Joong Won’s eyes pop open. Gong Sil smiles at him and asks him if he, Joo Goon, is awake. He glances around momentarily and then looks over to glare at her for calling him Joo Goon. She snuggles some more with his hand, telling him they should sleep in just a little more since she doesn't want to be awake yet. Making an angry face, Joong Won rolls her over – on top of him, no less, but he doesn’t like her at all. She stares at him a little surprised at this and he asks her who she is right now. Was he hoping that she was Hee Joo? Is that who he went to bed with? After all, they were holding hands. Does he really still have that much of an unrequited thing going with his first love?
He asks her if she’s Tae Gong Sil and she realizes that she’s *not* dreaming. He makes another annoyed face and throws her and her hand off, almost flinging her to the floor. He jumps up from the bed. She confused and a little hurt. He mutters that of course, *she’d* think this was a dream even if she’s awake and for him, now that he’s awake, it feels even more like a nightmare. He spins around and tells her not to even think about making a big fuss about this, since all they literally did was sleep holding hands.
Gong Sil glances around and asks Joong Won where they are. Almost reluctantly he says that it’s his house. She’s shocked, but then she looks around and tells him his house is nice. The Joong Won gives her a hard time for *not* being normal. A normal person would have freaked out and made a fuss, asking, "Why am I here?" But not her. Gong Sil smiles and says that it's not very often, but she’s been in this kind of situation before. Once she even woke up at the Mangwoori Graveyard. She laughs about that one, which makes him glare at her and tells her she’s abnormally morbid. He can’t believe that she’s okay with ending up at random places like that. Is that normal?!
Gong Sil replies that she is a little scared of ghosts, but they can be helpful, too. Joong Won squints at that one. Gong Sil says that occasionally the ghosts let her know about a bad person, and even scare them away, too. She smiles as she realizes it sounds like concern and asks him if he was just worrying about her. He sarcastically smiles and tells her that it’s not her, but the people she must have scared that he’s worrying about. Doing his face hand wave, he asks her how it would be, for her to just show up like that at a graveyard. Flashback to the graveyard and her scaring the living wits out of a family, looking like she just rose from the dead.
Suddenly Gong Sil realizes that something bad might have happened with Joong Won and asks him if he was frightened. He gives her a hard time and tells her that he, too, was VERY frightened. Which confuses Gong Sil, since she woke up neatly tucked into bed. He glowers that thanks to her, a lot of guests came and left his house yesterday.
Flashback to Gong Sil possessed by a child crying for its mother. Joong Won keeps telling her to come to her senses, but she keeps begging him to find her mother. Finally Joong Won grabs Gong Sil’s arms to shake some sense into her and the ghost leaves. But another one quickly arrives, begging for some water. Joong Won rolls his eyes and walks away. But he’d gone to get her some water. And when he comes back, she’s been possessed by a French ballerina (with blue eyes). When Gong Sil collapses, she falls on him and the ghost leaves. Joong Won mutters that he’s going crazy and shoves her off him. Next, we hear the theme, 'The Circle of Life,' from The Lion King, as Gong Sil is possessed by a dog. Joong Won sighs and rolls his eyes and throws a pillow at the howling Gong Sil, who begins to ferociously attack the pillow with her teeth. He’s a little unnerved by that one.
In the present, Gong Sil’s looking at the ripped up pillow and feeling a little bad. Joong Won tells her that, after drinking, she became a dog, probably something big like a Siberian Husky, from the way she was attacking the pillow. Gong Sil mutters that she wasn't drunk yesterday though. She wonders if it was because she was exhausted. Joong Won huffs that she was only quiet when he held her, so he just held her hands and slept.
Suddenly, though, Joong Won’s interested. He slides off the chair he’s been sitting in and sits next to Gong Sil on the bed. He wants to know: she’s not just seeing and hearing them, but they come and go (through her body), too? She sheepishly replies that when she’s completely unconscious, sometimes it happens, so she can't even sleep deeply and instead have live like this, always being careful. Joong Won asks her if that’s the reason why she always goes around being dopey with the dark circles under her eyes. Boy, he’s always so nice. But at least he’s starting to get what Gong Sil’s life is like and why she’s *so* desperate to be able to touch him. To at least get a good night’s rest.
Gong Sil smiles and says that because she slept with Joong Won the night before, she slept so well. She crawls across the bed – chasing him back into his chair, which cracks me up how absolutely paranoid he is about touching anyone – and tells him that she really liked it. He, of course, has to day that he hated it. He tells her she was just Dog Gong Sil last night. Which reminds Gong Sil to wonder why she was like that. She just went to the get-together, got sleepy, and had a headache. So she went outside and then... Gong Sil remembers seeing Hee Joo with Joong Won. She asks him if he met Cha Hee Joo, if she to Joong Won after becoming Cha Hee Joo.
We get to finally hear that conversation from the night before. Hee Joo – in Gong Sil’s body – tells Joong Won that it’s the bitch he hates. His face is softer as he asks if she’s Cha Hee Joo. She wonders how hard it must have been for him, hating her for that long, since he really liked her that much. Joong Won remembers them smiling together as he happily pushed her on swing and laughed. She says that his feeling of betrayal must have been big because of it, and he probably couldn't forget it because it was so horrible.
Joong Won looks at her like he’s not sure what to believe and remembers Hee Joo apologizing in the warehouse, her face as she died in the car. Joong Won says that because she died like that, he couldn't even repay her for the betrayal. It was humiliating, so he couldn't even say he was deceived by her. Well, at least that explains why he never told anyone that she was in on it, because he was embarrassed. Joong Won adds that thanks to her, she remained as the curse of his sad first love. He tells her that since she’s there, she should release the curse.
