Twenty Three.
After Se Yoon says his bit, he walks away and Joo Ri is happy. Chae Won wonders who sent the basket and realizes that it was Joo Ri who did it. Joo Ri arrives to gloat. Chae Won asks how she could do it and Joo Ri replies that it’s because she wants him and she’ll stop at nothing to have Se Yoon. Joo Ri tells her to disappear from Se Yoon’s sight. Chae Won tells her to do whatever, but she’s not going to take it. She leaves and goes to her office, where she dumps the basket in the trash. And as the owner of the website, she can delete the fake post. She tries calling Se Yoon to explain, but gets his voicemail. She leaves a message, explaining, even adding that Joo Ri is her exSIL and Chul Kyu’s sister. But then she stops herself and decides to just give it up.Joo Ri goes to visit Se Yoon. She’s feeling out how upset he is. Se Yoon asks her again what she’s hiding. She still won’t tell. EMIL calls him and asks to meet. Joo Ri freaks. EMIL tells her that she’s going to rebuild her image with Se Yoon.
At the coffee shop, Se Yoon is polite but not friendly. She tells him that she needs to ask him for a favor: to take care of Chae Won. EMIL starts to spin. She tells him that since Chul Kyu got married, she’s been worried about Chae Won. She even cries. Which is why she was so obnoxious before this, because she was *worried.* EMIL asks when they’re getting married and Se Yoon replies that they’re not in that type of relationship. He, of course, wonders where EMIL got that idea.
Appa decides to go buy a ring for Choon Hee. He’s caught by Oehalmeoni. He sputters that he’s looking for a ring for *her.* Choon Hee gets ticked that he doesn’t stand up to Oehalmeoni.
Se Yoon and Chae Won meet waiting for an elevator. No one says anything. She decides to take the stairs, a little sad.
Joo Ri goes to meet with EMIL. EMIL’s confident that she changed Se Yoon’s opinion of her. Hong Joo meets EMIL at her office and EMIL wants to take her to see the OBGYN. Hong Joo declares that she’s not going to have any kids. EMIL throws a fit and Hong Joo leaves when Chul Kyu shows up. Chul Kyu chases after her. She tells Chul Kyu that she doesn’t want to have children because she’s dirty because she’s the result of an affair. She starts to cry and Chul Kyu comforts her.
Weirdness between Auntie and Opera Man, but only on his part. She tells him it’s no big deal. He can’t believe she’s okay with things. As Opera Man is leading his class, he starts to think about what happened and starts to cry. Later, he's stopped crying and she asks him why he was crying. He starts to explain himself again. She replies that she’s fine. He asks how she could be since she slept in the same room as a man. She tells him he’s not a man but a grandpa. She starts to laugh about the thought of him as a man. He's completely upset that she sees him as a Grandpa.
Appa is meditating. The siblings arrive at his request. He tells them that he’s planning on remarrying. They’re even more surprised that it’s Choon Hee. Because they’re objecting to the marriage, he announces that he and Chae Won will join the competition and win! The siblings call a timeout and decide to support the marriage to keep Appa out of the competition.
Joo Ri stops by Se Yoon’s, in a good mood. She’s brought him some food. Chae Won’s also working and thinks about what Se Yoon said. She’s upset that he didn’t even try to hear her side. Chae Won tries to convince herself that she’s okay with Se Yoon rejecting her.
EMIL goes looking for Hong Joo in Chul Kyu’s bedroom. Coco is on the bed in a pen. Hong Joo arrives to find EMIL riffling through their drawers. EMIL tries to spin, Hong Joo threatens her with calling the police. When EMIL gets upset, Hong Joo starts screaming horribly. Mrs. Park and Chul Kyu rush in. Mrs. Park kicks them out of the room and Chul Kyu is ticked at EMIL for causing problems.
Chae Won’s leaving work and comes across Joo Ri with Se Yoon. Chae Won and Se Yoon are cold and Joo Ri is happy. Se Yoon and Joo Ri leave as SYMom arrives. She’s brought Se Yoon food. She calls him and when he finds out he’s out with Joo Ri, she jumps off the phone. Unfortunately, she comes across Chae Won. This time SYMom gets Chae Won’s name and job. Chae Won apologizes again for earlier, but SYMom tells her that she should apologize instead for how she treats people. SYMom walks off, leaving a confused Chae Won.
Appa’s gone all out with the flowers and candles to propose to Choon Hee. She cries and accepts his proposal. They almost kiss but are interrupted by Opera Man. He tells at them for not fixing him up with a good woman. Family hijinks.
Chul Kyu calls Chae Won and she tells him he’s crazy. Chae Won tells him to hang up and Chul Kyu cries as he misses her. She tells him to snap out of it. She tries to get off the phone but Chul Kyu keeps trying to talk to her so she hangs up on him. Chul Kyu screams in frustration. Chae Won just sighs. Appa walks up with his fiancée. The three do their Fighting chant and go into the house together.
