Suspicious Housekeeper Episode 11 Recap

It’s almost been a week since this episode was on and I am just now getting to it. Thank you, cold, that’s plagued me for two weeks now. My apologies if you've been waiting for my recap. I've been as anxious as you have to see what will happen.

The episode begins with a Do Hyung borrowing this strange woman. Bok Nyeo’s confirmation that she’ll kill him if he is Ji Hoon, and then his confirmation that he *is* Ji Hoon. It doesn’t look like there’s any reaction from Bok Nyeo, but I can see her seething with rage that he’s still alive and living well. Ji Hoon asks what she’s going to do now. She asks him again, if he’s really Seo Ji Hoon. He replies that he’s saying so… so what’s she going to do? It’s almost like he’s laughing, gloating. Bok Nyeo’s eyes are starting to get a little shiny.

Bok Nyeo stands and steps closer to Ji Hoon. The smile leaves. It’s then that the huge knife she’s been holding comes into view and you can almost see the ‘oh, crap,’ look on his face. But he’s really good at playing poker, so he keeps his face blank. She’s practically seething as she tells him that she’s so grateful that he *is* Seo Ji Hoon. His lower lip quivers slightly. She grabs his collar and swings.

We switch to the kids, who are out wandering the streets, calling Bok Nyeo’s name.

Then we’re at Happy Company, and Director Hong straightening her desk. Someone enters and she says that office hours are over. No reply but she’s shocked when she sees who it is.

The next day, at Gatsby Enterprises, Sang Chul arrives. And Ji Hoon is sitting at his desk, like nothing happened! What?! Not that I thought she’d actually kill him, since we have half the series to go, but hurt him at least. Sang Chul walks in and he looks pissed. Not even looking up from his papers, Ji Hoon tells him he should knock. Sang Chul wants to know where Bok Nyeo is. Ji Hoon snarks about Bok Nyeo meaning more to Sang Chul, like he’s acting like she’s his wife, since he’s asking so urgently first thing in the morning. Sang Chul snaps that he’s not in the mood for Ji Hoon’s jokes. Finally Ji Hoon looks at him and chuckles when Sang Chul asks what he did with her. He’s smug as he asks why he's obligated to tell Sang Chul that.

Eun Household. The doorbell rings and Hye Gyul answers it with her customary, “Bok Nyeo-nim?” She doesn’t lose her smile this time, because it’s Director Hong, who smiles delightfully back. Director Hong lets out a giggle when Hye Gyul remembers who she is. Han Gyul appears and wonders why Director Hong is there.

Back at the office, Sang Chul is packing up some notebooks into his briefcase. As he walks toward the door, Ji Hoon enters, looks at his watch, and asks if he’s already leaving. Sang Chul tries not to make a face. Ji Hoon is there to invite them to eat at his house. Sang Chul says that he has something with his kids, but Ji Hoon wants him to cancel it and come. Ji Hoon uses his “I am the CEO” line and basically twists his arm into coming to dinner. I wonder what he has planned and why is it at his house? Could it be that Bok Nyeo’s his new housekeeper?

Back at the Eun house, Han Gyul’s brought Director Hong something hot to drink. The place is a mess. These kids can’t clean up after themselves? Director Hong sighs as she sits, remarking that even though she sends housekeepers, they keep quitting because there are too many kids. These housekeepers are spoiled. That’s *not* a lot of kids. The Duggars have a lot of kids. Two of them are in high school. There’s only one that would require that much attention. I should be their housekeeper. Director Hong asks what they’re going to do. They want to know if she’s been able to contact Bok Nyeo Nim. Director Hong replies that Bok Nyeo’s the reason that she came. Director Hong moans that her mouth won't open, because it’s a delicate thing. Han Gyul asks if she knows where Bok Nyeo is.

We switch to Ji Hoon’s house, with him pouring Sang Chul and Song Hwa some wine. His face looks twitchy. When the camera pans back, his place is quite nicely decorated. Not the boxes and things from just a day ago. And I so have a bad feeling about this. Sang Chul does not look happy to be there; more like he’s waiting for a tetanus shot. All we hear is the sound of the wine being poured. Song Hwa looks uncomfortable, too. Ji Hoon sits, smiling, and reports that his new person is a skillful cook. Song Hwa asks about the new person. Ji Hoon smiles again and says that ‘new person’ is a bit misleading. It makes it feel as if he has a wife, right? And I really want to punch him, because it’s going to be Bok Nyeo. And that wife comment was a crack at Sang Chul. What a slimeball!

And there she is, Bok Nyeo, rolling in the food cart. What is she doing?!!! I am almost without words. Ji Hoon looks really pleased with himself, especially after he sees Sang Chul’s reaction. Sang Chul is appropriately shocked. Bok Nyeo says nothing, just serves the food. Ji Hoon announces that Bok Nyeo’s his new housekeeper and since they already know each other, he'll dispense with an introduction. Song Hwa is pretty shocked herself and looks at Ji Hoon, almost wondering what kind of game he’s playing. Particularly since Bok Nyeo attacked him the first time she saw him. This does not seem to be the actions of a sane man. But Ji Hoon isn’t a sane man, but a psycho, so it makes total sense.

Sang Chul looks upset. He asks to speak with Ji Hoon and gets up from the table. Smiling, Ji Hoon scratches his head and asks if he did something wrong. Song Hwa doesn’t really make any kind of response. He gets up and follows in the direction Sang Chul walked. Song Hwa thinks of Bok Nyeo’s first encounter with Ji Hoon. She asks Bok Nyeo why she’s there, since their first encounter was violent. Bok Nyeo says nothing.

