Thirty-One.
Ji locks Chae Won in – even though it’s impossible to do *in the front seat.* Again, Chae Won doesn’t immediately get out of the car but asks what Joo Ri’s doing. If she can’t have Sunbae, she can’t let him be stolen by a girl like Chae Won! Joo Ri starts the car and drives off with Chae Won. Without adjusting the seat at all, because her legs are *just* as long as Se Yoon’s are. He runs after the car and gets a taxi. Joo Ri has lost it and Chae Won pleads with her to stop. Car swerving. Se Yoon is calling. He's freaking out. Flashbacks of the accident with Eun Seol probably. Cruel to do that to Se Yoon. Joo Ri answers and he pleads with her to pull over. When he asks Chae Won if she’s okay, Joo Ri totally loses it – because he cares about Chae Won instead of her! Just like last time – and car accident. Se Yoon and the taxi driver rush up to the car. Chae Won’s head is bleeding because the air bags didn’t go off. Even though it's a newish car. Se Yoon pleads with her to open her eyes. He’s totally freaked and I love how that vein bulges in his forehead when he gets really upset. Joo Ri wakes to see Se Yoon pleading with Chae Won and not looking at her. Chae Won opens her eyes and Se Yoon tells her that he’s by her side, so she doesn’t need to worry about anything. He picks her up out of the car and Joo Ri cries.EMIL’s looking for Joo Ri. Chul Kyu doesn’t think anything of Joo Ri being gone. Hong Joo emerges from the kitchen wearing an apron. He asks her if she ate something wrong, because she's acting wifely. She tells them dinner is ready. They’re weirded out. EMIL is complimentary of her cooking. She made a salad. Chul Kyu declares he’s not going to eat her grass! Hong Joo declares that his attitude makes him cute. He rolls his eyes. EMIL gets the call that Joo Ri was in an accident.
Hospital. Joo Ri and Chae Won are sleeping in beds *right next to each other.* EMIL arrives, along with Chul Kyu, and she’s freaking out. He’s worried about his sister until he sees Chae Won. Immediately he rushes to Chae Won’s side. He cries out for a nurse and nurse says that they were in the car together. He starts screaming at her to wake up. She does and immediately he’s tender. She just looks at him and then over at Joo Ri and EMIL. EMIL starts yelling at him for sitting by Chae Won and you can see that Chae Won just wants to be done with the family drama. Joo Ri wakes up. She asks where Sunbae is. EMIL’s annoyed.
Se Yoon arrives. He’s really annoyed. Joo Ri looks at him and he is not in any way forgiving in his look back. Se Yoon just glares at Chul Kyu sitting by Chae Won. Chul Kyu demands to know why he’s there, rushes over and grabs Se Yoon by the lapel. Se Yoon tells Chul Kyu to release him. Chul Kyu’s going to give Se Yoon a beat down. EMIL asks Se Yoon what happened. No answer. The doctor arrives. Doctor reports that Chae Won is minorly injured. Joo Ri fractured her ankle. Doctor leaves. Se Yoon goes and sits by Chae Won and asks if she’s okay. She nods she is. He’s relieved. Chul Kyu asks to speak to him outside. Chae Won doesn’t want him to leave but he does. EMIL starts to scream at Chae Won. Chae Won tells her to ask Joo Ri what happened. EMIL’s ugly and Joo Ri starts to cry. Where is Oma?!
Outside Se Yoon’s filled in Chul Kyu about what Joo Ri did. I want to know where the police are. Joo Ri should at least get arrested and have to offer a big settlement to Chae Won to avoid going to jail. Se Yoon tries to take his leave, but Chul Kyu wants to know why his Chae Won was in Se Yoon’s car in the first place. Se Yoon points it out and says that it’s a little offensive. Se Yoon tells Chae Won that he’s got *no* relationship with Chae Won now so please avoid saying such things. Chul Kyu can’t believe it, especially since Chae Won isn’t Se Yoon’s woman. Se Yoon replies that a while later she might be. Chul Kyu cleans out his ear and tells Se Yoon to repeat himself. Se Yoon declares that he *loves* Min Chae Won. Dang! I didn’t expect that!!! I guess that car accident gave him a bit of clarity.
