Gu Family Book Episode 24 (Final) Recap

The episode begins with Kang Chi standing in front of Soon Shin, with Soon Shin asking why Kang Chi is there. Really? We’re going to back track instead of answering the question of who got shot? Really? Do you seriously want me to hate you more, writers? Kang Chi asks how far Soon Shin trusts him. He declares that he wants to break this curse. He can no longer forgive the atrocious – I had to use the word because it’s just so cheesily deliciously on in it’s description – the atrocious acts of Jo Kwan Woong. Soon Shin asks if this is really Kang Chi’s will (decided course of action). Kang Chi answers that it is. Soon Shin makes Kang Chi promise that he won't kill someone for revenge but allow Soon Shin to punish Kwan Woong and his followers according to martial law. If Kang Chi kills because of hatred or anger, he’ll be no different than Kwan Woong. Which I disagree with. Completely. He’d still be way different than Kwan Woong. Kwan Woong kills whoever gets in his way. He doesn’t care who he hurts. Yes, fundamentally, they both kill to get what they want. But, stupid fallacious logic, Soon Shin. And I don’t normally think you’re being stupid.

The long barn hallway. I didn’t notice Bong Chool’s guy fighting with them the last time. Kang Chi saves Yeo Wool’s life. Lots of shots of Gon, Tae Seo, Bong Chool and his buddy fighting. I love that the buddy is spinning a ninja around like they’re pro-wrestlers. Kang Chi unties Ma Reum and Eok Man. Everyone is fine. And Yeo Wool’s hair is down. The rest of the gang arrive and are glad to see everyone okay. Bong Chool marvels over the “chilling” ball of death. Tae Seo makes sure that Yeo Wool is fine. She and Gon share this same non-verbal exchange and Gon smiles, his face saying he wants to cry he’s so relieved that she’s okay.

Kang Chi declares that there's no time. And I am annoyed that they are making everything feel victorious and happy right before Yeo Wool is going to die. No, I don’t *know* that it’s going to happen, and I’m hoping that it won’t, but I just have this horrible feeling that I’m right. Kang Chi says that Soon Shin should have reached the courtyard by now. Yeo Wool is surprised that Soon Shin came, too. Kang Chi declares that “Today… we will put an end to Jo Kwan Woong.”

Kang Chi starts to tell Yeo Wool to go back to the camp, but she interrupts and says that it sounds good (going to the courtyard), since she was planning on giving Kwan Woong a roundhouse kick anyway. Kang Chi tells her she should go back to her father, since she was tied all night and her energy is low. She argues, he does, too, until she says that she wants to be with him. She wants to be witness to history. Everyone looks at Kang Chi, asking him to let her go with their eyes. He has to say yes.

Courtyard. Swords drawn on Soon Shin. Kwan Woong declares that it’s been fun. Kang Chi arrives. Tells Kwan Woong that today is the end. Yada yada yada. The broom in the floor. The fuse is lit. Kwan Woong sneers. No one can tell why.

This time, Yeo Wool notices the gun. She yells to warn Kang Chi and Ninja Soh shoots her in the back. By Ninja Soh’s reaction, that is *not* who he was aiming for. Yeo Wool just sits there, gasping. She collapses to the ground. Kang Chi catches her and holds her in his arms. She doesn’t say anything. Kang Chi looks at her blood on his hand. A tear falls from her eye. She says his name and he says hers. She reaches up and grabs his sleeve. She says, “Anywhere. Don’t go anywhere.” And then she closes her eyes. And dies.

I’m pausing here for a minute, because I am so mad! And sad. And SAD. I can’t believe she died. What kind of crap is that?!!!

Gon and Tae Seo run over and start calling her name. Kang Chi’s eyes blaze green, but then return to normal. Kwan Woong sneers. Kang Chi stands and starts toward Ninja Soh. Ninja Soh starts to try to reload, but his fear makes his hands unsteady. Any guard that gets in the way, Kang Chi easily ‘moves.’ The gun won’t fire. Because the fuse isn’t lit. Kang Chi grabs the gun and his eyes flare green momentarily. Kang Chi throws the gun away. Then he starts pounding on Ninja Soh.