Hee Joo sighs and tells Joong Won that she didn't deceive him; she really did like him. Hee Joo tells him that she wishes he became his old self again. Aw. She’s making me like her a little. What is the story behind the kidnapping?! Joong Won doesn’t want what she said to affect him so he replies that what he wants to find is the kidnapper that he lost, to get back his money, and after he finds the kidnappers, to forget what happened, and then that curse will also release.
Hee Joo is moved by his pain and reaches up to touch his face. He lets her – and totally looks like the boy who used to be in love with her. As Gong Sil’s fingers tenderly touch Joong Won’s face, Jae Hoo’s spirit is forced to leave, but not before she tells Joong Won she loves him. Gong Sil collapses onto Joong Won’s shoulder. Joong Won just stands there. There are tears in his eyes and he swallows some of them. He reaches up and places his hand behind Gong Sil’s back, obviously affected by both women.
Back in the apartment, Gong Sil’s trying to find out what Hee Joo said to Joong Won. He almost angrily says that Hee Joo disappeared after saying useless things. There he goes, convincing himself again. Gong Sil is happy for him and tells him that he got to met the person he wanted to meet the most. In the living room now they sit on the couch. Joong Won announces that because of *the money* he’s decided to grant her wish to stick to him. Gong Sil’s going to help him get his 10 billion won back.
Outside Gong Sil’s apartment, Woo knocks on her door. Discovering that she’s not home AND that her door is unlocked, Woo decides to scope out her apartment. Pulling on some white gloves, he pulls out a green-bulbed flashlight and starts to look around. Why use a flashlight when it's daytime? I don't understand why they do it on CSI either.
Joong Won declares that Hee Joo's the only one who knows where his 10 billion won disappeared to. Since Gong Sil’s the only one who can contact her, he’s going to stick Gong Sil next to him. She clarifies that because of money he’s going lend me use of his body. He replies that he’s providing her with what she wants in exchange for what he wants. And he doesn’t like her at all. Not at all. Joong Won adds that she said that he was her safety hideout. Well, she’s his ghost radar. He snaps his fingers at this idea, because it’s such a clever excuse. And by using the radar, if she finds his money through Hee Joo... He leans back, throwing open his arms, and declares that his safety hideout will be wide open for her. Gong Sil’s practically ecstatic and excitedly asks if that means that she can touch him? He kind of cringes at the thought of her touching him, but Gong Sil ignores it. Clapping her hands together, she declares that she will be his radar!
Joong Won sighs, acting like he’s reluctant about this new deal – the man is so out of touch it’s sad – and mutters that he has to find a place to install his radar… some place near him though. Gong Sil almost coyly says that there is a place she want to be installed. She taps Joong Won’s leg, to which he grimaces and pulls away, and declares that she’d like to be installed next to Secretary Kim. Joong Won won’t hear of it, since his secretary is the face he shows to the public. She expects to be there with that greasy hair of hers? She replies that she'll wash her hair well. He scoffs that Gwi Do does difficult and important work. She tells him that before her accident, she was really smart and got good grades. And after the accident, she couldn't sleep well so she learned lots of foreign languages to pass time. Joong Won tells her to stay on the cleaning team for now while he thinks about where to install her.
Back in Gong Sil’s apartment, Woo’s finding things: a picture of Gong Sil and her sister when Gong Sil was a student at Hanguk University. A picture of Gong Sil with a tennis trophy. He looks in her yearbook and discovers that Yi Ryung was her classmate. Back when the girl looked really geeky with huge glasses, a bowl cut and braces. He doesn’t understand it. She went to a prestigious university and had lots of friends... A woman that had a lot of talent... Why is she living like this?
Back at Joong Won’s, Gong Sil is putting his number in her phone. She tells him that she’s not planning on using it, just think knowing his number alone will be a huge solace for her. He tells her to put herself at ease, but don't call him. She wants to know if she can text, but he tells her he won’t read them. Because he *can’t* read them. Gong Sil asks him if he’s really worth 10 billion won. He replies that in today's market... it's more than 10 billion won. Gong Sil smiles slightly and says that she’s a woman that costs more than 100 billion won. That accident she mentioned, when she was in a coma, her sister used all her saved marriage money to save her life. To her sister, that money was worth more than 100 billion won, but she did it to save Gong Sil.
Gong Sil starts to sound sad as she says that she’s sorry for my sister that she became strange like this. And she also feels pathetic to live in hiding at the Study Motel. She might be scared of ghosts, but she’s more scared of who she was that was living like a ghost. Joong Won purses his lips as he listens, feeling bad for being a jerk. Gong Sil smiles and says that it's such a relief to have met him. He looks at her and she smiles full of gratitude for how he’s given her her life back. He sighs and, looking away, tells her to save his number again. The one he gave her earlier was Secretary Kim's. She’s surprised, but he takes the phone and puts in his number, annoyed that he’s been affected. He reminders her to use it only in finding solace and don't make unnecessary calls. Also, don't send messages because he really doesn't read words.
Sung Ran is walking with Uncle VP. She asks him about the name of the girl who ruined Yi Ryung's wedding. She forgot what it exactly was. Uncle VP tells her that it was Tae Gong Sil. He makes a comment about her being forgetful because of her age. She again questions him about their relationship and because he’s not with her because of the money, he passes her test. He wants to talk to her about Joong Won’s relationship with Gong Sil, because there’s a rumor that Joong Won’s taking special care of that woman. Sung Ran tells him to stop talking nonsense and goes inside so she misses Gong Sil coming out of Joong Won’s apartment building. But Uncle VP sees her.
