Suspicious Housekeeper Episode 7 Recap

The episode highlights what’s happened so far – six episodes over the course of a minute. Han Gyul stands and asks Bok Nyeo to kill her, since she doesn’t have a reason to live. Dramatic much? Bok Nyeo looks at her. After a moment, she goes over to the desk and picks up the scissors. Han Gyul looks a little freaked, like she didn’t expect Bok Nyeo to do it. Bok Nyeo is completely silent as she binds her wrists with ducts tape. And as Han Gyul protests, she duct tapes her to the desk. Bok Nyeo leaves the room and nails her inside.

Bok Nyeo goes down and makes her some dinner. As she returns to Han Gyul’s room, Han Gyul bursts out, finally wiggling the nails loose. Bok Nyeo puts down the tray and goes to push her back into the room. Han Gyul shoves past her but Bok Nyeo is relentless. Han Gyul ends up falling down the stairs. Bok Nyeo approaches with the scissors, which Han Gyul’s eyes bulging.

Bok Nyeo cuts through the tape still around Han Gyul’s wrists. Hye Gyul wants to know why Bok Nyeo didn’t kill her. Bok Nyeo asks her if she really wants to die. Because if so, she can take Han Gyul to the river right now. Han Gyul’s already had plenty of chances to do it. Bok Nyeo says that Sang Chul called and ordered her to stop Han Gyul from doing it, so his order overrides hers. Then Bok Nyeo adds that Han Gyul doesn’t have the courage to end her life.

Hye Gyul can’t understand why Bok Nyeo thinks she can’t die. Bok Nyeo replies that if a person could die just because they want to, she (Bok Nyeo) would have died a long time ago. Bok Nyeo starts to walk away and Han Gyul asks if she tried to commit suicide. Bok Nyeo says that she did. And she believes there’s a reason she didn’t. Director Hong told her that there surely must be a reason that she’s still alive, if God exists. Han Gyul wants to know if she found the reason and Bok Nyeo says, turning to look at her, not yet. That is really sad.

Right then, Sang Chul enters with the siblings. He’s very happy to see her. But she’s still cold, telling him that she tried to ruin herself because of him but it was already messed up from the beginning.. Sang Chul steps forward to hug her and she tells him to stay back. She grabs for the scissors Bok Nyeo’s holding but Sang Chul stops her. She moans about everything, ending on how Grandpa was right and it would have been better if she’d never been born. She asks Sang Chul to tell her a reason to live. Sang Chul gets flustered and Bok Nyeo says that there isn’t a reason for her to live… Cue shocked faces from everyone… Until she finishes with, if she doesn’t have a family who loves her. Which Han Gyul does. If she doesn’t have anyone who would feel sad if she died.

Bok Nyeo announces, as Han Gyul looks as her family, that it would be painful for those she left behind, just like how much her mother’s death hurt them. Sang Chul tells her that Bok Nyeo is right and then asks her if she knows why she was named Han Gyul. Even though Grandpa was furious and it was dangerous to carry her, Sun Young was determined to keep her because she believe that Han Gyul would make their family whole. That’s the meaning of her name. And if she wasn’t there, there’d be no Doo Gyul, Se Gyul or Hye Gyul. And I’m a little misty. She looks over at her siblings and they each say something. She apologizes for making them see her like this. Hye Gyul asks Han Gyul to fix her hair. Han Gyul asks Bok Nyeo for a hair tie and the crisis is over, so Sang Chul sighs with relief.

Hye Gyul is playing with her rocks as Han Gyul does her hair. Sang Chul thanks Bok Nyeo for blocking his Han Gyul. Han Gyul turns to Sang Chul and asks him for a favor, for him to prove that they’re more precious that anyone else in the world. She doesn’t want to be betrayed anymore or scared of being thrown away again. She really wishes that they could put the dad rock with the other rocks. The kids look at dad. He fingers the rock in his pocket. I sit and want to pop him as he stares at the tin.