Then Kang Chi throws Ninja Soh up against the wall and grabs him by the neck, choking him. His eyes flare green and he tells Ninja Soh to die. They’re worthless, rotten things. All of them. Soon Shin yells Kang Chi’s name (twice because he didn’t hear the first time). Kang Chi looks at Soon Shin and recalls the promise. Kang Chi declares that this man must die. He doesn’t deserve to live and Kang Chi is going to kill him barehanded. Soon Shin replies that once Kang Chi gets blood on his hands, it will bring more uncontrollable blood later on.

And Yeo Wool ISN’T DEAD. She says his name. Kang Chi drops Ninja Soh, who sags to the ground, but is still breathing. His eyes go back to normal. He runs to her. Gon declares that they need to hurry and get her out of there.

As Kang Chi goes to pick her up, Kwan Woong declares, “Never! No one can leave from this place!!!” Think the railroad-damsel-tying villain that he is. He declares that no one there will be getting out alive. He orders their throats slit. But Soon Shin shouts for him to back off. No one moves.

Soon Shin walks over to stand before Kwan Woong and declares that he can no longer watch Kwan Woong’s heinous actions. He shouts, “Jung Woo!” and a horde of soldier burst into Century House, including covering the roof. Lots and lots of archers on the roof, all their arrows aimed at Kwan Woong. Pointing his stick at Kwan Woong, Soon Shin growls for Jung Woo to arrest Kwan Woong, declaring that the guy framed innocent people for treason to steal their riches. Not only that, but he stole the military’s secrets and sold them off and even tried to assassinate the Admiral of Jolla, Lee Soon Shin. Soon Shin declares that Kwan Woong’s actions are evil and SERIOUS and he’s arrest Kwan Woong.

Kwan Woong doesn’t get it. He blusters that Soon Shin dares to mess with him right now?!! Soon Shin responds that if he (Soon Shin) wants to cut his enemy’s throat, he also has to attack with his throat out. He declares that Kwan Woong aimed his sword with such determination. Soon Shin’s really growling as he asks what Kwan Woong’s going to do: die now or throw away his sword and surrender.

Kwan Woong looks over at the Goongbon. Pil Mok muses that Soon Shin gave them three days to get out of Dodge, right? He decides that they must go and prepare so they can leave the next day. Then he walks off. Kwan Woong can’t believe it. But I can. Before Kageshima goes, he gives a bow toward Soon Shin, indicating that they’re taking Soon Shin’s offer. Ninja Soh starts screaming for the guards to escort Kwan Woong. As if on cue, the guards throw out smoke bombs and Kwan Woong runs, with them behind him. The smoke isn’t so bad that Soon Shin can’t see where Kwan Woong runs to. He orders his men after them.

Kang Chi protects Yeo Wool from the smoke and cries because she’s NOT DEAD. I hate the writers for their fakeout. Hate them. But I’m glad she’s not dead.

Gisaeng House. Soo Ryun has just received the news that Yeo Wool has been shot. Jin Song’s delivering the news to her, Chung Jo and Oh Mom. It’s very serious, according to the message. Chung Jo’s never heard of the musket and, although Soo Ryun’s never seen one, she’s heard that it shoots a lump of metal into a person and eventually that shot person faces death. So Yeo Wool *is* going to die. Writers!!!

Yeo Wool lies in her room, sweat on her brow, with Pyung Joon, Gong Dal and Yeo Joo sitting at her side. Gong Dal mentions that the physician said that she probably doesn’t have much time left. So the rest of this episode is going to be torturing the audience with whether or not Yeo Wool is going to die or if she and Kang Chi will get their happy ending. I almost want to skip to the end.