Yi Ryung is with her manager at the hair salon. Yi Ryung’s decided she’s going to talk to Gong Sil the next time she sees her. Back in high school, Gong Sil was the "big" sun and she was the "little" sun, so now she’s going to get even. Her manager tells her that she can lose her inferiority complex now, so Yi Ryung snaps at her. Yi Ryung fixes her hair in a mirror.
They notice the actress Kim Yi Ji sitting in a chair at the salon, primping in front of a mirror. We see that she’s being haunted by a ghost, one that is making her obsessed with being the prettiest in the world. Her manager thinks the actress had plastic surgery. Yi Ryung’s not intimidated since she thinks she’s prettier. She walks by the actress and gives her the stink eye. In doing so, she attracts the attention of the ghost, who’s now going to weave his magic on Yi Ryung.
Woo exits Gong Sil’s apartment only two encounter the two little boys from downstairs. Woo pretends to be there to ask about the broken light bulb on the 4th floor. The older boy, Seung Mo, gives him a ‘yeah, right’ look and the next thing they know, Woo’s treated them to ice cream to buy their silence. Gong Sil finds them eating their ice cream. Seung Mo shares one with Gong Sil and tells her that Woo is alright and she should consider dating him, since Woo said that he likes her. Gong Sil giggles and hurries up the stairs. Seung Mo tells his brother, Seung Joon, that they’ll be eating ice cream all summer if this keeps up.
Upstairs, Gong Sil comes across Woo, who asks if the kids said something. Gong Sil pretends she has no idea what he’s talking about but Woo presses the issue. Gong Sil is understandably awkward. Woo helps her eat her ice cream by smacking it so it will melt and Gong Sil hurries inside her apartment, but not before Woo tells her that he was worried because she disappeared yesterday. Inside, Gong Sil slightly wigs out because a pretty boy, not just a ghost, likes her.
Woo is talking to whoever he’s working for – I’m convinced it’s Joong Won’s dad – about Gong Sil. He’s e-mail his employer her background information and doesn't think she’ll be a problem. He described his position as awkward now. And then we get to see who he’s talking to. It *is* Joong Won’s dad! I knew it! I knew it! Not that I know the old man’s motives, but ‘yes!’ I guessed correctly, at least about who’s employing Woo! Joong Won’s pops wants Woo to stay on things, because it seems like Gong Sil has a connection to Hee Joo. And since there's a woman hovering around Joong Won, Woo should look into it more. We see Woo sigh and reply, “I understand, Father.” What?!!! Father? They’re brothers? From another mother? What?!!! That’s one way to get to know your hyung. Woo hangs up and sighs. He’s not happy to still be doing this.
Joong Won’s sporting a plaid suit with a weird blue ascot. Yes, it brings out his eyes, but it’s still a really odd choice. And usually Joong Won’s dressed so well. The spats, people! He and Gwi Do are discussing the progression of Giant Mall's construction's. Gwi Do tells him that Giant’s CEO is supposed to be attending an upcoming charity event. *Their* charity event. Joong Won thinks the guy is planning something. Gwi Do gives Joong Won the information on the charity event and the list of VIPs (and the tape recorder that he’s read contents of the files into).
Joong Won brings up the new position. He wants Gwi Do to create a new position, one that is physically close to him, but one that stays out of his sight. It won't include any important tasks and will remain unnoticeable anyone else. Wow, Joong Won’s still being a butthead. Crow, dude, crow! Gwi Do says that he understands. And I really wonder what he’s thinking about it.
Downstairs, Gong Sil looking at herself in a mirror, marveling at how just one night’s sleep seems to have gotten rid of the dark circles under her eyes. Han Joo arrives with a couple other security guards and tries to get on her good side, since they think she’s the boss’s mistress. Gong Sil’s clueless and happy to have friends.
As Han Joo and his friends walk away, Han Joo says that you're supposed to make connections with the King's concubines... That's how you become successful. Doofus. Yi Ryung appears and tells Han Joo that Uncle VP is looking for him. Uncle VP is upset about Han Joo spreading the rumor about Joong Won and Gong Sil. In Uncle VP’s office, Han Joo says that he’s never spread a rumor about the CEO without evidence. Uncle VP tells Han Joo that he can speak comfortably. So Han Joo goes through his list of evidence:
- One, when Gong Sil first arrived at Kingdom. Flashback of her yelling after Joong Won about that tingly moment they had in the car, when she touched him. And leaving her clothes behind.
- Two, he was charged with escorting her and then suddenly she became part of Kingdom’s cleaning team.
- Third, one night when he was on duty, he saw them hugging in the parking garage.
Yi Ryung is looking through clothes. She declares to her manager that she has to look the prettiest in the Kingdom… Splendid and shiny, radiant like the sun. Yi Ryung find the perfect outfit for the charity event and then she sees someone stabbing a picture of Gong Sil over and over in a fit of jealous rage, angry that Gong Sil is the big sun and she’s the little sun. She asks who it is and is shocked when the vision tells her that she’s her. She turns to run, only to be confronted by the ghost that’s latched onto her.
And it’s just a dream which Yi Ryung wakes from screaming. Her manager wants to know what’s wrong and asks if she’s planning on wearing the dress the manager is holding. Yi Ryung sees it and is shaken because it’s the dress from her dreams. She gets a flash of the ghost muttering that now...she...is...prettier... Yi Ryung decides to head to the mall to confront Gong Sil.
Gong Sil’s down talking to her sister. Gong Ri is really happy to see Gong Sil doing normal things, like a normal person, out in the world. Why her sister constantly wears those hats, I don’t know. Gong Sil is happy to and attributes it to the fact that before, she was just a cornered rat with no escape. But since she finally has an escape, she’s finally able to breathe. Gong Ri asks if Gong Sil’s stopped seeing the ghosts and Gong Sil says that that’s not the reason she can breathe. Then she happily shares her coffee with the coffee ghost, since he really seems to like the coffee there. Gong Ri whines a bit about her still seeing things but Gong Sil scampers off, leaving Gong Ri with the ghost and the coffee cup.