Sang Chul is leaving. Again. I guess he didn’t put the rock in the tin. He thanks Bok Nyeo for her help. She responds that she was following orders. He tells her that her eyes are saying that it’s all his fault. He orders her to stop giving him that critical look and just hit him once, so he can get ahold of his senses. She asks him if it’s an order. And I’m wondering how badly she could hurt him, if she's asking and it means she doesn’t want to hit him like he asks. There’s a pauses as they look at each other. And then Mrs. Nosy comes outside.

Mrs. Nosy is so happy to see that he’s come back. Even if he has a great housekeeper, she’s still no family. Sang Chul awkwardly agrees, which makes Bok Nyeo look at him and ask him about the order he gave her earlier. Because she’s pissed that he doesn’t consider her part of their family. Ha! She cracks her knuckles. Mrs. Nosy asks about the order and Sang Chul says it’s nothing before he scurries away.

Han Gyul’s bedroom. Bok Nyeo is making up the bed. Han Gyul is very happy to have this bed to sleep in and Bok Nyeo looks happy that Han Gyul is better. In her Bok Nyeo deadpan way. There’s a smile eating at the corner of her mouth.

Next day at school, Teacher is telling Han Gyul that she’ll have to prove that she didn’t sleep with the old guy. How is she going to prove it sicne there’s the picture? They have to figure out something, so Teacher won’t get in trouble if there’s an inquiry.

The fangirls approach Soo Hyuk. He’d asked for them, since they were the ones who took the picture. He ‘smiles’ and tells them they did something major. They’re happy but he’s definitely not.

Teacher is telling Han Gyul that she’ll have to bring the old guy, that she doesn’t know, in to prove that nothing happened. Soo Hyuk arrives with the fangirls. The girls say that there’s video. It shows her shoving him off and running away.

Later, Han Gyul finds Soo Hyuk playing his guitar. He won’t look at her. She tells him thank you. He tells her he was just fixing what he started. Now they’re even. She turns to leave and Woo Jae enters. He asks her if she’s quitting the band. She says she just joined because she liked someone but not any longer. She leaves. Woo Jae tells Soo Hyuk that with her gone, they’re losing their visual component. Is he really going to let that happen? Soo Hyuk shift uncomfortably. Wait, is Woo Jae trying to match them back together? What are you doing, dude?

Bok Nyeo is out with Hye Gyul. They are at the grocery store. Bok Nyeo is giving her pictures of what they’re buying and Bok Nyeo is finding all the food. She is having a blast. And Bok Nyeo is enjoying herself, too. Mrs. Nosy comes across them and rushes over to stop this child abuse. Does she think she can do this just because the girl doesn’t have a mother. Bok Nyeo answers, “Yes, it’s all right to do this.” Hye Gyul chimes in that they’re playing a game. Uh Jin chimes in that he wants to play, much to Mrs. Nosy’s chagrin.

Stalker man is there watching, pretending to be buying groceries. Now he’s pushing someone (who we can’t see). He’s saying that the letter declaring her a murderer didn’t work, so it’s time for him to let her know that they know what she did, in person, before she becomes their furniture (part of their family). Rut-roh! The person is an adult, covered with a red and black blanket.

Bok Nyeo is outside, looking up at the moon.

Han Gyul and Woo Jae are walking home. He’s a little bitter that Soo Hyuk started with the poison, but then handed out the cure. He wants her to stay in the band. She asks him if he wants her to say and he’s, like, yes! When she asks him why, his eyes bulge a little, because he doesn’t want to say that he likes her. Instead he says, lamely, that he doesn’t want to lose their visual component. She kind of laughs. Bok Nyeo exits the house and he bows low to her before saying hello. She looks him up and down, which cracks me up because it’s very much the disapproving mother, and then turns to Han Gyul and asks if she changed her boyfriend in just a short amount of time. I am rolling as they squirm. Just kiss her already, Woo Jae! He deflects it by saying introducing himself and saying that his father said she’s a regular at their butcher shop. Not responding, Bok Nyeo leaves.

Watching her go, Woo Jae says she’s different than he imagined. He thought she would be someone warm and bright because his dad likes her. Han Gyul says that at first, she’s cold and scary but she warms up as time passes. Woo Jae wonders what her family is like.