Flashback to Yeo Wool as a small girl, asking Pyung Joon to learn how to use a sword. And now I’m starting to cry for Pyung Joon. Who has been stupid most of this series. Pyung Joon asks her why she wants to learn that. She replies that a kid (I think Kang Chi) got hurt because of her and all she could do was cry. She wants to learn so that no one will get hurt because of her again. Pyung Joon smiles adoringly at his little girl. Back to the present. Fist clench and Pyung Joon rises. He leaves her room. What’s he going to do?

So Jung’s Library. So Jung sags to a seat at the news of Yeo Wool’s wound. He mutters that in the end, that’s what happened. Kang Chi begs for a some way to heal her. Kang Chi says he’ll do anything. So Jung sadly asks how there’s a solution to a person’s fate. But your prediction was that she *might* die, stupid!!! He muses that since she didn’t avoid her fate, she must have just paid the price. I so hate him. Kang Chi is desperate and mentions his blood again. So Jung repeats about it only saving someone once. Why? Because of an immunity? What about Wol Ryung’s blood? It’s not Kang Chi’s blood. Would that work?

Kang Chi bellows that Yeo Wool is dying!!! So Jung finally looks at his and asks if that might be Kang Chi’s fate. He needs to just accept that. Because you’re such the fount of wisdom. What stupidity, old man. So Jung tells Kang Chi to just go and be by her side; it’s the best Kang Chi can do.

Sullenly, Kang Chi climbs the steps to return to the training camp. He looks towards Yeo Wool’s room. Song approaches and says that Gong Dal’s been looking for him because Pyung Joon took some guards and headed into the woods to personally kill Kwan Woong. Which I think would just be perfect justice.

Scenes of Kwan Woong running with his guards. Pyung Joon, Gon and their men in hot pursuit. Tae Seo with another group. The guy leading Kwan Woong’s group signals for them to stop and crouch down, concluding that Soon Shin and Pyung Joon’s men are surrounding the mountain. Kwan Woong *wonders where Ninja Soh is.* Really? Kwan Woong has clearly lost touch with reality since he’s telling the guy to ask Ninja Soh and to follow Ninja Soh’s decision. One of the students spots Kwan Woong’s group and shoots off a blue flare arrow.

Soon Kwan Woong and his men are surrounded, with Pyung Joon calling Kwan Woong a bastard. Kwan Woong almost starts to make a run for it, but stops in his tracks when he sees Kang Chi, standing there, staring at him. Kwan Woong orders the two guys around him to go and kill Kang Chi, immediately!!! They aren’t moving. Kang Chi hisses that if they want to live, they better throw away their swords and run. As Kwan Woong gasps, “What?” Kang Chi shows the guys his green eyes. They drop their swords and run.

Kwan Woong picks up one of the swords and dares Kang Chi to come closer. He’ll slit Kang Chi’s throat. Really? He's got super speed and you’re no ninja. Kwan Woong continues to bluster when suddenly Kang Chi zips forward and strikes the hand with the sword. Kwan Woong screams and drops the sword. There’s a reaction from all the other people fighting and then they show it. Kang Chi just cut his hand off! What?! He cut his hand off. What?!!! Kwan Woong glowers, screaming in pain and Kang Chi asks him if it hurts. Then he says that compared to the pain he caused them, Kwan Woong’s pain is *nothing.* Kang Chi walks away as Kwan Woong screams.

Gisaeng House. Wol Sun’s getting the news that Kwan Woong’s been arrested. She looks genuinely upset, like she cares about him. Sicko. Another gisaeng says that Kwan Woong sold secrets to the Japanese. And something happened to his hand. Wol Sun looks like she’s going into shock when she turns and there’s Chung Jo and Gob Dan. Chung Jo happily asks if Wol Sun’s heard that Kwan Woong got arrested. Then she tells Wol Sun to move aside, since she’s on her way to see Soo Ryun. Wol Sun can do nothing but swallow crow and move aside. As Chung Jo walks on, there’s no real smile on her face but Gob Dan sure looks happy.