Yi Ryung is walking through the mall, wearing the very fancy dress. Why she’s that dressed up, who knows… except that she’s there to make Gong Sil feel like crap, so she really needs to look good to do it. There’s a crowd following her as she walks through the mall. Gong Sil’s in the midst of cleaning when Yi Ryung finds her. Yi Ryung starts making little comments to put Gong Sil down. Woo approaches and observes everything. Yi Ryung makes a big deal about Gong Sil *cleaning* there and when she steps over to Gong Sil’s cart, the freaky beauty ghost is there glowering at Gong Sil. It freaks Gong Sil out so she runs… right into Woo. He asks her what’s wrong, but she doesn’t say anything and just scurries off. Probably in search of Joong Won. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Woo thinks that Gong Sil ran off because Yi Ryung is being a snot.
Yi Ryung sees Woo and informally greets him. He’s not pleased to see her and accusatorily asks why Gong Sil’s like that. Yi Ryung has no idea but is surprised that Woo and Gong Sil know each other. Yi Ryung declares that she went to high school with Gong Sil. He glares at her and tells her that he knows. This makes Yi Ryung want to go get coffee with Woo, so she can get the dirt on how Gong Sil’s lived since school. Woo replies that he doesn’t want to. Starting to talk informally, he says that he doesn't like talking with someone that his friend doesn't like. Yi Ryung can’t believe he’s turning down a pretty woman like her. He’s kind of surprised, too, since he would reconsider it if he were with a really pretty woman. But she’s not pretty. Slam! He’s looking at the inside, babe. Woo gives her one last glare and then walks off with Gong Sil’s cart. As he goes, the ghost begins whispering something in Yi Ryung’s ear.
Gong Sil has indeed run upstairs and is huddled on the floor outside Joong Won’s office. She is horrified because not only did Yi Ryung see her strange side, but Woo did, too, and he probably won't like her anymore. Joong Won comes out of his office and asks her who she’s talking about, a ghost? She tells him that she ran into Yi Ryung but next to Yi Ryung was something scary, so she ran there. He’s a little appalled that she’s sit on the floor because she was scared. She says she did it because she was so embarrassed. Joong Won’s a little shocked, since she wasn’t embarrassed about showing up at a graveyard. And, of course, because he’s vain and he likes her but is in denial, he asks: Does the embarrassing thing have to do with him? When she tells him no, he get’s irritated and tells her to leave.
Joong Won goes to return to his office, but Gong Sil hurries after him. She tells him that before she wasn’t embarrassed, but now that she has a breathing hole, she actually feels very embarrassed. Joong Won condescendingly applauds and congratulates her on finding shame. He asks her why she’s telling him. She coyly smiles and reaches out her finger to touch him as she says that it’s because he’s her breathing hole... He cringes away from her finger and glares at her for trying to touch him. And I laugh, He is such a doofus.
Gong Sil notices Gwi Do’s desk and says that the office looks nice. Joong Won tells her that he doesn't plan to set the radar here, so she needs to get out. Before she goes, Gong Sil tells him that she’ll try to find Hee Joo’s ghost. Joong Won reminds her that she’s supposed to be cleaning, since she’s still part of the cleaning team. Joong Won tells her that she’s sticking around like an annoying stray dog and she needs to – hand wave – get lost. Gong Sil smiles and leaves.
As she leaves Uncle VP and Gwi Do arrive and see her walk past. Uncle VP remarks that Gong Sil’s cleaning area must be the CEO's office. Gwi Do smiles and tells him that he has too much interest in the CEO's office. Uncle VP snaps that it’s because they’re family. Even if Joong Won has never called him uncle.
After work, Gong Sil is walking home. Or rather nervously standing at a crosswalk, waiting for the light to change. Woo walks up and notices her. He also notices her weird behavior. Her starting to cross the street, stopping as if startled by something, trying to sidestep it, but then leaving to run in the opposite direction. Woo decides to follow her.
Gong Sil is walking determinedly up a hill. Then she starts backing down the hill as if afraid, before scrunching her eyes shut and running past whatever it is she saw. Woo thinks it’s really odd, especially, since she was going home, why did she take such a long detour? Gong Sil arrives at her apartment building. She asks the landlady if the grandmother at the supermarket died and is told that she did pass away that morning. So that’s the ghost that Gong Sil’s seeing. How did the halmeoni know to pester Gong Sil? Landlady wants Gong Sil to go empty out the collection bins for the recycling. Gong Sil runs upstairs to change as Woo arrives.
When Gong Sil comes back downstairs, she discovers the recycling has been taken out. Outside, Woo’s finishing up putting out the recycling and wondering what’s making her life so difficult, since it’s not just the cleaning.
In her room, Gong Sil’s desperately trying not to fall asleep and is begging the halmeoni to leave her alone. Apparently the halmeoni wants Gong Sil to do something about the convenience store opening up next to the supermarket.
Yi Ryung’s gotten decked out in model glamour clothes and is admiring herself in the mirror. Suddenly there’s crying. Yi Ryung starts hunting around for the “Little Sun.” Then her mirror moves and the image of her school self appears, declaring that present-day Yi Ryung is “Little Sun.” Again it’s a dream; this time she’s sitting in the van with her manager. Yi Ryung grabs a mirror and the ghost tells her that she has to become prettier. Yi Ryung asks her manager if she should get some work done on her face. Manager is shocked but Yi Ryung is sure that if she touches it up slightly, she'll become prettier.