Se Yoon declares that he’s going to make Chae Won his woman. Chul Kyu grabs Se Yoon’s lapel but Se Yoon shoves it off, telling him to stop being so cocky! Especially since he’s *married.* He tells Chul Kyu to not get in the way of their relationship. Chul Kyu grabs the lapel and Se Yoon grabs his wrist and the strength of Se Yoon’s grip makes Chul Kyu let go. Se Yoon declares that from now on, he’ll look after Chae Won. If he sees Chul Kyu around Chae Won again, he won’t leave Chul Kyu alone. Se Yoon walks back inside. Chul Kyu tells him to stop but then trips over the curb and falls flat on his face. I laugh hard. I guess I’m a little giddy at his declaration.
Noodle House. Appa comes back from the bus stop without Chae Won, who’s also not answering the phone. Oma knows something’s wrong. Phone rings. It’s Chae Won letting them know she’s in the hospital. Maybe Se Yoon called them.
Chae Won’s asleep. Se Yoon pushes some hair away from his face as he looks on, upset. Joo Ri’s not there any more. Chae Won wakes up. She asks about Joo Ri. Appa and Oma arrive. He did call them. Appa notices the handsome, strapping young man at her bedside. Se Yoon tells him that the doctors said Chae Won will be fine so they don’t have to worry. Oma and Se Yoon are reintroduced. Oma says that she’s Chae Won’s mom. Se Yoon’s confused. Oma explains that they met on the plane from the States. She declares that this can’t be just a coincidence. Se Yoon is amazed. She tells Se Yoon that she recently married Appa. Se Yoon gets it now. She asks him if he’s the guy who was engaged to Joo Ri. Chae Won stops her with an 'Oma.' Awkward shifting from Se Yoon and Appa isn’t sure what to think.
EMIL and family. I really don’t care that Joo Ri’s upset or Chul Kyu’s pacing because of what Se Yoon said. Joo Ri throws a fit. EMIL yells at Chul Kyu pacing. He decides that *this* is really bad and runs out.
Downstairs he comes across Appa and Oma. He addresses Appa as FIL and Appa asks who this guy is addressing him as FIL. Chul Kyu repeats it and Appa barks out that he’s *not* Chul Kyu’s FIL since they are divorced! Oma just glares. Appa demands to know why he’s there. Chul Kyu’s surprised that Chae Won didn’t mention being admitted with Joo Ri. Chae Won interrupts him to ask to go. And where’s Se Yoon? He promised not to sit still if Chul Kyu appeared in front of Chae Won again. I want to see that. Oma agrees and they go, but not before Oma tsks at him and says that he looks so normal. As they walk away, Se Yoon’s brought the prescriptions. Appa and Oma like him. Chul Kyu hates that! They all leave together. Chul Kyu declares that he can’t leave it alone.
Se Yoon goes home. Mom wants to know where he went since Se Yoon’s secretary said that he got off work early. He just replies that he’s not a grade school student. Mom can’t believe he’s being so calm when she and Dad have been getting tons of calls regarding the broken engagement. He apologizes. Dad arrives and asks him if apologizing really solves everything? Was he always so irresponsible?! Se Yoon replies that he didn’t want to continue to be irresponsible. That’s why he broke the engagement. He tells them that as soon as his personal affairs are in order, he’ll let them know. Mom tells Dad to calm down, but she also looks concerned.
Chae Won’s home. Appa wants to know how the accident happened but they’re interrupted by the siblings. Appa groans at the hassle. He asks Oma if they have to really participate in the contest. She tells him to be strong. Appa nods and leaves. Oma asks Chae Won if the guy from the hospital is Joo Ri’s ex. And the accident was related to that, too. Chae Won only nods.
The Uncles tell Appa to throw the contest. Be half-hearted. Appa wants to know what they’re planning on doing with the money. YUncle wants to roll in it. EUncle imagines being fawned over by the bank. Appa remarks that their plans are kind of lame.
