasteful or fashionable aka dowdy. As you might be able to tell, context for this word determines its meaning
  18. to chug (a drink) - to guzzle, drink something in large gulps/swallows
  19. trashy - similar to tacky, but worse, because there's the implication of loose morality
  20. to slam (someone) - to talk disparagingly about someone one

Any one of these definitions could fit  in this context.
  23. witch hunt - comes from times in history when groups, fearful of witchcraft and/or black magic, tried to find practitioners, often employing unfair tactics and cruel punishments. They would intensively hunt for culprits and would go after and/or convict people based on miniscule, dubious, or irrelevant evidence. 24. aisle dance - when you encounter someone in an aisle and both step in the same direction more than once in an effort to pass each other
  25. drunk as a skunk - highly intoxicated, to where a person can hardly stand, let alone walk. While skunks don't actually drink, they do emit a foul-smelling musk and when people are this drunk, they stink pretty badly. Skunks will actually become inebriated on fermented fruits and berries, so they will become drunk. Also, skunk, since the 19th century, has been associated with a contemptible or untrustworthy person, and often a person of this type of character will carouse with the best of them.
  26. to chow down - to eat enthusiastically and quickly
  27. to drool over (someone) - when you look at someone lustfully, most of the time in a discrete manner rather than leering

Thoughts

Aw, Soon Ae’s poor family. While it looks like Kyung Mo was a slacker even before Soon Ae died, Myung Ho looks really broken since he lost his daughter. Sad. That last scene was great. I could tell it was coming and I didn’t expect to be affected by it, but I was. (Well done, Park Bo Young!).

From the flashbacks, Soon Ae seems like she was pretty cool. So sad. But death is sad, you know, and one of our characters is dead.

I’m really enjoying getting to know Soon Ae – which means that I’m going to cry when she moves on. I sigh. But I really like how spunky she is. It’s really funny watching how she throws Sun Woo off-kilter, too, when Bong Sun isn’t her meek, usual self.

We really got to know Sun Woo more this episode, too, and the more I see of him, the more I like of him, because he’s a good guy. Complicated relationship with his mother, since she was an absentee mom and he still hasn’t forgiven her. Used to be a wimp like Bong Sun is, so he hates that about her. Likes the Bong Sun that she keeps hidden and reveals in her blog. I can see how he’s starting to like this vibrant Bong Sun, which is good, but bad, at the same time. I mean, I want him to like the real Bong Sun. But that Bong Sun isn’t vibrant. She’s beaten down by life. She’s a talented cook with a warm heart, but she’s so beaten down, it’s sad. So, he’s going to develop feelings for Bong Sun, when Bong Sun isn’t Bong Sun. And I don’t know that I like that, because I like the Bong Sun that we’ve met so far.

Don’t feel bad for Min Soo at all, losing his chance to be on TV. If Min Soo had been there, Sun Woo would have lost. Plus, this makes him have to spend time with Bong Sun, which is a good thing, even though Bong Sun isn’t Bong Sun right now.

I am rolling though, at Soon Ae’s horniness and how she’s really making the boys uncomfortable. That whole section was hysterical. I wonder about Joon, though. He seems like he has a soft spot for Bong Sun, but it also seems like he knows that Bong Sun has this crush on Sun Woo and doesn’t want to get in the middle of that. I loved that he refused to put himself in a position where something might happen between the two of them. This is the first thing that I’ve seen Kwak Shi Yang in and I like him.

I can’t believe that that stupid blogger was that shady. I really hope that that gets exposed at some point, because the woman was a pompous jerk. The fact that Oma paid her 5,000,000 RKW to get her to go away. That makes my skin crawl. But I like the nickname: Gangcha!

I wonder what the deal is with Chang Kyu. It’s obvious that Sun Woo, So Hyung and he were best friends and that So Hyung and he ended up together. What Sun Woo said at the mausoleum was telling: Chang Kyu should have gone on hating him, instead of asking to see him. Seeing how he was trying to get out of it earlier (the first time we meet So Hyung), it seems like Sun Woo feels guilty about their friend’s death. And So Hyung was really in love with him, since it’s been almost 11 years and she hasn’t moved on. This show seems determined to remind me that death sucks.

I’m liking that Sung Jae is a good guy. It’s not just that people say he is; it’s in the little things that he does. And that really is comforting, that they’re going to portray a good guy as just that, and not someone just pretending to be a good guy.

Of course, fate has to bring Bing Go and Soon Ae back together. I wonder how long Soon Ae is going to be stuck in Bong Sun. I wonder if Soon Ae’s going to fall for Sun Woo and then get expelled from Bong Sun and then fight to try to repossess the girl. Or maybe, after Sun Woo falls for Soon Ae, she’ll get ejected and decide to help Bong Sun be the firebrand that she would be, if she wasn’t so dead inside. I kind of like that idea – Soon Ae’s last good deed, besides helping out her abeoji and dongsaeng, is helping Bong Sun to move on from loss, too.

I also wonder if we’re going to get more of Bong Sun’s back story, with Sun Woo realizing that there’s a *reason* why Bong Sun is so meek and defeated, and this reason gives him the compassion that he was lacking before.

One thing that I hope *doesn’t* happen is discovering who Eun Hee’s hit-and-run driver is. That would just be a little bit too much of a tidy bow for me. I know that I like happy endings, but that just seems a little too matchy-matchy for me. Besides, it won’t change what is – Eun Hee being in a chair – or make adapting to it any easier. And Sung Jae doesn’t seem to mind that his wife can’t walk anymore. He’d, of course, like her to be able to, but he doesn’t love her any less. He’s probably actually more grateful that she’s still with him, because she could have easily died, and as a policeman, he knows this all too well.

I wonder *how* Sung Jae knows Myung Ho and the family. Is it from Kyung Mo? Soon Ae’s mother’s death? Or is he from the neighborhood? I suspect that it’s from Kyung Mo. Sung Jae’s intentionally frequenting Myung Ho’s shop to give him some business, which shows what a nice guy he is. I really hope that Soon Ae’s crush gets shot down pretty quickly, so that she’ll turn her eyes to our fair chef.

Really glad that this show hasn’t taken that long to get going, although I’m groaning a little to know that I’m going to have to wait for the cliffhangers to be resolved. Look forward to the ride, though. Fighting!