Gong Sil’s up in Joong Won’s office. Joong Won’s looking through his golden telescope again. She’s begging him to sleep with her. Not *sleep with her* sleep with her, but sleeping holding hands. They don’t even have to go anywhere. It can be over on the sofa in his office. She just wants to rest for a moment, because the grandma at the supermarket died and has bothered her all night. She reaches out for him and he holds his arms up in an ‘X’ to ward off her hands. Heh. Joong Won squints at her and asks if she thinks the safety hideout is some kind of an inn? Heh. He tells her that the touch her endowed to her should only happen in times of emergency, when she’s about to pass out and die. He’s not about to become her cuddling teddy bear. Heh.
Gong Sil sighs sadly and whines that her night with Joong Won was so good. She reaches out to touch him with her finger and he squirms away. Joong Won tells her that if she misses that night, she needs to find Hee Joo and find out where his money is. He holds out his hand, temptingly. Gong Sil stares at it, almost drooling. Joong Won smiles as he holds it there, like dangling a carrot. When she reaches for it, he quickly shoves his hands behind his back. Gong Sil shakes her head as if to shake loose the sight of his hand. He almost gloats as he tells her that when she does that, then he'll allow it *once.* Such a butthead. Once? He so needs to eat crow. Please, writers.
Making puppy-dog, sad eyes, Gong Sil says that she wants to see Hee Joo too, but she's not appearing. She mentions that ghosts usually show up at the place where they died. She acts Joong Won about going there together. He shifts uncomfortably and tells her to talk to Gwi Do about it. Joong Won signals his dismissal of her by turning back to his gold telescope. Pained, Gong Sil reaches out to touch him but doesn’t, because she knows it would upset him. She leaves to find Gwi Do.
When Gong Sil does find Gwi Do, he says that it would probably make Joong Won miserable to go back to the site of the accident. Gong Sil asks about the kidnapping, that Hee Joo was the only one who died. Gwi Do tells her that while he was kidnapped, the culprits kept Joong Won confined, but got the ransom money through Hee Joo. And that sent up no red flags, that she could come and go?
The scene switches to an unknown man who opens a safe. It kind of looks like Chairman Joo. By the voiceover, I think it is Chairman Joo. Chairman Joo sits at a desk and looks over the jewels he pulled out of it. Gwi Do says that the kidnappers demanded jewelry as the ransom, jewels that used to belong to Joong Won’s dead mother. They’re really beautiful diamond necklace, earrings and ring. We see Joong Won tied up in a chair, sweaty and with a split lip. One of the kidnappers holds a phone up to his ear. The kidnapper’s face is covered by a scarf and sunglasses. The kidnapper has Joong Won read from a book: “We, by some lunatic, were invited to this place. Perhaps, he... might be a horrendous killer.” Joong Won is definitely afraid and is having a hard time reading the words. Gwi Do says that the kidnapper let Chairman Joo hear Joong Won’s voice every 30 minutes to confirm that the boy was alive. Gwi Do concludes his tale by saying that the incident still remains as a big trauma for Joong Won. And we know that he’s referring to Joong Won’s dyslexia.
Gong Sil asks why Hee Joo died, even after the ransom was given? Scenes of a car chase. Hee Joo is in the passenger seat. The kidnapper is driving, still with the scarf and sunglasses on. They’re pursued by about 8 police cars. Hee Joo looks frightened. Joong Won was in one of the cars chasing the kidnapper. Gwi Do says that Joong Won was released after the ransom was handed over, but Cha Hee Joo was kept as a hostage, and with the culprits on the run... Furious car chase. They’re accidentally hit by a lorry truck. The driver of the car staggers away, leaving Hee Joo behind. Joong Won arrives and as he’s held back by officers, screams at Hee Joo to come out, to run! She looks at him sadly and then the car explodes. Gong Sil sighs and says that she’s sure that it's hard to even remember the accident, let alone go back there.
Fade to Joong Won staring out the window, thinking. Gwi Do arrives. Joong Won mentions Giant Mall's completion date being moved up. Gwi Do asks if he’s depressed due to that incident. Joong Won coldly replies that this is not the time to be depressed. He wants them to do the rounds at the mall again, smiling until their mouths hurts, and keep them in check. He makes this really fake happy smile.
Yi Ryung is again prancing through the mall, surrounded by adoring shoppers. Her manager is trying to keep at least some distance between the mob and Yi Ryung. From the second floor, Joong Won and Gwi Do are observing the commotion. Joong Won’s not impressed, calling her hair poodle-like. Joong Won asks if that’s his model, Tae Yi Ryung. Gwi Do affirms her identity but says that she looks like a different person. Joong Won remembers Gong Sil telling him about meeting Yi Ryung, and there was something really scary next to her. Joong Won asks himself, “Did that woman also become a dog?” Heh. That really cracks me up. Doberman versus poodle…
As her manager shoos the people away, Yi Ryung asks if she’s found a hospital yet. Manager wants Yi Ryung to concentrate on the upcoming public event she needs to attend. Yi Ryung decides that her dress is too plain, so she wants to go pick another one. I wonder if we’ll see creepy Little Sun ghost.
Joong Won is eating dinner with his aunt and Uncle VP. Sung Ran says that she especially I specially invited Minister Kim's eldest daughter and Seo Kyung Company's third daughter to the upcoming fundraiser. She wants him to chat with these potential matches for at least 10 minutes. Uncle VP tells her that there's no need to force it, since he hears that Joong Won has a special person now. Sung Ran asks if Uncle VP is talking about that cleaning lady Bang Sil. Uncle VP starts to correct Sung Ran, but Joong Won finished with Gong Sil’s name. He looks a little annoyed. He announces that she's an employee that he’s been keeping close lately.