Yeo Wool finally wakes. Kang Chi’s sitting there holding her hand. He's overly doting, which makes Yeo Wool smile and I note Wol Ryung and Seo Hwa’s theme playing in the background. Yeo Wool asks Kang Chi to help her sit up. He wants her to stay lying down, but she insists. He asks her if she’s okay and her reply is to lay her head on his chest and snuggle in. I’m starting to cry as she says she’s really fine. She asks about Pyung Joon. She feels sorry to make him worry. Kang Chi tells her to hurry and get better.

Yeo Wool sits up to look at Kang Chi and says that she has three wishes. Will he grant them? The first was to have dinner with everyone. Fade to the table, with everyone there, laughing. Mostly. Gong Dal’s talking about Gon, how bad he was in the beginning. Yeo Wool adds that Gon was shorter than her until they were ten. It’s bittersweet and Pyung Joon is silent. Gon replies that he’s been taller since they were eleven. Yeo Wool adds that he’s a picky eater. When Yeo Joo hears that Gon doesn’t like carrots, she scolds Gon.

Kang Chi leans over and asks Tae Seo if he heard that, that *Gon* doesn’t like carrots. Yeo Wool’s surprised and Tae Seo tries to deny that he doesn’t like carrots. Gong Dal point out that Tae Seo and Gon are similar: inflexible minds. As Tae Seo starts to argue with Gong Dal, Yeo Wool start to be in real pain. Only Pyung Joon and Kang Chi notice, until Yeo Wool can’t hold onto her chopsticks anymore. Her wound has started bleeding again and it's dripping on the floor. She doesn’t say anything. When Kang Chi wants her to go lay down so she doesn’t overdo it, she says she wants to stay a little longer. Everyone tries not to cry.

Pyung Joon softly tells her to go and rest. And I can barely type because I can’t see. Seeing Pyung Joon’s face, Yeo Wool says she’s sorry. She keeps saying it as she begins to cry and I’m crying harder. He can’t stop his tears. He sadly takes her hand in his and they cry together, He tells her that, to him, she is the utmost joy. Everyone starts to cry now. Except for Gon, who struggles and holds it in. Pyung Joon says Kang Chi’s name and tells him that he leaves Yeo Wool to him.

As Kang Chi carries Yeo Wool back toward her room, she says his name. Her second wish is to go on a walk, now, just the two of them, even though it’s late. They end up by the river, sitting, holding hands. Yeo Wool’s head is leaning on his shoulder. She says that she’s curious about something. Why is he afraid of giant spiders? He says it’s because they have a lot of legs. She asks him if that’s really the reason and it is. He says he also is curious… He asks her if she remembers when he told her he would make her his bride. He wants to know what her answer would be, if he asked again. Yeo Wool wants to know how long it’s been since he remembered. He says since he realized she was a girl. She wants to know why he didn’t say anything. He replies that she’d already started having meaning for him, that’s why. Darn. I’m crying again.

Kang Chi ‘clarifies.’ Will Yeo Wool marry him? A tear falls as he looks at her and she looks at him. Finally she says that she can’t even make good rice. He repeats the question. Her tears start running as she adds that she’s terrible at sewing. He asks her a third time, even more emotional than the first two times. There’s silence. Finally she reaches up and takes his face in her hands. She tells him not to cry. As he tries to stop them for her, she tells him she wants top be a happy memory, not a sad one. She doesn’t want to be his tears. It would be better if she were his smile.

Yeo Wool says that whenever Kang Chi thinks of her, she wants him to be happy. That’s her third wish. There’s a pause and Kang Chi declares that they need to meet again. She nods as more tears come. He declares that he’ll wait. So they can definitely meet again. He, then she, says “I love you.” The blue fireflies come out. Kang Chi kisses her and thinks, “The time when I meet you again, I will recognize you first. The time when I meet you again, I will love you first.”

And then she dies.

Kang Chi doesn’t want to believe it and keeps saying her name as he weeps. I am really trying to not hyperventilate as I cry. Kang Chi’s voice says, “Like that... the sound of her breath stopped. And also, just like that... my time stopped.”