Ji Hoon makes his way outside and acts like he’s apprehensive about the upcoming conversation. I think he’s loving all of it. Torturing Bok Nyeo and her loved ones, being able to manipulate her into being his personal slave. Obviously she wasn’t able to hurt him, even though she wanted to, so she knows that he can’t be stopped. Yet. Sang Chul asks Ji Hoon what he’s doing, considering how he knew how worried everyone in Sang Chul’s family was because they didn't know what had happened to her. And then he hires her, without mentioning anything? It’s almost as if Ji Hoon is putting up with a lecture. Ji Hoon replies that he made a deal with that woman. He acts like it’s no big deal: he needed a housekeeper and she needed a place to work. It's genuine employment. He smiles slightly as he says that the introduction was a little dynamic.

Flashback to Bok Nyeo with the knife, telling him that she’s thankful that he’s Seo Ji Hoon. As she brings down the knife, he reaches up and grabs her arm with both hands. He’s practically laughing. Because he’s a psycho. He asks her if she really meant to stab him and then declares that she’s a really scary person. Then he lies and says that he’s pretending. He was just curious as to how she'd respond. So, even if you aren’t Ji Hoon, you’re still a psychopath. He’s smiling as he tells her, that since this is her answer, he’ll just give up. He lets go of her arm and acts like he’s totally not Ji Hoon. She stares at him with disbelief. My bet, though, is that she’s there to figure out exactly if he *is* Ji Hoon. Then she’d be able to kill him in his sleep. Or set the house on fire with him inside. Something.

Ji Hoon’s still smiling at the memory as Sang Chul asks him if he knows who Bok Nyeo thinks he is. He answers, “Seo Ji Hoon.” Sang Chul declares, “A murderer!” and the smile goes away a little. Sang Chul tells him that Bok Nyeo sees him as the arsonist and murderer who killed her husband and son. He blinks a bit and actually looks a little upset. But if he’s Ji Hoon, her seeing his love that way might be a little distressing. Because he *loves* her. But then, when he’s repeating what Sang Chul said, it’s almost as if he’s about to laugh.

Bok Nyeo’s arrived at the table with the first course and Song Hwa declares that she's a really odd woman. She compliments Bok Nyeo on her game: acting devoid of feeling to catch men. Takes a manipulative shrew to see one. She tells Bok Nyeo that jumping from man to man is not an ordinary skill. Trying to get that rise out of her. Bok Nyeo looks at her and says that compared to her, she’s *still* very lacking. Ouch! And Song Hwa can’t believe she just said that. Bok Nyeo then excuses herself to go prepare the main course and Song Hwa can do nothing but sputter. She takes some of the salad dressing and spitefully puts it on her wine glass. Ji Hoon returns and Song Hwa asks about Sang Chul. He says that those two have something to talk about, so they should start eating.

Bok Nyeo’s cooking in the kitchen. Sang Chul enters. She doesn’t acknowledge his presence. Sang Chul wants to know what kind of a deal she made with CEO Jang. How did he manipulate her into this? She reports that she decided to work. Sang Chul laughs with disbelief and asks her if she isn’t aware that CEO Jang is making fun of you? He correctly points out that Ji Hoon is watching them all to enjoy their reactions. Bok Nyeo replies that it doesn't matter.

Back in the dining room, Song Hwa is asking Ji Hoon what he’s thinking, since Bok Nyeo’s a dangerous person. He smiles and responds in English, “High risk, high return.” The more risky a high yielding investment is, the more thrilling the game is. He muses that it’s funny... this stage. It's as dangerous as the playing with fire that she and Sang Chul did. He comments that in the dangerous fire play, Bok Nyeo lost her family. Which is him lumping in the stuff with Bok Nyeo’s husband and son into his sick little game. It’s stuff like this that makes me believe he’s Ji Hoon. He says that taking these three people and putting them up on stage, watching them… isn’t Song Hwa curious where everyone will go? How far Bok Nyeo will go? Song Hwa actually looks like he can’t believe he’s saying this. She declares his curiosity extreme. He nods and says that it’s because it first started as curiosity. Which again, gives me a glimpse into his sick, sick brain. And he's probably thinking of when she first caught his eye, back when she was tutoring him. Did he have money even back then? He picks up his utensils and starts eating.

Back at the Eun household, Director Hong’s just told them about where Bok Nyeo’s now working. Director Hong isn’t happy to tell them that the day before, the two of them came to the agency. At least we know what her reaction was based on. Seeing Bok Nyeo with the man who claims to be dead. Either she’s shocked because he’s alive, or worried because she isn’t sure what Bok Nyeo’s going to do.

Flashback to yesterday at Happy Company. Director Hong is sitting there with her mouth hanging open. Bok Nyeo is there with Ji Hoon, who looks very pleased by Director Hong’s reaction. She recovers to announce that Bok Nyeo is called a "housework robot," absolutely perfect in her work. Director Hong asks what kind of relationship they have, almost scared of the answer. Ji Hoon replies, “Stalker,” which freaks Director Hong out. But then Ji Hoon laughs and tells her that Bok Nyeo’s been following him, so he told Bok Nyeo to go ahead and try sticking to him as his housekeeper. No reaction out of Bok Nyeo. Ji Hoon announces that he just said it, in jest, but Bok Nyeo announced that he would have to pay the agency commission. Director Hong tries to act like everything is fine, but she grabs Bok Nyeo’s hand and drags her aside.