Opera Man’s thinking about Auntie. And he’s thrown out his back when he lifted her. He tells himself to think like his age! Auntie arrives and he pretends to be asleep. She kisses him on the cheek and says that meeting him *again* is a better surprise than winning all the money.
Chae Won’s lying in bed. Her phone chimes. Se Yoon wants to know how she feels. He was concerned that she was in pain so he couldn’t sleep. She just replies that she’s OK. Se Yoon’s kind of annoyed that it’s so short. Chul Kyu’s drinking now thinking about Se Yoon’s declaration. Hong Joo arrives and takes away the bottle. He jumps on the table and begs his wife to save him. He wants her to decide to leave him and go home. And there goes her good mood. She tells him she won’t because she’s started to like him. He yells and grabs his hair, but she’s not phased.
Chae Won’s about to go to work. Oma wants her to rest. You *were* just in a car accident. But Chae Won declares she’s fine. Se Yoon arrives to give her a ride to work. He’s wearing a contented smile as he greets them. Chae Won’s a little uncomfortable but Oma’s great and thanks Se Yoon for being so thoughtful. Oma invites him over for dinner and he says that he’ll come over for a formal dinner. Which means that he's serious!
In the car. Se Yoon asks if Chae Won needs to stop by the hospital. She says she’s fine, a little annoyed. She asks about Joo Ri. Se Yoon says that he spoke with the nurse and Joo Ri’s calmer. They end up stopping suddenly and Se Yoon reaches out his arm to protect her. And since he’s touching her chest to do it, Chae Won’s a little uncomfortable. He’s also a little uncomfortable and tries to blame the stop on his own car being in the shop.
Chul Kyu has no job so he can hover outside the company. He sees Chae Won and Se Yoon arrive together. Chae Won’s now in her office and Chul Kyu just bursts in. He demands to know why she lied. She said there was nothing between them! She’s stabbed him in the back. She tells him again that *they are strangers.* He asks her if she loves Se Yoon and she says, ‘yes,’ but it seems more just to get him out of her face. He asks then that she was sneaking around behind his back. She asks why she would have to hide? For the last time, he’s going to ask her… Are they… getting married? She says that it’s none of his business and he should worry about his own family. He concludes she must have already agreed since she’s not answering. She replies that it’s not his business and she’s so sick of being kicked around by his family! He declares that he won’t appear in front of her any more. She tells him that’s what she’s been begging him to do! She leaves her office.
Joo Ri crying. And Mom visits. She heard from the company that Joo Ri was in an accident. EMIL can’t believe that Se Yoon didn’t tell Mom about the accident! I see spin coming!
Oma’s brought Oeharabeoji some herbal medicine. The aunties arrive and Oehalmeoni scolds them for just thinking about the money and not noticing Oeharabeoji was sick!
Leaving the hospital, Mom’s getting in her car. EMIL’s told her that Chae Won is to blame for Joo Ri’s extreme action! EMIL warns Mom to be on her guard because Se Yoon has almost fallen for that gumiho! Mom sighs. And then she sees Oma. Mom hurries out of the car and rushes inside, but Oma is gone. And where has Oma gone? To visit EMIL and Joo Ri. She gives them her last warning. If they bother Chae Won again, Oma’s not going to stand for it! EMIL’s all cocky and asks Oma what she’s going to do. Oma declares that she’s been through a lot and she’s not intimidated when it comes to her daughter. EMIL snarks that Oma didn’t give birth to Chae Won. Oma replies that Chae Won’s just as if it’s her own daughter. EMIL waves her arms and tells Oma to leave. Oma speaks directly to Agasshi (Joo Ri) and repeats the warning. Oma happens to mention a young man gave her daughter a ride to work that morning. She tells Joo Ri that she shouldn’t hold onto a departed bus or a departed man. EMIL gets all huffy. Oma declares that if it were up to her, she’d report them to the police. I’d do it anyway. But Chae Won stopped her from doing it. Because, as Se Yoon said, she’s a fool during times like these. Oma tells EMIL to keep her daughter in line. And her son, too!