The next day, Han Gyul asks what happened to Bok Nyeo’s family. Bok Nyeo doesn’t answer, but she’s clearly uncomfortable. Did Bok Nyeo try to kill herself because her family died? The other kids come down the stairs and Bok Nyeo says she’s sorry but she can’t let Han Gyul know about her personal life.

Happy Company. The kids are asking Director Hong about Bok Nyeo’s family, did they die? Director Hong whines, saying that she can’t tell because it’s complicated. Han Gyul mentions Director Hong saved her by telling her that there had to be a reason she was still alive. Director Hong says she did, but Bok Nyeo’s now as good as dead anyway. Doo Gyul asks if they died because of Bok Nyeo and the guilt is why she can’t smile. Director Hong raises her hand and says, “No, no. I’m not going to say anything.”

Se Gyul asks if the amusement park had anything to do with it, because she always orders a family set and doesn’t eat it. Director Hong sighs and says that he’s right. All three of them went there often. The kids reel at this revelation. Han Gyul asks *how* they died, an accident? Director Hong asks them whether they were going to school, so they rush out. As they leave, she yells after them not to tell Bok Nyeo that she said anything. Then she mutters to herself that she told them again.

TV Program. Mr. Nosy is narrating in front of the camera: “The wife, who is the victim, says that her husband wanted to leave the family some life insurance money. She claims that he, himself, made his death look like an accident. But, here is someone who strongly questions that claim. That is the victim's mother-in-law. She says that there were fervent conflicts between the dead husband and the victim.” Bok Nyeo and her husband? Why show this if it wasn’t somehow related? Mrs. Nosy shows up at the set, wearing a stylish red outfit, complete with hat. The mother-in-law is saying that they fought because he had a mistress.

In the dressing room, as Mr. Nosy gets his makeup touched up, Mrs. Nosy gives his producer some bath salts, for stress. The producer doesn’t want to take it, but he tells her to take it. Later, the producer is using the bath salts as she’s dressed in a robe. She asks someone, who turns out to be Mr. Nosy, whether Mrs. Nosy knows about them. He tells the producer not to worry because his wife is not too bright.

Bok Nyeo’s in the kitchen, sharpening a knife. The kids are standing behind her. She asks them not to. Next time, she doesn’t know what she might do. Doo Gyul tells her that she’s scaring them. She goes back to sharpening the knife. Han Gyul asks if Bok Nyeo had a husband and child? Se Gyul asks if the three of them often when to the amusement park. And it’s creepy to hear the metal scrape as the knife is sharpened. Se Gyul asks why her family died. She stops and says that she killed them. The kids are shocked.

Bok Nyeo looks up at the moon a pained look in her eyes. She cries, her face not moving but tears streaming down her cheeks.

Happy Agency. Director Hong laughs at what the kids have told her. Doo Gyul can’t understand how she can be laughing, since she said she killed her family. Hye Gyul wants to know if it’s true. Director Hong asks her if it’s an order. Hye Gyul replies that it is. Director Hong replies that she will… not obey her orders. She’s not going to say anything because it’s complicated. Se Gyul’s prepared a game (yes and no). Director Hong says she’s always wanted to play this game. But she’s only going to answer three questions. Doo Gyul asks if she’ll respond honestly. Holding up the yes paddle, she says yes, she will. Now, second question. He protests that it wasn’t a question, but Se Gyul shushes him. He asks if the dead family is a husband and son. Yes. Doo Gyul mutters that that means she was married. Yes, that was three questions. Director Hong notices her watch and starts counting down. The kids realize that Bok Nyeo is coming and hide.

Like clockwork, Bok Nyeo arrives. She asks/tells Director Hong not to say anything about her past, specifically the kids. Holding up the no paddle, Director Hong says she can’t do that. Bok Nyeo says that the kids are there and declares that whatever they ask, she cannot answer. The kids pop up and ask her to explain what she meant about killing her family. Se Gyul searched the internet and there was no murder case related to her. Bok Nyeo looks at them and declares that if they must know about her past, she will quit. The kids relent and leave.