With their backs to Ji Hoon, Director Hong asks who Ji Hoon is. Bok Nyeo replies that he’s the new employer that she will work for. Director Hong asks if he’s the person that looks like Seo Ji Hoon? Flashback to Ji Hoon, who is thinking and smiles at whatever he’s thinking. Either he’s some other sick, sick person, who enjoys watching other people’s pain, or he’s Seo Ji Hoon, who enjoys watching the people in Bok Nyeo’s life experience pain, especially Bok Nyeo. Oh, it’s a flashback in a flashback, with Ji Hoon telling Bok Nyeo that he’s giving her the opportunity to confirm who he is. Back to the flashback conversation. Director Hong slaps Bok Nyeo’s arm and protests her becoming Ji Hoon’s maid. Concern is evident in her voice and on her face.

Now back to the present at the Eun house. Director Hong asks the kids to go visit Bok Nyeo, since they are the only ones who will be able to move Bok Nyeo's heart. All the kids look at Han Gyul and she immediately asks where Ji Hoon’s house is. Director Hong has the address for them.

Back at Ji Hoon’s house. Bok Nyeo has made some yummy looking salmon. It makes me hungry looking at it. Sang Chul’s still trying to talk to her. He tells her not to do this and leave this place. She replies that since she’s no longer his housekeeper, he shouldn’t be concerned about her. He answers, asking how he cannot be, since he knows why she’s there. This makes her pause and look up. She asks him to refrain from standing behind her. He asks why he shouldn’t; is she going to throw him over her back again? She goes back to her work, but Sang Chul grabs her wrist and starts to drag her out of the kitchen. She doesn’t really look like she’s fighting him either, when Ji Hoon enters. He notices Sang Chul’s hand on Bok Nyeo’s wrist.

Frowning, Ji Hoon announces that if Sang Chul does this, it's difficult. If this was the Joseon Era, it would be game over, as soon as he held her wrist. And I have to laugh because Lee Sung Jae (Sung Chul)’s last drama before this was ‘Gu Family Book,’ which took place in the Joseon Era. Heh. Sang Chul asks Ji Hoon to move and then Bok Nyeo wrenches her wrist free and goes back to preparing her meal. She exits the kitchen with the food and Ji Hoon tells Sang Chul to give Bok Nyeo the chance to confirm who he is. Sang Chul reluctantly leaves it for now.

At the dinner, everyone is eating, except Sang Chul. He really resents the game that Ji Hoon is playing. Song Hwa resents that Sang Chul is bothered so she’s obnoxious and points out the smear, implying it was because Bok Nyeo’s a bad housekeeper that her glass is smeared. And you were in love with woman, why? Ji Hoon comments that even though Director Hong said that Bok Nyeo’s perfect in all of her work, it seems there are places where she’s lacking. Bok Nyeo just apologizes and gets her a new glass. Ji Hoon looks over to see Sang Chul’s reaction and he’s just sitting there.

Next, Song Hwa asks Bok Nyeo to bring her cardigan from the entrance. Sang Chul looks at her with a face that says ‘what are you doing?’ and Ji Hoon’s face doesn’t look too pleased. Maybe because Bok Nyeo’s not giving any sort of reaction. Sang Chul sighs and as Ji Hoon looks at him again, he announces that he will refuse invitations like this, in the future. When Sang Chul tries to leave, Ji Hoon announces that Sang Chul can’t leave yet, since he hasn’t revealed the real reason that he invited Sang Chul over. Bok Nyeo brings in the cardigan and gently hands it to Song Hwa, who takes it, her face reading irritation.

Ji Hoon announces that they just received the Neo-China Project bid. He doesn’t want the past to look shabby, so he suggests that Sang Chul and Song Hwa start up again. Oh my gosh! I cannot believe this man. Wow. Psycho! Sang Chul looks at Ji Hoon and laughs in disbelief. Song Hwa is shocked and Bok Nyeo has no expression. She does, however, look at Ji Hoon this time. Sang Chul asks what their old relationship has to do with the Neo-China Project? Ji Hoon folds his hands and leans with his elbows on the table. He muses that it's like the word monogamy. In civilized society, the word means that we’re supposed to look only at one exalted person at a time. But in reality, there are societies, such as in Muslim society, where polygamy may be practiced. Polygamy yes. Adultery, no. They punish adulterers with 100 lashes – and that’s not soft whipping either. Ji Hoon asks how a person can only look at one person for their entire life? It’s pretty easy, guy. Adultery is *not* the norm. It’s the outlier.

Ji Hoon thinks that Sang Chul and Song Hwa have already paid enough for breaking a marriage covenant, quite severely. So there's no real problem with the two of them getting back together. Song Hwa almost has a hopeful look on her face but Sang Chul… he sifts his jaw the way someone does when they’re angry. Song Hwa chirps that she already told Ji Hoon that it was finished between them. She wants to know why Ji Hoon’s doing this. He says that it's a re-start from ground zero. From a new perspective, with a new image. He’s really pleased with how clever he is. He asks if they’d be able to work well together with all the awkwardness.

Sang Chul finally speaks, asking Ji Hoon if he’s the kind of person that violates others' privacy and dictates how they should act? Small reaction from Ji Hoon, where he’s not so smug. Sang Chul continues that if that's the case, then he'll rethink working on the Neo China project. Song Hwa is shocked at his intensity and Bok Nyeo takes a moment from her staring straight ahead to look at him. Ji Hoon laughs loudly and says that Sang Chul has really misunderstood this. Sure he has. Ji Hoon claims that he was just testing things out since the two of them looked so awkward. Sure you were. You’re just trying to not lose your sadistic entertainment.