Chae Won’s at work. Thinking. The phone rings. Something urgent came up with the Premium Market contract and she needs to meet Se Yoon downstairs. Once she’s there, he declares it a nice day and tells her that they should play hooky. She can’t believe his suggestion. He teases her and then tells her that he thought she might have a lot on her mind, so they should go for a walk. They play hooky and the cherry blossoms are out. He asks her if she’s not curious about what he was going to say the night before (that was so urgent he had to say it then). He reminds her that she told him he could return to who he was in the past. He tells her that her words gave him courage and he would like to start again, but he doesn’t have enough confidence to do it on his own. He needs her. He tells her for the past 3 years, he was entangled in grief but since he met her, little by little, that he’s started changing. The more he knew her, the more he wanted to know her. Because of her, he was able to slowly let go of Eun Seol.
Chae Won starts to argue, but Se Yoon takes her left hand in his and tells her he needs her. And he wants to become someone she needs too. She takes back her hand and tells him she’s not ready to love someone else. He replies he’s not in a rush. He says he’ll wait for her, until her heart is ready, without any pressure. If it takes a year or ten, he’ll wait. She immediately blurts that he shouldn’t wait. Which makes sense since the waiting is what got Joo Ri obsessed. She says that she can’t be the person worthy of him waiting for. What? Why? And thank you. Se Yoon asks her how she could say such a *dumb* thing. She tells him that the last 3 years made her a dummy and she doesn’t want to go someplace where the ending is so obvious. What does that mean? That it would fail? She apologizes and walks away as the cherry blossoms fall.
Mom’s sure she saw Oma. She has the driver take her to Paju. She visits the café and the new owner has no idea what happened to Oma. Mom runs into EAIL. They renew their friendship, sort of. Mom excuses herself and narrowly misses Oma. Oma and EAIL declare they don’t like each other.
Noodle House. Opera Man has brought Auntie flowers… Because it’s springtime. Oehalmeoni arrives and tells Auntie to go to the hairdresser since she’s gotten Auntie an awesome blind date. Neither Auntie nor Opera Man are happy at this news. Think deflated tire. Opera Man has to even encourage Auntie to go. She’s hurt by this.
Chul Kyu packs a bag and leaves his wedding ring. He also takes Hong Joo’s sleeping pills with him He runs into Hong Joo and cryptically apologizes for everything. Then he just goes. Hong Joo calls EMIL who freaks out. EMIL calls Chae Won. Who answers the phone. It’s called VOICE MAIL. EMIL declares that Chul Kyu’s left home with sleeping pills to kill himself. Chul Kyu calls her and starts to cry. He declares he’s going to kill himself. She begs him to tell her where he is. And of course she goes without telling anyone where she’s going.
Chae Won gets there and Chul Kyu’s got all the pills poured into his hand. He tells her he has no will to live. She keeps begging him. They start fighting over the pills. ‘Room Service’ arrives and it’s Hong Joo and TSGMom with the police. The police arrest Chul Kyu and Chae Won for committing ADULTERY. Really? That’s a thing? In Korea?
Thirty Two.
Chae Won rushes to the hotel to stop Chul Kyu from killing himself. They fight over the pills and the police burst in with Hong Joo and TSGMom AND A PHOTOGRAPHER to arrest them for ADULTERY. And all I have to say is, it’s really hard to get romantic while wearing a purse. Chae Won protests that she’s there because Chul Kyu called her and told her he was going to commit suicide. Chul Kyu’s not saying anything. But then he asks the detective if he’d have to automatically get divorced if they charge him with adultery. When the detective replies in the affirmative, Chul Kyu ‘confesses.’ Chae Won can’t believe him, but he’s almost giddy. Hong Joo realizes that Chul Kyu’s enjoying himself. TSGMom tells her to get the sheets and everything and Hong Joo tells her that she thinks their hunch was *wrong.*Mom and Dad are out at a nice couples dinner. Random man asks about Dad’s health. Then Wife asks about the rumor that Se Yoon is dating a divorcee who works there. Mom scoffs and says that after *postponing* the engagement, there’s been tons of rumors flying. Wife is relieved to know that the engagement was only postponed. Dad looks at Mom like he can’t believe she just lied. She excuses herself to go to the bathroom.