Auntie wants to know why Joong Won’s doing that. Uncle VP tells her that Joong Won is so neat and tidy that he asks her to clean his car, office, and...even invites her home for... cleaning. Uncle VP looks quite pleased with himself. Joong Won chews as he considers his response. When Auntie asks if that’s really what it is, Joong Won drops his utensils and declares that, yes, she's ridden in his car, she's visited him at work, and she's come to his home. But when he invited her home, it ... wasn’t to clean. Auntie wants to know what sort of relationship they have. He responds that what’s really going on would surprise his aunt more than what she’s currently thinking is happening. And, with a mischievous glint in his eye, he adds looking at Uncle VP, that from now on, he plans to have her even closer. Uncle VP smiles knowingly.
Auntie asks Joong Won if, by the word "plan", he’s marriage. Indignantly, Joong Won shakes his finger – he sure likes to shake his finger and wave his hand – and declares that neither of them are feeling that way about the relationship. So does that mean he’s implying they’re shacking up together? Joong Won tells Auntie that the only thing that Gong Sil wants from him is his body. You know Auntie is freaking out at him shacking up with someone. He is so wrong. Joong Won says that they’ve agreed on sharing skinship. Auntie’s face is dumb-struck with horror and she just stares at Joong Won. Uncle VP chirps up that Joong Won has people watching him at work (so a relationship just for skinship won’t do)! Joong Won adds that he’s going to move her somewhere where they'll get less attention. He also asks Uncle VP, since he has his eyes and ears on the latest gossip, to please keep gossip to a minimum.
Joong Won turns to Auntie and tells her to decide whether Minister Kim's daughter or Seo Kyung Company's daughter will be a better match. After all, she doesn't want him to end up in a marriage like hers, right? Smug little smile in Uncle VP’s direction. Uncle VP’s not so happy about that insult.
Back at the mall, Gong Sil is cleaning and being pestered by a ghost. Joong Won’s watching her from a distance and muttering to himself about their arrangement. He can’t believe that he’s agreed to a skinship relationship with this woman. He reminds himself to think about the money. He tells himself that Gong Sil is worth 10 billion won. Pleased with his analogy, he mutters that radars *are* expensive... He taps his chest and tells himself that it's okay, it's okay.
Joong Won walks up behind Gong Sil and puts his hand on her shoulder, immediately chasing the ghost away. Then he just stands there, leaning against the glass she’s cleaning. Looking like a dork. She smiles at him and says hello. He greets her as his “10 billion-won-radar.” He tells her he feels less cheated by calling her that. Dude, you are in such denial. She asks him why he’s calling on his “radar” since she didn't see Cha Hee Joo. He mentions the ghost attached to Yi Ryung; she's Kingdom’s model, but she's starting to become a dog-like wreck. He wants her to go check if the ghost is the reason for the transformation.
Gong Sil is reluctant, since the ghost with Yi Ryung is really scary. Joong Won assures her that he'll be nearby and she can run to him if it follows her. She shakes her head, saying that she still doesn’t want to do it. He tells her to be honest. Her reluctance isn’t really because of the ghost, but rather because she’s more embarrassed about her current state. Gong Sil tells him that Yi Ryung came there specifically to sneer at her and there's no reason she’d go just to be sneered at. Annoyed, Joong Won tells her to forget it, not to do it. Gong Sil tells him that, whether he believes her or not, she used to be pretty popular. She was the “Big Sun” and Yi Ryung was the “Little Sun.” Joong Won tells her that, to him, she just looks like a “squashed sun” hiding and making excuses that she’s scared. Always so nice. But his barbs do seem to have an affect on her. He makes his get lost wave and tells her to move it.
After work, Gong Sil is waiting to cross the street. Woo comes up and taps her on the shoulder. He asks her if she’s you taking the longer route because she’s got a lot on her mind. Gong Sil looks down, ashamed, and doesn’t answer him. He asks her why she was acting like that when she met Yi Ryung. Gong Sil asks if she wasn’t really strange. Woo nods and tells her that she couldn't even make eye contact. She tells him that at that time, she had a different reason for doing what she did, but now she’s avoiding Yi Ryung because she’s embarrassed. She feels worthless compared to Yi Ryung. Woo wonders if it’s not Yi Ryung that’s she’s intimidated by, but rather the old spectacular Tae Gong Sil.
Gong Sil isn’t quite sure how to take what Woo’s said. He smiles and tells her that he did a background check on her. That's what he told the boys when he bought them ice cream. Gong Sil nods in recognition. Woo smiles again and tells her not to compete with her old self. Someone whom he respects once said... “Don't compete with your past, but rather expect great things from your future and love your present self.” Gong Sil smiles and says that Woo’s friend such a cool person. Woo smiles and says that despite what he just said, since the old Tae Gong Sil was so spectacular, he's a bit intimidated. Again, Gong Sil’s not sure how to react to this compliment. The light changes and Woo suggests that they take the shorter route home today. Then he briefly takes her by the wrist to get her to start walking with him.
At the charity benefit, Auntie and Uncle VP are greeting guests. Woo is there, doing security guard stuff by the place where the money envelopes are dropped off. Gong Sil’s also there, working with the cleaning crew. Yi Ryung arrives. And, wow. Just wow. That’s a crazy peacock outfit. Everyone who sees her gets out of her way and reactions and the staring are not because it’s a good thing. Gong Sil sees her and is a little unsettled. But not, I don’t think, because she’s intimidated anymore. Yi Ryung approaches Uncle VP and Jin Joo and frightens both of them, Uncle VP so much that he hides behind Jin Joo. Yi Ryung nods a greeting and enters the banquet room, where she’s spotted by Joong Won.