Ji Hoon stands and declares that he'll stop there for today. He formally apologizes, it his playfulness was a bit excessive, to both Sang Chul and Bok Nyeo. Sang Chul sighs like he can’t believe this guy. As he ‘apologizes’ to Bok Nyeo, she turns to look at him. I’m not quite sure what expression she has on her face. Almost concern, but I’m not certain. He claims the surprise show was because Executive Director Eun looked for her so anxiously, He’s practically smug as he looks at her. Her face is inscrutable.

The kids have arrived at Ji Hoon’s house. Song Hwa and Sang Chul are leaving the house. Song Hwa asks Sang Chul why Bok Nyeo is so fixated on CEO Jang. She wants to know what great secret that they're keeping? He stupidly tells her that Seo Ji Hoon is the person who killed Bok Nyeo’s husband and son. And Song Hwa knows that Bok Nyeo thinks that CEO Jang is Ji Hoon. She’s upset that he didn’t tell her, but I’m not sure why. As Song Hwa comes down the steps, Han Gyul and the kids see her. And then they see their father walk out behind her. Han Gyul pulls them back behind a shrub to hide out of sight so they can eavesdrop.

Song Hwa asks Sang Chul what he thought about CEO Jang's theory that they're victims of the institution of marriage. She thinks it was quite interesting. Sang Chul frowns uneasily and tells her not to be uselessly shaken by CEO Jang's intrigue. She tells him that she’s shaken. And I’m reminded why I hate her. She is so selfish. She asks him if he feels good having returned as the children's father? Not ‘having reconciled with your children’ or ‘as his children’s father’ but ‘the children’s father. Like they’re not really related. Is he absolutely fine when he sees her every day? Because you’re oh, so special and unforgettable that he really *can’t* be over you.

Sang Chul tells her that he wants to keep the promise he made his kids. She tells him that a thing like a Father-stone didn't suit him from the start. And I want to slap her so hard it’s not even funny. She tells him to drop his pretenses, like he’s so innocent and she was the one who seduced him into the affair. Yes, she really believes in you. She gets in her car and drives away, with Sang Chul staring after her. And the kids saw all of this, which means they probably think that the affairs not over. Or at least they know that he hasn’t told them that he’s been working with Song Hwa.

Sang Chul’s at his desk at home, trying to work. But he’s really thinking about his last conversation with Bok Nyeo. Han Gyul knocks on his door and enters. She seems to be reluctant to say what she’s there to say. He mentions that he found Ms. Bok Nyeo. Han Gyul replies that she knew because Director Hong told her about Bok Nyeo working at CEO Jang's house. Sang Chul shifts in his chair. She asks if Bok Nyeo’s okay, and he doesn’t really have that assuring of an answer. She almost asks about what she saw, but doesn’t. He tells her not to worry too much about Bok Nyeo. He’s planning on talking to her again. Han Gyul isn’t really relieved, since she didn’t ask her father if he’s started back up with Song Hwa again.

At a sporting goods store, Auntie is working, showing a woman camping equipment. She says that with the table she’s showing the customer, she can be like Ms. Bok Nyeo. When the woman has no idea who that is, Auntie laughs and says that it’s her nieces and nephews' housekeeper who does everything really well. Han Gyul appears. Outside, over coffee, Han Gyul’s told Auntie about seeing Sang Chul with Song Hwa. She’s worried that Appa will get sucked in again. She tells Auntie about Song Hwa coming to see her, saying she could be their mother. Auntie can’t believe how persistent that woman can be. Neither can I. IHH!

At the health club, Song Hwa is exercising. She’s thinking about Ji Hoon saying that they should start over. Auntie appears and acts all friendly, like she has no idea that Song Hwa’s the slut that slept with her sister and caused her sister to commit suicide. Was slut too harsh? I was just trying to phrase it how I thought Auntie might. Song Hwa storms off, but Auntie is right on her heels. Song Hwa’s pissed that first, it’s the daughter. Then, the housekeeper. Now, the sister-in-law? Is there anyone left she needs to meet? If there are more of them, they should all just come together, since it's so annoying. And I can’t believe how shameless Song Hwa is.

As Song Hwa starts to walk away, Auntie asks that she had an affair, and didn't even expect this much? Auntie wants to yank her hair, since her sister can’t, but she’s holding it in. Song Hwa arrogantly challenges Auntie to try it, which Auntie can’t believe. Auntie tells her that her brother-in-law made a difficult decision, so please don't make him waver. And why would she go and approach Han Gyul, telling her she could be her mother?!! Song Hwa replies that Auntie should leave her alone, since she’s not the one that Sang Chul has his eye on anymore. Auntie’s confused, but she tells Auntie that it’s Bok Nyeo. Auntie can barely say Bok Nyeo’s name, she’s so shocked. Well, at least that should reassure the kids that their dad isn’t going back to the harpy.

At Ji Hoon’s, Bok Nyeo is done for the night. He’s reading the paper. Supposedly. It’s an English newspaper called the Korea Herald. Not the *Korean* Herald, like a real English newspaper would call itself. Because Korea is a noun and Korean is an adjective, describing what type of paper the Herald is. She declares that she’ll be leaving, if he doesn’t have any more work for her. But before she can leave, he puts down the paper and asks her how she plans on verifying that he’s not Seo Ji Hoon. She turns to look at him as he asks her if she’s going to come back while he’s sleeping and attack him, tie him up and interrogate him. Without changing her expression, she asks him if she may do that. He laughs like he can’t believe she just asked that.

Bok Nyeo leaves the house, but not before pausing to look back at it before she walks away. Ji Hoon goes to look out the window and sees her looking back at him. He sighs as she walks away. He goes to his safe, which has a *huge* about of cash in it, and pulls out a wooden box. As he opens it, we don’t really get to see what’s inside, but it looks like it’s a music box. He’s obviously bothered by what the box means.