EMIL arrives and makes a scene. Here comes Chul Kyu and Chae Won getting arrested for adultery. EMIL protests that Chae Won was there because Chul Kyu threatened to kill himself! Police say they’ll sort it out at the station. EMIL starts screaming at Hong Joo. TSGMom tells her to stop screaming and huffs off. And the only thing that Mom focused on is the charge of adultery, not EMIL saying it wasn’t true. Mom declares that that smelly tramp won’t get her son!
Police Station. Chae Won’s furious. Chul Kyu’s agreeing with whatever the complaint says. Chae Won on the other hand is trying to tell the police that he’s lying.
Se Yoon’s parents return home. When Se Yoon asks why so early, Dad declares it’s because they can’t even lift their heads, out of shame. Dad walks off. Se Yoon asks what happened. Mom says that their dinner mates mentioned the rumors. How long is he going to continue disappointing them?! Out of all the girls, there’s rumors about him and that trash! He replies that Chae Won is a good woman. Mom spits back that a good woman *wouldn’t* get arrested for adultery! That got Se Yoon’s attention.
Chae Won and Chul Kyu have been released. Chul Kyu tells her that it’s better this way. She slaps him and yells that he made a criminal out of an innocent person! She calls him a horrible, incorrigible person! She tells him she should have just let him kill himself! She screams that he should *never* say her name again! She declares that she can *never* forgive him! She tries to leave. He begs and then her grabs her and starts hugging her. Se Yoon arrives, grabs him and punches him hard. Chul Kyu falls backward. Se Yoon puts his arm around Chae Won and asks her if she’s okay. And he stands there holding her. He tells Chul Kyu that if Chul Kyu does it again, he won’t let it go! Chul Kyu tries to grab Se Yoon again, but Se Yoon twists Chul Kyu’s arm behind his back. Se Yoon gives him one last warning and tells Chul Kyu not to test his patience any longer! He shoves Chul Kyu to the floor and they leave.
Hong Joo appears and says that she didn’t realize he was such a big softie. Chul Kyu asks how long she’d been having him followed. Since not long after the wedding. He tells her to divorce him but she’s decided that she can’t let him go.
Chae Won’s trying not to cry as they drive. Take her down to the river, dude. She tells him that she thinks she’s pathetic and she shouldn’t have gone. He tells her that Chae Won is not a fool and it’s too bad that some people want to abuse her good nature. She asks him how he knew to come. He replies that he’s Class President Lee and if she has a problem, he’ll come running. Then he admits that Mom saw the scene at the hotel. He tells her that if she’s trying to repair her image with Mom, she needs to work a little harder, because so far she’s only shown Mom shocking scenes. He says that he talked with the company’s attorney and even with Chul Kyu’s insistence, they won’t be able to establish guilt, so she can feel at ease.
Noodle House. She tells him thank you. He replies that she’ll need to be thanking him tomorrow and the next day, too, because from now on, he’s going to be protecting her. She reminds him that she said that she doesn’t have any desire to get closer to him. He clucks that he didn’t know she was that fickle. Just a little ago she was crying is his car, now she’s playing a different tune. Oma comes out to meet them. She’s happy to see Se Yoon and thinks they were on a date. Chae Won protests that it wasn’t a date while Se Yoon smiles but Oma tells her it’s okay. Oma invites him in for tea. He says that although it’s kind of late… He’ll accept! Chae Won protests, but Oma just rolls her eyes and tells the girl to come inside.
Se Yoon’s facing the elders. He does a formal greeting. Chae Won comes in and asks him what he’s doing. He replies that it’s obvious to bow in front of elders. Appa approves of Se Yoon. Oehalmeoni compliments on his manners. And he’s handsome! Oeharabeoji asks if Se Yoon works with Chae Won and Oehalmeoni asks if he works in the cafeteria with her. EUncle shushes her and declares that Se Yoon is in a very high position at the company: the son of the chairman! Appa realizes whose son this is and Oehalmeoni asks how they came to know each other. Se Yoon says that since Chae Won is kind-hearted and pretty, he first offered to be friends.