Outside the banquet room, Gong Sil remembers seeing the ghost following Yi Ryung and mutters that Yi Ryung needs help. But she continues with her cleaning. Uncle VP notices her. He glances at her, Joong Won, and back at her. Thinking something clandestine is going on, for sure. He smiles because he’s about to create some mischief. He walks over to Gong Sil. He tells her that they’re short on staff inside and asks her to help out. Later, Jin Joo has lent her a dress and tells her to stand by Joong Won’s table.
As Gong Sil starts to walk over to her designated spot, she sees Yi Ryung admiring herself in the mirror. She also starts as she sees the ghost standing next to her. Joong Won notices Gong Sil and tells his setup to hold on a minute. He sees Gong Sil approach Yi Ryung. Gong Sil starts out by saying that it bothers her not to tell Yi Ryung something. She needs to stop taking it too personally. Not that this is clear what she means. Gong Sil leans forward and clasps Yi Ryung’s arm in her hands, imploring her to ignore it when someone tells you “you're the prettiest.” Gong Sil tells her, trying to pull her away from the ghost – although Yi Ryung isn’t budging – that if she get tricked into believing that she needs to become prettier, she’ll end up ruining herself. So, she shouldn’t pay attention to other people's words and just should see her true self. If she does that, she won't feel cold anymore.
Gong Sil scurries off and Yi Ryung stares after her, aghast. She asks herself if she just got dissed by Gong Sil. Yi Ryung declares that she’s totally perfect today. Elsewhere at the party, two women are observing and commenting on Yi Ryung. One thinks she looks a disaster and deserves to cut from Kingdom's model contract. Her friend adds that compared to Yi Ryung, she’s 100 times prettier. That catches the eye of the ghost and he leaves Yi Ryung. Yi Ryung physically reacts to the spirit leaving her and then really sees her getup. She has no idea why wearing what she’s wearing. She rips off the boa and walks out of the banquet hall.
Elsewhere the girl who declared herself 100 times prettier that Yi Ryung begins touching up her makeup and the ghost attaches himself.
Gong Sil is glancing behind her as she walks through the banquet hall. Joong Won puts himself in her path so she runs into him. She asks him why he's there. He quickly replies that this is his Kingdom. His event. It's obvious that he should be there. What's weird is that she’s there. He asks if she’s wearing the dress – which really doesn’t look like it fits her right – because of Tae Yi Ryung. Gong Sil says that she came in because she was told to work there, but because Yi Ryung was there, she talked to her. Gong Sil sheepishly adds that if she knew he was there, she would've asked him to be there, since it was really scary. He tells her she has no self-respect, since she helped someone she dislikes.
Gong Sil replies that she just sees ghosts, has no shame and no self esteem, but she decided to just love her present self. She tries to excuse herself, but Joong Won tells her to put her radars up. The CEO of Giant Mall will be arriving soon and he plays dirty. So Gong Sil starts walking with him. Joong Won tells her that Giant Mall’s construction completed early; he’s sure there's a conspiracy behind that. He wants Gong Sil to find out the CEO’s dirty secrets, if there's a ghost on the man. She tells him that the ghosts don't respond just because you ask them. Joong Won’s lip twitches at the inconvenience of that fact.
Gong Sil gasps and reacts with fear at something. Joong Won asks her what’s wrong. She points to Minister Kim's daughter and says that the ghost is over there. Gong Sil whispers in his ear what kind of ghost it is and Joong Won can’t believe it. He says that he could've been in big trouble since he just wasted 20 minutes talking to the woman. Is it possibly a dead *girl* friend? He gives her a pat and tells her that she did a good job. One of the servers walks up with some wine. Joong Won asks if Gong Sil’d like a glass as a reward, adding that it's expensive. Gong Sil doesn’t want to because of what happens when she drinks. She softly adds a little bark, which jogs Joong Won’s noggin and he agrees that she can't become a dog there.
Joong Won sighs and tells Gong Sil that there is someone he really wants to meet who is dead: Steve Jobs. If they went to Jobs’s house and she drank, would he (Joong Won) be able to talk with him (Jobs)? She doesn’t know but laughs at the thought of them going to America. Joong Won says that he’ll have to think about that one. Joong Won comments that it looks like his expensive radar can serve many purposes. Then he tells her to walk around with him some more and see if there's anything else they can find.
Woo is directing security. He sees Gong Sil with Joong Won. He watches as Gong Sil presses on Joong Won’s shoulder, Joong Won reacts and then she presses on her own shoulder, as if illustrating something. He’s not exactly happy to see them together.
Gwi Do approaches Joong Won and tells him that Giant Mall's CEO has requested a private meeting before he attends the event. Joong Won wonders what he’s up to and says that there’s no way the man knows that he has a 10 billion won radar. He tells Gwi Do to show Giant’s CEO to his office when the CEO arrives. Then he has Gong Sil come with him. Gwi Do isn’t sure how to take this.
As Gong Sil and Joong Won enter his office, something falls off his desk. He asks her what’s there, since last time when something like that happened, that there's something over there. Gong Sil doesn’t see anything. She asks him if he thought it was Hee Joo. When he says yes, she sheepishly apologizing for not seeing Hee Joo. Joong Won asks if the things she sees, if they disappear after telling her what they want. Joong Won concludes that Hee Joo could have also left after saying everything she wanted; something that he can’t forgive if she really did it.