Pyung Joon stands, staring out the window into the night. Gong Dal sits alone in the kitchen. Soo Ryun is downcast at her desk. Chung Jo looks at the moon and thinks of Kang Chi. Gon waits by the dragon statue for Yeo Wool and Kang Chi’s return. He’s crying. I just finally stopped and now I’m crying harder at that. He clenches his fist as he thinks of her name, trying to deal with the loss, too.

Daytime. Kang Chi sits in her room, Yeo Wool’s wilted flower in a vase on the desk. Tae Seo enters and says he knew Kang Chi would be there. As he sits, Kang Chi says that he still can’t believe that she’s not there any more. She’s disappeared. Where did she go? Where did she disappear to? He can’t find it or meet her. Tae Seo muses that death might be nothing like what they’ve thought. Kang Chi wonders if she’d still be alive, living with her happy smile, if it weren’t for him. Tae Seo replies that if someone asked him to choose between 100 years alone and 100 days with his loved one, he would choose the 100 days. He adds that Yeo Wool was happier than anyone else because of Kang Chi. Isn’t that enough? They look at the wilted flower. Tae Seo tells Kang Chi to come outside, since everyone is waiting. They stand and Kang Chi is holding a backpack. Another shot of the wilted flower.

Outside, all the students have gathered, along with Gong Dal, Yeo Joo, Ma Reum, Eok Man, and Pyung Joon. Kang Chi goes to stand before Pyung Joon. He surveys all their faces and then bows. He tells Pyung Joon that he is deeply indebted to him for everything. Pyung Joon asks if he’s leaving to look for the Gu Family Book. He says he’s going to stay as he is, until he meets someone he wants to grow old with again.

Gong Dal hobbles forward, handing him a folded up cloth, telling Kang Chi that it’s his special medicine for when he’s not feeling well. As Kang Chi thanks him, Gong Dal slips off his ring and says that it is proof that Kang Chi is his pupil. He slips it on Kang Chi’s thumb.

Ma Reum steps forward and hugs his son. As Kang Chi starts to talk, Ma Reum cuts him off, telling him to just take care of himself. Eok Man adds that Kang Chi needs to stop by some time to visit. Kang Chi says he will. Ma Reum starts to cry, so he steps back.

Kang Chi turns to Pyung Joon. From behind his back, he pulls out Yeo Wool’s sword and holds it out to Kang Chi. He’s to hold onto that sword from now on and not break it in two. Dang, how much am I going to cry?

Song tells Kang Chi to take care of himself. He’s weeping hard. Tae Seo merely says, “See you again.” To which Kang Chi nods and grunts a ‘yes.’ Bowing again, Kang Chi leaves. As he slowly descends the camp’s steps, Gon steps out from behind a bush to watch him go. He softly tells Kang Chi to take care. Kang Chi thinks, “Live well, my friend.” Without stopping, he lifts up Yeo Wool’s sword in salute and walks on.

Gisaeng House. Gob Dan presents Chung Jo with a parcel. She unties the fabric and it’s the jacket she made Kang Chi. Chung Jo mutters a proverb and when Gob Dan doesn’t understand, she explains: The first love helps you grow up; the last love completes you. Kang Chi seems to have a complete heart now.

Chung Jo and Gob Dan arrive at the jail. Chung Jo hands the guard a sack, probably containing money. He nods that she can go in. He and the other guard leave. Kwan Woong sits and his walnut twisting hand is gone, so he’s just sitting there with his bloody stump. Chung Jo approaches and he’s surprised. She enters his cell and presents him with the package she’s carrying. Unwrapping it, it’s biscuits and a teapot. Is she about to serve some wild wine? She tells him that at the end, she thought it was right to serve him a drink. Giving him the cup, she pours and tells him to end his filthy life.

Kwan Woong laughs and asks if she’s having mercy on him. Chung Jo answers that she’s not; she just wanted to end his life herself. He smiles slightly and then drinks. He tells her to keep pouring. As he’s dying, he says that his life was really boring. Tiresome and dull. Really? It wasn’t greed. He just wanted to feel like he was alive. He coughs up come blood and slowly dies a very painful death.