Chae Won is dying at how charming he’s being. YUncle tells her to be quiet. YUncle asks about him being married? Se Yoon says not yet. YUncle asks if he’s dating anyone. Se Yoon looks at Chae Won as he says that he has a person he likes, so he’s working on it. Chae Won wants them to go now and gets scolded by the grandparents. And Appa looks a little uncomfortable that he might be losing his little girl.
In the kitchen, Oma and the AILs are making food. EAIL wonders whose son Se Yoon is. YAIL replies that it’s Mom. Mom can’t believe her ears. She clarifies that EAIL is meaning the Chairman’s wife. YAIL says that Chae Won’s hit the jackpot, but EAIL tells her not to count her chickens, because YAIL has no idea what kind of bitch Mom is. Oma doesn’t like EAIL calling her Unni a bitch. EAIL declares that EMIL is a saint compared to how over-protective Mom is when it comes to her son. Oma thinks that he’s perfect for Chae Won. Why does he have to be Unni’s son? EAIL asks how Oma knows Mom. Oma says they were friends at the orphanage.
Chae Won and Se Yoon say good night. He says he thinks he passed the test. Oeharabeoji and Oehalmeoni liked him (he uses those terms) and Omeoni liked him. She asks him if he’s ignoring her right now. She never said she would date him! She says that it feels like he’s ignoring her which makes feel bad. He tells her that he wanted her to totally understand his feelings. He’s sorry she feels like that. He never tried to ignore her. She says that they would never work so they shouldn’t even start. He asks her how she *knows* that. She tells him she definitely knows one thing: she has no intention of becoming Cinderella and he needs to meet a woman who suits him. He declares that out of all the women in the world, the person who suits him most is her. And I would be melting a little bit at this point. All in Se Yoon is really, really attractive and not just appealing to the eye.
Almost scolding – and I love when he talks like this because it’s scolding but in a totally non-judging sort of way – he asks her what she wants to keep seeing him for. He’s seeing her right now but does she still want to see him? Does she like him that much? She asks him when he started being like this; he’s being strange and it doesn’t’ suit him. He replies that he has to be the first one to take at least a half step forward. And she’ll follow is what he’s thinking. Which is why he’s doing all this even though it embarrasses him – you’d never know that – and it doesn’t suit him. He smiles that smile and says that he’s going.
Oma’s doing dishes and muttering why Se Yoon has to be Unni’s son because it makes things more complicated! Appa enters and he’s a little burdened because of this development. Appa says that Se Yoon just doesn’t suit their Chae Won. Based on what? He’s rich? Appa is definitely worried about an EMIL repeat, which Chae Won overhears. And this makes Chae Won sad.
Auntie’s thinking about Opera Man telling her to go on the date. She’s not happy. Oehalmeoni and YAIL come in to encourage her about the date tomorrow. Auntie *doesn’t* want to go! Oehalmeoni comes up with plenty of reasons why the man’s a good prospect and Auntie shoots down all of them. YAIL asks Auntie if there’s someone she likes already. Auntie protests and Oehalmeoni thinks it’s crazy because Auntie *would have brought him home* already. Hmmm…. Opera Man’s drowning his sorrows and whining about being born 20 years too early.
Se Yoon arrives home. Mom is upset and asks where he’s been. He says he met Chae Won. She asks if he’s crazy! She was arrested for adultery! He declares it was a misunderstanding. She asks how that’s possible, since she saw it herself! She asks him if he wants to go back to the hell they went through 3 years ago. He replies that she promised, if he met someone new, she would approve of it. Mom declares that she cannot accept a divorced woman. He wants to argue but she cuts him off with an ‘it’s late!’ and walks away. Se Yoon is not happy.