The next morning, Auntie’s telling Grandpa what Song Hwa said about Sang Chul hooking up with Bok Nyeo. Grandpa can’t believe what that 'mug face' is doing. Auntie’s stressing because she knows she can’t believe what Song Hwa said, but she can’t directly ask Sang Chul either. Grandpa flashes back to Director Hong asking him if his family and Ms. Bok Nyeo could work things out. He mutters, asking what Director Hong’s scheming, and smacks down his paper. Auntie wants to know who *he’s* talking about.

At Happy Company, Director Hong is wearing the special pin, rubbing it absent-mindedly. Grandpa is there, yelling at her, asking if Bok Nyeo and Sang Chul are seeing each other. Director Hong sighs and says that he’s an expert at building useless bridges (coming to incorrect conclusions). I love that metaphor! She tells him that he’s coming there, using Bok Nyeo as an excuse to see her. He sputters, asking if she’s some kind of sweet young thing?! She snaps, asking if he’s even still the Alain Delon of Bongsuri? Alain Delon was an incredibly handsome Swiss actor of the 1950's, who was compared to the likes of James Dean and was called the male Brigitte Bardot. This has to be a reference to something she called him when they were in love.  And Bongsuri is the place that they're originally from. That part confused me the first time around.

Before Director Hong and Grandpa can continue arguing, Auntie arrives and promptly falls on her face. Grandpa quickly goes and ducks behind Director Hong’s desk to hide. Heh. I guess he doesn’t want his daughter to know he’s there, a-courting his lady. Under the pretext of being bothered about Bok Nyeo, like Director Hong said. Auntie introduces herself and Director Hong laughs loudly as she realizes who she is. She asks why Auntie is there and Auntie wants to know that Bok Nyeo is a good person. Director Hong answers that she’s already explained everything about Ms. Bok Nyeo to her father. Auntie is surprised that she knows Grandpa, but Director Hong replies that he’s there, so she can ask him herself. Heh. I love that she is busting him hard.

Grandpa starts coughing loudly and he stands up. Auntie is surprised to see him. He sputters that she doesn’t need to know why he’s there. He waves her away and approaches Director Hong, asking about the pin. She whines sadly that he, Oppa, bought it for her. He was her Oppa! I don't know why but that makes me squee just a little. He wants to know why she has it! She’s confused and he sputters that wasn’t she messing around with his uncle? Director Hong is still shocked, asking him if there wasn't something between them.

Grandpa realizes that Auntie’s still there and tells her, well, practically shoves her outside so that he can talk to Director Hong in private. Once Auntie’s outside, he sputters at Director Hong that his Uncle showed him that pin as proof that she dumped him (and chose the Uncle instead). I think that’s what Grandpa said. The subs don’t quite make sense. He wants to know why she has it?! She sputters back, asking why she would take it off?! And Auntie is outside trying to eavesdrop.

Now Auntie and Grandpa are back at Royal & Co. (Grandpa's company). Auntie’s pestering him about Director Hong. Is she the reason why he never visits his hometown or sees his relatives? He declares that all of his success is because of wanting to show her. Without her ‘rejection,’ he would have been repairing the Bongsuri mill machinery his whole life. Auntie purses her lips thoughtfully.

Mrs. Nosy is at the Butcher’s, where Mrs. Butcher is fixing her order. Mrs. Nosy notes Mrs. Butcher’s bad mood. Mrs. Nosy gets a call from Writer Kwon. Mrs. Nosy tries to act all casual as she answers, like there’s nothing wrong. Writer Kwon wants to know why Mrs. Nosy hasn’t confirmed that Mr. Nosy is having that affair, after all she gave Mrs. Nosy a tip. Mrs. Nosy steps out of the shop, which Mrs. Butcher finds suspicious. Mrs. Nosy wants to know why Writer Kwon is doing this. Kwon says that she feels sorry for Mrs. Nosy. Yeah, right. Writer Kwon hangs up. I wonder what the woman’s game is. Has Mr. Nosy dumped her and this is her revenge? Mrs. Butcher comes up and asks what’s wrong, but Mrs. Nosy pretends it was a telemarketer and wanders out, telling Mrs. Butcher to add the cost to her tab.

At Ji Hoon’s – and I do have to give it to the set decorator, nice taste – Ji Hoon comes home and Bok Nyeo is no where to be seen. He finds her in the bedroom, dusting the bookcase. The one near the safe with the box in it. Dramatic music plays. Ji Hoon enters and announces that he needs to give her her wages. She pauses from her work and he opens his safe. What is he planning now?

The kids, minus Han Gyul, are asking Uh Jin where his mother is. They want to ask her something. Mrs. Nosy arrives and Se Gyul asks if she’s okay. She’s obviously unsettled and not very convincing as she says nothing. Doo Gyul asks her what they should do to get their new housekeeper fired. Se Gyul changes the question to what they need to do to make her quit. Mrs. Nosy mentions the housekeeper stealing something.

The kids go to Ji Hoon’s. When he sees them on the monitor, he smiles and buzzes them in. He tells Bok Nyeo that guests have come looking for her. Her face reads concern. Inside, the kids are sitting on the couch. Bok Nyeo brings them some orange juice. Hye Gyul has tears in her eyes as she tells Bok Nyeo that she misses her a humongous amount. Doesn't Bok Nyeo miss Hye Gyul? Talk about a stab in the heart. Bok Nyeo’s expression already looks pained. The boys look to see Bok Nyeo’s reaction. She steels herself and answers, “Not really.” But her expression is sad just the same.