Kang Chi walks down the road. He encounters Soon Shin. They walk together for the last time. Soon Shin says that ever since the events at Century House, they (I’m assuming the royal court) won’t leave him alone for a moment. Kang Chi says he’d do the same. Soon Shin asks where Kang Chi is going to go. Kang Chi doesn’t know; he’s just going to wander. Soon Shin stops and says that there is no right answer for living as a human. But for Kang Chi to become a better person, he needs to put forth his best effort and to not bow to fear. Living well will help Kang Chi become stronger. Soon Shin tells him that of everyone he’s met, Kang Chi is the most complete and warm-hearted.

Kang Chi tells Soon Shin to raise a beacon fire in the North, if something happens and Kang Chi will return to help him. Kang Chi wanted to ask one thing... does Soon Shin think the Gu Family Book really exists. Soon Shin replies that if Kang Chi believes, it probably does. They bow to each other one last time and Kang Chi walks on. Back in Yeo Wool’s room, blue fireflies float and her flower blooms again.

And we fade to present day Seoul, 422 years later. At least it’s not 1,000. A very comfortable apartment. Displayed on a shelf, are Gon’s sword, Gong Dal’s medicine, Tae Seo’s seal and Soo Ryun’s sash. Above them hangs Yeo Wool’s sword. I get emotional as they pan across each of these things. The camera pans to Yeo Wool’s flower, in bloom. The phone on the table rings silently.

Elsewhere in the apartment, Kang Chi is taking a bubble bath, reading a magazine. The doctor in the magazine is Gong Dal, with glasses. The phone keeps ringing (Yoo Yun Suk is calling) as Kang Chi washes his hair, dries it with the hair dryer, gets dressed. They haven’t shown his face yet, but it’s him. He’s still wearing Gong Dal’s ring. He gets dressed and as he grabs a jacket, his old red jacket hangs. So that we know it’s him. Even though they haven’t shown his face.

The phone is ringing again. Finally Kang Chi answers the phone, putting it on speaker. The voice, which sounds a lot like Tae Seo, yells at him for not answering and for not being at the anniversary party that being thrown for him. As the person starts to threaten, Kang Chi hangs up. From the tone Yun Suk is taking, it sounds like they're related. I know they can't be, but Tae Seo was his adopted brother, so why not again? Kang Chi turns to go but stop to look out at the moon. He thinks that it’s the 5221st crescent moon that he’s facing alone.

Someone’s running and bumps someone. A girl, with Yeo Wool’s voice, begs her apology.

Kang Chi stops to look at Yeo Wool’s sword. From behind him, a voice says “President?” Finally Kang Chi turns around, sporting a nice bowl cut. Kang Chi smiles and answers, “Butler Choi.” And it’s Ma Reum. I’m shaking my fists happily and trying hard not to cry. Ma Reum hands Kang Chi some brandy and tells him that the car is ready. It’s a Ferrari. Eok Man is his driver. Kang Chi tells him that he did well, calling him Eok Man. Eok Man sighs and protests that his name is Kim Ki Bang! Kang Chi replies he keeps forgetting, since he’s lived a long time. I guess Eok Man is the door man, which makes more sense. Kang Chi gets in his car and drives off. As Kang Chi leaves, Eok Man mutters that Kang Chi is younger than *he* is.

As we get flashes of the people of Seoul, Kang Chi thinks, “The world changed so quickly. And the life of a human, changed so much.” As Kang Chi drives past the statue of Soon Shin in Gwanghwamun Square, he thinks, “And also the memories of the past.” He smiles as he remembers.

He stops for a light and Tae Seo is calling again. As he picks up the phone, someone runs by. Kang Chi notices her. It looks like Yeo Wool, but he can’t be sure. The car horns from behind him get his attention and he drives on.

Kang Chi arrives at a hotel. A woman calls out, “Save me!” Kang Chi hears but then tells himself he didn’t hear anything and starts to go in. But he hears it again. It’s Yeo Joo, being harassed by four guys. One of which is Bong Chool. And another is his buddy. He’s still a thug, there to try to get the money her brother borrowed from him. She yells at them for coming to her about money her oppa borrowed. Does she look like a pushover? Bong Chool grabs her purse and then complains about how she’s whining when she can afford a fancy purse.