Before Bok Nyeo goes, Director Hong stops her and asks if it’s possible for Bok Nyeo to forget and forgive what her mother-in-law said to her? Bok Nyeo just leaves. As she walks, we get the flashback. At the morgue. Bok Nyeo is on the floor. Mother-in-law declares that she killed them. She weeps and the woman yells are her to smile, laugh so her mouth rips. Bok Nyeo falls forward at the weight of her mother-in-law’s hatred. So is stalker her brother-in-law?

Butcher Shop. Woo Jae is telling Mr. Shin about Bok Nyeo’s dead husband and son. Even though she said she killed them, he doesn’t think she did. Because you’re an astute boy. Mrs. Shin is chopping meat. She announces an affair. Waving the knife meaningfully, she says that Bok Nyeo punished her husband for having an affair. She hands the knife to Mr. Shin and ushers their son off inside.

Mr. Shin is pondering Bok Nyeo’s story as he sharpens the knife. Bok Nyeo enters and he brightly tries to make small talk. No Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton is on. Mr. Shin mentions the nice song and she replies that it’s about him longing for his dead son. This chokes Mr. Shin up momentarily – and me too – but she’s all about the meat that she’s there to buy. She can’t help but notice.

Dunkin’ Donuts! I can’t say how excited I am to know they have Dunkin’ Donuts in Korea! Sang Chul is there to get breakfast. Auntie just happens to be having breakfast there, but I think she was waiting for Dad. Auntie wants to know why he’s still wearing such a light jacket but that’s all he brought when he left the house. Auntie mentions that Han Gyul wants to see her and Sang Chul remembers her asking to them that they’re the most precious thing in his life. He sighs sadly.

Store. Auntie’s shopping for a jacket. Or maybe she works there, because someone enters the shop and she says hello. She comes across a jacket like Bok Nyeo’s. Next thing you know, she shows up at the house wearing the jacket and a grey cap, just like Bok Nyeo. Hye Gyul answers the door and is confused. So am I. Why would she do that? She says that since Bok Nyeo is good at everything, she thought dressing like Bok Nyeo would make her good at everything, too. And I have a feeling that stalker’s going to do something to Auntie, since she’s dressed like Bok Nyeo. Even though Auntie has short red hair and is a different height.

Bok Nyeo comes to the entrance way and notes Auntie’s clothes. She gives a brief acknowledgement and then goes back to her work. Auntie and the kids move to the dining room table. Auntie’s still wearing Bok Nyeo’s getup. She asks why Han Gyul wanted to see her. Han Gyul thanks her for her help and Auntie almost chokes on her coffee. She’s surprised because it’s the first time Han Gyul’s ever told her thank you. Han Gyul also wants Grandpa to know that she’s sorry for how she behaved.

Auntie wants to know what they’re going to do about their dad, because he’s starting to look like a homeless peron, with his haggard face and ripped jacket. Auntie’s brought a jacket for Appa and wants them to talk to their dad about coming home. Han Gyul asks Bok Nyeo what they should do, but instead of saying that it’s for them to decide, like the kids expect, she says that it’s for Sang Chul to decide. Things like adultery are like drugs; they start with curiosity but then they overpower your life and you want to escape but can’t.

Later Doo Gyul talks to Se Gyul. He thinks that Bok Nyeo’s eyes were really firey (angry) when she was talking about adultery and there’s a story behind why. I rewatch that scene and still don’t think that Bok Nyeo really was very emotional about it when she talked. Except for when she went back to cutting up vegetables. Han Gyul enters and wants to talk. She wonders why it’s so hard for Appa to prove that he loves them.

Bok Nyeo tucks Hye Gyul into bed. When she leaves her room, the kids ask her if she can find out whether Sang Chul is through with Song Hwa. She says she can’t, because it’s something not even Sang Chul knows. Han Gyul asks her to tell their father to come back home, on the condition that it’s ended with Song Hwa. Well, that’s already happened, at least on Song Hwa’s end.