Se Gyul nudges Doo Gyul. They ask to have a look around the place. Bok Nyeo tells them they can’t, since it’s not her house. And I realize that they want to get Bok Nyeo fired, not their own housekeeper. Dorks. She tells them to please go home. Ji Hoon emerges and tells her not to be rude to guests like that. He tells them to follow him and Bok Nyeo looks unsettled. Ji Hoon opens his safe and Se Gyul watches him put in the combination. It’s Gatsby. Really? Like that wouldn’t be something someone would easily think of? But maybe that’s the point. So Bok Nyeo will break in and find something to freak her out. He offers them some money, saying that it’ll just be their little secret.

Back in the living room, Bok Nyeo is dusting. Ji Hoon emerges and tells her to entertain her child guests well. He leaves the house, with Bok Nyeo looking after them. In the study, Doo Gyul has been listening for Ji Hoon to go. Se Gyul opens the safe and the kids look inside. They notice the box. Pulling it out, they open it. It’s an old music, with writing in English for the names of the different songs it can play. Se Gyul says that they should take it, even though Doo Gyul thinks it should be the cash. Because it’s in the safe, Se Gyul reasons that it must be valuable for Ji Hoon, so they should take it.

The boys notice something else and as they’re squirming with the box, Bok Nyeo catches them in the act. The music box clatters to the floor, breaking. Hye Gyul announces that they're stealing right now. Bok Nyeo orders them to go back home right now. They reluctantly leave. Bok Nyeo goes over to pick up the mess. When she moves the music part, she uncovers some pictures. Bok Nyeo picks one up and looks at it, and it could very well be Bok Nyeo when she was younger.

The kids are reporting to Han Gyul what they’ve done. They’re worried that they’ve really gotten Bok Nyeo in trouble. Han Gyul says that they should wait until Appa gets home.

Back at Ji Hoon’s all the pictures are of a smiling woman. Ji Hoon arrives to find Bok Nyeo staring at them. He doesn’t look happy. In fact, he’s talking through gritted teeth as he asks her if she went as far as to go through his safe. She turns to look at him and announces that he’s back. He asks again and she lies and says that she did. He’s really angry and asks if she’s feeling refreshed inside, since she’s stripped him naked?! Significant glaring.

Woo Jae arrives to find Mr. Butcher sitting in the doorway. He asks his father what he’s doing and Dad says that he was feeling a bit stuffy... Woo Jae looks around and spots Bok Nyeo. He asks his dad if she’s the one he’s been waiting for. Poor Mr. Butcher. An unrequited crush. As soon as he seems her, Mr. Butcher jumps up and runs out to bow in front of her, asking her if she’s been well. Bok Nyeo is carrying a gas can. She replies that she’s not really been well. He asks why, since she’s in this neighborhood, that she never stops by. He tries to carry the gas can, but Bok Nyeo just keeps walking.

Mr. Butcher wonders what Bok Nyeo’s carrying. Woo Jae says it looks like a gasoline container. Immediately, Mr. Butcher yells after Bok Nyeo and starts running after her, only to be tripped… buy his wife. He sputters that Ms. Bok Nyeo was acting a bit strange. Mrs. Butcher grabs him by the scruff of his collar and yells at him, then grabs him by the ear and pulls him inside. Woo Jae only sighs.

Han Gyul is working on cleaning some rice. Doo Gyul announces that he ordered them some food, because it seems like she’s having a hard time. Aw, that was nice. He says that he ordered Tteokbokki, kimbab, mandu and soondae... everything, because he’s sick of triangular kimbab! And ironically – even though I totally saw this coming as soon as he said he ordered take out – Doo Gyul’s ordered from Soo Hyuk’s restaurant. And Soo Hyuk’s the delivery boy. Uncomfortable moment, which Doo Gyul notices.

Soo Hyuk heads out to his bike. Han Gyul follows him and tells him that they bought his guitar with the money from the street performance. She tells him not to try to do this by himself. He asks why she calls him sunbae when she calls Woo Jae, Oppa. And part of me squees a little bit because Woo Jae’s gonna get the girl. Han Gyul asks if that’s important right now, since he’s going to be expelled if he continues to miss school! He just puts on his helmet and drives away, with Han Gyul shouting after him that he does everything he’s told, so he needs to come back! It's an order! Woo Jae calls – and she calls him Oppa. Heh – she tells him she just met Soo Hyuk sunbae. He tells her he’s just the person she’s been looking for.

After talking with Woo Jae, Han Gyul calls her dad and tells him that Woo Jae saw Bok Nyeo carrying a gas container. Han Gyul says that she feels uneasy, worried about what Bok Nyeo might do. Sang Chul tells her that he will check things out, since Han Gyul wants to go visit Bok Nyeo.

Bok Nyeo is pouring the gasoline in Ji Hoon’s house. Then she lights a match.

Gatsby Enterprises. Tae Shik enters the office. Only Song Hwa is there. He’s there, of course, to investigate the lead that Sang Chul told him about Do Hyung potentially being Ji Hoon. He gives Song Hwa his card. After seeing that he’s a detective, Song Hwa tells him to confirm things well, since Do Hyung isn’t a murderer.

We see what Bok Nyeo is burning. The photographs that she found. I was wondering if that’s what she’s doing. Is this on Ji Hoon’s order? Or so she can kill him with impunity? A camera pan back reveals that Ji Hoon is sitting there, watching them burn. He announces, as he stares off into space with tears in his eyes, that he had one goal in life, to be her 'Great Gatsby.' The fact that she was poor, the woman who left him, he was going to be her 'Great Gatsby,' but by the time he came back, she was already dead. Bok Nyeo just looks at the pictures burn.