And Kang Chi’s there to help. They’re all here, Kang Chi. That was Yeo Wool. Bong Chool twists himself around to look at the jerk. Kang Chi realizes who he is. He asks, “Ma Bong Chool?” Then he says, “Governess!” He starts to laugh as Bong Chool blusters, cracking up that even when he’s reborn, Bong Chool is still the same. Bong Chool grabs for the purse. Kang Chi tells him to step back at the count of three. He counts, accentuating it with his thumb and fingers, just like the old days. At three, his eyes briefly flash green, and then he quickly takes the four thugs down. He hands the purse back to Yeo Joo, who takes it back with a flirt on her lips.

Suddenly a voice (Yeo Wool) yells, “Freeze!” She orders “you there” to put their hands in the air. She’s a cop! Yes. And Gon’s gonna be her partner!!! Bong Chool puts up his hands, but then yells for his guys to run, grabs the bag and bolts. Yeo Joo chases after them, but when Kang Chi goes to follow, the voice tells him not to move. He sighs and puts up his hands, saying that there’s some sort of misunderstanding. As he turns around, he sees her, slowly walking toward him with her gun drawn. Their theme plays and I try really hard not to cry.

Slowly Kang Chi drops his hands. Yeo Wool repeats for him not to move. He says her name, “Yeo Wool.” She asks him how he knew her name. He's surprised it’s the same. As she lowers her weapon, she asks if he knows her. He thinks, “At the time when I meet you again, I will recognize you first. The time when I meet you again, I will love you first.” She asks again if he knows her and he answers that perhaps he thinks he knows her. Kang Chi looks over Yeo Wool’s shoulder and there’s a peach tree under the crescent moon. Kang Chi thinks, “And my time that had stopped, started to flow again.”

Epilogue. Someone rings Kang Chi’s bell. It’s Gon!!! Looking very studly as he wears his sunglasses *inside.* He pulls out his badge and asks if they can come in. And as an inside joke, his character’s name is Bang Sung Joon (his real name) from the National Security Administration. Kang Chi’s puzzled. The we? Gon’s with Soon Shin.

Thoughts

No!!! Now they have to do a sequel so I can see these characters as their modern counterparts! Gon, aka Bang Sung Joon, and Soon Shin are with the National Security Administration. I’m betting that they’re there to ask Kang Chi for his help dealing with the notorious gangster, Jo Pijo. Pijo’s got ties to the Japanese Yakuza. And Yeo Wool is Gon’s partner. Tae Seo’s going to be Kang Chi’s uptight accountant who Kang Chi treats like a brother. Pyung Joon will be Yeo Joo’s brother and Soo Ryun and Chung Jo will be models or something like that. Please, please, please! Write something like that.

Then I can get all the roommate goodness as Gon gets stuck on a stakeout with Kang Chi. And lots of romance without Pyung Joon mucking things up. Or maybe he will...

Okay, I have to shake myself out of ideas for the sequel…

The final episode. I’m not so mad since I have all these visions of a sequel running through my head. I cried a heck of a lot. And Yeo Wool’s death bothers me less, since they’ve been reunited, finally. I would love, too, if Wol Ryung emerged from his cave and the reincarnation of Seo Hwa showed up, too. So Kang Chi could have his parents back.

I’m not so bothered that Yeo Wool died, even though I was sorely pissed at the beginning of the show. Because Kang Chi’s going to get to be with her. And he’s probably already found the Book, so he can become human.

Chung Jo got her finale with Kwan Woong and I wasn’t sad at all that he lost his hand or died so terribly.

Kang Chi’s goodbyes were sad and I wished we had *seen* Gong Dal and Song one last time, too. Please can there be a sequel? WITHOUT SO JUNG.

All in all. Love this show! Will watch it again. And cry just as hard the second time around. Maybe even more, since I know what’s going to happen before hand.