Everyone’s about to turn in when they arrive. Oehalmeoni is in shock. Choon Hee is polite and respectful and the siblings start to stick up for Choon Hee. Appa and Choon Hee get on their knees and Appa asks for their blessing to get married. Oehalmeoni calls Choon Hee a gumiho and tries to beat her. Appa steps in Oehalmeoni’s path and Oeharabeoji orders her to cut it out!
EMIL asks Mrs. Park about Hong Joo being unstable. Mrs. Park is not helpful.
Se Yoon and Joo Ri are out. Joo Ri’s now drunk. She asks him if he would hate her if she turned out to be the daughter of a criminal or murderer. He tells her he’d treat her the same. She makes him promise not to take it back, to never change his mind. He's worried about why she’s acting so strange. He asks her what she’s hiding. She starts to cry but doesn’t confess. She passes out.
Se Yoon decides to take her home and realizes that he doesn’t know her address. EMIL calls and Se Yoon answers the phone. He doesn’t recognize EMIL’s voice. And he doesn’t recognize the address either. He leaves without seeing EMIL. Chul Kyu arrives home. As he’s driving away, he realizes *it’s the same address as Chae Won’s in-laws.* He returns to see Joo Ri with EMIL and Chul Kyu and realizes that Joo Ri’s oppa is Chul Kyu.
Twenty Four.
Se Yoon comes back to see EMIL and Chul Kyu with a drunk Joo Ri. He realizes that Chul Kyu is Joo Ri’s oppa. He remember how Joo Ri lied about knowing Chae Won and Chae Won not saying anything. Chul Kyu and EMIL put Joo Ri to bed and he asks EMIL to be nice to Hong Joo again. She’s mad that he’s coming home late and didn’t call. He replies that they told him she was sleeping. She tells him they should move out. Chul Kyu laughs over that. Se Yoon arrives home. Mom and Dad are waiting for him. Mom mentions running into Joo Ri’s exSIL. Se Yoon calls Chae Won by name and Mom confirms it. Dad’s met Chae Won, too, and has a favorable opinion. Mom can’t believe it, based on half of the exchange where Chae Won demanded 5 million won. Se Yoon tells his mother that Chae Won isn’t that type of person. She can’t believe he would disagree.Chae Won brings Oehalmeoni some water; Oehalmeoni is still upset. Oeharabeoji tells her that she’s talking too much and then he tells Appa that he agrees with what Appa’s done 100%. Oehalmeoni is upset because she considers Appa her own son. Choon Hee just has to sit there and listen the Oehalmeoni cry. Oeharabeoji tells the pair to get going and Oehalmeoni gives Choon Hee the stink eye. Out in the living room, the siblings are all nice to Choon Hee (except for EAIL). And it kills me that YUncle and YAIL act like they’re still married. EAIL wants to talk to Choon Hee, just the girls. They’re pushy and Choon Hee sticks up for herself. EAIL demands Choon Hee provide them with a marriage certificate. In response Choon Hee tells them it’s none of their business and that they should mind their own business. Choon Hee and Appa walk out with Chae Won. Chae Won calls Choon Hee Future Oma. Choon Hee is completely moved at the prospect of having a daughter and promises to do her best.
Grandparents face the reality that Appa will not be their son-in-law again. Until you find out that Choon Hee is your long-lost niece or something. Chae Won is sitting up, thinking about Se Yoon with Joo Ri. It makes her sad, but she tries to snap herself out of it. Se Yoon is also sitting up, thinking, about what he knows to be true and what looks to be true. He can’t believe that Chae Won would ask EMIL for money and wonders what her true face is.
Joo Ri is finding out that Se Yoon dropped her off the night before. EMIL’s sure that Se Yoon’s still none the wiser. Joo Ri says that she’s really given it to Chae Won, but won’t tell EMIL what. Breakfast table and Hong Joo shows up with Coco. EMIL tries to play nice and apologizes for going through her stuff. Chul Kyu tries to lighten the mood. Mrs., Park brings Hong Joo some cereal. EMIL reminds them of dead Dad’s memorial that night. Hong Joo isn’t sure that she can make it because she’s attending a college reunion. Everyone is offended that she would be so disrespectful. Hong Joo doesn’t see the big deal, since she never met the guy, but Chul Kyu is ticked and demands to speak with her in the other room. He asks her if she’s acting crazy on purpose and if she learned this behavior from her family. She spits back that being a bastard made her that way! I have a feeling that she’s going to be yelling about that a lot. And poor Coco has to sit through the screaming.