Sang Chul is at the home office and stumbles across Song Hwa talking to Manager Choi. They’re planning on eating dinner later at her house. She doesn’t look too burdened over the breakup anymore. She walks away and Manager Kim walks up and asks Manager Choi if he’s planning on marrying her. No, why should he? Manager Kim’s relieved and Manager Choi adds that she’s like a trophy that shows he won over Sang Chul. What a sleezeball! This pisses Sang Chul off so there’s a fist clench.

As Manager Choi starts to go upstairs, Sang Chul confronts him about what he said, saying that she’s not someone to be treated that way. She just happened to get entangled with a married man. Manager Choi thinks he’s got a double standard about their toy. Sang Chul counters that at least he was sincere in his affections! And I am annoyed. This woman is not worth this, you idiot. Manager Choi snorts about first love. Sang Chul grabs his jacket and tells Manager Choi to step on him, if her has to step on someone, and not play on a weak woman’s heart. Manager Choi throws him off, to the ground, straightens his ties and jacket and walks away. And Sang Chul’s cut his hand in the process.

At the construction site, Sang Chul tries to call Song Hwa but the call doesn’t connect. She sends him a text saying she can’t answer right now. Sang Chul sighs and then notices that Bok Nyeo is stands there, looking at him. Immediately she gets to work on his hand. She’s not exactly delicate cleaning it. Which I think shows her irritation at him being an idiot. I’d clean it the same way. She says that she’s there with a message from the children. But Auntie arrives before she can say the message.

The trio move to Dunkin’ Donuts. Who said that Korean television didn’t have product placement? Heh. Auntie tells Sang Chul that he must show some guts and go home. She worked it so that the kids will take him back. And family should stick together no matter what. If the family hadn’t gone to study in the Philippines (leaving Sang Chul behind) then none of this would have happened. Sang Chul asks Bok Nyeo what she thinks. But he’s not struggling with whether he loves his kids or wants to come home, but how can he prove he loves them more. Even though Auntie encourages him, he tells Bok Nyeo that he realized today that it’s still not over with Song Hwa. And I could swear I saw Bok Nyeo’s jaw clench.

Auntie gets really uncomfortable and leaves with some lame excuse about having to get back to the store. Sang Chul asks Bok Nyeo what her message is. She tells him that he should go home. He asks if she thinks he should and she adds the part about the condition. He can come home if he breaks up with Song Hwa. Which he just realized that he hasn’t done yet. She wants to know what she should tell the kids and then repeats what he just said about still liking and wanting Song Hwa. He doesn’t want her to say that! But he can’t think of anything else, so he tells her not to say anything to them. Sang Chul sighs and says that he’s really pathetic. Bok Nyeo thinks he is very pathetic. He’s surprised at her agreeing with him, but not mad.

At home, the kids want to know what Sang Chul said when she delivered their message. Bok Nyeo takes a moment to answer. She reports that he said not to say anything to them right now. Doo Gyul wants to know what that means but Bok Nyeo is off to clean the bathroom. The kids wonder if the reason he didn’t say anything is because he’s still seeing Song Hwa. Doo Gyul doesn’t want to believe it.

Grandpa’s Office. He’s cleaning piping. His detective is reporting about Sang Chul having an affair and that’s why he was demoted. The detective even got a hold of one of the flyers that Bok Nyeo was distributing. The flyer included a copy of Sun Young’s suicide note. Grandpa calls Bok Nyeo. He asks whether it’s true that Sun Young killed herself because of Sang Chul’s affair and then if it’s true that she was passing out the flyers. She answers yes to both questions. Grandpa asks her why she would do something like that and Bok Nyeo quickly begins to rattle a blow-by-blow of events, from the note almost burning, to Han Gyul’s angry order. Then Bok Nyeo hangs up the phone. Grandpa seethes with rage over what Sang Chul did. Even though you basically disowned your daughter, you’re mad that he had an affair. Because you have a right to do that after the way you treated her.

Song Hwa’s apartment. She’s cooking. Someone calls. She answers that she is Yoon Song Hwa. After another moment, she asks for them to meet at a café across from her apartment. I’m thinking it’s Grandpa. At the café, she looks over at the table where she told Sun Young about the affair and to leave and take the kids with her. Then letting Sun Young hear them together later. After which Sun Young killed herself. It is Grandpa. And I bet she’s going to throw Sang Chul under the bus again.