Ji Hoon announces that the time Bok Nyeo hit him, he knew, that she was suffering like he was. Ji Hoon gets up and stands next to her and asks if she wanted Seo Ji Hoon to be alive, so that she can seek revenge. She turns to look at him as he declares that he wanted his woman to be alive, so he could make her happy. He laughs as he declares that they’re both crazy. They want to make someone who's dead, alive.

Sang Chul arrives at the house, opens the gate and climbs the steps. I want to know how he just opened the gate, since you need to be buzzed for it to open. Inside, Ji Hoon announces that his Daisy is already dead, just like her devil. He says that he wants to become that guy for Bok Nyeo, but what can he do, since he’s not the one. He references how she obeys any order and then asks her why she doesn’t kill him, since neither of them have a reason to live. Ji Hoon picks up the gasoline can and shoves it into Bok Nyeo’s hands. Bok Nyeo looks conflicted.

Ji Hoon grabs Bok Nyeo and asks her why she can’t kill him. She doesn’t have proof that he’s him? Bok Nyeo’s eyes aren’t blank, but glassy. So are Ji Hoon’s. He orders her to kill him. He yells it at her, telling her to seek her revenge! Sang Chul bursts in the room and asks what Ji Hoon ordered her to do. Ji Hoon replies that Bok Nyeo played a dangerous game well but now she's not finishing it. Sang Chul asks what he’s talking about, but Ji Hoon tells him there's no need for him to know, since it's already game over. Ji Hoon and Bok Nyeo look at each other, eyes full of emotion.

Ji Hoon staggers out into his living room, drained. Someone says, “Seo Ji Hoon.” It’s Tae Shik with what’s probably another detective. Ji Hoon looks at them vaguely and Tae Shik mutters, “You were alive?” Ji Hoon sighs. Sang Chul leaves the study with Bok Nyeo. Seeing her, Tae Shik concludes that “Park Eun Soo was also here together with you.” He asks Ji Hoon and Bok Nyeo to come with them “for a short while.” Ji Hoon woodenly walks as Tae Shik escorts him outside.

Outside, Tae Shik puts Ji Hoon in the car. Sang Chul opens the passenger door of his car for Bok Nyeo, who gives him a glance before getting in his car. They follow the police car, which has its siren and flashing light on, to the police station. Was the light and siren really necessary to escort a criminal to *jail*? He’s in your custody. Where’s the urgency? Han Gyul arrives just as they drive off.

At the police station, Tae Shik is interviewing Bok Nyeo, aka Eun Soo. After typing on his computer for a moment, he sighs. He tells her that she should have told him when Seo Ji Hoon appeared. Yeah, that would be my thought. You’ve hounded me for years, saying that he was my lover and I colluded with him to murder my husband and son. You’re really going to believe me if I tell you that he’s just shown up. He wants to know what she was planning on doing alone. Why was she trying to take care of things personally? Bok Nyeo doesn’t say anything, just looks at him. He asks her if it was because she wanted to prove her innocence to him. And that’s a stupid question, really. That got a lip twitch from Bok Nyeo, the first time I’ve seen her give that strong of a reaction to anyone.

Now Tae Shik’s interviewing Ji Hoon, who is sitting in the interrogation room with his arms crossed. He asks Ji Hoon for his name. And of course, he says, “Jang Do Hyung.” Tae Shik responds that he doesn’t want the alias but his real name. Ji Hoon sighs and says, “I'm Jang Do Hyung.” We see Bok Nyeo and Sang Chul watching the interrogation through the glass. Bok Nyeo looks like she’s freaking out. I actually think he made her doubt herself. Tae Shik asks for Ji Hoon’s birthday.

Someone enters and gives Tae Shik some paperwork from the identity database. It lists Ji Hoon’s identity as Jang Do Hyung, Sex: Male, Nationality: Chinese. It’s got dates of entry and exit. Tae Shik can’t believe what he’s looking at. All Tae Shik can do is sputter an apology and tells him that he can leave, Mr. Jang Do Hyung. Bok Nyeo looks like she’s about to scream, because he’s going to get away again. Ji Hoon looks at Tae Shik for a moment and then stands. Tae Shik tells him to take care, which causes Ji Hoon to turn to Tae Shik and ask if he really resembles him, that bastard? Tae Shik almost laughs as he replies, “Of course.” Tae Shik tells him that he also that that Seo Ji Hoon, that bastard, had come back to life, so it was understandable that Bok Nyeo would have made the same conclusion.

Bok Nyeo can’t take it any more and rushes into the interrogation room to look at the paperwork. It’s all there, including the police case file of the coroner’s report declaring that the body they found was “most probably the same person” based on DNA and dental records. She drops the papers and sags to the floor. She starts to scream and weep, asking why he isn’t Seo Ji Hoon. Ji Hoon looks visibly uncomfortable.

Outside the police station, Tae Shik tells Sang Chul that it’s clear now, from the circumstances, that neither Seo Ji Hoon nor Ms. Park Eun Soo are suspects. I guess he means that it’s not possible that Ji Hoon is alive, otherwise that’s a really confusing sentence. Tae Shik announces that Sang Chul can take Bok Nyeo now. Sang Chul asks Tae Shik to not bother her anymore and to remove her completely from his list of suspects. Tae Shik replies that they’ll be closing the case and to please send her his apology for doubting her.