Chae Won’s thinking about Se Yoon and the latest rescue, he look of concern. She shakes her head and declares that she can’t do it! She tells herself to get a grip.
Next morning Chul Kyu wakes up. Next to his *wife*. Did they get intimate? He screams and jumps out of bed, which of course, wakes her. He asks why she’s there since they’re divorced. Hong Joo says that she over-reacted and she’s sorry. He can’t believe that she’s being this way. She tells him that she just thought he was a Mama’s boy, but yesterday she realized that he’s pure-hearted. And this will be some interesting logic. She declares that he’s the person she can trust most. Chul Kyu groans and Hong Joo declares that Chae Won isn’t coming back to him. She’s completely forgotten about him, so he needs to come back to his senses.
Joo Ri in the hospital. And I don’t care.
The next day, Se Yoon goes to Chae Won’s office, but she’s not there. He notices a prospectus on her desk entitled, “Premium Noodle for the Premium Market.”
YAIL comes in because Auntie’s still in bed. Auntie’s moping. YAIL asks her about that man, again. To refute the question, Auntie declares that she’ll go! Bo Reum arrives with two of his friends. Oma’s going to make them some food. Friend1 asks Friend2 which parent he’s going to live with if the boys’ parents get divorced. And I see it coming now. I was wondering when that was coming out. Bo Reum tells his friend that he doesn’t need to think so hard. After all, Bo Reum’s parents got divorced last year and they’re still living together. And sleeping together, too.
YAIL comes in and Oma declares YAIL’s been caught! When YAIL asks in what? Oma tells her she knows about the divorce from last year. YAIL wants to know how she found out. Oma can’t believe that they’ve been lying so they can compete in the contest. Oma declares that they’re not eligible to be in the contest! YAIL starts to beg, complete with hand rubbing. EAIL arrives and Oma doesn’t say anything.
Auntie goes to see Opera Man and asks him if she should go on the date. Which is why I like her. She knows her mind and doesn’t play games. He tells her the guy sounds like a good match so she should go. Which ticks Auntie off because he should be telling her not to, if he liked her, of course. Auntie declares that she will go and if she likes him, she’ll get married in the following month! So he better prepare a serenade for her wedding! She stomps out. And Opera Man is upset because she asked for that!
Chul Kyu’s at work, grumbling about Se Yoon, when EMIL and Hong Joo arrive. Hong Joo’s just come back from the police station, where she’s cleared up the adultery issue. He declares that he can’t live with a woman who turned him into the police. EMIL’s all affectionate to Hong Joo.
And now Mom goes to visit Chae Won in her office. Keep the desk between the two of you. Mom wants to talk. Chae Won offers tea. Mom’s not even polite about accepting it. Mom gets to the point: now’s the same as three years ago: the woman Se Yoon loves: she doesn’t like her at all. But, it caused them to fight until they were bloody so all that’s left is an irreversible scar of the heart. Mom says that the scars were almost healed, but then Chae Won appeared. And even Eun Seol was better that who Chae Won is. Mom declares that even if heaven breaks into 12 pieces, their relationship’s going to be impossible, so Chae Won should stop wasting her energy. Chae Won should just quit now. Mom warns that if Chae Won ignores her warning, the pain that will come later, well… hasn’t Chae Won already gone through that once with Chul Kyu to know what comes next? Chae Won looks at Mom, really alarmed.
Mom says she’s leaving. Chae Won tries to say something, but Mom says that the Director of Human Resources will be coming by. She should have an agreeable conversation with the man, if Chae Won gets the meaning of Mom’s words. Chae Won tells her that she understands completely.
A woman is standing outside the noodle factory, holding a sepia photo with someone that looks like Oehalmeoni. She declares that this is the place. The woman fondly fingers the drying noodles and looks like she wants to cry. Oeharabeoji comes out and asks if she’s there to buy some noodles. She holds out the picture and asks if he remembers the person in it. He says it looks like their old housekeeper. The woman readily agrees and says that she’s the daughter, Myung Sun. He's happy to see her. And this lady looks like she could be related to Oma. So is Oehalmeoni. Myung Sun can’t believe Oehalmeoni remembers her. So why is she there?