Grandpa asks Song Hwa if she ever met his daughter. She lies. He thinks it’s fishy that Sun Young came back to Korea by herself and just jumped into the Han River and killed herself. Something really shocking must have led her to that. So Sun Young came to Korea to surprise her husband on his birthday and found out he was cheating on her. That was extra harsh. Song Hwa really is a witch. I’ll bet Sang Chul didn’t even know his wife was *in* Korea. I wouldn’t put it past Song Hwa to intercept the wife’s call so she can stake her claim. Song Hwa gets defensive and asks why they’re all saying it’s her fault – Han Gyul, Bok Nyeo and now him. She didn’t push Sun Young in the river.

Grandpa declares that she has no shame. She doesn’t. Really, she doesn’t. Breaking up a family is the same thing as murder. She responds that she’s not the one that broke up the family. It was already broken without her. Sang Chul had the divorce papers and just needed his wife’s seal. And Song Hwa conveniently has a picture of the divorce application on her phone. I wonder if Sang Chul really did that, or if it was another thing she did to show Sun Young that their marriage was over. I wouldn’t put it past this woman. Wow, I really don’t like this woman.

Song Hwa declares that she has someone else that she’s planning on marrying. Grandpa is shocked at her audacity. She declares that she finished cleanly with Sang Chul. And then her phone rings; it’s Sang Chul. Grandpa sees. Grandpa slams the table with his fist and asks her how she could spout such nonsense to his face. She smugly replies that she’s finished with him, but it looks like it’s not over for him.

Song Hwa, in her short skirt and open-toed heels, walks up to where Sang Chul is. It looks like it’s the outside of her building. And I’m wondering if Grandpa’s hiding somewhere listening. Sang Chul’s come to warn her about Manager Choi. He calls Choi dangerous and says that he’s not serious about her. She asks him if he’s this type of man, to talk badly about people behind their backs. Sang Chul starts to say that he still has feelilngs, but she cuts him off, telling him he’s not the man she liked. He used to be indecisive but he wasn’t this shabby, petty coward. Song Hwa threatens him, saying that if he comes back, she’ll report him as a stalker. She walks off.

Grandpa is watching, in his car. He’s furious and starts to get out of his car, when the detective, who I guess is his secretary given that he’s now Grandpa’s chauffer, tells Grandpa to calm down, since it won’t help them accomplish the project they’re working on. Taking away the kids?

Grandpa goes out to the spot at the Han River where Sun Young killed herself and cries and tells her that he was planning on divorcing her, so why did she do it? Grandpa declares that he’s going to get Sang Chul’s seal now. Grandpa calls Sang Chul. Sang Chul reluctantly answers. What is he planning?

At home, Hye Gyul asks big sis if Sang Chul said when he was coming home. She misses Appa. All the kids’ faces say they do, too. Han Gyul goes and looks out the window and sees Sang Chul pacing nervously outside. Sang Chul comes in the house and Hye Gyul happily hugs him. Bok Nyeo appears. He starts to say something about their last conversation and Bok Nyeo says “Garbage” and then adds that she has to take it out today. I like how she’s telling him that she’s ready to throw away his hesitation, if he is.

Outside, she sees Grandpa drive up. Inside Hye Gyul is reading to Sang Chul. The kids are happy he’s home, but Sang Chul’s nervous. He starts to say, but Bok Nyeo enters and declares that Grandpa is here. Grandpa storms in and pulls the flyer angrily out of his jacket. He tells Bok Nyeo to start reading it. But Sang Chul stops her before she gets very far. Grandpa orders Han Gyul to go get Sang Chul’s stamping ink. Han Gyul doesn’t want to get it, but Bok Nyeo has some in her bag. She brings it out and Grandpa slams it on the table, demanding that Sang Chul put his stamp on the application to give up his parental rights. Hye Gyul reads what it says, that he gave his children injury and as a result, he’s decided to give up his parental rights to Woo Geum Chi (Grandpa).