Noticing that Bok Nyeo is leaving the station. Sang Chul suggests that Tae Shik apologize directly in person. Which is the least he can do. The least. So Tae Shik “apologizes.” Although I don’t know if I would quite call it that:
I'm sorry. I didn't realize the way things were and treated you like an accomplice. It's because I am also a human, before being a detective. My feelings can get ahead of myself at times. Actually, I was indebted to your late husband. He operated on my sister free of charge. When I heard such a nice person passed away from arson, I felt I needed to help him vent his spite.
Well, by the end, it didn’t sound so bad and doesn’t make him look quite so incompetent. And hopefully, something will strike him so that he can prove that Do Hyung *is* Ji Hoon. That would be awesome.

Tae Shik takes his leave. Ji Hoon emerges from the police station. He still looks in a daze. Sang Chul asks if he’s okay. Ji Hoon replies, “How can I be?” He asks Sang Chul to take Bok Nyeo away, since he doesn’t think he can handle it anymore. Then he walks off, I guess to go find a cab, since he rode to the station in the back of a police car. Bok Nyeo watches him go, but her face isn’t so devastated anymore, almost like she’s back to hating him again.

Sang Chul asks her if she’d like to chat for a little while. They end up at the suicide spot at the river. Bok Nyeo sits on the bench and Sang Chul stands. They’re looking out at the water. He remarks that it would be nice if they could forget. The fact that his wife died because of him and his children were hurt because of him. Even the memory of having loved Yoon Song Hwa, that woman. Even now, when he sees her, he gets confused. Because she’s a manipulative shrew who doesn’t love you. She’s just mad that she lost. Sang Chul wonders, should he be this cold towards a person who was ruined because of him? You didn’t ruin her. She set her sights on you and caught you. Not that you’re blameless, because you’re not, but she *wasn’t* ruined because of anyone but herself. It really irks me that he’s acting like she was pure and virginal before getting tangled up with him. Because she most certainly is *not.* But then Sang Chul says what makes him even crazier is the fact that he has to see her everyday and pretend that nothing is wrong. He feels so fake.

Tae Shik is talking to someone, telling them that they’re amazing. He tells them that they’ve finally killed Seo Ji Hoon. Completely. He smiles. And I have a really bad feeling that Mr. Tae Shik is a corrupt cop who helped our Ji Hoon fake his death. I am super pissed if this is the case. He asks the shoulder, “What are you going to do now?” We don’t get to see who he’s talking to, but I know in my gut that it’s Ji Hoon, aka Do Hyung. I just know it.

Sang Chul tells Bok Nyeo that he can’t say to forget, or to not cling to the past either. Because no matter how hard they try, they’ll end up reliving it again. Sang Chul sighs and asks whether they shouldn't still go on with their lives. He turns to look at her and tells her that he and the children are waiting for her. Can’t she please return to them? Bok Nyeo turns to look at him. And I am a little emotional. That was so sweet!

Tae Shik, with a small smirk on his face, says that for the first time, she (Bok Nyeo) appeared to be human. A person, who's not a Park Bong Nyeo, but, a Park Eun Soo. And I scream with frustration and scare my dogs as they reveal who he’s talking to. It’s Ji Hoon. Jang Do Hyung. JI HOON! At least my gut wasn’t off. Ji Hoon sighs.

We get the flashback to when Tae Shik was showing Ji Hoon the video of them acting out The Wizard of Oz, with Tae Shik saying that though she wasn't smiling, she appeared happy. Just like a family. I can’t even describe Ji Hoon’s reaction. Almost happy. But if he’s looks at himself as Jay Gatsby, the fact that she’s not going to be dead would make him happy. Tae Shik asks Ji Hoon what he’s planning on doing, since he’s killed off Seo Ji Hoon. Ji Hoon replies, with a crazy look in his eyes, that now, it's time to save her. Another shot of him, he looks absolutely elated that he fulfill his dream of saving her.

Thoughts

I almost believed his story back there. Almost. But there was something, something. In the things he said, the things he did, all the way up to the end. The ramifications of what’s been revealed is huge. But I love the writers for giving us clues in the literary things that they reference. The Great Gatsby was a huge clue that Jang Do Hyung was Seo Ji Hoon. Bok Nyeo, the way she’s been acting, she is dead, which pretty much what they said at the end.

I can’t believe how crooked the cop is?!!! Are they related? Childhood best friends? The fact that Tae Shik *helped* him is all the more mind-blowing. It makes sense, but it’s still mind-blowing. Tae Shik could totally tamper with the evidence so that it declares Ji Hoon dead. The DNA would match if it was taken from the same dead body. Or he could just tamper with the results. The foreign identity paperwork, he could have faked the records and put them in the database. It’s just so creepy. And the look in his eyes was scary, because he totally believes that he’s on a holy mission to save her.

It looks like Bok Nyeo’s going to continue to get closer to the Euns and to come back to life. I am scared for what Ji Hoon might try to do to them down the road, when they appear to be impediments to his mission to save her.

I am still reeling from what’s been revealed, how sick Ji Hoon’s brain is. ‘I left so I could come back and save her, rescue her. But when I came back, she was dead.’ This is one twisted man.

My mind is so reeling that I don’t really have any other reactions from the episode, except to say that Director Hong might actually be getting a boyfriend, now that Grandpa knows that she never dumped him. I do love how she talks to him, though.

My mind is blown. That’s all I have to say.

Except that I hate Yoon Song Hwa. Hate her, hate her, hate her. She is a manipulative shrew. Period. Maybe Ji Hoon can accidentally kill her. Or spill acid on her face! Wow, I’m feeling quite vengeful. Okay, maybe just threaten her life and terrorize her so that she leaves town. That would work for me. Not that I’d really wish that on anyone, but that’s my venting talking.