Chae Won is inspecting the daily produce delivery when Se Yoon arrives and sees her. Joo Ri, of course, arrives to distract him. She mentions him dropping her off and acts embarrassed. He starts to bring up the whole related-to-Chae Won when Joo Ri has to put in her digs. She calls Chae Won shameless for coming to work after the self-staged show she put on. Joo Ri declares that she would be so embarrassed she would quit and then warns Se Yoon about getting involved with a woman like that. He tells Joo Ri that she sounds like she knows Chae Won well and Joo Ri denies it, saying that a woman like Chae Won is pretty obvious. And how are you expecting to explain this conversation when he meets your mom? Chae Won sees them walk in together, Joo Ri’s hand on his arm, and she feels sad.
Inside one of the cooks begs Chae Won to use her relationship with the Director to help her brother to get hired. She even shoves a gift certificate in Chae Won’s hand and runs off, even as Chae Won tries to explain that she can’t do it. Asst Yoon sees the last part and thinks that Chae Won just took a bribe.
Oehalmeoni is still feeling upset. Appa tries to get Oehalmeoni to change her mind but Oehalmeoni is convinced that Choon Hee is a harlot. The aunties try to also convince Oehalmeoni but she can’t believe they changed their minds. Appa also tries to get Choon Hee to be patient.
Opera Man is moping, thinking of Auntie. She calls him up and asks him out on a date, but it’s so she can set him up with an ajumma. He’s completely offended and tells her that she’s killed him again and storms off.
Se Yoon gets a call from Mom, who invites him to have a meal with Joo Ri and EMIL. Se Yoon decides to do it, so he can get all the truth out in the open. That way, Joo Ri doesn’t have to be burdened anymore. EMIL is only too overjoyed to meet Mom for lunch. Mom asks about the new DIL and EMIL lies about how great Hong Joo is. Then she starts to say something nasty about Chae Won when Mom mentions Chae Won’s name. EMIL thinks that it’s only a matter of time before Mom is completely snowed. EMIL’s even more ill at ease when Mom mentions that the kids are meeting them. When Mom asks, EMIL lies and says that this is the first time she’ll be meeting Se Yoon. EMIL rushes off quickly to the bathroom to call Joo Ri.
Se Yoon and Joo Ri are in the car and he hasn’t told her that EMIL’s going to be at the lunch, too. EMIL calls and tells Joo Ri that she’s at the restaurant right now with Mom. Se Yoon’s heard Joo Ri say that the call was EMIL and he looks like he knows what they’re talking about, even though they’re speaking with code. EMIL rushes back to Mom and tells her she can’t stay because something urgent came up at her company. Mom is pleasant and of course thinks the best. EMIL barely makes it out of the restaurant before they arrive. When they get inside, Joo Ri is visibly relieved. Mom tells them that EMIL was pulled away for an urgent meeting. Se Yoon notes the excuse. Mom tells Joo Ri knew that EMIL would be there and he laughs and declares he forgot!
Chae Won is at work, checking in with the employees about their meals. A man comes up asks to speak with her. He’s brought her some native honey because he wants her help getting an administrative meeting. Asst Yoon overhears just that part and stops off, angry, so he doesn’t hear Chae Won flatly turn him down, even after the guy throws in money. Asst Yoon’s now reporting Chae Won taking bribes to Se Yoon. Se Yoon doesn’t know what to think.
Chae Won goes and talks to the cooks that she is *not* in a relationship with Se Yoon. They don’t believe her. Chae Won adds that even if she was, Se Yoon wouldn’t accept bribes. Se Yoon’s arrived to yell at her. Outside, instead of asking her what’s going on, he starts out by yelling at her: Is it alright for her to disappoint a person this much?! How many masks does she wear? She asks him what’s going on and he sarcastically asks that she has no idea what he’s talking about. He tells her it was bad enough the candy basket and the post on the website but now she’s selling his name for bribes? She’s incredibly hurt by what he’s saying and starts to cry as he yells at her whether it’s all right for her to use a person and then step on them like that?! She demands to know who said she took bribes. He asks if it’s really important. She cries that it is to her. He tells her that she’s really shameless. And I am surprised that she doesn’t quit.
After crying a moment, she goes to confront Joo Ri. Asst Yoon sees this part and calls Chae Won shameless. Se Yoon passes by just as Chae Won’s dragging Joo Ri outside to talk. Outside, Chae Won tells Joo Ri that she definitely warned Joo Ri about going after her. Joo Ri’s “clueless.” Chae Won declares that Joo Ri made her look like a bad woman who fabricates things, like human trash who accepts bribes. Joo Ri doesn’t have a clue about the bribes part. Chae Won says that because they were once family, she wasn’t going to say anything about being related, but she can’t tolerate it anymore. Chae Won declares that she was going to keep it secret to the end, but now she’s going to tell Se Yoon everything. Joo Ri sees Se Yoon come outside and immediately puts on a show for him, dropping to her knees and begging Chae Won to believe that she didn’t say anything. She even calls her Unni.