Gong Sil says that she just remembered something, something Hee Joo said just before she lost consciousness. Gong Sil says that Hee Joo said that she doesn’t resent Joong Won. Hee Joo said that it was okay, and that it wasn't your fault and not to suffer anymore. Joong Won is skeptical, because he knows what went down between them – But I can still see Hee Joo saying this, though. Gong Sil adds that if you linger in the past, then you can't look to the future. And Hee Joo said that he has to care for himself in the present. So Joong Won should let go of the past and stop feeling bad for what happened. Oh, Gong Sil, you’re really digging yourself a hole right now.
Joong Won thinks about Hee Joo in the warehouse, telling him that she’s sorry and calling him Joo Joong Won. He looks at Gong Sil and tells her not to lie. He declares that there's no way she heard that, because there's no way that Hee Joo would've said that. He asks her if she just comforted him like she helped Yi Ryung. Ashamed, Gong Sil tries to mutter a reply, but Joong Won tells her to get out. He yells at her that if she’s not a stray dog, when he says go, she should go. Get lost! He’s really ticked. Which is understandable. Even though I can still see Hee Joo saying something like what Gong Sil said. Gong Sil apologizes and tells him that she felt like she was thankful to him and was trying to help.
Gong Sil starts to cry as she walks out of Joong Won’s office while he stares straight ahead, not knowing how to react to all this. Joong Won makes a fist, angry. Gong Sil is now in her own clothes and walking home. Joong Won is now sitting at his desk. Gwi Do arrives and tells him that Giant Mall’s CEO said he'll be late. He passes Joong Won the cell phone he left at the event. Joong Won wants to know how long the guy expects him to wait. Gwi Do replies that they’re not sure, since there was big accident near there and traffic is at a stand still. Breaking news on his phone declares that it’s a big accident with a high death count.
Gong Sil is walking down the street and sees the fire trucks and emergency vehicles.
Joong Won clarifies that he heard Gwi Do correctly. There was an accident near here and a lot of people have died. He thinks a moment. He asks Gwi Do is, by any chance, before Gwi Do brought him the phone, that perhaps there was a call? Nope. And Joong Won knows that all the dead ghosts are going to torment Gong Sil. Aw, at least he feels at least a little concerned for her. Gwi Do says that he’ll call Giant’s CEO and Joong Won wants to know why Gwi Do’s doing that. Gwi Do’s confused and asks him whether or not it was the CEO who he was just concerned about. Joong Won sighs and clenches his fist as his hand sits on his desk.
The scene of the accident. It’s so bad that a bus is on its side, on fire. Gong Sil arrives and sees the writhing ghosts who died in the burning bus. They start creeping toward her and she becomes more and more terrified. She tries to cover her eyes so she won’t see and can only just stand there, overwhelmed. Suddenly, Joong Won grabs her arm and spins her around so that she can hide her face in his chest. He holds her as she realizes what’s just happened. He tells her that her safety hideout came. Hide. Aw, I’m actually a little misty, especially after he said that. The episode ends with him holding her.
Thoughts
I guess I would call this episode a little uneven, basically because of the whole ‘Yi Ryung is possessed’ storyline. But there were several really great things that happened. First, Gong Sil got a good night’s sleep, holding hands with Joong Won. I really think that he’s started to like her, even now, even though he’d totally disagree. But he’s consistently shown that he does care about her, otherwise he wouldn’t keep harping on her about being more respectable.
Seeing what Gong Sil is like when she was drunk was very interesting and not just a little bit amusing in how it tormented Joong Won for a little. It makes me wonder, are the ghosts attracted to her like a magnet? How did those random ghosts find her? And what unfinished business could a dog have? It was sweet how Joong Won took care of her, even though he griped and complained and acted put upon the next morning.
Joong Won’s conversation with Hee Joo. While it may have confirmed that Hee Joo was definitely in on the kidnapping, it raised many more questions. For how angry he is at Hee Joo, does he also still care, even though he denies it? Especially given how he talks himself into things when he starts to disbelieve, I really think that he still does have a big Hee Joo-sized hole in his heart that he’s ignoring. Hee Joo tells him that she really did care about him, so why did she go along with the kidnapping? Was it a family member who planned it? And what kind of family member would just leave her there without trying to at least help her get out? Hee Joo acts genuinely sorry for what her sins have done to him and turned him into. I’m guessing that Joong Won was a very sweet boy before all of it happened. Since Hee Joo knows who her accomplice is, why isn’t she telling Gong Sil where the jewelry is?
I love how there’s all this skinship… and that the drama *calls* it skinship. What a great excuse! And Joong Won is so wrong to dangle the carrot in front of Gong Sil’s nose. I think, though, by the end, he finally *got* just how much her being able to touch him means for her life and sanity. That was so sweet that he came and rescued her! Plus he didn’t have to say anything, but he declares himself her safety hideout and tells her to hide. Aw!
Woo is getting closer to discovering her secret and it’s revealed that he’s working for Joong Won’s dad… whom he calls Father. What?! They’re related? I’m really hoping that this is not just a strange subtitled idiom and that Woo literally meant *father* although, how could Joong Won *not* know he has a brother. And why isn’t Woo wanting to spend more time with his hyung if they’re related? Yes, he’s there on a job, but still… And what prompted Chairman Joo to send Woo in the first place?
I do like that Woo was bothered by Gong Sil hanging out with Joong Won and seeming to be familiar. And, no, I don’t think it’s because of the job. I think it’s because he’s starting to like her. And I love that he isn’t interested in Yi Ryung. I love that he told her that she was ugly because of her insides. That was awesome.
It does make me wonder if Little Sun will ever decide to stop being jealous of Big Sun so Gong Sil can have a girl friend besides her sister. And what ever happened to Gong Sil’s parents? I can’t remember if it’s been explained what happened to them…
I can’t wait to see what happens next, as a result of the accident. Joong Won being there definitely shows that he believes her now, since he came specifically because she’d be tormented by what she sees.