Sang Chul grabs the paper out of Hye Gyul’s hands. I guess he didn’t know that’s what Grandpa was planning, based on his expression as he reads the application. And I like that he ripped it out of Hye Gyul’s hands because he's so upset. Grandpa declares that animals don’t treat their mates the way that he treated Sun Young. He promised Sun Young that he would take her kids. Then Grandpa grabs Sang Chul and starts angrily asking why he’s still alive when Sun Young isn’t. He pushes Sang Chul backward, causing him and Sun Young’s picture to fall to the floor. The glass in the frame shatters.

Grandpa starts screaming for Sang Chul to die! Die! Die! Auntie has enters and she tries to get her father to calm down, because the kids are watching. Bok Nyeo goes over and starts picking up the frame. Grandpa screams that they are all the same. Don’t they feel bad about their mother? Han Gyul asks that Grandpa give Sang Chul some time and he screams at her to be quiet. Is she taking his side? Why is she still calling him ‘father’? He declares that Sang Chul never had any fatherly feelings for them. On his knees, Sang Chul tells Grandpa to kill him. Grandpa screams back that he can! The kids start arguing for Grandpa to stop, because it would make things more complicated. Grandpa cries that they’re just like their father. Then he starts moaning and crying to the picture.

Sang Chul stands up and angrily declares that Grandpa doesn’t have the right to do this to the children either. Bok Nyeo looks at him and I could swear there’s a hint of a smile. Sang Chul points out that Grandpa never did anything for them and *now* he’s trying to be their grandfather? Grandpa grabs a vase to hit Sang Chul, and Sang Chul waits for the blow, but Bok Nyeo steps in and stops Grandpa. Sang Chul comes up and tells her that she should move because it’s dangerous. He puts his hand on her shoulder. And she judo flips him onto the floor. I guess he forgot the rule about not coming up behind her. And this answers whether or not Grandpa is really that dangerous to her.

Sang Chul’s lying on the floor with his eyes closed. The kids try to rouse him and then ask Bok Nyeo if he’s dead. She replies that she told him not to stand behind her. Grandpa looks at Bok Nyeo with astonishment. They end up having to take Sang Chul to the hospital in an ambulance.

As Bok Nyeo goes to leave the house, Mrs. Nosy comes outside and asks about what happened. Did Sang Chul get hurt? Did someone hit him? Bok Nyeo replies that she did. And then she goes to walk home. Out at the street, she pauses because she knows the stalker is there. He smiles ‘evilly.’ In a little bit, she pauses and then goes into a construction site, which just happens to be accessible. He follows her inside. She grabs him out of nowhere and shoves him so that he’s hanging off the building, with only her to pull him up. Even though her face is impassive, she looks really pissed. And that she knows who this is. Episode ends.

Thoughts

And we're almost to the point where the family's back together, even bringing Grandpa closer than he ever was in real life. It's interesting to see how he totally ignores how he treated her and instead focuses on how Sang Chul mistreated her, even to the point of being violent in front of the children that he thinks he knows best for. I loved how the kids got to see their dad fight for them, from his angry response to the petition to give up custody, to begging to take the grandfather's wrath to get him to stop. I loved how he spoke the truth and stood up to the old man, probably for the first time in his life. And I suspect that Sang Chul was afraid to love his wife because of her father, but never realized that because he was too busy running away.

I love how this drama is showing the transformation of Sang Chul's character. I love that Lee Sung Jae is playing a completely different character than he did in 'Gu Family Book.' I actually like this guy and I was afraid I wouldn't after that drama and how evil Kwan Woong was. He started as a cowardly man, constantly befuddled and indecisive because he was afraid to fight for anything. And now he's fighting for his children.