Chae Won can’t believe Joo Ri’s gall and declares that she’s going to tell Se Yoon everything, but there he is. He tells Chae Won she doesn’t have to be that type of woman, because he already knows everything. Se Yoon declares that he knew they were sisters-in-law. Joo Ri about has a heart attack. Se Yoon then goes over and helps Joo Ri up. He declares that Chae Won is like an endless onion that he’ll never know the end of, no matter how much he peels. Who on earth is the real Chae Won? He’s no longer curious. Chae Won just looks at him. And I am yelling at her to leave first. But no. Se Yoon tells Joo Ri that they should go talk a bit. As they leave, Chae Won cries and tells herself to stop, since she’s weathered more difficult times that these. But she cries because Captain Lee has abandoned her.
Joo Ri won’t look at Se Yoon. She says that she’s ashamed. She asks how long he’s known and wants to know why he didn’t say anything. He tells her he didn’t say anything because he knew she wanted to hide it. He asks if her family knows and she lies and says they don’t. She declares that EMIL will faint with emotional trauma. She asks if he’s disappointed. He replies that he was nervous. She tells him she wanted to say, but she didn’t have the courage. She mentions how he must have a really bad impression of EMIL since he has such a good impression of Chae Won. He asks her if Chae Won’s tormented her all this time, that she would reveal the truth to him. Joo Ri says she doesn’t want to speak ill of her former SIL. Joo Ri acts like she was understanding of being a subject of Chae Won’s wrath. And I want to throttle Se Yoon. And I can’t believe I’m going to have to suffer through 4 more episodes before all this will be exposed. Dude, Chae Won didn’t make EMIL be so haughty or accuse you of adultery or doctor photographs or any of the other of myriad of things that EMIL has done and now you’re going to fall for the lies? If I was Chae Won, I’d be done with him. It wouldn’t matter how much he was my Captain Lee, I’d be done. There’s no way I’d want to forgive how he’s betraying her now. No way. It’s too ridiculous. Joo Ri tells him that because she didn’t want to get caught, she’s been living in fear. Se Yoon twists his jaw, upset and angry for all the suffering that Joo Ri’s been through. Joo Ri asks him if he’s going to dump her now.
Oehalmeoni is out on a walk through the market with Bo Reum (the grandson). They come across Appa, who’s at a pub drinking. She asks him why he’s drinking – to get over his frustrations over her objecting to the marriage? He denies it. So Oehalmeoni starts drinking with him. She asks him if he hates her, resents her, and he protests he doesn’t. She starts to cry and says that she has to be mean like this so it’s easier for him to leave. Appa cries, too. Oehalmeoni says that if he likes her, that’s what matters; she can’t stop him. He just cries. Oehalmeoni leaves Bo Reum with Appa and goes to visit Choon Hee. After the two drinks, Oehalmeoni’s a little drunk. Oehalmeoni demands Choon Hee make her some food. Up in Choon Hee’s room. Oehalmeoni comments that Choon Hee isn’t lazy at all. Oehalmeoni is impressed by Choon Hee’s cooking. Oehalmeoni decides that she likes Choon Hee.
Auntie goes and visits Opera Man. He’s still depressed. She wants to know why he’s upset. He tells her to just leave it. She’s brought a fruit basket and he’s encouraged that she bought it for him, but it’s actually from someone at the coffee shop. He throws her out for that.
Hong Joo skips the memorial service. Obvious repercussions.
Se Yoon’s out at the pork place, eating and drinking by himself. He’s not happy. Joo Ri finds him there. EMIL calls and Joo Ri wants to skip it too. Joo Ri tells her that Se Yoon knows everything. Se Yoon’s starting to get drunk and, of course, he’s thinking about Chae Won and all this stuff that’s happened recently to make her look bad. And all I have to say, dude, is that Chae Won’s never lied to you where you’ve caught Joo Ri is lots of them. Se Yoon slurs, “How can she disappoint me this much?” How can she think of using him? He thinks of Chae Won out with her sunbaes, drunk, her at the batting cage and wonders who she really is. She’s actually back at the batting cage, smacking balls that are Se Yoon. She screams that *he’s* disappointed? *She’s* disappointed. And he’s nothing! Exhausted, she drops the bat and it wouldn’t be an episode of the show if Chae Won didn’t cry. Joo Ri rushes to get a very drunk Se Yoon up. He looks at her and looks puzzled. He calls her Eun Seol and tells her that it’s been a while. She tries to get him up and finally managed to stumble him to the car and Chae Won arrives just in time to see Se Yoon kiss ‘his dead girlfriend.’ Joo Ri’s shocked, but she sees Chae Won looking, so she kisses Se Yoon back, hard.