So this is Myung Soo’s first trip back after being given up for adoption. She resented her mother terribly. She recently came across the picture and remembered their noodles and then she missed her mother. Oeharabeoji asks if she was able to see her mother, but Myung Soo was too late and her mother had already passed. So now Myung Soo is honoring her mother’s memory. Oehalmeoni tells Myung Soo that her mother didn’t give her up because she hated her daughter, but because she wanted Myung Soo to be successful and not go hungry. Oeharabeoji wants Myung Soo to come again before she goes so he can make her a meal. And then Oeharabeoji gives the next contest: making noodles like Myung Soo’s mother used to feed her.
Chae Won is sadly looking at her letter of resignation. Since Mom basically said to do it or she’ll regret it. Se Yoon enters and Chae Won quickly hides it. He announces he has good news: the company lawyer just came back from the police and yesterday’s incident report will be withdrawn. She says that it’s good and he can’t believe that she’s so bland in her response. He says he was so excited to give her the good news that he took the stairs because he didn’t want to wait for an elevator. She thanks him and he wants her to feed him if she’s really thankful. He had to skip eating because of a meeting and he’s really hungry. And he looks super charming with that smile.
Chae Won brings Se Yoon a really colorful meal and tells him that she thought the variety of colors could help him imagine different tastes. He smiles at her and thanks her, because he thought he had to carry his burden alone for the rest of his life. He feels much lighter because of her. She sadly smiles. He tells her he’ll be finished in about 30 minutes, so can she wait for him? He’ll treat her to desert. She agrees.
Chul Kyu’s at the police station, begging the police man to thrown him in jail.
Appa gets Oma to now call him Yeobo. YAIL comes out with a refreshing drink for her hyungnim that worked so hard. Appa thinks that’s weird and Oma says it’s because she knows YAIL’s weakness. YUncle is making Bo Reum sit on his knees with his arms in the air to punish him for spilling the beans which YUncle lectures him. EUncle and family are trying to figure out the puzzle. And the son’s shirt has an inflatable collar that looks like a floatation device. The phone rings: it’s the blind-date mom. Oehalmeoni finds out that Auntie didn’t show up for her blind date. Opera Man is in a really bad mood because Auntie’s on the blind date, so much he can’t eat. And he can always eat. Auntie shows up really drunk. He tries to get her to go home but she declares she’s sleeping there. She starts taking off her jacket and then unbuttoning her shirt. Opera Man quickly goes and grabs some bedding for her, which he covers her up with and then prays not to fall into temptation! Complete with rosary.
The family’s wondering what happened with Auntie’s date. Oma gets a call from Evergreens Orphanage. The director’s about to pass away, so they called to ask her to come. They called Mom, too. Mom’s not going to go and declares that instead of feeling sad, she feels more free.
Chae Won has packed up her stuff. She says goodbye to her office and her memories of her times with Se Yoon. She leaves the resignation letter. Se Yoon arrives to a dark office, announcing that they should go home. He sees the letter and is not happy. As he’s driving, he thinks of all that they’ve been through. And I realize that as he’s come more alive and more in love with her, his hair has progressively gotten spikier. He finds her as she gets off the bus. Without the box. Where did the box go? He walks up and asks who she is to submit something like that? She tells him she already talked to the Director of Human Resources. His response? He rips up the resignation and throws it on the ground. And then he kisses her. And they embrace.
Oma’s gone to visit the orphanage director. Who is a nun. Oma tells her that she’s the one that the Director was always scolding. The other nuns mention the dementia. And Mom arrives. Mom’s shocked that Oma hasn’t gone back to the States. When Director sees Mom, Director orders her out of the house immediately. She says that *God’s* children live there and a thief like Mom shouldn’t be there. And did I call it or what? She stole Choon Hee’s baby. So Chae Won is now dating her adopted mother’s son. At least Chae Won doesn’t have to worry about going to live with her mother-in-law or whether her mother-in-law will like her… Mom just looks at Director like a caged animal.