It does make me laugh that Bok Nyeo judo flipped him. It just makes me wonder what she did before she had her traumatic experience. And since adultery came up, what did happen with her family? Why did the mother-in-law hold *her* responsible? I bet the husband cheated on her and the mother-in-law was blaming her for not keeping her husband satisfied, because we all know *that's* why husbands cheat. It's all their wives fault. Not that they have the integrity problem or anything. I still like the idea of Bok Nyeo ending up as the step-mom, because she's built this relationship with Sang Chul where he feels respected by her and where he can be real and not feel judged (too much, but then it's his own guilt talking). That's a good thing to have in a wife. And besides, she can do anything, so she'd be a great partner to help him advance back through his job. Even if she's a little cold at the beginning.

Mrs. Nosy is still stirring up trouble. I wonder when she's going to officially discover the affair. I think those bath salts are going to be the clue and Mrs. Nosy is actually going to run to Bok Nyeo for comfort when she discovers her husband's infidelity.

The preview has Song Hwa calling Sang Chul for help and I can't help but wonder if she's ended up pregnant, maybe by Manager Choi. And I will scream, "No!" because that would mean that she'd be in their lives forever, what with a baby. Please don't let Sang Chul rescue her. He already fell on his sword big time at work to protect her. Do not ruin your family because of feelings for someone who doesn't deserve it.

I really wonder more and more about that meeting with Sun Young. I'm suspecting that Song Hwa really manipulated things, like the fake divorce papers and the cake, to stick it to Sun Young so that Sun Young would take the kids and she could live her carefree life with Sang Chul. A lot of times I feel bad for the woman, but not this time. I really don't like Song Hwa for all her selfishness. She expected Sang Chul to choose her over his wife and his kids and then dumped him when he couldn't make that choice anymore. And she's jumped into bed with her next boss, too.

Thankfully, Han Gyul's mess got cleaned up with the girls admitting that they manipulated things to make her look like a complete slut. At least Soo Hyuk wasn't a total sleezeball. It makes me wonder if he really did like her, but was running away from it. Not that I want her to end up with him, because the boy needs to man up, but it's interesting that this might be where he's coming from, since his parents are divorced and he basically has had to raise himself. But the way they are writing this, I can see them writing the outcome that way.

But I'm hoping more that they go with what they've set up, Han Gyul with the good kid, Woo Jae. He's been her friend the whole time and looked out for her and he came to her rescue more than once. Unlike Soo Hyuk, I don't think he'd ever hate hearing Han Gyul's problems, because he loves her and wants to be there for her. I can see him actually having to tell her that, since I'm sure she's going to feel insecure about being open with a boyfriend after Soo Hyuk called her clingy. I also love that Woo Jae is a good guy who doesn't judge people, even his own parents. He wants them to be happy and I get the feeling that they're only still together because the mom wants it to be so.

Bok Nyeo's secret is partially out and she knows it. But she's staying around for these kids, because she's grown to love them. From some of what's been said, I wonder if this isn't the first family she's been the housekeeper for. And why *does* she always wear that hat and coat. I just thought of something. Maybe that news report about the kidnapping, it was her son who was kidnapped and never returned. They were at the amusement park and Bok Nyeo looked away for a moment and the kidnapper, dressed like she was, took her son. Which would make sense why (1) She always wears the same outfit (in case the son would see her and be able to find her again), (2) She goes to the same amusement park *everyday* with the same meal, waiting for him to see her, and (3) The mother-in-law would blame her for their deaths (because she wasn't watching closely enough and the father died in reaction to the news). I'm almost certain that this is what happened, giving the little nuggets they've been sprinkling, like the news reports. And if my theory is correct, then the husband wasn't having an affair, which would explain why Bok Nyeo doesn't have a stronger reaction to that part, but rather her reactions are to the loss of the family, how Sang Chul caused that pain and loss with his affair.

I wonder about Auntie. I find her a little annoying, but sweet, which is how everyone else finds her, too. But can one person be *that* clumsy? I've known clumsy people, but no one that falls as much as she does.

My thoughts end on the guy hanging off the side of the building at the end of Bok Nyeo's fist. It's going to be good, listening to their conversation. We'll get to learn more about both of them and what he's thinking. And doesn't he have a job? How can he afford to tail her all the time? And is mother-in-law mute and wheelchair bound now? Is that why she didn't say anything? Or prehaps the husband *isn't* dead... No, this isn't that type of story.
